This was our first experience at a nursery out here and we were not disappointed! I would say blown away is more like it. Even on a Sunday before lunch, the place is extremely spacious, clean, well organized/stocked, and the staff are friendly but not pushy. I am no green thumb but an amateur indoor plant enthusiast à la covid shelter in place so I'll definitely be back for succulents and or air plants when I'm ready to get back into the game. There's a huge selection of trees, plants, shrubs, herbs, flowers and everything in between. I didn't realize that they offer fresh cut Christmas trees during the winter season. But I would definitely like to come back to see and smell them. They also sell fertilizer, sprinkler system spare parts, grills, and patio furniture and accessories. It's a haven for anyone working on their yard or outdoor space. There's even dog treats and toys, wind chimes, bird houses and feeders! As wonderful as this place is, you wouldn't expect such fair prices. But here they are, competitively reasonable. As an indoor plant person, I appreciate the various sizes of neem oil and fair pricing! Lastly, and most importantly, we weren't sure if we could bring our pup in but there were tons of large dogs on leash! So glad this place is so close to home! We'll be back soon. read more

Great selection of plants, planters and anything gardening related. I bought some plants here in July and in October they're still going strong! The prices here are really reasonable. I got some ceramic planters, potting soil and plant food all for a bit less than I was anticipating to spend. Always a good thing! The service here is good too. The employees were very knowledgeable and helpful when I rang up as I needed to make multiple trips to my car to load up. Also, when I visited, I heard some great 80's music to make my plant shopping experience that much better. I love it here at Green Acres and will definitely be back for more green girls! read more

We live in Allen, TX, and this morning my wife and I decided it was finally time to tackle the jungle we used to call a front yard. We had recently cleared out our two massive flower beds -- we're talking "could host a small wedding" kind of massive -- and were ready to bring in the color, life, and a little botanical flair. After checking out a few nurseries closer to home (which shall remain nameless because they just didn't measure up), we found ourselves cruising down to Melissa, TX to visit Green Acres Nursery -- and I'm so glad we did. Let me tell you, this place is no ordinary plant shop. It's like Disneyland for gardeners... but instead of Mickey Mouse, you get trees, shrubs, and succulents. And no long lines! After browsing for a minute, we decided the mission was too big for us and asked for help. Within minutes of asking, we were greeted by Antonio first, then AJ -- and honestly, those two deserve gold stars, raises, and their own garden-themed reality show. AJ was knowledgeable, patient, and somehow understood exactly what we needed before we even knew how to explain it. Antonio was equally awesome -- friendly, upbeat, and clearly passionate about what he does. Between the two of them, we felt like we had a professional landscaping crew and two new friends all in one. We told them about our giant empty beds, and they walked us through the different types of plants, trees, and arrangements we could do. They helped us think through shade, soil, color coordination, and plant size -- I mean, who knew buying plants was this complicated? I thought I'd just grab a couple flowers and boom, Better Homes & Gardens cover photo -- but nope. Luckily, AJ and Antonio guided us through it like seasoned pros. In just about an hour, we had everything we needed -- trees, flowers, ground cover, you name it. It was like a botanical shopping spree... This place is worth every penny. Who needs a vacation when you've got mulch, right? My wallet may be lighter, but my flower beds are about to look like a botanical masterpiece. The nursery itself is huge -- if you're looking to wander for a bit and soak in the possibilities, this is the place. The selection is excellent, the layout is easy to navigate, and the vibe is friendly and inviting. But the real gem of Green Acres is the staff, especially AJ and Antonio. Seriously, if those two are working, just ask for them and watch the magic happen. Green Acres has fairly priced, good value plants of all different kinds! The staff is always smiling and friendly as well. The plants appear healthy, and it is easy to find different kinds of seeds for planting, many different herbs and vegetable plants, beautiful display of decorative outdoor flowers, and all kinds of houseplants (including a selection of rare expensive ones!). If you are into houseplants or gardening, I would highly recommend checking this place out! read more

Pumpkin display was small but the store was huge. The pets enjoyed looking around and picking out some plants. Everyone was helpful in showing you around and the prices were reasonable. Will definitely visit again. read more

They have a wide variety of trees and plants for many DIY projects. Unfortunately, we found out first hand they struggle mightily with developing a landscape design. We paid $675 to have a landscape design of our backyard to enhance and compliment what we already have. After having a initial 2 hour meeting with a designer and her boss we thought we covered all the bases and we were looking forward to seeing what they came up with. In a sit down meeting at the store to review the design plan the presentation came off as unprofessional and disjointed. I don't know what software was used to develop this plan but it look like a mix of a Minecraft game and crayons. Unfortunate, we couldn't figure our what being recommended. There was a also a flower bed added to the plan that we didn't even ask for! Previously, we have had other nurseries in the DFW area professional design a comprehensive plan for us and this plan didn't have this same feel. We told designer we weren't happen with design and ultimately asked for our $675. Green Acres corporate in CA get involved and we received our reimbursement and we appreciate it. According to the individual at corporate she indicated that it was reported that there was a difference of direction/opinion between my wife an myself to the designer and her boss. I can tell you there wasn't. This is one thing you don't do in business by attempting to put a wedge between the customers. I hope they learn through this experience. I was in the nursery today, subsequently misplaced my phone in between shopping and my car. I went back in and talked to Max, who was incredibly helpful. He took my information, alerted other staff in the area I had shopped and actively searched along with me. He went out of his way to help me. Don't see that often, so I'm very grateful. We loved this Melissa store before this, but helpful staff makes all the difference. read more

Asked 4 employees in locating the perennial sedum. Three of the four had no idea what I was talk about and the one guy pointed in a general area and claimed they were spread around the store. Spent 20 minutes trying to find out where they were and finally gave up. I'll stick with nurseries where employees have a clue and are willing to guide you to the plants. read more

First let me start by saying we have loved going to Green Acres since they opened in Melissa- We have spent WAY more on landscaping our 2 acres than we should, and most of that $$ has been spent at Green Acres (Trees/Shrubs/Annuals, etc.) and my bride is a Master Gardener, so where I see yard, she sees "potential planting beds"- We prepared our back yard for fall and about 3 weeks ago purchased 5 flats of pansies along with a wide assortment of other items- For some reason roughly a flat of pansies just didn't do well- Several in the same containers as others doing really well- No real reason other than perhaps the crazy weather swings, but took back those that we pulled out this weekend that had completely eliminated root systems when we pulled- Were prepared to exchange those and replant today, and were told by the two gals working at the front register that there was "nothing they could do" and those aren't guaranteed- Perhaps we overwatered and that she had lost some of her annuals also, and that's just the way it goes. Needless to say, in light of all that we have spent we have largely been happy w/ the things we have purchased (both for our home, and our HOA landscape) but was really disappointed in this response- Don't think it is too much for a nursery to stand behind their product at least for a little while- We have enjoyed our experience w/ Green Acres until now, but may have to rethink and redirect back to Calloways- Buyer beware- If the plants don't survive/thrive, you likely will be stuck- read more
