walking in here reminds me of the feeling when i use to be the only queer/non-masc person in an…read moreall-male IT department -my friends here have no social awareness/friendliness. it usually is never friendly and it doesn't matter who i'm dealing with, but for the most part, i'm always been helped by the two dudes with locs. what really threw me off is when I came in once and the lighter-dude with locs immediately began to make mention of the scars on my face and thought they were cool... these scars are a reminder of one of the most traumatic, horrific events in my life and while they may look cool and the comment was intended to be harmless, the memory they provide is so not cool...what is it the kids say these days, the vibezz are so not vibingg? but seriously, i always feel immensely awkward leaving this place, super unwelcoming and lacking any warmth. if Wi-Fi isn't the vibezz, is social interaction also not the vibezz? like, what are the vibezz, let me know... the coffee itself tho? tens, tens, tens on the hardwood floor. the menu is a little convoluted and takes a couple times to get what selections are brewed under what methods, but some of the best coffee in detroit, i'll absolutely give them that. you can tell the team is absolutely passionate about coffee and is very diligent about their sourcing. hopefully the next time i decide to pop in they've found a balance .
