We asked Google to recommend a restaurant near our destination and Sinya was one of several recommended. Really glad we picked it. Service was friendly and didn't take long. Inside was nice and spacious, and moderately busy at about 1pm, but not loud. My wife had a veggie combo plate with hummus, tabouli, baba ghanoush, stuffed grape leaves, and falafel. I had the chicken kabob, which came with rice, salad, and hummus. Both came with some pita. Portions were generous. The food was delicious. I especially liked that though the chicken had some tasty crunchy fragrant char on the outside it was still moist inside. The baba ghanoush had a really good smokey flavor. Everyone around us seemed to be eating the wraps, so I guess they're good (or it's because they're about half the price of the entrees), but we were very happy with what we had. Food, service, ambience was a delight. We ordered the Chicken shawarma plate and Chicken kebobs plate, side portion of 6 pieces falafel. Huge portion size. The chicken shawarma plate was a bit disappointing. Since the chicken lacked flavor, the shredded pieces which go inside the shawarma roll was served along with the rice. It was no fun. Go for the falafel, baba ghanoush and hummus. It's yum! The side portion of salad served was fresh and the vinegeratte dressing perfect. Pita bread was soft. Saw an Instagram video about Sinya so decided to try it out and was genuinely impressed. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and chill music. We ordered: - Small Hummus w/Pita 8.5/10 - Gyro Entrée 8.5/10 - Mixed Shawarma Entree (Chicken & Beef) 9/10 - Iced Baklava Latte 8.5/10 Everything was great and the portions are very good for the price. The Gyro was flavorful, but I think I'm going to order a chicken shawarma plate next time. The beef was good and reminded me of jerky, not in a bad way! I personally liked the chicken more. This is the kind of restaurant that makes your belly smile, just pure happiness. We came here for my Wife's Birthday, that's how special of a place this was to her and she wanted to introduce me to this wonderful cuisine. I'm so happy she did. While I was eating, I was on top of the world. I literally was thinking that I wanted to go here for my birthday now... it was that good. It was the kind of place that I want to introduce my entire family and friends to. I can't hype them up enough. The Hummus... to die for. We had two different plates/meats with rice. Stopped by Sinya on Hubbard for lunch and it did not disappoint! My daughter and I split the mixed shawarma entrée -- perfectly seasoned, tender, and just the right portion to share. I visited the one in the River North area, but they have two locations; the other is in Roscoe village at 3224 N Damen. what I was impressed with the most was how fresh the food was. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has been to a Mediterranean restaurant and had food that tasted processed and like it came from a box out of the grocery store. Not here! Everything I had tasted fresh - from the sauces to the salad dressing to the hummus, the falafel, and even the virgin strawberry Mojito! The hummus was so creamy and the meats were seasoned very well! I tried Knafeh for the first time and it's definitely a new favorite dessert! Initially I was apprehensive about trying it, but once I did, I was like wow! It uses pastry, strands, a sweet cheese and a sweet syrup. You can even add a scoop of ice cream to it if you'd like! It's only available at the River North location from 4 PM to 10 PM. Definitely a must try! And that coffee you see is my Apple Pie Latte! Talk about tasty! It's made with apple butter and cinnamon brown sugar honey. They're for sure one of my new top favorite Mediterranean restaurants in the Chicago area. I used to only order delivery from this spot and was always pleasantly surprised by how fresh, delicious, and healthy the food tasted. Yesterday was my first time dining in and it impressed me even more. It is a true all-day café with very affordable prices. They open early in the morning and stay open late, which really makes them stand out compared to most all-day cafés that close much earlier. The space is beautiful and modern with a strong nature theme. There are plenty of plants and botanical motifs on the walls, which creates a calm and refreshing atmosphere. Everything is very clean and the staff are attentive and welcoming. The food is just as great in person as it is for delivery. Fresh, light, flavorful, and healthy. There is plenty of seating inside (15-20 tables) and it is a hybrid between a restaurant and a cafe. I ordered delivery from Sunday Sinya and this place has promise. I had 2 things, the falafel sandwich and the pistachio latte. Falafel sandwich was pretty good, given it's not fresh by the time you receive delivery. It held up relatively well. I can imagine it being that much better if having it fresh. I didn't like the pickles in my sandwich, but didn't think I was given a choice. The falafel was nice and the rest was fine. I'm the two sauces are really good. I had the hot sauce and tahini sauce. Both are really good, though I had to pay for it, which was a bummer. Each entree should come with sauce, IMHO. Ok, and the pistachio latte was truly amazing. Again, with delivery, it wasn't hot anymore. I nuked it for 30 seconds, which helped. I didn't want to go longer, because I think that ruins the foam and all. Not sure. But this was a coffee like over never had. And I've had the pista latte at Starbucks and so and it just doesn't hold a caudle of hope to this. Just rich flavor and delish. Super cute cafe in River north with delicious food and generous portion sizes! We ordered the falafel plate, baba ganoush, impossible Kefta wrap, and waffles fries. I really loved the falafel plate! Chicago lacks many options for good Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food. However, I think that Sinya in River North is trying to change all of that. It's located in part of the old Three Greens Market location at the corner of Hubbard and Kingsbury. First, the food was delicious. I ordered the gyro entree, beef shawarma, kunafa, mint mojito and a charcoal latte. Each of the entrees came with a side salad and hummus. I also got some pita bread. The gyro was tender and delicious. I also liked the beef shawarma. Both are must orders. Both of the entrees are huge and more than a meal each. Second, the service was great. The process is that you order at the counter, you take a seat and they bring the food to you. The staff is friendly and my food came out fast and hot, especially the kunafa as it was the perfect temperature for a nice cheese pool. Third, the ambiance is amazing and the decor is beautiful. The entire restaurant is bright and colorful. The colors worked perfectly to make me feel like I was in actually in the Mediterranean. I hate having to write this review because up until today I loved this place. But I have never had such a bad/weird experience picking up an order. I went to pick up our order and the young woman up front said it was not ready. I sat down for a couple of minutes. Uber Eats kept saying our order was ready. I finally realized the order was under my husband's first name, not last. So, I went back up and said actually the order is under FIRST NAME. She said, oh yeah, your husband picked it up. I said no he didn't. I just dropped him off at home and told him I would grab dinner. She kept trying to convince me that he did. I said that was not possible. (We live about ten minutes away.) She clearly did not believe me. She said she had to talk to someone else. Another 5-6 minutes, she is speaking with a guy behind the counter, and they still have not given me any sort of update. I went up and asked. The guy (manager?) questioned me about what our order was. I told him and also pulled it up on the Uber Eats app to show him. The young woman behind the counter clearly screwed up and gave our order to someone else, but there was zero ownership of her error. She was now insisting that there must be someone else with the same first name, last initial, and same order. I've been here for about 30 minutes at this point. The guy said they would remake our order, and it would be another 8-10 minutes. I erred on the side of caution and waited in my car for 10 minutes. Went inside again, the young woman at the counter said it's not ready when she saw me. I asked her if she could ask for an estimate. She went in back, returned, and said the guy would help me. Another 10 minutes or so, and he finally brings me the order and questions me AGAIN about what items should be in there. So after about 50 minutes total, I finally have my order. Never received an apology from either of the two people who were "helping" me, and somehow felt like they were trying to make me feel like this was my fault. This is beyond bad customer service. It's gaslighting their patrons to avoid admitting they made a mistake. So disappointing. read more
