SO CUTE! If you're a fellow lover of Hello Kitty and Friends, this little patio cafe is a fun stop. My strawberry mint lemonade was as refreshing as it was adorable on this unusually hot Los Angeles day. Each member of my group got a different pastry so we could experience them all. Favorite by far was the cute little white cake with strawberry filling and red candy bows. The others had a filling of apples and spices and were also delicious. Service was quick and friendly. For all you Hello Kitty lovers, parking will cost you $40 just to get to this place, BUT there are absolutely NO lines in this cafe OR the giftshop. In fact the girl in our group felt like she had the whole place to herself, because she totally did. There were only a couple of people outside eating, other than that the place is yours! It doesn't matter; they are connected to each other, and they are a duo, so it is an experience to do both. If you come to the cafe, make sure to check out the store next door; it is cute and full of so much Hello Kitty stuff. It is on the small side but is full of Hello Kitty, everyone, and is a Hello Kitty fan's best wish come to life. We ordered a second drink and specifically asked for light ice, but it came completely full of ice. When we politely mentioned it, we were told "oh sorry, can't remake it, maybe next time," which was pretty disappointing. For the price of these drinks, I expected a little more care and better customer service. As a lover of Sanrio and all things pink, I give the Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe a 5 for ambience, decor, and overall cuteness! Service I've received has been pleasant, nothing really noteworthy as you just place your order at the register and wait to pick up your items. The food and drinks themselves though are honestly disappointing as everything is tooth-rottingly sweet. Besides the novelty and appeal of Hello Kitty and Friends, I'm not sure that I would actually order anything here to enjoy, but they do make for cute pictures. I have had some drinks and pastries at other locations that were definitely more edible, so I hope some of those might come to Citywalk at some point. I hate it when macarons are dried and crunchy, and these were nice and soft with a tiny bit of chew. The cake was also moist and tasty. There was a lot of frosting, but it was a rich white chocolate ganache, which was tastier to me than the typical fluffy frosting. This location is on the city walk before you enter the park so I always grab a drink and bite after my day at the park since I don't think they would let u bring it into the park. Around 8:30 pm I ordered the hello kitty lemonade ($8) and churro($9 very overpriced). They give you a buzzer and it is a fast turnaround time! Their seating is only outdoors. As an ube aficionado, I was excited to try the Kuromi Mousse Dome. It's supposed to an ube mousse over white chocolate ganache with a chocolate sponge center. What I got was something that tasted NOTHING like ube -- not even a hint of it. The ganache had the texture of chalk, and the whole thing was just sad. I also ordered a seasonal strawberry soda with foam -- sounded fun, but it was just watery and bland. Others in my group got the Bow Bombs (hot chocolate bombs), which were decent, but nothing special. Kind of what you'd expect from a grocery store mix. We were all underwhelmed. Drinks are $10 and the cakes are more; they are super delicious. You place your order and wait for your buzzer to buzz. Not exactly being waited on by a giant Hello Kitty, which is what I had anticipated. The shop has some cute stuff I don't see everywhere. Robbie B tip: get your drinks and desserts, and take them to the Crepe Cafe for lunch -- they are used to it and they don't mind -- it's directly across from the Hello Kitty Cafe.
