Pretty fun trip! We went here and had a pretty good time! There are a few downsides, tough. 1. The room was ok, and the kids bunk was to. but the bathroom was perfect for fruit fly's and not the cleanest. 2.In a room leading to the hotel/magi quest section it SMELLED LIKE MODUVER. there where also some places that needed a more thoughtful cleaning but it was still kind of clean. 3. The buffet. this place had some pretty crappy meals. it made me almost THROW UP. And for a expensive price? but it is still a buffet. 4. A LITERAL FROG WAS IN THE INDOOR POOL. I am not joking. Unfortunately, the lack of safety measures- and the customer service- was dangerous, dishonest and unacceptable and resulted in an injury that an employee lied about and threatened me over. Giant incident here: Our daughter (3 years old) went down the right kiddie slide (there's 2 back to back, see pic). Another kid (larger, stronger, much older) saw her wading across, purposely went right as my daughter was passing, and kicked her hard in the kneecap. Our daughter sustained a knee injury, cried out in pain, and I picked her up. (The other kid laughed, and the kid's parents couldn't care less. Go figure.) Note: The park --requires-- all parents to point out any dangerous activity (see their own sign, below). Having the common sense to understand it's important I remain calm in these situations (otherwise it gets turned around on you), I *calmly* got the lifeguard on duty's attention and asked him "Hey, that kid just purposely slid down and ran into my daughter's knee, she's hurt, don't you think that maybe you should talk to the parents and let them know for their kid to be more careful?" The lifeguard (see photo below)- rather than talking to the parents at all- *lied*, claimed "there's no life guard watching the slide, the slides are not watched! Do you need me to get a manager?" Threatening me with me being in trouble for simply pointing out dangerous actions. He also huffed up his chest and leaned towards me in a sketch way. So I said "Yes, a manager would probably be a good idea". The manager came over, and immediately after hearing what happened, agreed 100% with me and my wife. She pointed out that the employee had also lied about something else: The manager said that the lifeguard's job IS to watch that specific kiddie area with the 2 slides, and that if I had brought it up, the employee definitely should have talked to the parents. And also, the manager confirmed that the employee shouldn't have tried to scare me for pointing out unsafe behavior/injury, especially considering the park *requires* you to do it. They offered me a free room or money off, I said no. I pointed out the employee threatened a customer, (not just with his words but also body language, like guys do before a fight) and also that the employee had lied to my face, endangered my daughter, and that the employee is likely to endanger other children. So I said the only thing I want- for the good and safety of every child at that park- is for the employee to be terminated, asap. The manager was leaning towards retraining, but this isn't a training issue, it's a moral conduct issue. The employee admitted he wasn't watching the slides he was supposed to watch. He also lied and claimed no lifeguard is even watching them. He also threatened a customer. At this point, the park IMO doesn't seem safe for kids, because an employee of the park is doing all of this. Note: The manager was nice, and got our daughter an ice pack (for what it's worth), but ultimately if the employee stays then I can't recommend this park. 4/5 for Adults - be prepared to spend lots of money if you are doing things outside of the water park attraction. The rooms are just ok, tiny bathroom, uncomfortable beds..Food should be way better! We got a popcorn that was a whomping $7.50, you would be better off bringing popcorn frm the store with some dollar store "popcorn" containers. There is fast food nearby (within 5 miles) that you can visit like (chickfila, sonic, walmart, ihop, pancake house, outback). Arcade - MONEY PIT, we got $10 free with our paw pass which is equal to about 2-3 games depending on how much they cost. Won 500 tickets (after purchasing more arcade coins) & prizes were horrible because all the small items were mainly for GIRLS. They need a better selection. Also, received several emails saying they had a swim shop in case you needed to purchase water items, but when expecting to get my kids water shoes....they had limited sizes in stock. 5/5 for the Water park. Kid LOVED every bit of it..it's huge! Outdoor & indoor pool with basketball hoops & balls for play. Several slides, a wave pool, a kids area w tiny slides. Tons of lifeguards on duty, they even had a practice dummy in the kid area to test if the lifeguard could see it drowning. (a bit dramatic for parents and kids tho people were crying thinking a real child had drowned) There is something for everyone and lots of chairs for adults to sit back while kids have fun. They have scheduled events happening during the day which you can get reminders on the app. The outdoor pool has music playing with a good selection of mixed music, lots of life jackets in all sizes available, lockers to store your items while at the water park (cost more money) but we took a bag and left our items in a chair...which a lot of ppl did. We had no issues with anyone bothering out items. All of the staff was extremely nice, even the ladies cleaning the rooms would speak when passing. They also have bowling which was smaller version for the kids , 2 lanes were broken. Laser tag was $8 per person of $40 per family. It's a small room with fog and small barriers. Games last 5 minutes. Would def return and try a day pass vs staying overnight but great first experience..You can def visit here with out adding all the additional attractions & still have a good time. read more

The staff is super nice and helpful. They will get the things you need really quick. The comforter/blanket isn't as thick so ask for extra if you like your room chilly. The Wi-Fi is horrible but expected with the amount of people there. Room service didn't take out trash but they replaced used towels daily. Before school start is definitely the wrong time to come as the hotel was crazy crowded. The smell of chlorine hits your nose as soon as you walk into the pool area. A great place to take your children and let them enjoy themselves. read more

Came down here for a long weekend with some buddies to play golf. Beautiful course, very challenging, pace of play was brutally slow, pushing 6 hours and unable to finish 18 holes because of it getting too dark is ridiculous. read more

I struggled on what rating to give this location. The Good: The kids had a blast. We had a larger room to accommodate our party and per family it worked out to be a decent deal for the 2 days and 1 night. The water park while smaller than the others GWL we've been too (Garden Grove, CA & Salt River, AZ), was great for the kids. I understand the whole place is turning 20 years old this year so I give it a little pass being one of the older locations. We didn't do many of the other amenities, free or for charge. The Bad: I wasn't thrilled about the state of the water park. Many of the water features on the kid structure were capped off and non operational. You could see where a few of the pathways on the structure were closed off and a path missing. The toddler area was similar where elements were just capped, or not working great. The large slides were all operating so no issues there but the system for tubes was a little hectic as they had no lifeguard in the water at splashdown for 2 of the slides so riders were not giving up tubes despite lines to get a tube. This brings me to another interesting note is a lack/minimal amount of lifeguards. Lazy River had 1 patrolling the middle but the ends would've been difficult to see a guest having difficulties. Wave pool had 1 lifeguard on the side. The whole fort structure had 1 lifeguard manning the top of the 2 slide but none at the bottom keeping kids out of the splashdowns or getting them out. I didn't go to the basketball/rope-platform crossing pool so I can't say for sure but I'd imagine it'd been a similar situation. The whole place felt like it was staffed like an end of season outdoor water park, not a year round one. It also had a severe lack of seating for a building that could handle 1811 maximum capacity. But that's not too bad. There was also a LOUD BANG several times during the night that woke the adults up. There's a $15 a night per car parking fee that is kind of a joke. There is ZERO secured gating to park. It's only a parking lot. Only thing I can guess is to deter people parking overnight who aren't guests? I don't know why else they have it. The Ugly: Around 7:30/8P, we had a knock upon our door from security stating "they'd had a noise complaint for our room." Now we had 4 rambunctious children 10 and under. So we asked them to calm down and they all came to watch a movie. About an hour later and after the littlest one had already gone to sleep, we get another knock on the door with two security guards stating they'd received more complaints. This time our kids hadn't made as much as a peep since the first knock. When asked "what time is quiet hours" they said 11pm... it was maybe 9pm. So we requested via the concierge for a manager to call because this time it felt like we were being harassed by the other guest/security. Especially when not 5 minutes after the second set of security came by people were running and yelling in the hallway. When the manager called us we asked why we're being talked to when quiet hours were a few hours away? Their generic response of "we have to respond to all complaints" was less than helpful since any staff member could have spent 5 minutes in the hallway to realize it wasn't our room but the hallway in general that was being loud. The TLDR: -Great for the kids. -Value is fine except the water park is showing its age and food is really pricey. -Quiet hours are not 11pm apparently since security will come knocking earlier for "complaints" at a kid friendly hotel. -Saturday in January water park staffing is questionably low. -A joke of a per night per car parking fee. read more

We had a fantastic time and the kids really enjoyed themselves. It was definitely muggy and too warm in the hotel over all, and the majority of the bowling lanes were broken, but they were happy to change activities to make up for it. We found a place called NY Deli about a mile from there that had fantastic food, so we chose to eat there versus the hotel. The arcade is not worth spending your money on, so we steer clear of that and let the kids play Magiquest. read more

We come here every year! Our suite was clean and big and we had a beautiful fireplace and a balcony. The entire visit was pleasurable and fun! We will see you next year! This may be a long one. Quick summary: Bad service for high prices. Kids enjoyed the water park for three days, but a lot to be desired for the parents. Check in process was great. Young lady was super helpful and made it all very fast. Went to our room, and started to unpack. The rooms are DARK. There needs to be additional floor lamps or ceiling lamps put in place. Really not even safe of a light level. I messaged down and asked for an extra lamp, but was told none are available. And the noise! You can hear people yelling and stomping all day and night. Our room was right next to the stairwell, and kids are running up and down the steps until after 11pm. Went to unpack in the bathroom, and there's no where to unpack. Shower is three walls and a curtain, no shelf for your products. Other than that, the room was clean and we went to the water park for night 1. Kids enjoyed themselves. Day 2, we rented a deluxe cabana for more than the cost of a nights stay. Cabana was well appointed with a couch, a few chairs and a small fridge. Our cabana came with lunch, and this is where things started to go wrong. We waited around for a server as is advertised, but one never came. I went and asked and apparently servers aren't available at this location. Seems like a lot of money to not get an advertised amenity. I went to order our lunch and told them we had the cabana. I was told to order on the app and they would credit us. That's not true! You have to bring voucher to the pizza shop and have them credit you there. I only found that out when I went to the front desk to question what happed the next day. Also the texting feature to tell you when your food is ready apparently doesn't work. Our 30-40 min wait for food was apparently only 15, but because we didn't get a text, it sat for 25 mins before I went to check. We stayed at the pool until about 6pm and when we got back to the room, the cleaning staff had replaced the towels, but not made the beds. Maybe that's an every other day thing? More on that later. Day 3, we woke up to one of the kids having had an accident. I messaged down to the front desk that we would need the sheets changed. Our plans were to spend the day out of the hotel, so we left around 10am and arrived back again just about 6pm. The dirty sheets were sitting in the middle of the room upon return, and the cleaning staff didn't replace the mattress protector. Just made the sheets bed with sheets my son had used after the accident on the couch. The rest of the beds and room uncleaned. They don't clean every day, on upon request. We shoved the sheets out in the hall and put the do not disturb sign on the door. If that's how the cleaning staff "cleans", I don't want anyone else in my room. Day 4 we rented the deluxe cabana again. Got to the park around 9:30, and it's a good thing we did. About 15 minutes later, a family walked up and told us we were in their cabana. We even had a name plate printed by the hotel that says this was ours. Now I'm arguing with another guest because apparently the front desk told them they had the cabana we were already in. After a conversation with the front desk, we were assured we could stay in the cabana we've already paid for, and the other family would have to move. Now a pro, I brought my voucher up to order pizza, waited right away and picked it up hot, and had a pretty good day. That is until my other son wanted to take a rest in the cabana. We unraveled the included towel to dry him off, and it was extremely dirty. This isn't one of the towels you borrow during the day, this was a wrapped towel that you get as part of your cabana package. There was a large black mark and a the whole back was very dirty. Looked like it was opened, used, and then resealed. We just threw the towel away. No point in complaining since so far, that hasn't garnered any changes. Back to the room again around 6pm and packed our stuff. We had planned to hang out on our last day, have breakfast, check out and then enjoy the water park again for a bit before departing. Instead, we left at 6am after a night sleep. We will never come back to this place again. For the cost, you can go to Disney and see what customer service really looks like. read more

Kids had fun but the arcades are WAYYY TOOO EXPENSIVE. spend $25 you play only 4 times because each one takes about 10-15 credits. Good place to visit in winter. read more

This is our second time and we are already planning a third. I can't say enough how much we enjoy it here. The service level is right up there with Disney, IMO. As this was our second visit, I want to highlight some things we did differently. 1. Get the app. It's a great tool. You can check in early from the road and your room can be ready, ours was. You can see what activities are going on. You can connect with housekeeping and they quickly brought more towels and an iron. And check out is as easy as texting OUT. 2. We had 4 adults and 2 kids under 10 in one standard room. It worked because we didn't spend much time in the room but it's certainly big enough. And having a balcony was great. The rooms are always clean and nice amenities. 3. Get the Paw Pass. Little kids have the pup pass but older kids would enjoy the higher level. I would only get the wolf pass if you have more than 2 days. It's a great opportunity to get away from the water for a while and the kids like checking off their lists. 4. Magiquest is hella fun. It's how you work off all the junk food you eat. I would say 6 and older because you need to follow instructions. I finally beat that dragon. And when you come back bring the wand and then get a new topper. Those things have magic spells and stuff. 5. Water park. Again climbing those steps for the slides gets all the calories burnt. It was so much more fun this time since our kid was big enough to ride everything. Although we only got him on the tornado ride once...at night. It was awesomely terrifying. And still scary in the day. The place is super clean and the lifeguards are on it. The older your kids, the easier it is to let them run wild. And just ignore that sign about no food or drink from outside. 6. Food. We brought in a lot. Our breakfasts and tons of snacks. And a cooler full of drinks for adults and kids. The Dunkin line is crazy long in the mornings. The buffet is good but if yours kids don't eat a lot then it's a waste. The snack bar in the pool was actually really good. I had a great turkey and avocado sandwich that was good sized and very fresh. There are also fats food joints near by for variety. We also brought a keurig to have enough coffee for us. BEWARE HIDDEN FEE: My wife and kids visited yesterday on a day pass and stayed half a day. Last night, we saw a $9.95 fee after they left. We called this morning and a very pleasant customer rep explained it was a "day pass amenity fee", "talked to her manager", and quickly refunded it. There was no mention of this fee at check-in, and my wife never authorized the company to retain her card (as you might with hotels, for example). This silly fee and experience detracted from an otherwise very fun happy day at the park. read more

We have a love/hate relationship. We go frequently so my daughter can have fun at the waterpark. Even with the refreshed rooms, the hotel aspect is just ok. No frills and terrible amenities. The food options get old quick if staying more than a day or two. And for the last negative, it can be (and was) overrun with teenage student groups. The families with kids are fine, but what groups are there can make or break it - even midweek. That being said, the customer service was top notch this trip. The front desk help, the chats in app with staff, and most of all a random housekeeper in the hallway. We struck up a conversation and saw her several times. I wish I had gotten her name to give management a kudos. The water park was fun and we always rent a cabana. Pricy, but well worth it! They also refunded us without question when we came home today a day early due to tge weather. Lots of fun if you set your expectations correctly. read more

I dont know if anyone knows this but the fire alarm system is set to only alert areas where the fire is, so if you are in your room and there is a fire in the lobby, the rooms wont know unless someone from the lobby tells them. Second visit here. I want to give the water park 4 stars and the hotel 2, so landing at 3 again. WATER PARK: + Kids had a great time at the water park; there's plenty to do. + Employees and lifeguards were friendly. + Water slides are great and it wasn't too busy. - They we're running short on tubes for the slides and Tornado seemed to be malfunctioning. - Some parents leave their kids in the family hot tub as if it's a babysitting space. Had to ask other people's kids to stop doing cannonballs. - There was no lifeguard at the bottom of the slides. Our son flipped over in his tube and had a scare. - Food is overpriced HOTEL: The hotel feels like an afterthought and there's little attention given to the in-room experience. + Good activities for the kids. They enjoyed the bedtime story. + Dunkin' in the lobby - Active construction on site. - Room only had 4 towels for a family of 6. - There we're only 2 towel hooks in the room so we had to hang wet towels elsewhere throughout the room. - A/C unit was wildly loud - They could do way better with decorating and adding character to the rooms. - Had a large billing issue and we were overcharged. We've been to this location several times, and have stayed in several rooms, and have enjoyed our trip every time! Here's a list of Pros & Cons we've experienced during our stays. Gift shop offers tons of souvenirs, clothing, wolf ears, toys, hygiene products! Their gift shop located at the swim park is well supplied with swim googles, swimming suits & swim trunks for all ages, towels, swim shoes, & more. - GREAT WOLF LODGE ONLINE APP - Can conveniently access Great Wolf Lodge stay info, Kid game passes info (Pup, Paw, and Wolf passes), activities schedules, see what activities are available, food menu & order food, chat with staff, & check out from app. - PUP, PAW, WOLF Passes! Pricey but tons of fun for the kids, and you get discount on certain items in the gift shop. Worth it. - MAGI QUEST & WANDS If you get certain kid pass (PAW or WOLF pass) it comes with an activated wand & access to the Magi Quest game. The quest itself is kind of confusing, but the kids have tons of fun walking around the lodge and waving their wand to activate the "magical items" that light up & talk, located on each floor. You get the wand at the MagiQuest store. - LOCATION is nearby so many places, places to eat and places to see! - SWIM ACCESS if you arrive early or your room isn't ready yet, they will allow you to swim after you check in (4pm), you can get wrist bands to access indoor swim area, catch is earliest you have "early access" to swim starts at 1pm, and you'd have to leave your luggages/belongings in your car until your room is ready. Also, check out is at 11am, but even after you check out, you still have access to swim until the indoor pool closes at 8pm, but again you'd have to have your belongings in your car. - ONLINE DEALS & DISCOUNTS Always look for a deal on their website www.greatwolf.com they run promos often, or sometimes you can find deals also on Groupon! We were able to find deals as low as $99/per night! Just look often and try to book your stay earlier. - they allow you to BRING YOUR OWN FOOD & DRINKS, can also bring in a cooler! They have ice machines. - ALCOHOLIC DRINKS for adults! They offer wine & beer for purchase at Hungry as a Wolf and also the snack/ drink bar in the indoor pool area, the alcoholic drinks can be ordered to the right side of the snack booth, it's called Outpost. Cons: - extremely pricey for rooms & food - they are doing renovations currently - if you're not early to the indoor pool, it's hard to find seating, especially at the tables area near the food/snack/drink bar. - outdoor pool area was drained out, we wanted to experience the outdoor pool during this trip but we couldn't, because it was drained out. We don't know if there's a schedule for the outdoor pool or if they are doing renovations. - we were inconveniently CHECKED OUT of our room before our check out time (we did not check out yet!) Check out time is at 11am, during this recent stay, we had cleared our room early so we could eat out for breakfast & wouldn't have to hurry out of our room for check out at 11am, well after we returned from breakfast and playing bowling that morning before our check out time, housekeeping was already in our room cleaning, but we still had planned to use our room before we headed out on our long drive back home. Although it was an inconvenience, we sorted it out with the front desk clerk and was given an extra hour to check out so we can use our room until we were ready to check out. - room experience varies! We've tried out different types of rooms during each of our stays and noticed different room quality from room to room. This last room we rented for our most recent room was ok, it was the Family Fireplace suite, but we noticed the fridge was missing a knob, the fireplace was electric w/ switch, and wasn't emitting that much heat and you can't feel the warm without standing right up in front of the fireplace (I was thinking it would be cold in Nov so I booked this fireplace suite) we could've done without the fireplace, there was a hole in the carpet near the front door. Our other room during our last stay was awesome, it was the Majestic Bear suite!! That room has tons of space, and we enjoyed our stay the most in that suite, it's also closer to all the fun stuff, the pool, food, magi quest shop, arcade, bowling, on the first floor! Bit pricier room but worth it if you can snag a good deal! TIPS: *Go early to the indoor pool when they first open at 9am to snag good seating, especially the tables by the snack bar! The table seating is claimed so quickly, it's hard to get a table seating if you come in later. read more

Actually took my 2 daughters and their friend back in June or July and had and issue with the noise level from the room above us, I called the front desk and they said they would handle it ( which they didn't) after receiving survey I mentioned the incident and received an email from "Melanie Barfield" stating that they apologized and would like to offer future compensation for us. I reached back out for confirmation and never heard back from her. At this point we won't return but I thought that was very rude and inconsiderate to not respond back. I started bringing the girls about 3 years ago sometimes twice a year but we will not return as I believe it is way too expensive to have to deal with the noise level and sleep disruption at 2-3 am with no resolution. We went for an overnight stay. Purchased our room through groupon since it was cheaper (about $50 bucks). Definitely make sure to utilize the number of people in the room. We had a room for 8 and had 8 people. It was nice to have extra adults to go different ways with the kids so were happy. We purchased the groupon for the arcade, pizza, and soda. It really helped when the water park closed at 8pm to have a little something to do. We really enjoying the little games and crafts in the lobby. My daughters loved the clock show. There were coupons for things around the hotel in my email for check in. I bought a cup of coffee and got a free donut. Highly reccomend packing snacks and a cooler. Their buffet is so expensive, we packed snacks and went back and forth munching. The towels have to be checked in and out under your room. If you don't turn them in there is a fee. It was super chilly when we got out though, maybe it was the time of year. Downfall was almost all of the lifeguards seemed so angry. I saw one maybe glimmer a smile. This is one of those places that is tough to write a fair review of, because of all the moving parts. And my family. We met my younger daughter, her hubs & daughter, for a 2-night, 3-day reunion over Dec. 29-31, 2019. I was dubious but agreed to spending two full days at the splash park, figuring my 10-year-old grandson would not be enthused about the second day. (I was right.) OK, so ... going in I expected high prices and somewhat crowded conditions. Right on both. My daughter had booked the 2nd to top of the line suites, but with 8 of us it was slightly challenging when bedtime arrived. Luckily, I'm totally fine with sleeping on a sofa and at least it was comfy! One good thing: if you have booked lodging, you can get your wristband(s) and use the splash park as soon as they open, rather than having to wait until you get into your room. One other good thing: adults only hot tub. When I saw the first one, crowded with littles, I was like "oh nooooo" but then saw the gated adult one. I was a little sad that after the initial dunk, the heat wasn't quite what I prefer. It had good jets, though. The parts I really didn't enjoy: long lines for the most popular tube rides. Expensive food and nothing really healthy. And seriously, could the employees be any more grouchy and disinterested?!? Out of the probably 8-10 I interacted with, exactly ONE smiled and was pleasant. That's a pretty low percentage! And lastly, OMG the noise level is insane!! Not that they can do anything about that, but it's high on my list of what makes someplace fun/not fun. Grandkids had a blast for the first half of the first day. Probably a moderate amount of fun the second half. Great Wolf Lodge - So noisy!! - Resorts Near Me - Williamsburg, Virginia

We just came back from Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg (03/16-03/19) with my husband, 2 kids (2 & almost 4), and myself and this is what we found. We all had a great time! We will be planning another trip. -Book early with a discount code, I got one through a Facebook group and paid $99 a night plus resort fees and taxes. -We are have been very covid cautious and decided to lighten up a little for this trip. With that being said there seems to be absolutely NO Social Distancing at the lodge. The Hustle & Howl Dance Party was also overly crowded IMO. We did not do the slides due to our kids ages but found that it was not too hard to social distance in the waterpark due to the kids mainly staying in the wave pool and kiddie area. -The meal plan worked great for us!!!! We paid $168 and the kids were free due to their ages. Even though they were free they still got the $10 per day lunch credit so we had $80 lunch credits to use at Hungry as a Wolf and Buckets. That knocks our cost to $68 for 4 buffets for 4 people, roughly $5 a meal each and gratuity is included, this deal would have been unbeatable if we brought our own food. -We all loved the food! We ate breakfast and dinner buffets at Loose Moose and even my picky 3 year old enjoyed it. She loved the Watermelon at breakfast. My husband and I enjoyed the steak, pork loin, ribs, and salmon. The chicken tenders were really good too and I even loved the BBQ sauce they had. We purchased a refillable cup right when checking in but honestly maybe refilled it 3 times (I had brought water with us). We had a pretzel from Buckets and pizza from Hungry as a Wolf which were also good. We had $30 left over so I spent it at the convience store at Hungry as a Wolf before checking out. -The room was very spacious and clean (Family Fireplace Suite on first floor). We did request a pack & play online and did not get it but luckily had brought a crib mattress so didnt need it. (We may have been able to get one if we had requested it at check in). The kids enjoyed watching the story time show on the room tv but they were a little disappointed that they did not have really age appropriate channels for them (No Disney Jr or Nick Jr). We didnt stay in the room much but they usually watch tv gearing down for bed and nap times. Next time I will try to bring our Roku device. -I think the Sunshine Celebration was one of the best activities. It is a dance party and my daughter loved it! It is so much less crowded than the Hustle & Howl Dance Party. -My 3 year old loves to dance but the Hustle & Howl Dance Party was way too crowded for us. It seemed like we were in a club (for kids) with the crowd level and lack of social distancing. Granted if you aren't worried about social distancing, it looked like a great time! To avoid the crowds though my tip is to go to the second floor. The balcony overlooks the lobby and there was no people there. My children still had a blast dancing and still could see the dancing staff at the front. They had plenty of room to dance and I purchased a bubble wand so they had bubbles ($30, not necessary IMO as no one I saw bought one). -We did not do Paw Passes and kinda glad we didnt because we did not do all the activities listed on them nor had time. -My husband loved MagicQuest! My 2 year old loved pointing the wand at things. He went with her while I took the 3 year old to Arts & Crafts which was making bead bracelets which was so much fun too! -The arcade seemed pretty expensive but my husband loved it. My 2 year old loved taking in all the lights where it caused my 3 year old to be nervous though (especially bc its loud). It is 25% cheaper earlier in the day (9am-7pm I believe). -MY BIGGEST PROBLEM: GWL Williamsburg has got to get their billing system straight!!!! They kept charging my credit card instead of the lunch credit. I only used the lunch credit where it should be used: Hungry as a Wolf and Buckets. This was annoying because I literally had it happen 3 times and each time I had told the employees I needed it charged to my lunch credit and not credit card (Once even ordering online). They did not fix it unless I brought it up so I feel like I would have had probably at least $60 worth of charges on my credit card if I didnt. Next time I will see if they can completely remove my credit card from the wrist band. -Bowling was nice and even the 2 year old could do it. My suggestion would be since they dont oil the lane lil ones can walk up the lane a little bit in order to have a better chance of not getting a gutter ball. -All of the staff were very sweet! They took the time to make the experience great for us! -We feel like a 2 night stay was more than enough. We didnt even use the waterpark on check out day as planned because we had spent so much time in it the other 2 days. -There is a Walmart literally 2 miles down the road if you forget anything! Great Wolf Lodge - Loose Moose Dinner Buffet! - Resorts Near Me - Williamsburg, Virginia

We are just returning from a two night midwinter trip to Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA. My husband and I are the proud grandparents of three boys, ages 7, 11, and 13. The five of us made up the party for this trip. Great Wolf Lodge is one of a chain of "resort" hotels catering to families. The big feature is the indoor water park at each resort. All GWL are clearly modeled after Disney's Fort Wilderness. Remember "Coming to America"? The father who owned a "McDowells" burger joint who was always being pursued by McDonald's for his second rate imitation? I am sorry to say it but I was reminded of this. Clearly I did not expect a Disney level experience, but all the references are there. Check in is not until 4 PM. You can request early check in for a $69 upcharge, we did request but were notified that it had not been granted. Coming from the Eastern Shore, we arrived right at 3. Parking lot and lobby area were a complete and utter zoo. Entire families of six or eight or more, complete with strollers, rolling luggage, etc, are actually in the check in line. There are hotel staff people circulating through the crowds, equipping all guests with a set of Wolf Ear headbands. My own "pack" waited outside in the car while I checked in. Maybe it's just me, but that seems to be the most expedient, efficient, and courteous thing to do. I was advised at the front desk that the room would be ready at 4 PM, and was issued a plastic wristband that would serve as our room key....on for each guest. We were invited to partake of the waterpark while we waited for a phone text that would give us our room number and allow us to access the room. We parked out in the lower forty of the behemoth parking lot and hiked back up to and through the massive log built central lobby, again wading through crowds. In the lobby itself there's a huge fireplace, the Restaraunt area, a Dunkin Doughnuts kiosk, and the gift shop. Stairwells go down to level 1 on one side, and up to floors 3 & 4 on the other side. Two elevators are tucked back behind the central lobby display, and windows that overlook the waterpark, on Level 1. Our first impression of the waterpark was, well, not the best. Clearly capacity is not limited. For whatever the capacity might be, there is woefully inadequate seating. Approaching the end of the waterpark day, trash was abundant, tables were stacked high with food trays, drink cups and general garbage. Towels, swimsuits, shoes, & clothing were draped over every available surface. Saw lots of tense moments as confrontations took place over chairs and "saved" seats. We allowed the boys to put on thier swim trunks and look around, partaking of some of the smaller attractions. My impression overall was "people soup" and I was not totally comfortable, but I guess it is what it is. Kept checking the phone and no text message. Gave the desk close to 4:30 to be assigned our room, but never got a text. Finally went back to the front desk to inquire. The front desk staff was so perky and polite as she informed me that "Sorry, but I have no idea when your room will be ready! You are in a queue and we have 60 rooms we are trying to get clean, so......" my response-"what time is check in, that we have reserved and paid for??" Answer: "4:00!" me: "what time is it now?" Answer "4:32!". Me ‍. Eventually, I was assigned a room. Albeit reluctantly. The rooms themselves are very nice. We had a "Kidcabin" suite, which has a separate log cabin themed room with a set of bunk beds, a twin bed and a TV. The boys loved It. The suite is of a nice size, has a gas fireplace in the front corner nest to the balcony doors, a queen bed, kitchenette area with microwave, fridge, insipid hotel coffeemaker. Sofa that opens to a full size bed, small table with two chairs. I can't grasp why there are only two chairs at the table in a room that sleeps 6-7. The balcony has two chairs which are metal, available worldwide at Dollar General stores everywhere. Literally not usable. Room was clean, bathroom was a bit worn, with some mildew around the tub and in the grout. Dinner time found us at the Loose Moose restaraunt, a buffet style arrangement located just to the side of the main lobby. Think Golden Corral without the selection. Our boys are not picky and no one left hungry but pretty much a "meh" as to overall impression. There was a small salad bar, mostly lukewarm greens. Dinner rolls were stale, cold. Mac & cheese, kraft variety, potato wedges, some sort of rice, corn on the cob, broccoli. Chicken, fried or baked, chicken "nuggets". Something called "strip loin" which was nicely rare but basically carved and served cold, and baked salmon pieces, also cold. Desserts looked like the staff got leftovers from thier own fridge and brought them in. A few pieces of cheescake, a little apple pie, tiny chocolate and vanilla pudding which was actually lemon.....and when i say tiny I mean shot glass tiny. read more

This review is for the costumer employees for the Williamsburg VA location. Today I call about a credit that I had of 140.00. The person who answered my call said "We always send a message, email or text before the expired as a reminder " I told him I didn't receive any mail, email or text, saying that that amount was about to expire". He answered the same thing so I ask him for a proof of that. Five minutes later, because he couldn't find anything, he said I ask and they correct me and tell me that not always they send a notification. So they just change the policy and information just for their benefit. I nice to know. read more

Considered booking for a while. I thought they were priced high and honestly it is considering this isn't all inclusive with food and the additional resort booking fee, but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and if an issue arised, they were right on top of it. The manager was excellent in resolutions and customer service. I really liked the food they had at the buffet. It was a nice assortment especially the stuffed pork loin. Also, I don't know why but the Dunkin' Donuts at this resort is extra yummy!! I'd return again for sure. read more

Going here is the reason why we come to Williamsburg. My 9 year old son loves it there. They have an indoor park, and a scavenger hunt game called Magic Quest, that the kids use an energized wand and pretend like they are wizards. They have made lots of renovations since we've been there a couple of years ago. Everything is super clean and fresh, they have cleaning people posted everywhere. They have some good options for food there, such as a pizza place, ice cream, salads, burgers, chicken tenders, and a Dunkin' Donuts. We look forward to visiting again. read more

This place is five stars for kids, but I struggle to give it five stars as an adult. The water park was outdated, and somewhat dirty in parts. Additionally, the bunk bed in my son's room had a 6 inch screw that was undone and hanging out, and I woke up to a dead phone one morning because the wall outlet that I plugged into was not active. None of my complaints are egregious but it's collectively enough for me to be hard pressed to give this place 5 stars. read more

Only spent the day here, a weekday (Tuesday) and it was pretty busy! Its a good age for I'd say 2yrs- 13yrs, but there was all age groups here and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Loved the wave pool, especially the fact that it got gradually deeper so if you have littles and bigs you can watch them all easily at the same time. The slides are really fun too. The 7 year olds went fine alone, but I couldn't talk the 5 year old into going, and they do look pretty intimidating for the younger ones, you might want to plan on having two people so you can split time between the slides and the toddler area. Toddler area did have a broken stool, or two, definitely looked a little dangerous, but besides that the area was neat and nice, you could easily bring your baby here LOVED the outdoor area, the pool was warm, but not too warm. They had great music playing and they even had a bar! Drinks are a little pricey (mixed drink was $12) We ordered pizza and took it outside. It was your average pizza, maybe a little bit better then average. I would get it again. I would definitely come back! Note So we didn't realize that they give you an assigned locker, look at the slip of paper they give you, it will tell you which one. Also, they have an arcade room, a magicquest something shop, ice cream place and a place to get burgers and chicken tenders etc. If you stay the night I can see where it would be alot, and I mean alot of money spent! read more

My family of 10 has been going here for vacation every year for the last 5 years. This is the first time where I might decide not to return. We got to the hotel around 1pm, checked in is at 4pm but we got our pool passes and spent the time in the water park. We always see if our rooms are ready early and usually it is, this year we had a new baby so we checked to see if we could get our room 1 hour early. The rooms were not ready so we decided to get food and wait till 4. At 4 our rooms still were not ready. I went to the desk and asked how much longer they said they were in the final stages of inspection and shouldn't be longer than a few minutes. 4:15 came and went we were not given our rooms till 4:30. We paid a lot for these rooms and everyone was restless so time was of the essence. We showered and headed to bowling, half way through the game a fire alarm went off and we have to evacuate for about 45 min. Went back to finish our game and decided to try the golf they just added. Unfortunately the circuit blew and was not working to play golf for the night. Whatever right? So we went to the arcade and we have always had a great time there playing the games and usually winning mostly everything . This year not so much so we really were banking on the prizes in the ticket redemption center. Well, it was empty and had only one thing with great wolf lodge on it. Very disappointing. We were hoping to go to the buffet after the arcade but because of the fire alarm taking up so much time we didn't have time to do that before it closed. After a disappointing day we went to sleep only to find the pull out couch was basically not-useable the springs were so hard and loud it was pointless to sleep on . To top it off At 5 am we hear delivery trucks one after the other backing up beeping and hydraulic lifts that lasted an hour and a half. Finally decided to just get up and get coffee to realize they don't take Mobil orders at the DD so we waited in a very long line to get coffee and a few sandwiches which were cold!!! I am so disappointed in this trip we really loved coming here over the last 5 years but I think we will skip next year and get an Airbnb instead. read more

Had a great weekend getaway here with the family! Our kids are 4 and 3 and they had a blast. Though a lot of things were closed or full because renovation or COVID, we still managed to have a good time. I love how there is an outdoor section as well as the indoor water park. The indoor water park is huge and there are different sections for all ages. They also give you towels at the water park so don't bring any! We also spent a ton of time at the arcade and with the small activities they had planned around the resort such as arts and crafts time (drawing with markers and making pins) and their story time and dance parties. Make sure to get in line early for Dunkin as it does tend to get crowded. Not too many options for food here- just pizza and salads from Hungry as A Wolf and then buffet style at Loose Moose which is $17 for breakfast and $20 for dinner. If you're not into the food at the hotel, there is a center close by with Sonic, BK, Taco Bell, IHOP and a few other restaurants. We ate at Huntsman Grill which is a short 2 min drive from the hotel. There is also a Walmart there in case you forgot anything for your trip. Our room was pretty clean which I was definitely hesitant about given some of the pictures I saw online of bed bugs and roaches. I do wish the toilets were a little stronger and the water pressure in the showers were better but at least we had a clean room! We had booked a king fireplace room with two queen beds and it was just enough space for the four of us. Our couch was also a pull out bed but we didn't really use it. Hotel service was quick. We needed extra toilet paper and towels and they were brought to us quickly and they gave us more than we needed which was super nice of them. Check in was fairly easy. They use wrist bands to unlock the rooms and you can also use these to pay for items as well on the property. Check out was not needed as they say this is automatic. We did pay for the 2pm check out ($60) our last day and our bands had to be continually scanned in order for us to get back in our room but we are definitely glad we did it so we weren't rushed to leave. A weekend or 3 days max I feel like is plenty of time to do everything at this hotel so I wouldn't recommend staying longer (especially because one night is already pricey)! I do wish they offered a washer or dryer machine here or some type of ventilation in the rooms because our towels and swimsuits and showers made it a big muggy even though we tried to dry them on our balcony but you can't win them all! read more

Wow I hate to say this but Great Wolf has gone down hill in a slow stead incline. From the interior tons of cracks and I know they are doing somewhat of a face lift. This facelift is not going to be enough. The rooms looking rough and main carpets going to the rooms are heavily stained. Also the system they are using to collect dirty clothes and trash is horrible they make the hallways to the rooms a maze trashed plied high and dirty linens everywhere. As for the food the pizza is the best but for their main restaurant the Loose Moose the food has gone dropped to the floor dinner was terrible and bland some of the food was outright sour. Several years back they had really good food Im sad. The breakfast was way better and enjoyable. Also the pool area many of the table pool side have been removed so there not too many places to sit and put your stuff down. read more

Wine may have been involved when I decided to book a weekend trip with the family... Warning... You are going to spend bank... like $400+ a night! No joke, and that is just for the room and water park passes. My bank account will definitely need to recover from our weekend. Bright side, my two kids (1 and 8 year old) had a BLAST! We arrived Friday early afternoon prior to our check-in @4PM, to let the kids play and splash around in the water park area. The check-in process was easy and the staff seemed friendly, for the most part. When I finally got the text stating our room was ready, we loaded up and got settled before returning back to the waterpark area. If you never been here before, be prepared to get LOST-- I did, multiple times. Saturday came around, got up, and back to the waterpark we went. The food onsite was really good, but pricey. They also have a full service bar- which is nice for the parents. I especially loved the water rides and the "kiddie" area for the littler ones. My eight year old did his thing, and it would be hours before he came to check-in with us, there is just SO much to do. Around 4PM Saturday my son was completely broken out in some weird rash- no clue if it was from the amount of chlorine in the water or what. It's never happened before. We ended up taking a break and going back to the room to go grab dinner at their restaurant downstairs--- I am just going to say this now, I am NOT a buffet person AT ALL, but the food was literally AMAZING. Pricey, but amazing. That evening, I took my 8 year old to the arcade area, which also has Laser Tag & VR; while my husband stayed in the room to put our one year old to bed. We had a lot of fun, and my son was just over the moon. We checked out Sunday afternoon, around 1PM. It was also an easy process- I literally texted "OUT", and BAM our credit card was charged from all the purchases linked to the room; which was an additional $700+, on top of the $1,000 just for the room & waterpark. I didn't get an itemized bill as to what the purchases were, I guess if I had checked out with the front desk I would have received that... Overall, we had a good time- it was defiantly busier than I had anticipated, but no biggie. Everyone seemed to semi be following the CDC guidelines. If you're planning a trip here, I would recommend bringing your own food and drinks, because everything is expensive. read more

You will not regret the amount of money you spend at this place. Now we all know family trips don't usually come cheap but I will say that GWL is worth every penny. Their customer service is top notch! They made our stay and check-in super easy and with 11 people in our party, that could have easily been difficult. I honestly can't think of anything negative to think of because they have gone the extra mile to pay attention to all the little details that make a family trip easy. -check-in was super easy/quick -the wrist bands serve as your room key so you'll never get all the way to your room and realize the key isn't working or you misplaced it -there is something to do for children of all ages. Our group ranged from 2 years old - 42 years old and everyone had a blast (swimmers and non swimmers) -spin machine for wet clothes in the locker room was a great idea -there are activities outside of water park like story time, yoga and the MagiQuest -the food at Dublin Donuts wasn't over priced just because it was located conveniently inside the hotel -Walmart is a 2 minute drive away if you forget necessities -free wolf ears for all visitors -they texted me multiple times to see if I needed anything -when we did request extra towels and sheets there was someone at the room within 10 minutes If you're thinking about going, DO IT!
