Gotta say that this place rocks! Can't believe I waited all this time to come visit this amazing vacation getaway. Brought the mom, missus, and kids here on a Sunday and had such a blast! Even though check in for rooms is 4 pm, you can get to GWL early and use the water park! Score!!! A one night stay gives you two full days of water park fun!!! My son tried the Magiquest game, and also played laser tag. We dined off property, but there are plenty of options if you decide to eat at GWL. Can't wait to go back and maybe even check out other Great Wolf Lodge locations! Wolf out!

I've been driving past this for like 20 years and saying I want to stay. Well, now I have a daughter so we came to get away and try to do something easy and fun for the weekend. My daughter is 15-months old so she's not really old enough for this place, but, we thought it would be fun to let her see and people watch. The rooms are stale and in need of some update and TLC - the floors in our room were nasty and sticky and my daughter's feet were filthy... gross. Check-in was easy enough - they have staff standing around to assist and we must've arrived at the perfect time on a Friday before a huge rush bc we just walked right up and used a self check-in kiosk and were done in like 5 minutes. We stayed in a loft room on the 4th floor with a queen bed upstairs and two downstairs. We did this since my mom came with us to help so it was perfect. One of the TV remotes didn't work at all, for a water park hotel they didn't have any hooks in the bathroom for towels or suits which is weird... The hotel needs new furniture and carpet and drapes - it just smells musty and moldy. We all sneezed all weekend in the room - so that made me think it's def. moldy. Food is sub-par - pizza and burgers and fried chicken sandwiches. It's pretty pricey and not good options. All this and I did enjoy the water park - I thought that was well-done and we had fun with our daughter and the slides and all the various water areas. The staff there were all excellent so this pulled them up from probably 1.5 stars to 3 overall. If I go back, it'll likely be for a day-pass for the water park for my daughter. I dislike that parking isn't free - this is an expensive place with a huge parking lot and they charge $20 a day! Insane... it's in the suburbs - this is not DC or San Francisco....

When I was a kid I'd always wonder about The Great Wolf Lodge driving past Williamsburg. Now 10 years later back in the 757 I finally got to experience it and it didn't disappoint! The place is beautiful inside and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We went on a weekday so it wasn't crowded at all. My child wasn't into the water park, but he loved the MagiQuest and arcade. I on the other hand enjoyed everything the slides, wave pool, magic quest and the arcades! I'll definitely be back!

*DAY VISIT REVIEW ONLY* Came here with the family for a day visit. We were able to get a nice seating around the pool. We enjoyed the park and water slides. We got food (chicken nuggets and soda) for the kids. The have a Dunkin' onsite to get your coffee and donuts. They have lockers for rent to secure your items. This is a huge place and although there were quite a few folks here, it never seemed packed or crowded. They have an arcade, Laser Trail game, Mining game and other for the kids. All in all, a great swim park to bring your families for a day of wet fun!

Me, my mom, and my kids had a good time. It was our first time visiting a Great Wolf Lodge. We stayed for 2 nights. My teenagers and I were honestly underwhelmed with the tiny amount of water slides. There definitely was not enough to do for 2 days. We probably spent an hour and a half at the water park on the first day and less than 4 hours on our second day. We could have gone back on the day that we checked out but my kids were over it by then and were ready to leave. I will say that the rides they do have were a lot of fun! My kids did enjoy themselves a lot. My favorite thing was the wave pool. As with any resort, everything is very overpriced. We went to the surrounding stores and restaurants for food and anything else we needed. I also paid extra for the kids cabin just for my kids to squeeze into bed with me lol. All in all, this was a nice vacation/getaway for us.

Our family visited for my daughters 3rd birthday. We stayed for 2 nights, 3 days. Digital check in was not offered as it's advertised so we had to wait in line to check in. Our room was ready pretty quickly, which was a plus. The rooms definitely need some updating. They were nice enough, but definitely haven't been renovated/updated in quite some time. All the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. We opted to not get the meal plan due to so many options close by. We did try the breakfast buffet on our last day. It was pretty good! It was about $60 for two adults and a child (3yrs old). The water park was nice, but definitely needs some updates as well as far as capacity. I could definitely see it getting overcrowded during the warmer months. The changing room is super small and does not accommodate more than two or three families. For me, it was a "been there, done that" experience. I don't have to go back in this lifetime.

Sorry, only had pics w my kids in them- edited them out w my extraordinary skills lol

We stayed one night and two days here bc my family live near by and we were really staying w them. My younger kids wanted to try the room that had a separate, tiny area w bunk beds and some other fun elements. I thought it was pretty pricy for being off season and a weeknight. We did the deal for one night and two days swimming. We did not eat on property, but opted to go to a local Chinese place that we had been wanting to try. They do have a lot of food and other fun stuff around the property, so really, if you never wanted to leave, you wouldn't have to. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and nice and warm the pool/swimming areas are. We went in late September and it was too cold outside, but really nice in the indoor area. My kids are very strong swimmers, but I saw a ton of kids there, smaller and bigger, who all seemed to be enjoying themselves regardless of their swim skill level. I do recommend this location bc we had a great time. As far as the hotel part- I wouldn't stay again myself, only bc I kept comparing the price to what I spend at places in the same price range, and I just thought the room price was too much for only 5 ppl. I just didn't see the value. The pool areas- like a day pass, I'd def recommend and be down for that again. My kids had a blast and I had a nice time reading and relaxing in the nice, warm seating areas provided by the pool stuff. Sorry, I didn't remember to take a picture of the room without a lot of family in them and my pool pics were filled w family too. I'll try to be better about remembering to take pictures without my family in them for yelp reviews lol.

This is my second Great Wolf, this one is an older one located near Williamsburg. My first was the brand new one located in Northern Maryland, in Perryville. The rooms were good, the service was hotel excellent. The water park was a little older and didn't have the tiki bar in the new style. But we did have a blast, enjoying the lazy river, my nephew loved the small kiddie pool and slides. This location charged daily for parking, which was surprising. They offered all of the amenities of the other Great Wolfs. I enjoyed staying at this location for the proximity to Colonial Williamsburg and Bush Gardens. It's a decent location and the kids will enjoyed themselves. Full disclosure, the animals in my pictures are service animals and were welcomed at the Great Wolf.

    1. My little wolves got rid of their waterslide fear. 2. Amazing 5/5 experience at the hotel and waterpark. 3. Friendly, attentive staff. 4. Convenient & Accessible. 5. Great activities for kids and good food. My children were absolutely terrified of the waterslides. It took a bit of gentle convincing for a day or two, but they finally conquered their fears. I loved watching their confidence grow, which eventually turned into me turning down their attempts to go down the slides for the 555th time lol. Check-in was a breeze. Staff were very attentive. We purchased the breakfast package. The food on the buffet line as well as the omelette line were fresh as we walked through with our plates. Everything that you need is either here or near. The price may be a few dollars more but you cannot beat the convenience, especially if you drove a few hours and just want to relax. In close proximity, there is a Starbucks , Chic Fil-a, and a WalMart nearby if you choose to get those daily fixes. The activities are awesome. There's something to do almost all day and night. Overall, excellent 5/5 stay. We will be returning to Williamsburg Great Wolf Lodge?

Where we need to be in praise of and for

Maybe some type of screening process to ensure guests are protected by what they can control and not allow alien like organisms where they are subjected to potentially permanent or who knows what because they can't figure it out but I have to live with it. They will take anyone's money irregardless of what they are bringing in to your pools to share. There water quality is rated very good for known organisms. However when it comes to spreading filth from who knows where, protect your family and your children and yourself and RUN!!!!! All pictures are of different areas on both of my legs where there were no breaks in my skin or any irritations. I reported this to the front desk during my stay and they called the Virginia board of Health themselves. Go there Spend money and catch a disease

Took a three day trip with the kids (3&4y/o) to GWL and boy we had no idea what to expect but we had a great time! We checked into the Lodge and immediately received our room, and it was spacious and large with high ceilings. We walked around the Lodge and saw the bowling alley, gift store, build a bear, arcade room, and magi quest store. There was a list of activities that the resort offered throughout the day in the lobby to include bingo, dancing, meeting the lodge characters, coloring pictures, and story time. We participated in all of it to get the true experience. Kids loved all of it! Now for the main attraction, the water park! It was way bigger than what I was expecting. There was like a tree house that shot a huge bucket of water down very ten minutes or so, and there were several sections that everybody can enjoy. There was a swimming pool, a wave pool, kiddie pool with slides. Lots of huge slides for older kids and adults, an area where you can surf/water board, water basketball, ropes course, two jacuzzis, and a lazy Suzan! It was so much fun for all of us. This is something that my kids will be able to grow with as well. They keep wanting to go back and I think I will make it a yearly thing for them! Make sure to sign up for the Voyager club, so you can get discounts on your returning stay!

If one wanted to work from the room, how is the Internet here?

The internet is decent in the common areas but a little rough in your room. We found that we had to hotspot from our phone to actually get work done.

Is this really more for kids? Would it be too cheesy for me to host a 40th birthday here?

It's definitely more for kids. The arcade, bowling, build-a-bear, events, etc etc - all primarily for kids. The waterpark is fun but even that is geared toward kids without much for fun slides.

I wanted to book a weekend but someone told me it wasn't clean. I see they also say it was recently renovated is this true?

I checked in today. I saw a cockroach crawling away from my pillow to under the bed. Now I dread going to sleep tonight. I can stay duty but can't stand roaches and mice.

Is the GWL Williamsburg location decent? Have only been to Poconos location. Is the Williamsburg property in good condition?

If you're asking if it's in a bad area, it's not. As far as location, you are minutes away from a Walmart and some fast food places (Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, Taco Bell, Sonic, etc). A little further (approx 15 minutes) and you have New Town and a… Read more

Should i have a two year old party here or my kids need to be older to really enjoy it?

2 yo may enjoy some of the smaller areas but not sure if the cost would outweigh how much fun they would have. Hunch? I would look for another option.

    Is it a big waterpark?

    Yes it's something for everyone

There may be a family that benefits from housekeeping that swings a door into your feet at 9am, because they are hanging off of a creaky bed, but it certainly wasn't mine. Not that one would want a cigar after eating chocolate pudding that tastes like it was infused with Trix cereal or any of the other dishes who sacrifice taste for novelty. First of all, there was an instruction card that came with the reservation however while it did indicate that there is a backdoor, it did not inform that this was the 'main' entrance. There is very limited parking and if you want to park across at the church on or the street, you are at risk of towing. They have no passes for parking in these locations. The beds are their own issue. If you are vertically challenged, you will have great difficulty getting into the main beds. We stayed in a 'suite' (I use this term laughingly as it was just two connecting rooms) that had another room with twin beds. While the main bed seemed to have a mattress from the last century, the twin beds were ancient. The "pillows" that they give you are quite literally flatter than a pancake they would serve you for breakfast. The suite we stayed in was in the front of the house and there is no insulation to cancel ANY of the traffic noises from outside. It was very very stuffy inside and I wasn't able to open a window. We asked for a step stool and were given one that wasn't even as high as a normal step on a staircase. It was still very difficult to get in to the bed. At no time while I was there did I see, hear or meet the host/hostess of the B&B. The only time we met any employee was in the morning during breakfast. These ladies were AMAZING. They almost made up for the lack of any other service or greeting in their friendliness. The breakfast was late the day I was there. There are signs everywhere stating that it would be served at 8:30 but it was closer to 9:30. I'm an early riser so this was a bit of an inconvenience. At least the coffee was available. They had eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, cereal etc. It was set up as a buffet style in a very stylish area of the serving area. The dining room table is gorgeous but there are no placemats to put your plates on, I felt very worried about scratching this gorgeous table. The non guest rooms were fit with comfy areas to just relax and chill after a day of being a tourist. The furniture may not have been the most comfortable, but given how cozy each area was this was easily forgiven. I really enjoyed that each room had a Christmas tree already set up. This is not very handicapped friendly as no matter which way you enter, there are very old steps. The front steps were especially bad. To sum up; Parking; F Comfort; B Room Comfort: C+ Breakfast: A Location: A- Price: C (for our experience it was really really pricey)

(This visit was made during the times of Covidious earlier this month. When things return to a look…read moreof normality - your experience likely will vary.) So, if you've ever been to Colonial Williamsburg and needed a place to stay, you know that every hotel chain on planet earth has one of their lower tiered brands on Bypass Road and/or some timeshares in the nearby vicinity. But if you really want to be "close to the action", you can stay a CW affiliated property and the most unique of the lot are the Colonial Houses. Let me start by saying that the hardest part of this experience is simply knowing what choices you have. Why? In 2021 I think it's safe to say that most people when they reserve a room like to see an actual or generalized picture of said accommodations along with a basic idea of where the actual property is located. If you want that here, good f-ing luck because it doesn't exist. How it works: Go to their website and put in your dates of stay along with the number of people in your party. Available Colonial House properties show up along with pricing and then you choose one. What's crazy is that CW on their website doesn't offer a map of where their Colonial House properties are located nor do all of the properties offer any pictures as to what the rooms look like or even what the property looks like. What's even crazier is that when you cross-reference that concept with the dough that they charge, it's a hell of a leap of faith for something that you can't fully research before they expect you to plunk down $400 or more. We stayed at the Nicholas-Tyler Laundry which is across the street from the Magazine and on the grounds of the Williamsburg Lodge (which by the way is where you check in for all Colonial Houses). Why this one? A lot of the Colonial House properties are on the smaller side and when you go above two people you knock out a good number of places which for the most part leaves only entire houses and that's where things start to get really pricey even in the off season and on shoulder nights. Nicolas-Tyler has two floors and overall is nicely appointed. The house has two dedicated parking spaces near the house at the far side of the main Wiliamsburg Lodge parking lot. The houses's first floor has a sitting area with small TV and a working fireplace that the housekeeping staff will light if it's below 50 degrees. There is a also a small dorm style fridge oddly placed in a random corner. There is a king sized bed and full bathroom as well. The 2nd floor has a couch, pull out trundle bed and two twin sized beds that are rock hard. There is also another bathroom and shower that are very interesting to use since the pitch of the roof encroaches on the head space big time (i.e. don't be too tall or else showering is borderline impossible). The main view from the back side of the house is of the Magazine and the Courthouse and if you're a CW lover, that can't be beat. With all this there needs to be some context. This house is not one of the original 88 but everything (aside from the TV's/fridge) are dated to look period appropriate. The pricing as I mentioned is super steep. A bit north of $400 for a one night Sunday stay during a sleepy time of March is nuts and at best is a one off gimmick that while nice, is seriously uaffordable to re-do with any kind of frequency let alone some of their other offerings that breach the $500 or $600 per night plateau. If you're looking for value, obviously this isn't it. But if you're looking for a special occasion splurge or something unique for a CW lover then this is it.

WARNING WARNING WARNING Don't Stay Here!!!…read moreWe stayed November 7 thur 14 2025. The bed was comfortable, and the location was good. It goes downhill from there. Very basic unit, no frills. Windows were sealed and unabled to be opened. The toilets were extremely low, as though they were made for children. There were no handrails making it difficult for a 77 year old to get up. Also, there were no handrails in the shower, a large safety concern. The wifi was very slow when it worked, usually non-existent. I now see from other reviews that this is not a new issue. Management just doesn't care. The TV pixelated constantly, making watching it impossible. I spoke with staff numerous times and the issue was never resolved. Tiny kitchen, everything miniature, few accruments. Coffee pot needed cleaning to the point that coffee from it was undrinkable. Whoever purchased the sofa obviously never sat on it for more than 5 minutes, very uncomfortable. No washer and dryer in unit. There is no hot tub on property. The unit needed a good cleaning. You could write in the dust on the bathroonm cabinet shelves. They also charge an unadvertized "daily resort fee". My best guess is that the property is an old hotel converted to Bluegreen's idea of a resort. No comparison to real resorts we have stayed previously, would not stay here again. Bluegreen shoud be ashamed and embarrassed.

Instead, they charged a second $99, totaling $300 for a room I never stayed in. Customer service refused to help or correct the issue. Be careful -- they use misleading fee structures and zero accountability.
