What is most disturbing is the lack of regard shown toward children. The behavior we have encountered has left us feeling unsafe rather than welcome. As a Black family, these repeated experiences have made us feel singled out and targeted. The produce didn't seem very fresh, with moldy blackberries, bruised grapes and wilted greens. With the produce being in such a sorry state, we shudder thinking about the quality of the raw meats here. The patrons mainly congregate around the bakery and kitchen, where EverFresh has a hot prepared foods counter, several ovens pumping out fresh bread, and two spits of fresh shawarma. There were quite a number of workers in the back cooking food and baking fresh bread. As we were quite full from lunch, we only picked up the single item that was recommended by my friend. The food took around 10 minutes to come out and as we were waiting, we saw a steady stream of customers come in to order and pick up bread. Arayes ($8) - This is not on the menu, but if you ask for it, they will make the arayes fresh for you. This consists of a flat 8 inch commercial pita, stuffed with a seasoned meat patty, red bell pepper, and cilantro. When eaten fresh, the pita has a bit of a crunch especially on the outer edges, but it gets soggy pretty quickly due to the excess moisture on the veggies/herbs on the interior. Eat it quickly if you don't want it to get too floppy (3/5). The arayes is served with hummus and pickles on the side. The hummus is pretty coarse and lemony, but seasoned well. Not the best hummus, but better than anything pre-packaged (3/5). The pickles add a nice acidity to balance out some of the fattiness of the meat. This review is purely for the bakery and restaurant inside the market. I would never recommend the grocery section of this store, which would be a 2/5 at max. Now the problem is that the restaurant probably uses the produce and meats from the store which is a bit concerning.... We also got the shish kabob, the shish tekka beef and shish tekka chicken. We also picked up a grilled fish. The kabob was very tender and juicy, with a charred outside, and the chicken tekka came by a close second as it was so juicy and flavorful. The tekka beef was a little gristly, but still very delicious. As the chef was pulling them off the skewers, he gave the meat a final sprinkle of seasonings. The meat came with two whole grilled tomatoes and three whole grilled small onions. I'm not sure how you're supposed to eat them since the onions still have their skins and roots attatched, while the tomatoes was very, very juicy. The fish was butterflied and grilled with similar spices added. It's still bone in, so nne careful while eating it! It was cooked perfectly.

They don't have much out, but they have a multi-page list of what they have in stock and they are both knowledgeable and generous with samples. I picked up a really interesting 12-year aged cheddar and tried a few others. There are always a couple of samples out but I've found them unexciting. They have an equally impressive list of meats but I haven't had the chance to explore those. Take the original (and super cool) elevator up to the second or third floors and you can find all kinds of knick knacks from lawn ornaments to Detroit gear. I'm not sure if it was a sale or not, but the last time I was there I picked up a decent quality t shirt for a mere $10. Overall it's a cool store and definitely worth checking out, but unless you're looking for a particularly rare cheese the likelihood of finding anything worth purchasing is slim.

Soft sub buns, tons of stacks of meat, lettuce and tomato or not. No one goes hungry after a sub here. Some deli spots tend to skimp on the protein, but not this place. My team members favorite is the Italian, 6 stacks. I usually will go for a turkey or chicken stack. They offer up to 18 stacks, haven't tried that yet.
