It turns out that the entire new replacement was not built to standard. It's very difficult for ordinary people like us to notice. Therefore, you need to consider this before choosing them.

They did an overpriced, shoddy job installing our roof actually leaving tiles all over it including a tile glue-side down on the skylight that we had to chase them to come remove and a giant permanent black stain on the sidewalk in front of our house. The skylight leaked a month later and again we had to chase them to even get a response. Ignored our calls and would blow off set appointments with no communication whatsoever. Finally they sent two random guys, who didn't bring a ladder (roofers!) and had to use mine, and they charged us more money saying it was because of a mild storm we had. This never happened with our previous roof and was obviously to get out of honoring their fake warranty. Months later the roof leaks again, and again they're either ignoring our calls altogether or the shifty owner tells us a time then blows it off. Avoid this horrible scam of a business at all costs.

I learned so much about our gutters and roofs from that first meeting, he was a wealth of knowledge. Right there, I knew he was our guy. I didn't need Jay to fix the slate anymore but since I was so impressed I happily hired him to do some gutter fixes we needed done and painting a small portion of flat rubber roof white. He did a fantastic job with both. Jay was also the person in charge of our project and doing the work himself. He texted to give me a heads-up before he arrived each day and gave me a recap after each day to share progress and findings (with photos). Over several days of work he found a bunch of previously undiscovered but significant problems that he fixed without charging me more. Jay's integrity is unmatched - he knows that by working on your roof/gutters that his name is forever on that roof/gutter and he takes that very seriously. That was a red flag so I threw his quote in the trash. The third was comparable in price with Sousa and the other, but the sales guy was not so friendly. Like I owed him for his time. Maybe because he saw me as an elder so he felt he could try to take advantage of me, not sure. First off Sousa wasn't the cheapest and frankly about $800 more than the other roofing contractor. The reason I chose Sousa was because they gave me their cost up front, with a very detailed proposal listing everything even with costs up front in case I need to replace plywood etc., and didn't try to haggle me with extras. I did ask if they could take some money off, and they agreed to discount 300 bucks. Still a few hundred more than the other roofer but my gut was telling me lean towards Sousa. There was no start high, then sell me this and that, we have the Cadillac version, we have this version. Just give me a damn quote that tells me what I get and how much. So something didn't sit right with me, so I went with Sousa. Gave them my word over the phone. The next day I met with the owner and we signed the contract and scheduled my roof install. Within six days I had materials delivered, crew showed up at 7am and a new roof installed by 5pm and everything cleaned up. The owner set his guys up in the morning, then popped by again a few hours later and we chatted for a good hour about everything but the roof. What a fine young man he is. Very down to earth and good person. I'm happy with my roof. We have had a lot rain since and no issues so far. My son who lives in Plainville also needs a new roof and has already signed up Sousa to do the work at the end of June. I highly recommend Sousa Roofing and would use them again and recommend them to anyone looking for a roofer. God Bless.
