I I stopped by this location for my lunch break. I wasn't particulary hungry for a whole meal, so I ordered sides and asked for a side of Orzo. There was a huge tin full amount in front of me on the counter. I asked the gentleman serving the food if I could have a side of it. He said no, that side of Orzo's are in the cooler behind me. I told him I wanted it from the batch in front of me (that was freshly made), and he repeated himself again that the sides will come from the cooler. Needless to say, I didn't buy the Orzo from the cooler and just went with the soup. Even though the food is good, the service is rude enough for me not to recommend it to anyone else. read more

I love Med Kitchen! I went there for the first time today with a friend for lunch and loved it! A nice addition to this area of the loop and much better than Haifa Cafe on Wells. I can't comment on everything, but I tried the Greek salad with chicken kabob on top. It was really yummy! The ingredients were fresh and the chicken was very flavorful and not dry like most kabobs are. The Greek dressing was good, but didn't blow me away. I would definitely have it again though. I really liked the layout of the place too, nice and big with ordering similar to chipotle. I enjoyed the atmosphere, tall ceilings, somewhat modern decor, nice music. I work at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, and I love the Greek Kitchen. But Margaret A who works on the register has a real bad attitude. I had stopped going there because of her nasty attitude and decided that I would go in to get some breakfast today. I got there at 6:59a.m. I went in at 7:00am and I was told we don't open for two minutes. I waited and in two minutes she went in the back got coffee and started stocking the counters. After the two minutes I explained to her that with any business that she be done before opening. She gave me this smart comment and said now we are open. Her attitude is always bad and if she does not like working with people or getting up in the morning, then she should find another job. Northwestern Hospital is a busy place and no one wants to be greatly like that in the morning. read more

GRK is a regular lunch spot for me - it's pretty good. I usually stick to the Greek Salad, which is large, a lot of meat, and great dressing. While the food was decent, the service was terrible. I placed an online order at 11:50 for pick up at 12:20. I walked into the restaurant at 12:15 and got yelled at by the manager because they hadn't yet received my order when I told them that I had ordered online. Now, I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure if I order online through your website, the fault is not mine. When they did make my food, it was sloppily thrown together, the spicy feta was scooped on top where it would sit in a clump, the spicy red sauce was thrown on so that there was none on one end and all of it on the other. Grk Kitchen is a little better than Roti, but they are not very catering towards their customers. All of the plate protein options (except steak) are the same price - I asked for 1/2 vegetables and 1/2 pork and they refused to do this without charging me extra. Chipotle allows you to get 1/2 chicken 1/2 steak for no extra charge. So while Grk kitchen is ok in terms of taste, customer service (in my opinion) is #1 and they don't do a very good job at it. read more

I was here yesterday (7-31-2015) around lunch time and it was pretty busy but fast. They were friendly enough, but you did feel rushed when ordering. Ehh. Greek salad wasn't anything exciting and the falafel was dry. What really bothered me was how rude the check out girl was. I ordered a drink to get iced tea. As I paid the took away the iced tea so I asked if they were making more and the girl responded with "no". That's it. It's the middle of lunch rush and no..? Then she said we can give you your money back so I said ok and filled my cup with water and she said well now we have to charge you bc that isn't a water cup. Are you kidding me??!! Fresh, fast, authentic and delicious. All perfect words to describe Med Kitchen. Their food has a Lebanese/Greek flair for those well-versed in Mediterranean cuisine... so it's a beautiful blend of simple spices for the meats (olive oil, garlic, touch of lemon), an array of fresh cut vegetables, a delicious orzo pasta (unfortunately for me I spend some time picking out the black olives), and a few sauces (tzatziki, hummus) to choose from. Med Kitchen is pretty darn good. I ordered a gyro on wheat pita with tomatoes and cucumber, lettuce and feta cheese. I walked in so hungry that I could barely see straight so I totally forgot to get sauce, which was kind of a bummer but the sandwich was still really good and very filling. I'm a long time Hubs customer so you can imagine my excitement to find out that Med Kitchen was associated by Hubs. Working in the Loop your Gyros choices are somewhat limited, there is G&G, Maxes etc.. but none of them rank in the class of Hubs, Nicks, or Kings on NW side. Med Kitchen is a well thought out layout a good amount of seating, and very modern looking, if it wasn't for the seeing the owner of Hubs at the front of the order line I would have never placed it as Hubs 2.0. On a side note It was great seeing him he looks like he hasn't aged a day since I was in HS, which was a very long time ago lol. Ordering is like I Dream of Falafel, Chipotle, Potbelly, and any other well ran place. It was really fast to get through the food line and pay. The gyros meat was fresh, moist, thinly sliced, and very good tasting as to be expected from Hubs, it should be said that they were not shy with the meat either. A sandwich was packed with enough meat to fill me up and I usually eat a bit more than I should, no need for fries or sides with this its enough food. If you've been the Waste of Chicago picture a gyros from there with about 10x more meat. A previous reviewer said that Pita was not an option, I don't know when this has changed but they did have pita and it was good. My topping was spicy feta, which I've never had before and it took a great gyros to the next level. This makes me wonder where has this creamy / spicy goodness been all my life, why have I been deprived of such a perfect gyros topping. One of my co-workers is telling me to try the chicken, I don't know if I could set foot in there and order anything other than a gyros. I'm sure I'm missing out on some other great food but this gyros is making me question how much I like the mighty Kings Gyros. I'm going to have to start working out now because I sense a lot of gyros will be eaten this Summer. read more

Great to see a decent Greek place. Had the rotisserie chicken pita. Delicious with the yogurt and hot sauces. The falafel looked delicious and I will return to sample it. Love it here! They have the best salads and chicken kabobs downtown. Hummous, orzo, gyro, chicken rotisserie (don't call it shawarma!) and pork rotisserie (aka REAL Greek gyro) are all solid winners too. The Greek Salad, Village Salad, and Mediterranean salad are good quality, great portions, and reasonably priced. I appreciate that they offer the thin Lebanese style pita as an option for your sandwiches too, along with the Greek pita. Not the most authentic style definitely adds a flare of chipotle to the restaurant having all preparation in front of you. standard gyro beef flavor, good tzatziki rich and thick so it doesn't turn into a watery mess when eating. OK, this was my 2nd time at Med and this time I fared a little better. I got steak this time and it was delish! It more than made up for the bland/greasy gyro meat from earlier in the week. I avoided the hummus this time, which improved my whole experience here. Instead I tried the spicy feta, which was also good. Since I had to choose a side dish, I chose the Greek yogurt instead of hummus....meh. I think the yogurt was OK, I'm just not a fan of super tangy, plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt (I know it good for you, blah, blah, blah). Even though the steak was really good, I still can't go about 2 stars because: a) their rice is mediocre at best, how about switching to basmati rice with some stronger seasoning b) no tabbouleh c) no tabbouleh! (why would you feature baba ganoush and not tabbouleh?) d) their pita bread is just not right. it seems dumbed down and buttered up for mass consumption e) that bad hummus! f) tomato and cucumber salad needs more spices and vinegar g) I'm not sure I'll be back after I use my last coupon, even though this is very close to my office read more

This place is outstanding.....I was considering hopping on the bus and going to Greek Town as I was in the mood for a gyro....my co-worker told me about this place....so I figured I'd give it a try. (and I have since been back 2 more times within a week) Service is very friendly, the restaurant is super clean. The gyro I had, was amazing..you get the option of either a white or wheat pita, or a Lebanese wrap (I went with the traditional pita). I got the lamb/beef meat combo with cucumber & tomato, onion, tzatziki sauce, and spicy red....and got this for under $7, and that is tough to find in the loop My co-worker went with the chicken in a Lebanese wrap with a lot of the same toppings.....both of us could not stop raving about it for the last couple days.... And they have a frequent eater card.....buy 8 and the 9th is free. read more

Great fresh food - healthy salads or a roll up. So first you make that format choice, pick your fillings, add some toppings, maybe throw in some extras (fries, and more fillings) and you are good to go. When getting the salad we ask for it in a take out container (even when eating there) so you can add the dressing and close the top and shake it up - works every time!
