Went for Easter brunch. What a disappointment. Not one thing at the buffet is worth mentioning. Way below average. Not even water unless you ask. No spoon to stir your coffee unless you ask. Everything and this fine restaurant is only a couple miles from downtown Sauk City, where we reside. The cuisine, service and dining room are far above average. I grew up in the Hospitality Industry and understand everything about it, including the importance of Cuisine, well-trained and courteous staff and location. Went for dinner on a Tuesday night. Place was busy so we got a reservation. Turns out they have a fish special on Tuesday's (prime rib too), so five of us got fish and one person ordered the half chicken. Meals started with warm bread, cheese and garlic toast to share. The four of the fish eaters ordered the beer battered version, one ordered broiled. Fish portion was generous, three pieces, and prepared perfectly. Everyone had the baked potato and coke slaw. Clean plate club prevailed. Chicken came to the table lightly battered. Portion was large and looked delicious. Person who had chicken removed every speck of meat on the carcass and had a big smile on his face when done. Bottom line ... I miss the salad bar from the old days. I really do. The meal was very good and the value was terrific. You will enjoy this old fashion supper club. read more

Love Green Acre for a weeknight or weekend fun! Staff are on their game all the time, the drinks are good, food portions are huge. Except for the Prime Rib that our friend ordered which I tasted was delicious the rest of my husband and my meal was terrible. He ordered the Salmon Oscar- very mushy on the verge of going bad. He loved the French onion soap. We all loved the asparagus cooked just perfectly. Ordered escargot hard to taste it with all the stuff put on top. Very small escargot. The bread served with the meals was hard and cold. The salad that my friend and I ordered with our meal look old and wilted like it came out of a prepackaged bag. My meal was a total disappointment. I ordered the Pan Seared Scallops. Send it back because it was super tough. As my husband and friend were finishing their meal they bought another plate, took one bite and realized those scallops were bad. The restaurant did take my meal off the bill. read more

Wow, this place has gone down hill! We were there on a Thursday night early May. Service & Cocktails were great as usual but the food, what a joke. I ordered vegetable soup, it consisted of corn & some kind of bean in a watered down tomato based broth, just horrible! My dinner was on the special board, salmon Oscar, salmon was good little fishy tasting but overall okay, the asparagus was disappointing thinner then a pencil & overcooked. I could have picked better in a ditch! My husbands steak was served in a puddle of bloody juice that he had to pour off not very appealing. We really miss the salad bar. We tried Green Acres on a Thursday night, and waited 15 minutes in the bar for a table. It's a large bar area, but only had one bartender on staff, and he seemed pretty overwhelmed. Once we were seated, we waited 15 minutes for a server, another 15 for our drinks, where one person in our party didn't get theirs, and another received the wrong one. When we got our drinks, we said we were ready to order, but waited even longer for her to come back. I don't know if they were short staffed, but we were one of only 3 tables total up there. The bread basket was amazing, soups and food were good. But overall, I think it was very over priced for what you got. Their prices are the same as Ishnala's, and that place is an entire experience. This was a few hour event, but only because we waited so long in between each part. read more

One of the last supper clubs and always fun, especially at the bar area. Nice selection of specials on this Sunday evening and was a hard choice to decide which one to order. My half a duck was good but not great and the obviously frozen hash browns were on the cold side with the cheese not melted, still in the out of the package square slice. Again, good but not great. The steaks were the same, cooked correctly but not the greatest cuts. Salads and soups were very good and we still enjoyed being here. Salad bar is still not back, unfortunately and instead there is a huge wine cooler where it used to be. Service was excellent and all the employees were friendly and helpful. Been eating here for 40+ years, and rarely had an issue. But since new owners took over last year, the food quality has steadily gone down hill. The baked fish was cooked well, but flavorless and bland. Hash browns were cooked thoroughly, but only on one side. The seafood plater ($66) was borderline cold. The broiled fish was dry, flavorless and overcooked. Scallops and lobster were fine. Calamari was tough and rubbery. Wait staff was half friendly, but always in a rush with really no concern for listening to our questions or concerns. They need a friendly hostess to greet you when arriving. All real supper clubs need a salad bar! Overall it was a waste of $200.00. Very sad, but we will not be back. Too many other restaurant choices around here. read more

Had a bad experience last time we ordered carry out so we thought we'd give it another try to give them the benefit of the doubt.. horrible again. They said our food would be ready at 5:35 so I arrived at 5:40, I still had to wait another half hour before my food was "ready" I live less than five minutes away from the restaurant and when I got home the food (fish, hotdog, fries etc) was cold and soggy. And my daughters hot dog was scorched so she refused to eat it. I'd probably eat the $80 before I'll eat there again. Extremely disappointed read more

This place is popular. Arrived at 7pm on a Saturday and had a 1 hour wait for a table for 2. But waiting is part of the fun. The bar area has comfy stools, $5 Old Fashioned's (they count as a "rail" drink) and bowls of snack mix. Good people watching and friendly atmosphere. Enjoyed the salad bar. Ordered the prime rib, which was generously sized, though slightly tough. Ended the night with ice cream drinks and everyone had a good time. read more

My husband and I stopped here on the way back from the Wisconsin Dells. It was a Monday night and we did not have to wait to be seated. Food: they have a wide variety of food. We had the calamari for an appetizer. It was cooked just right. I would recommend trying it, if you are a calamari lover. I had the jumbo shrimp for my meal. I thought the shrimp would be a little bigger than they were. I had the rice as a side and it didn't seem to be cooked all the way. One weird thing is all entrees come with a salad bar and they will not put your order in until you go up to the salad bar unless you tell them otherwise. Drinks: We had the Canyon Road Moscato. I am a huge mascara drinker and this one is at the top of my list. It is sweet but not too sweet. You can really taste the fruit. Price: This place is on the pricey side. Honestly I don't know if the food quality is worth the price. The food wasn't bad but the pricing was a bit much. Atmosphere: This place is casual. It has an old country feeling to it. Awful experience. We arrived at 5 PM, and got our meal at 6:35 after being seated at 5:30. The place had plenty of empty tables when we ordered. A table next to us was seated 50 minutes after we were and got their meal 5 minutes later than we did. The fried chicken was so overfried that you needed a chisel to get through the crust. Probably was put into the frier when we first ordered. I give them some credit for a fresh salad bar and a decent bartender, but that's it. This was our first visit to Green Acres establishment. We have always heard good things, so we figured we would try it for ourselves. We spent the day at House on the Rock and drove right past this place on the way home. When entering the restaurant we were immediately greeted with hellos, smiles and seated! Once sat we were told specials for the day, drink order taken and away we go!  I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer and crab cakes to share. Both were pretty good and paired with tasty sauces, just needed a little seasoning. We then ordered a rack of ribs for myself and fettuccini Alfredo topped with Shrimp and Scallops for my wife. Yum! Both of us got a trip to their salad bar which was really simple, but really good. Awesome salad, fresh cut veggies, fresh cheese, cottage cheese and toasted garlic bread! We got a loaf of fresh cut bread delivered to our table to eat with our salads as well.  We then got our meals which were cooked perfectly, and very tasty! My only complaint is that everything lacked seasoning or any real flavors. It was all very bland, like they were cooking for a retirement center! Let's jazz that amazing food up a bit with some flavor town! We understand your crowd is older and that what pays the bills, but needs some seasoning! My ribs were tender, not much flavor again and not my preference of bbq sauce. They slathered them in open pit bbq which is a Texas tang sauce and I like a sweet bbq (brown sugar, molasses, mustards) so that ruined the whole experience for me.  Overall it was a clean place, friendly staff, great location, good food, average price for a Supper Club, and a great wine selection! Traveling through rural Wisconsin, we stumbled onto this neat spot for dinner. It was Friday night but we didn't have to wait for a table. Our server was very prompt. My husband ordered the beer battered fish and I ordered the potato cheddar crusted cod. They have a small salad bar that comes with meals. Our food was a little slowing coming out but it was delicious. Most people seemed to be getting steals that seemed to come out faster. Decor is older but nice. We would definitely go back. read more

We love the steaks and seafood (fried shrimp) at Green Acres. The au jus is the best around. The steaks are always perfectly cooked and super tender. Only issue stopping this from being a 5-star review is the manager, Amber. She is extremely unpleasant both in person and on the phone. (Close to a year) We are by no means snootie foodies. However, we can appreciate a good meal and set our expectations based on the setting. The first visit went like this the worst seafood platter I have ever had, completely unpalatable. Scallops were like rubber, the crab legs were the size of a large crawfish, the whitefish was completely flavorless. Hash browns with cheese and onions were presented with processsed cheese slice and some raw onions on top. Now I am not expecting the world but I do expect an edible meal for 30 some dollars. The bread was also hard and not warmed. The waiter was very nice and tried to help. I had lost my appetite and wanted to move on. He said he would comp,the bill. Good enough. Great Wisconsin supper club! They've taken Covid precautions very seriously. We have felt safe going there for take out the entire time. For a while it was the only place we were comfortable getting food from. Their steaks are delicious. Their fish is great too although sometimes the sizes of the pieces are inconsistent and disappointing. My favorite might be the giant crouton that comes with the salads. The building is super cute. We came in at 6:30. The wait was about an hour. My fiancé ordered the halibut and I took a chance and ordered the swordfish (I've never had it before). Both meals came with a salad bar. The salad bar was just ok. Wish they would have had something better than just iceberg lettuce. My fiancé said his halibut was good, nothing special. My swordfish was amazing though! Would definitely recommend it. Glad they also had a vegetable choice for a side (sugar snap peas - were good). Waitress was nice. Nothing extremely special.
