We've been coming to Greek House Cafe for years, and it's always consistently great. I had the vegetarian gyro and my wife had the chicken gyro. I asked for a couple of customizations to my order, and they were able to accommodate without any issues. The food is consistently good, and so is the service. Misael was especially helpful, taking the time to explain the vegetarian and vegan options, which isn't always easy to find at restaurants. We got a Veggie Combo Plate and Fish & Chips on June 27th and both meals were very good. We got the same meal today and it's terrible. it's like the food came from a completely different restaurant. My fish was burnt black and very dry. Last time the chips (fries) were golden brown and very tasty. This time they were dry and tasteless - as though they'd been fried twice. My meal wasnt edible and cost $20.00. I don't know if the place changed hands in the lady two weeks or whether it was a different cook but I would NOT have served this meal to a customer. read more

The menu and service here is amazing. The servers are friendly and helpful. They check on you often and our beverages are never empty. The food never disappoints. The gyro is always tasty. The seasonings are perfect and its always cooked just right. The meat is tender, no matter what part of the spit it is shaved from. The salad is fresh and crisp. The avgolemono soup is my favorite. It is warm and tangy and perfect on a summer day. Another table ordered saganaki and they did present it very well by turning off the lights to get the full effect. I have yet to order it at this location but I am sure it is phenomenal as the table ordered another. Not a bad place. I love seeing a Greek restaurant that serves saganaki. The spinakopita was excellent. Probably my favorite dish. I also ordered the gyro pizza. The meat and flavor was good, but it didn't work as a pizza. It needed a meltier cheese to bind everything. Every time I'd pick up a slice, the toppings would just tumble off. Its been many years since i was last here. I think it was a different Greek restaurant back then. (I later found out that it is the same family, and the son took over, and made it into more of a sit down restaurant) We walked in and was greeted with the desserts in the cabinet. That's dangerous! We sat and ordered. I had the Gyros wrap lunch combo. My wife ordered the gyros plate. We also got the Calamari appetizer. That was amazing! It was very fresh. My Gyros wrap was large, stuffed full, and very tasty. My wife's plate was equally large. She asked for rice and was mistakenly given fries. She mentioned it, and immediately got a plate of rice with no discission. That's how a correction should be done. So the service was great, the food was great and we definitely enjoyed our meal. I have been searching for a Greek restaurant, that is worthy of repeat visits in either LA or the SFV and the environs. Actually, I have never found one. Maybe, I am dumb. After spending 13 years in Chicago, dining on Halsted Street, a Mecca for dynamic Greek establishments, one after the other, I was getting covertly restless. The Greek House Cafe, in Simi Valley, maybe my sought after salvation. It is served by the young attractive couple, Joshua and Rey. At the onset, one needs to know, unless I missed it, the menu has flaws. It doesn't show what sides or soups are offered. The soup I chose was the lemon orzo rice, nice texture, but too much lemon, I had to send it back. For a substitute, Rey suggested "the village salad, just like you would have it in Greece". Never heard of it. Essentially, no romaine, just vegetables and a small slab of cheese. Wow. Excellent. I must say, a first time for me. I have never been suggested this salad in any Greek restaurant. This is the one to order. Well, before that, I did have the Greek salad, a standard concoction at all Greek eateries. My main was the Gyros Plate, shaved off a running spit, browned on the grill. This was amazing, different level. Gyros were thick strips. Think of it like the thick bacon. Unique. Most Greek restaurants give you thin strips. I'm not complaining. I'm just saying that this place is different. Very flavorful. Wonderfully prepared. Customer service was exceptional. Only our favorite Greek restaurant in Simi Valley because it is simply delicious! We hadn't been in a year and still enjoyed the same quality and service. Though we did get confused by how to order and thought something changed when we sat ourselves down and no one approached us for the first 5 minutes. So when I saw the sign "order here" I didn't think it was only for take out as it didn't specify. Our food came out in to go boxes but we told them we intended to dine in, and the server seemed annoyed. Perhaps a sign clarification might help?
