Gyro, chicken souvlaki, seafood platter, Greek salad, hummus and roasted egg plant.

Greek food at Edgewater, NJ Ordered online and took out the food. Once food is ordered they tell you when it could be picked up and their is a parking space in front of the restaurant. Their hummus and roasted eggplant were fresh and delicious with pita breads. The Greek salad was so so. The falafel and chicken souvlaki platter were on the dry side. But we enjoyed gyro and seafood platter. The octopus was very tender and tasty.

Really good food, good service and great location by the water. Our family came here for Mother's Day lunch and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I knew that the restaurant was relatively low-key and seemingly not super popular due to the fact that there were many open reservation slots available on Resy, but, it actually got quite busy by the time we left. We came in for an 11:30am reservation and the restaurant was pretty much empty at the time. What I did love was the interior decor and how it brought me back to when I visited Santorini and Mykonos a decade ago. Literally everything in the restaurant was white, except the blue chairs. I saw on Yelp that they had done a significant reno years ago, so it definitely paid off. Service was quick throughout our lunch and we were served our food very quickly. Here's a quick run through of what we ordered: SEAFOOD PLATTER (FOR TWO) - OCTOPUS, CALAMARI & GRILLED JUMBO SHRIMP SERVED WITH LEMON OLIVE DRESSING -- Really, really good. The seafood was fresh and there was plenty of it - although a lot more of the calamari than anything else. We definitely could have used more octopus and shrimp, but a solid starter nevertheless. GYRO PLATTER - HOMEMADE GYROS SERVED WITH PITA BREAD, TZATZIKI, SALAD AND HAND-CUT FRIES -- This entree was HUGEEEE. I wasn't expecting such a massive serving, but it easily could have fed 2 people. The gyro was excellent and so was the simple salad. I loved that they gave a nice portion of tzatziki, WHICH you can use for the complimentary bread that they give you at the start of your meal. CHICKEN SOUVLAKI - MARINATED CHUNKS OF CHICKEN ON A SKEWER GRILLED OVER CHARCOAL, SERVED WITH RICE -- The rice was good, but, the chicken was absolutely on the dry side. It was too be expected. I was hesitant to order this, but we figured our kids could share it since it was chicken. COLOSSAL TIGER PRAWNS WITH HERB RICE AND BROCCOLI -- There were 4 prawns in total, split in half, and my wife loved the flavors of it. I had 1 of the prawns and thought it was really good too. However, it was advertised as "COLOSSAL" and they didn't seem that colossal. Also, for $38, it would have been nice to have gotten 2-3 more prawns on the plate. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here. The flavors of the food were excellent, but we just wish we had more of it, especially the octopus in the seafood platter and prawns in the entree. Definitely a restaurant to visit if you're looking for a low-key, yet delicious meal.

The food was fresh & delicious, the service by Caesar was great, the decor and ambiance was excellent (the place is spotless, the authentic Greek music was playing at the proper volume). A wonderful dining experience! I had the Greek salad, with warm pita bread, and baklava for dessert.

Good food, friendly servers, nice relaxed atmosphere. I love that they are byob, so you can bring what you like to drink and are not limited by only what they offer. Parking is tricky here and is hard to find on a Fri night or weekend. Downstairs parking is a MUST!

The food was amazing. I had the grilled salmon entre served with a large delicious vegetable medley and rice. My companion had the whole branzino rice and broccoli. We had feta and humus and grilled octopus appetizers. Everything was wonderful. Cesar was our server and he was helpful and fun. The restaurant is cute not cutesy and feels like you could be transported to Santorini Greece. We loved it. Thanks to all.

The food was very tasty the shrimp and octopus were really delicious. The tzatziki sauce was spot on. Salad was good. I thought the chicken skewers were okay a bit dry. The service was good and the interior was decorated nicely on the side I sat in. The ambiance was peaceful. Will be back!

Arrived for brunch the food was very good. It seemed freshly prepared and authentic. There was at least a 30 minute wait to receive the food but, everything arrived together, hot and well prepared. I ordered the spit fired gyro, it is prepared with beef and lamb. The meat was very tender and thinly sliced the tzatziki was very good, creamy and thick. It came with potatoes and cucumber salad, very fresh and a plentiful portion. The interior was well maintained, the table we sat at was nicely decorated. The service was attentive and I would return when in the area again.

Great atmosphere and service. Most of what we ate were flavorful. Recommend the risotto and the spare rib ravioli. Calamari and the octopus were very tender as well

I did a order pick up from Greek Taverna and they were pretty quick with having my order ready. I ordered the lamb gyro wrap and it was delicious. I would definitely want to order more food from them. It was my first time trying this restaurant and I really liked it. My plate was full of food and the fries were amazing. They followed instructions as requested on the app so I would say this place is a 10/10 recommendation

Stopped here for dinner on the way to dropping off family at the airport. It wasn't very busy so we were able to get a table for 5. Ambiance is pretty casual. Food was average but not very impressive.. it was an ok dinner but nothing special in our opinion.

    Petit mousaka with potato

It is a nice small Greek restaurant. The stuff is kind, fast. That small appetizer is just so great! Mousaka is my favorite there. On the photo it is with potato, but you can have it with salad, which I prefer. Food is delicious and the price is also very good. It became a regular place pretty quickly for me.

What a great place. The moussaka was the best I ever had. The ambience is pretty cozy with soft light. The owners treated me to a glass of wine And the staff was efficient and pleasant. I'll go back for more!

The interior boasted white brick walls, unique artwork, comfortable booth seating, along with plenty of tables and chairs. There was a cozy, welcoming feel to the spot. I had to try the Saganaki, which is flaming fried cheese and the waiter lit it on fire upon being served. This was such a fun dish and was melty, soft, with mild flavor. For my entree, I ordered the Lamb Chops, served with pita bread, salad, rice and tzatziki sauce. Lamb Chops were slightly charred, delightfully tender, and well seasoned. The pita bread was still warm, lightly crispy, nicely moist and paired well with the creamy tzatziki sauce. Salad was made of tomatoes and red onion was fresh with a tasty vinaigrette. I also got to sample the Moussaka and Greek Fries. Both were quite yummy. Moussaka was a beautifully composed dish with layers of succulent beef, saucy eggplant, fluffy potato, rich bechamel in a boldly flavored, savory red sauce, flanked by lemon potatoes. The Greek Fries were topped with feta cheese, oregano and other spices. These were perfectly crispy, full of wonderful potato taste. For dessert, I went with Portokalopita and Greek coffee. The Portokalopita consisted of shredded phyllo, orange, and yogurt pie. It did not taste or look like what I was expecting at all. It had a more cake like consistency and the orange flavor seemed kind of artificial. The coffee was velvety smooth and strong in a good way. Service was solid. Our waiter was personable and knowledgeable about the menu. We were well taken care of throughout our meal. I would be open to returning to try the Braised Lamb Shank.

Maybe it was restaurant fatigue / too many social obligations at restaurants not of our choosing in this neighborhood. Maybe it was a hidebound fixation with our go-tos (where our experiences have become too numerous and repetitive to re-review in any interesting way). In any event, our recent first meal at Yasouvlaki gave us pangs of regret for having waited so long. It's not an innovative kitchen -- the kind of place that might win James Beard or Michelin recognition -- but based on what we tried, the food seems to be more than competent across the board, sometimes even excellent. I probably judge every Greek or Mediterranean restaurant by the quality of their roasted or grilled branzino preparation whether I mean to or not. It's my go-to main, one that makes me really happy when it's well made. Yasouvlaki's made me happy. I do so love a whole branzino, but Yasouvlaki's filet was beautifully prepared. The fish was sweet, the skin crispy, and it was served with rice pilaf (unobjectionable) and horta (good), a traditionally prepared boiled green vegetable, here made with dandelion greens. I love a well made horta. Kudos to Yasouvlaki for making it with something other than boring ol' spinach! The grilled half of a lemon was a perfect accoutrement for the dish. Lamb chops, served with roasted potatoes and Brussels sprouts, were also well executed, grilled to a perfect medium rare as the primary consumer requested. Roasted potatoes and Brussels were wholly completely competent. (Note that Brussels were not shaved and deep / air fried to a crisp, as seems to be the norm in restaurants, today. They were halved and oven roasted with olive oil, just as we make them at home. I happen to like this preparation; our kiddos prefer "restaurant Brussels sprouts" -- the greasier the better!) Moussaka was made with tender ground lamb. Both it and the kefte kabob were moist and flavorful. Beet salad was both simple and perfect, a generous portion of roasted beets, fresh arugula, fried halloumi, roasted walnuts, and balsamic reduction. Our table enjoyed everything with the warm, herbed pita wedges that came to the table at the start of the meal and a bottle of a 2021 Greek cabernet sauvignon (unusual, I think?), which was low tannin, but otherwise old vine in style, without the jammy red fruits of many new world style cabs. I didn't foot the bill, so I don't know what the markup was... but it was quite delicious and went well with all of our food, from the branzino to lamb. All in all, Yasouvlaki is a great place to have in our neighborhood and one to add to our rotation. Next time, I'm honing in on the lovely-looking meze.

We were served complimentary pita bread, which was warm, with tasty herbs on top. For my meal, I ordered the Salmon Skewer platter, which came with Greek fries, tabouli, more pita, tzatziki and special house sauce. All of this was a huge portion size, and was plated beautifully. The Salmon had nice grill marks, was tender, flaky, and well seasoned. Greek Fries were satisfyingly crispy with great potato taste. Tabouli was chock full of bulgar, tomatoes, cucumber, onion, along with fresh parsley, mint, and scallions. This was a light and crunchy addition to the dish. The sauces were savory, full of bold flavor. I decided to try the Ekmek Kataifi for dessert, which consisted of pistachio, crispy kataifi, Greek custard, vanilla, topped with light whip. this was delicate, sweet, fragrant, and all the ingredients mingled well together. Service was solid. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Everything came out in a timely manner. Prices were reasonable for the Upper West Side area. I would consider returning to try the Branzino or Grilled Lamb Chops.
