Such a cute concept for a converted old mill! Nancy and her team do tasty, fresh-milled bread…read moreloaves and serve a delicious meal of comfort food. The tossed garden salad was fresh. The mashed red-skin potatoes were very flavorful. Baked chicken and shredded meet with au jus - yum! We dined in the spacious upper room. The stiff back chairs were not comfortable after hours of driving, but we were there to focus on the region's history and the stories. Service was efficient and inviting. The moist carrot cake was a standout. Do try it! All in all, a good time.

This was my first time at the Mill. We loved the rustic warehouse look. We were seated on the…read moresecond floor. It was getting quite hot up there; no air circulating. I saw ductwork in the rafters; maybe the AC was not working? We went for Mother's Day brunch. It was probably not their best culinary showing, buffets usually aren't. I was not a fan of the Cheesy Hash Brown and Egg Casserole. It was the texture, not so much the taste. The French toast was a good mixture of cinnamon and sugar, but only if you could find the pieces that weren't dried out. I liked the bacon: salty, well cooked and crunchy. The flank steak was tender and tasty. Prepared to a perfect medium and marinaded in a nice meaty broth. The chicken in the Lemon Chicken Piccata was overcooked, dry, resulting in a tough chew. I did enjoy the Mushroom Strudel. A moist dish with a tasty gravy drizzle. I would've liked to try the bread pudding with caramel sauce, but they apparently ran out. The other desserts were ok. They looked like they were hastily cut into slices and served on the thinnest of paper plates. I could tell those running the place were also a bit frustrated; they made their feelings rather vocal, easy for all seated to hear (that's like a major rule of restauranting: the issues in the back should never be exposed in the front, where the customers can hear.) All in all, not a good first impression. But, I am willing to return and have a normal sit-down meal. Then I can see how they do. I have been told that their service and food is usually pretty solid. We shall see.....

Servings were very very generous. One person ordered blue gill and smiled the whole meal. Baked potatoes were pretty standard, but the cole slaw was excellent. Meals came with a roll and butter. As I've said before, this is the best fish fry in the region. Highly recommend without any reservations. Try it, but go early. Sometimes it's very busy.

My crispy chicken sandwich was perfectly cooked and was bursting with flavor. The bartender was really sweet, too. Even though the place was jammed, she was friendly and attentive. We sat outside, which has a beautiful view of the countryside, a lush rolling hill to the south. The ambiance outside was relaxing. Inside was another story, but that's because someone had organized a BINGO... Is it a game? A BINGO game? I'd definitely go back. (Quick note on the pandemic: Management doesn't require masks. I'm not entirely on board with that, but I noticed that was the norm in this part of Wisconsin. If you're like me and have already recovered from COVID, you're okay here; if you're worried about getting the disease or being a carrier, your best bet would be to avoid this place.)
