Great casual spot in Sawanee! I came here after a boat party one night and was super impressed with the food. The staff were all super nice and attentive as well! I ordered the shaky beef and the chicken satay (not pictured). The beef was fantastic - perfectly cooked! The chicken satay was good, but a little bit dry. The sauce that came with it was great though. If I had a car or lived closer to here, this would definitely be a go-to takeout spot for me!

It's suppose to be pad Thai?

Food doesn't feel authentic, I order chicken pad Thai and it tasted like fish and it was tasteless and feels like it was missing some ingredients. I order shrimp rolls and never found a shrimp. I also order a green curry and just like the pad Thai it was missing something. The service was not good. The place was good looking but until the y make food better I don't recommend it

Undercooked and gummy chicken that I removed and discarded from my fried rice.

After reading the reviews (and craving Thai food) we gave this spot a try! We intentionally ordered a wide array of items off of the menu (Spring rolls, shrimp & chicken basil fried rice, chicken pad Thai, & chicken lo mein) The fried rice was not fresh, dry, and lacked flavor. The chicken was WAY undercooked and gummy. I had one bite of chicken, spit it out, and removed every piece of chicken from my fried rice. The spring rolls were decent. The Pad Thai was 5/10. The pho was decent- not the best I've had, BUT the eye round was extremely tender which was a win. I spent $63 on this meal for 3 adults and 3 kids, and we all agreed that the food was subpar. Also as it is with most Thai, their idea of "spicy" is typically hotter than most American fare. For this place in particular, the spice factor is AMPED! They measure spice from 1-5 w/ 5 being "Thai hot", my wife's Pad Thai was at 3 & was extremely hot. My "dried rice" (see what I did there ) was at a 4, and it was almost unbearable and we both have a pretty high tolerance to spice. Definitely not a shot at the restaurant though, as we ordered what we ordered. But just a heads up to those ordering for the first time!

    Grilled shrimp with fried rice

Last night decided to order Green Basil being that a friend of mine suggested we should. At first look I thought the menu was a little overwhelming with Chinese and Thai options but decided to go with the grilled shrimp and scratched the vermicelli noodles to be substituted with fried rice. The food was overall good but not great. The rice needed more seasoning because it was missing something. The dipping sauce for the shrimp was delicious but not enough. I wished that I could have poured the entire sauce over the dish! The shrimp was cooked perfectly but definitely not grilled because there were absolutely no grill marks. I might give it another go on a hungry night in but it won't be my first choice.

Another restaurant I was excited to try, that was unfortunately disappointing. I ordered from this restaurant on 2 separate occasions. The first time I did carry out, and the 2nd time I ordered via Uber Eats. Both occasions were disappointing. On visit 1, I ordered the Grilled Chicken & Shrimp Combo w/ a Spring Roll, and Vegetables. In my head I imagined a noodle stir fry, but it's a complete 180! There was an issue with the temperature of my food and that threw my tastebuds off all together. The meal is served cold!! Yes, COLD! The shrimp tasted as though it was grilled fresh previously, but chilled, and the chicken tasted the same....Grilled, cold, and cut into pieces. It's served on a bed of vermicelli noodles with no type of sauce or anything. On the side are the vegetables which are lettuce, carrot, bean sprouts, onion and a couple others. The spring roll was the highlight of the meal but the sauce they pair the roll with is disgusting. Waaaaaaaaaaay to Fishy for my liking. I tasted it, and literally tossed it in the trash! I think the restaurant should advise this meal is served cold. If I would have known that I would have never ordered. Also, some of the items didn't taste chilled properly, and that could be an issue. Visit 2 I ordered a simple Fried Rice with beef and a Coconut soup... Now, I like a good fried rice and can tell when a restaurant is going above and beyond with this popular entree. But yet again, I was shocked at how bad it was..... As I was eating, I kept thinking, "It has to be good, people rave about this place".... It's NOT. You'll see the picture below. The rice didn't taste fresh, and some of the grains were even hard. There was no soy sauce or any type of sauce on the rice, and it didn't have the fried rice taste.... When I opened the container I even said to myself, "This is the whitest lookin' fried rice ever!"...Wasn't tasty at all. I don't recommend. The coconut soup was delicious. I will say that, and the whole mushrooms in the soup were a nice surprise opposed to seeing them sliced like most places. In all, this place may have stellar reviews but I gave it a shot twice. That's enough for me.

Pan Fried Noodles w/ Beef and Shrimp

Came here around 9:30pm after an afternoon of shopping. There wasn't many options for late night dining. So we settled for Green Basil after seeing it on Yelp. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look great. Besides the 2-3 photos of food, the other windows are covered in what looks like white paper. So I was skeptical as I walked towards the restaurant. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the door to see that the inside was quite nice. The tables, booths and chairs are well kept and clean. There was still a lot of patrons at this hour which was a good sign for me. This restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes. We ordered the Spicy Basil Leaves w/ Chicken, Shaky Beef and Pan Fried Noodles with Beef and Shrimp. We asked the server to make everything less salty, knowing that we have sensitive palates. But the server assured us that he personally makes the sauces and knows that it's not salty. He even asserted that he has 30+ years of experience in the business as well. Here are my thoughts on the dishes: 1. Spicy Basil Leaves w/ Chicken ($10.45): Our favorite dish of the three that we ordered. The chicken was very tender and the sauce was just right. Now that I'm looking at the name of this dish though...it was not spicy at all. I don't eat super spicy food, but occasionally appreciate a little bit of spice. But there was none of that in this dish. So the name may be a bit misleading? However, it doesn't mean I wouldn't order this dish again though because it was very tasty. 2. Shaky Beef ($12.55): It was salty. Even with rice, it still made me wince when I ate the beef. Needless to say I was disappointed after having the server assure us that it won't be salty. He even told us to tell him if we weren't satisfied with the dish. But when he came around and asked us how the dish was, and we told them it was salty, he just said "oh, well customers typically eat it with rice so they don't find this salty.." Umm hello? We know how to eat this dish... we were eating it with rice and it was still salty. All the rice in that restaurant wouldn't have changed the saltiness of that beef. So we told him how we felt, but he didn't offer to do anything about it. We felt as if the server thought we didn't know how to eat this dish therefore it's our fault the dish is salty. 3. Pan Fried Noodles w/ Beef and Shrimp ($11.45): This dish was bland after tasting the Shaky Beef. These noodles are like the noodles they use in bird nest dishes but a little bigger, not by much though. I would have preferred the noodles being cut into portions because we struggled a bit pulling the noodles apart and into our plates. The shrimp and beef was okay. We ended up dipping the stuff from this dish into the sauce of the Shaky Beef for more taste. And vice versa to take some of the saltiness out of the Shaky Beef. Overall, I probably won't be back unless I'm in the area and desperate for Vietnamese food. But there a lot better Viet restaurants out there. This place isn't bad. But I've definitely had better.

We went here for birthday lunch. I've seen this place for months but never stopped. I was welcomed in with a warm greeting from their hostess. She was so sweet! We sat in the middle of the dining area. The interior is beautiful. There were paintings and sculptures all around. I have to say that I was impressed with the bathroom. They had this sink that was a made of glass and some sort of paint that was full of gold luster. It was so nice. Yes. I took pictures and video. After looking over the menu I decided to try something new. The pad Thai with shrimp sounded great. I ordered it and it came out in a reasonable time. It was fresh, flavorful and filing. It's been a while since I've had bean sprouts. The whole dish was good and now I have a new favorite spot in Suwanee. There is so much on this menu but I'm sure you'll find something you like!

Spicy basil zucchini? Hardly any chicken, bland taste. Waste of money.

Went here for dinner tonight, we haven't been here since like a year before Covid, so lots of changes!!! And we were told at the counter "yeah Covid changed everything". Well, you can blame Covid for a lot of things but the quality of the food ain't COVID's fault. I mean, wow... the food in this place has really gone down in quality. I ordered a spicy basil chicken and found among the two pounds of zucchini drowning in cheap sauce, about 1/8 of a chicken breast. Really? A giant portion of food, rather zucchini, and the least amount of chicken ever. After digging all the chicken out it looked like I didn't even put a dent into my meal. My husband ordered the panang beef and it had potatoes and avocado.. mediocre in flavor. Guess I can check this off our list of options.

    Pho tai
    Hanna N.

This review is based primarily on their pho. We ordered the pho dac biet and pho tai, both standards of any pho joint. Here's the breakdown: BROTH - not very flavorful...The most important part of pho is the broth, which should taste like it was boiled for at least 4-8 hours. I should be able to taste the marrow and other juices from the meat and bones. This broth tasted rushed and lacked the aromatic spices like star anise, cloves, ginger, etc. MEAT - was okay. My tai was not bad. The boys said their meat in their dac biet (combination meats) was not very good. VEGETABLES for garnish - Super sparse! They give a morsel of bean sprouts, basil, and cilantro. I did ask for extra jalapenos and they brought me a bunch. Throwing in a fistful of jalapenos made my broth more bearable. We also ordered the chicken skewers, which were just okay. The meat was a bit dry and no sauce came with them. We asked, and were given some mediocre peanut/hoisin sauce. The "large" thai tea was more like a medium. The most positive part? The service! Waters stayed refilled, which is pretty rare for any Asian place. Yes, it's worth the drive into Buford highway or Pleasant Hill Road for some good pho.

Green Basil is Thai/Vietnamese restaurant located in Suwanee, GA. It's not the first restaurant and I'm sure it won't be the last as South East Asian food has always been popular in GA. I'll start first with the style direction which is very modern and has nice atmosphere that blends both the Asian aesthetics with its more traditional décor. Seating is ample though out the restaurant so you will have plenty of options. The staff is very friendly and are attentive when it comes to the customers needs. The menu is a mix of rice and noodle based dishes. Nothing you haven't seen before if you have gone to and had similar cuisine. The food is good not great but hardly bad in any way. I would say it's average at best which isn't really a negative. Overall, I would recommend people give this a try and voice their own opinion on it. It's convenient for me and it gets the job done. Also their is a limited buy one get one free deal for a bowl of pho!

The perfect mix of that spice red pepper heat and hint of black pepper are exactly why I love about this dish. The shrimp were fried perfectly and the veggies deliciously sauted. The Haemul Jjampong was a flavor and spice bomb. The broth was so flavorful and had a great essence of the seafood in it (squid, mussels, abalone). This soup is also for people not afraid of the spice...it was SPICY, but no so much that it was unenjoyable. The spice complemented the flavor and I loved it. The take-home of the leftovers was just as good the next day! If I had to say anything that they might think of changing, would be the addition of kimchi to the banchan. The banchan was ddanmuji (pickled radish, raw white onions, marinated white onion slivers, and soy marinated peanuts). A little plate mat kimchi to wrap around the Jjampong noodles would be perfection.

We found a restaurant not far from the matcha shop. It felt more like a Chinese takeout spot than a traditional sit-down restaurant, so there wasn't much to speak of in terms of decor. We decided to share everything we ordered. The first dish we tried was the Szechuan noodles. The flavor was excellent, but unfortunately, the dish arrived only lukewarm, as it appeared to have been sitting for a while before being brought to the table. Next, we ordered soup dumplings, but the restaurant accidentally brought out pan-seared dumplings instead. Thankfully, they let us keep them while they prepared our original order. The pan-seared dumplings were actually very good--piping hot and full of flavor. When the soup dumplings finally arrived, they were decent but didn't quite live up to the pan-seared version and lacked the same level of flavor. Finally, our Szechuan chicken arrived. It was hot, fresh, and delicious. The chicken was crispy with a great spice profile that delivered the classic Szechuan kick without being overwhelming. It was served with fried rice, which was fine but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, the experience was good but not exceptional. The food had some strong points, especially the Szechuan chicken and pan-seared dumplings, but the restaurant ultimately felt more like a solid Chinese takeout spot than a destination dining experience.
