The Green Bicycle Depot just "cycled" through all three of my bikes. I brought them in one at a time for various issues. They were quick, efficient and very affordable! Wonderful service and really cost effective for tires, tubes, and labor- especially in comparison to downtown. The only drawback is that there aren't really cheap bikes for sale in a variety of sizes, but their stock changes constantly. My roommates and I really only go here! read more

I have had only AMAZING experiences coming to the Green Bike Depot! Excellent, Fast and reliable service on top of the great prices they have for used bikes which made it a lot less stressful for me to worry about budgeting for a good quality bike. It's been a little over a year since I bought a used road bike from the GBD and I've came here to tune up my bike every 6 months like the owner(Nelson) suggested and my bike has had no issues what so ever. I just stopped by again 2 weeks ago to get a basket attached and it was done on the spot with no installation charge because the bike as bought at the shop. A little off the beaten path but worth the slightly longer distance! Called multiple bike shops around Davis to get my daughter's bike tuned up before school started. All the shops had at least a several days' wait, one said to make an appointment for October 5 (2012), and this was 10 days before school started and the campus was still relatively empty. Nelson at Green Bicycle Depot took the bike immediately, did the maintanence on the bike for ~$30. He provided courteous, friendly service. Will bring the bike to him again next year. read more

The owner convinced me to buy a new bike, as I would have ways less trouble with that. He charged $250 for a real simple bike (no gear, one brake, steel frame). It was the cheapest offer among the bike dealers downtown (but not in comparison to target, which, as I saw later, sell a quite nice mountain bike for $130). The bike is now one (1!) month old: 1) Pedals come loose all the time, no matter how hard you tighten the screw. Bought a hex to do that (approx. all 2 miles) 2) The bike was in raine once, there is rust on almost every screw and the gear pinion. 3) Brakes were poorly aligned 4) Rim looses coating at the area were the brakes apply 5) Saddle is of poor quality NOT RECOMMENDED! read more

Don't waste your time going anywhere else. My wife and I came here from Sacramento to look for bikes after spending weeks looking in the city. We made this Yelp account just to tell everyone how great Green is. First of all, selection. Green has probably cloae to 200 used bikes, all of which have been tested and brought back to great conditiin. Way more selection than any other place we looked. Secondly, price. There bikes range from 200-400 dollars, whicg for the quality and service is a great deal. We ended up with two bikes for about 500$- the price of ONE bike at the highest rated used bike store in Sac. Third, and most important, service. Nelson was incredibly friendly, helpful, and down to earth. He was incredibly honest and relly just wanted us to find good bikes, even lwtting us know when something was too expensive for our price range instead of just trying to upsell everything. I am 6'4", my wife is 4'9"-- two bicycle height extremes that Nelson helped us fit perfectly. We won't even bother looking for extra accessories or parts online- everything about this place is worth it. If you go anywhere else, you will truly be missing out on one of the best and most stress-free purchases of your life. read more

I was in between classes and it started to rain. I had been putting off buying fenders for too long so yelped bicycle shop and saw Green Bicycle Depot. I rode up to the shop and I told the owner I wanted to buy some fenders. He was really nice and insisted he could install them for before my class started. They were able to get the job done (and they've worked great ever since). I feel like this place is a bit of a hidden gem in Davis. Their prices are super affordable and they insisted I come back if there's ever anything wrong with the fenders and they would fix it for free. How good is that! Excellent customer service. This place is amazing! The people there are experts on bikes, and their service is quick and reliable. I brought them a rusty old bike and they helped me on the spot and made it like new in less than two hours. Later on my bike that I bought off Craigslist had misaligned/ loose brakes and a worn out tire and they fixed it on the spot too. Their parts are really well priced, cheaper than anywhere you can find in Davis ($15 for a u-lock, around $7 for bike light), and they now take credit card. The owner, Nelson, is very passionate about bikes and very friendly, he explains to people without as much knowledge how his bikes work and why you are paying what you are paying (or more often, what his service is actually worth and you realize he's charged you less than he should). read more

Needed some repairs on my son's old mountain bike. The owner, Nelson, gave me a detailed estimate with prices that were better than the other good bike repair shops in town. I didn't need the bike right away so I came back later in the day and the work was completed at the agreed-upon price. The shop isn't fancy and is located towards the back of an Aamco auto repair shop, but if you want bike repairs done honestly at a fair price these guys are worth checking out. read more

I bought a used bike from them and they assured me it was tuned up. The next day, the first day riding the bike, I was bicycling in town and the chain snapped in half while in traffic. Now I wasn't in Davis, so it wasn't a bicycle friendly area. Luckily I managed to get off the road before getting hit. I had to walk it to a bike shop in the city. The bike shop said that part of the bike was bent which caused the chain to break. So I called back to this place asking what they would do, all they said thy would do is replace the chain. For how much I paid for the bike plus having to get it repaired I could have just bought a new bike. read more

Got my brake line replaced and grip replaced here for super cheap and fast. Throughout the whole process they would check in with me to fix any extra problems that they encountered, which was great because I've gone to other shops that go ahead with repairs and then charge you at the end without talking to you about it first. Went here twice, one for installation of a bike rack and the other for a tube replacement. Both times had excellent customer service. Employees clearly were trained and friendly and got the job done. No complaints. Prices were very reasonable, $10 for tube replacement, including labor. $30 for purchase and installation of a rear bike rack. Will come here again for bike servicing needs. read more

I have a bike that's been sitting in the garage unused for 3+ years that I recently decided to start using again. I figured I'd need to replace the tires as they both looked and felt busted, so I took the bike to Green Bike Depot since it had the cheapest prices I could find online. As soon as I showed up someone came out to help me, checked my tires, and promptly told me the only thing I needed was some air in them (which is free). So, that was embarrassing. They typically close at 6pm but we did not arrive until about 5pm. He said that we could bring the bikes back whenever we were done and that he would just come back to put them back in the shop. After having riding cheap target/walmart mountain bikes for my whole life, I had decided to get a road bike. When I went there the owner Nelson was so nice!! He didn't pressure me into buying a certain bike and he told me a lot I didn't know about bikes. The rest of the staff were really nice too, they also helped me and were very knowledgeable. I looked around and picked out a couple road bikes that I liked, he let me test ride them as many times as I wanted. All their bikes have new cables, new cable housing, new wheels, and new tires!! I finally found a bike I liked and now I ride it everywhere. My bike is a late 80's centurion road bike and I found for a really good price! And he gives a 1 month warranty!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in search of a good quality bicycle but doesn't want to spend $1000. I am coming here now in the future for repairs (or maybe even another bike)! read more

New to Davis, just moved here from out of state and wanted to get into the Davis culture but didn't want to spend 400+ on a new bike when my last one was 100. Met two of the guys that work here and they seemed trustworthy enough and they were definitely nice. The bike they sold me wasn't though. They made their suggestions and I tried a few out before picking mine which ended up being the second one he suggested to be as "pretty reliable" saying it's a "good brand" Works fine I guess but the chain bounces off the moment it goes down from the sidewalk to the street so you pretty much have to be careful going down anything more than 3 inches. They also threw in a bike lock without really discussing it at the register, I saw it before I payed but what I didn't realize is that they charged me 40$ for a bike lock which I thought was normal I guess? I've since found most higher quality ones to be 20$ max. Don't get swindled here. read more
