I saw ductwork in the rafters; maybe the AC was not working? We went for Mother's Day brunch. It was probably not their best culinary showing, buffets usually aren't. I was not a fan of the Cheesy Hash Brown and Egg Casserole. It was the texture, not so much the taste. The French toast was a good mixture of cinnamon and sugar, but only if you could find the pieces that weren't dried out. I liked the bacon: salty, well cooked and crunchy. The flank steak was tender and tasty. Prepared to a perfect medium and marinaded in a nice meaty broth. The chicken in the Lemon Chicken Piccata was overcooked, dry, resulting in a tough chew. I did enjoy the Mushroom Strudel. A moist dish with a tasty gravy drizzle. I would've liked to try the bread pudding with caramel sauce, but they apparently ran out. The other desserts were ok. They looked like they were hastily cut into slices and served on the thinnest of paper plates. I could tell those running the place were also a bit frustrated; they made their feelings rather vocal, easy for all seated to hear (that's like a major rule of restauranting: the issues in the back should never be exposed in the front, where the customers can hear.) All in all, not a good first impression. But, I am willing to return and have a normal sit-down meal. Then I can see how they do. I have been told that their service and food is usually pretty solid. We shall see.....

Meat loaf was plate licking good. Came with mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley. Pot roast was cooked perfectly. Came with mashed potatoes, veggies and a tasty gravy. Pork chops were moist, tender and huge, and topped with an apricot sauce. Meal was very good. Hot wheat bread loaf and side salads started the experience. Highly recommend without any reservations. Can't wait to return. Tip - get a reservation.

Servings were very very generous. One person ordered blue gill and smiled the whole meal. Baked potatoes were pretty standard, but the cole slaw was excellent. Meals came with a roll and butter. My crispy chicken sandwich was perfectly cooked and was bursting with flavor. The bartender was really sweet, too. Even though the place was jammed, she was friendly and attentive. We sat outside, which has a beautiful view of the countryside, a lush rolling hill to the south. The ambiance outside was relaxing. Inside was another story, but that's because someone had organized a BINGO... Is it a game? A BINGO game? I'd definitely go back. (Quick note on the pandemic: Management doesn't require masks. I'm not entirely on board with that, but I noticed that was the norm in this part of Wisconsin. If you're like me and have already recovered from COVID, you're okay here; if you're worried about getting the disease or being a carrier, your best bet would be to avoid this place.)

Quality, flavor, presentation were simply top notch! It just so happened to be oyr servers birthday as well, so that was fun & she was so sweet & accommodating... the atmosphere is is wonderful with the distillery, gift shop & a view of the river right out on the terrace if you want to eat outside. We saw a mother & baby deer right across from us and a whole family of geese with their gosling. We loved the place so much, we came back 2 days later for lunch before leaving the area. Take the Distillery tour & buy some amazing infused balsamic vinegars, oils, bourbon, brandy, bourbon BBQ sauce, scented candles & other before leaving. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! We will come back & visit more of Baraboo just to eat here again!

You do get to try up to five tastings of your choice, which was nice since you can double up on a tasting if you really enjoy the taste. The cool thing is if you arrive earlier to your tasting, you can bring the drink with during the tour. I love the atmosphere and really enjoyed the tour guide!

We usually an eat at the stable or the paddock but like the house - where you can make reservations - for larger family gatherings. Also look for special events like wine tastings on Wednesdays. There are three different dinning areas, the Stable Grill, the Haus, and the patio (which is a new addition). The Stable is a good choice during the week for lunch or early supper. I prefer the House for family dinners, especially on Friday. The Stable has a neat bar area for socializing and having a few cocktails before supper. Both the Stable and House are great historic spots representing early Wisconsin rural heritage and Germanic roots. The fish fry sampler for dinner is recommended for Friday fish fry, but I really prefer the Heileman Bavarian Dinner on any other evening. I would also recommend starting with the Appetizer Sampler A taste of their unique appetizers, to be shared around the table. The service has always been good and they make you feel welcomed and appreciated.
