My wife and I just had an awesome lunch. She had the feta burger with fries, I had the traditional lamb/beef Gyro with a Greek salad as my side. The salad was large and loaded, fresh crispy lettuce, feta, kalamata olives, tomato, cucumber and served on an ice cold plate. My wife's burger was great, piping hot with crispy fries. My Gyro was loaded with meat, I almost wasn't able to finish, props for the healthy portion. It also came with an extra side of tzatziki, very much appreciated. We had a party of 14. The waiter was wonderful and attentive until a hot lady sat down at the bar. After that he stayed and talked to her for over 12 minutes, dropping the ball on getting boxes and bills until one of the ladies went over and asked if he was ever coming back. She had an adult son home in critical care and had to leave. The waiter came back with neither the boxes nor the tabs. He chastised her for being rude in front of his customer at the bar. I explained that he had told us he would be right back and never showed up. Not a great time to stop serving a table of 14 who usually over-tip because of the size of the group. I have garlic intolerance. I ordered lamb chops without garlic. Three were overcooked but fine. The fourth had garlic and I ate too much before I realized. I was sick all evening. Place never misses with warm greetings, great service and outstanding food. We went in for an early dinner on Monday, around 5, after arriving late in Naples yesterday. Our first visit to Greektown Taverna was delightful. First the staff was friendly, welcoming and attentive to our needs. The ambiance is casual and comfortable. They have Greek artifacts on the wall to enhance the ambiance. One of my friends informed me that they have music on some week night. We went on a Thursday night but no live music tonight! We have Chicken Kebob and Lamb chops. Both dishes were well seasoned with olive oil, herbs, garlic and well grilled. Wife loves her Chicken Kebob and the best lamb chops in SWFL! The roasted Greek potatoes, rice pilaf, broccoli and mixed vegetables are fresh and tasty! Our next table's Moussaka, Pastichio, Santorini Shrimps looking very inviting! I love Mediterranean food and always looking for a good new spot to try. This venue is clean, service was impeccable, I literally had to ask for nothing because they had every attention to detail. Before I could even ask for the server she was already at my table with a glass of water with . Portion sizes are large, the Greek salad with gyro meet was very good. I wasn't crazy about the house dressing for the salad but it was still good. The atmosphere is very casual, more family style so it's not a first date type of place. We noticed this restaurant a few times and decided to stop in for lunch. It's in a good location, but kind of hidden from the street. We both ordered the traditional gyros, which came with fries and a Greek salad. The salad was crisp and very fresh. The gyros were large and filled with meat, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers and tzatziki. I had the chicken gyro with fries, Alan had a beef gyro with rice. Alan gave his lunch a 5 star rating. He likes Greek food although Greek restaurants can be hard to find. This restaurant is spacious and has live music a couple of times a week. They have a varied menu and the food we ordered was well made and arrived quickly. The restaurant was clean and the service was good. We stopped in to grab a bite at what we thought was authentic Greek food. Key word, 'thought'. Firstly, the interior is sad for a Greek restaurant. Old brown sitting as if you were still at the old previous breakfast place. We ordered the beef Keftedes (Greek Meatballs) and they were absolutely horrible. The meat was literally soaked in oil and drizzled with more oil. It had a weird taste, and when it was broken apart, (literally fell apart) it was pink inside, so it obviously was not cooked thoroughly and it was basically a ground beef patty thrown in a pan of oil. If you've ever eaten authentic Keftedes, they are supposed to first of all bind, not fall apart, have savory spices, garlic, mint... none of these ingredients were in them. Plainly a hamburger with nothing on it, but shaped like they were to resemble something they are not. Off-putting. Furthermore; The ingredients on the menu did not match what was put out on the plate. We both ordered the gyro platter thinking that if a restaurant can't cook an authentic, simple gyro, then we're not coming back. It was unimpressive. The Gyro pieces were oily and very thick. The french fries - you could tell were frozen as they had no taste to them, no seasoning. The pita bread was cut in little pieces. It had a weird smell to it, and again you could tell it was frozen, not fresh. The tomato slices and cucumbers were huge, with no taste. Probably GMO vegetables. Even the tszadziki sauce was obviously from a jar or package, very thick no aromatic smell of dill as authentic Greek sauce should. This entire experience was gross, uninviting with outdated interiors, oily meat, and unappetizing. We could just tell that not one single thing was made fresh, not even the bread that was brought out in the beginning with the dipping oil, the bread was crumbling and it tasted like it was a day or two old. We will never be coming back. This was DEFINITELY NOT authentic Greek Cuisine. Check out my other reviews of amazing Greek places we have visited. read more

This place was busy on a Wednesday night but our party of seven had reservations and were seated immediately. The waiter gave us water glasses and carafes of water for the table. I ordered a peach martini -- very good and reasonably priced. Husband enjoyed his old-fashioned. Big menu -- hard to decide what to order! I went with the Athenian shrimp. They had a good flavor and were served with a basic rice pilaf and veggies. I wished the tails were not on them, though. I've eaten here three times in the last month, so it is time to write up a review. The food is great. The service is good. The prices are decent for Naples but they'd be considered high in other places. My wife likes to get the chicken kebobs and I typically order the Gyros Appetizer as my meal -- it is cheaper than the Gyros Plate, and has plenty of food for a meal. If you're trying to avoid carbs, this is the play ... and just give the pita wedges to your wife or kids. :) In late September the place is dead at 5pm... but into October each time we've returned it has been more and more busy at 5pm. It isn't too noisy though, if you're worried about that. We're usually the youngest customers by 20 years or so it seems since the retirees enjoy their meals early too. read more

Came here with high hopes, sadly a bit disappointed. This place is average at best. Food is passable, portions of Mezze are tiny and look sad. The plates are mostly empty with a little bit of food in a tiny plastic portion cup surrounded by a few slices of pita. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice music to accompany the meal. I probably would not return as I would happily pay a few more dollars and feel like I was getting something. Tip to ownership: if you are not going to change portion sizes, use smaller plates and go a little classier with a real monkey dish, not a plastic cup. read more

Realized my craving was for Greek food and was not disappointed when I stopped in for lunch the other day. My waitress was very helpful in making my selection as the portions are very generous and I had a craving for a few bites of everything. Decided on the kefta gyro as it came with a side Greek salad and a little feta was added for the perfect bite. The meatballs were perfectly seasoned and oh so tender and the pita nice and fluffy. Very good food at reasonable prices at this local Greek restaurant. I had the lamb shanks. The shanks were slow cooked and very tender. My wife had a shrimp dish that had a lot of shrimp. Our friends both had kabobs one shrimp and the other chicken. Drinks were very reasonably priced. We could not resist the baklava for dessert. Our waiter was friendly. Wanted to stop in for a late breakfast but alas breakfast was over. So we had lunch. I ordered the traditional Gyro. This also came with fries and a Greek salad. The salad was terrific very well made with all the great ingredients which were very fresh. The gyro was very large and filled with meat tomato, onions, and tzatziki. The french fries were steak fries very well made and fine taste. This location for whatever reason has been death valley for restaraunts. I hope Greektown makes it as they have fine food. read more

Would highly recommend Greek Taverna. We went in as a big group (10-12 people). Starting with the service, which was great and on point. They were very attentive and got every single detail. Taulant always walks around and says hi to all guests and makes sure everyone is okay. Very welcoming. The food was incredible. We ordered a giant platter with shrimp skewers, lamb chops, scallops, keftedes. Rice pilaf was also brought out with the best lemon potatoes you will every try (my weakness). Updated review, 2 years later, now 5 stars! We are snowbirds, but while in Naples we dine at Greektown Taverna about once a month. Ambiance is casual, comfortable, sort of like a "neighborhood restaurant" where locals return often. To enhance the Greek ambiance, they have authentic classical Greek music by a father and son every Wednesday and Friday evening, starting at 6 pm. Service is prompt and friendly. Servers seem happy, not like just doing a job. Although few people are related, staff throughout the restaurant are Greek or Albanian. Food is excellent. We have tried several hot and cold appetizers. We usually have lamb and/or seafood and have always been pleased. The lamb chops and Branzino fish are particularly delicious. Occasionally, we share a dessert. Both the quality and quantity of portions are perfect. And the prices for food and drink are quite reasonable. Go to eat here once and you will return. read more

I ended up taking home majority of the rice and a good portion of the lamb and make a Greek rice bowl out of it the next day. It was a little annoying having to assemble little mini gyros. They had dueling mandolin players but frankly they didn't need amplifiers in such a small place because it was way too loud. Service was good. We are fairly new to the neighborhood and have noticed this restaurant.on our way to Publix. I tried to make a reservation, but they only take reservations for five people or more. This was not a problem, there were plenty of seats available. The menu is what you would expect from any Greek restaurant. We started with a Greek salad. It was a large serving, and everything was crisp and fresh. It came quickly after we ordered. My wife had the lamb chops, I had the chicken kebab. These also appeared rather quickly, maybe too quickly, if you would like to dine at a relaxed pace. Both dishes were good. The meats were tender, and the side dishes adequate. We both felt it was a bit too much salt. My only real complaint was the deserts. They have the typical case in the front of the restaurant showcasing the dessert offerings. Unfortunately, it was very sparse. Really only one or two pieces of each dessert. A couple of pieces of cheesecake, couple of pieces of chocolate cake, and only one piece of baklava, perhaps because it was a Monday evening and everything was sold over the weekend. This was a first time visit. Met a friend for dinner. Our waiter was Johnny - very nice and attentive. Started out with a Lemon Drop Martini with a sugared rim (Johnny asked). It was delicious and only cost $6. All day, everyday for all their martinis and house wine. I was shocked. They served bread with a herb olive oil. My friend loved it. We took our time and Johnny checked on us frequently. I ordered chicken kabob and my friend ordered pork kebab. My chicken was flavorful. The potato wedges were tasty. Carrots were perfectly cooked but green beans were overcooked for me. Overall a good dinner and a nice dining experience. I will go back again for sure. read more
