Seeing the words "Green Chile" combined with "Kitchen" brings feelings of nostalgia and great eats while vacationing in New Mexico. I could not wait to try GCK. I read some reviews and found myself salivating before I'd even pulled into the parking lot. We were seated immediately, and intimately. We literally were packed back to back at a table where the other patrons often rubbed shoulders with each other. While seated. At separate tables. Our server took his time getting to us, but they were busy so that was excusable. Chips and salsa were unremarkable. Definitely not a highlight of their repertoire. The waiter informed us that since it was Wednesday, our kids are free. Score! We ordered our meals. My husband got some taco dish. I had the Navajo tacos. He couldn't eat his tacos. They were soggy and bland. My tacos had so little meat on them, that I almost couldn't identify it. The fry bread was flavorful. But that's the nicest thing I can say about it. Our kids didn't like their food, citing it as "having no taste". My husband ordered the apple pie, which he says he'd go back and eat again, but that's ALL he would eat. Shortly after we requested our check, the manager came to inform us that only two of the kids would eat free, even though the waiter said they were all free. Whatever...we don't mind paying for our kids food, but servers shouldn't tell people something is free when it isn't. Also, when management sees that the ONLY thing really eaten was the pie, and then asks if you enjoyed your food...maybe they should offer some sort of replacement when you tell them it was bland and a major disappointment. But not her. She just said "I'm sorry". ‍ We won't go back. The food has the right names, the right concepts, and a great location. It's the execution of everything from service to flavor that's missing. If you are someone who has never experienced true well-done New Mexican cuisine, you'll probably adore GCK like most of the locals seem to. However, if you know good New Mexican food, STAY AWAY. You will leave dissatisfied and disappointed. read more

Local restaurant in Yukon, Oklahoma. This was my second time back to this gem of a place. Green chile is their thing and they do it pretty well! Smothered burrito is to die for in my opinion, however this time I got the 1/2 rotisserie chicken with mash and Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese is amazing with the cavatappi and white cheddar cheese and...chopped up green chile! The chicken was just ok, the meat was a bit dry for my taste and the green chile rub didn't have the kick I was expecting. If rotisserie is you're thing and you're expecting a flavorful bird, prolly skip it and go with the smothered burrito or fajitas! read more

This is hands down our favorite eatery! Not your typical Mexican restaurant! From the appetizers to the entree's and sides. I've waited to write this until I've been here more times than I can count on both hands. I've never had a bad meal here. Even during Covid quarantine when it was carry out only. The hot green chili queso, can't go there and not order it. The pork tamales are my favorite with mild chili's topping them. I'm not a huge refries and rice fan. But theirs is very good. The flat enchiladas are amazing. The home style enchilada casserole is equally amazing too. The savory stuffed sopapilla's, just had those this evening with the mild chili's. Green Chile Kitchen is my favorite local Mexican restaurant. The staff is always great and the atmosphere relaxed and inviting

The green chile queso is totally worth going for. Some of the menu items are hit and miss. Which is why it's a 4 star and not a 5. It's totally somewhere you should check out just maybe try a few items (if you're in a group) and find the right thing for ordering the next time you're in. We ordered the smothered burritos. The queso cheese they put on the burritos had velveeta mixed in which I had no knowledge that they would do that. I decided not to consume velveeta years ago. They only give you two tortillas per person, and the chips were nothing special. I probably won't visit again. read more

My husband and I love this place! I can never do anything to spicy so the mild green chile is perfect for me, while he says the hot can be even hotter. We always start with the Green Chile queso, and recently tried the Green Chile Chili (I guess it's available Wednesday's and Fridays) and it was AMAZING - super chunky. Green Chile Kitchen, you're not bad. You're not great, but hey, not everyone can be. Green Chile Stew: Mostly flavorless. There really isn't a lot to describe here because it was so boring and bland. Yes, those mean basically the same thing, but I'm doubling down here. CARNE ADOVADA: This was interesting. The sauce on the pork was surprisingly sweet. I'm not sure if it was mole or just the way it was prepared, but I wasn't expecting it. It wasn't BAD, but it wasn't what I was expecting. On the unfortunate side once you get past the sauce then the meat is pretty dry and disappointing. Queso: $7 for some meh queso. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't better than what most places give for free. Keep It Local makes it free so that helped significantly. Salsa: Not great. Reminded of ketchup. Cherry Lime Margarita: $10 for a giant margarita was the best part of this whole thing. I'd come back just for one of these things and probably try a different entree. Good on you. As I said, I'll probably try this again, but I wasn't particularly impressed. Too many Tex-Mex places already exist to get excited about one that doesn't really separate itself from the rest of the pack. read more

Mexican food with a kick! Most everything is made with some sort of green or red chile, so keep that in mind if you don't like them. Luckily, I like them. The lunch portions are large, so don't worry about getting full. The inside isn't huge so it can fill up quickly during peak lunch or dinner times. Every single thing on the menu is good ! I love the pasole and the tamales ! My husband gets the frito pie and loves it. The portions are very large so you get great value! I also order their pies as gifts and so I don't have to make them myself. Try the peanut butter chocolate! Took family there tonight and the food was excellent as usual, but unfortunately Frank, our waiter, was not. My boyfriend is highly alergic to tomatoes and he clearly stated it to Frank in order to keep them off his plate. His plate came garnished with tomatoes. I ordered something not on the menu (but I've ordered there before) and I had to repeat it 5 times to him, and he still got it wrong. We will continue to eat there and I have recommended it to everyone I know. Delicious and authentic New Mexico cuisine, and the majority of the staff are very good at what they do! Really enjoyed my visit to Green Chile Kitchen. My family spends a lot of time visiting Colorado and New Mexico and the food here really reminds me of some dishes I've had on those trips. I ordered the smothered burrito topped with green Chile. It was really good and a great level of spice. We also had chops and salsa and queso which were all great. I'm not in Yukon very often but when I am I will definitely come back to Green Chile Kitchen. read more

DO NOT CONFUSE THEIR FOOD WITH NEW MEXICAN FOOD. Tonight was my first and last time to visit this place...Three of us arrived at 7:30 pm today..We were seated promptly at a table with a top so loose I thought it was going to fall off... We were served their red sauce and chips..I asked about roasted green chili sauce and was curtly told that our waiter could get that for us...All 3 of us agreed the red sauce they served tasted more like a Marinara sauce than anything even remotely Mexican.... Our waiter arrived and I asked him about a roasted hot green chili sauce..All they have is the sauce they put on food as it is served..I asked for that and he brought me a SMALL ramekin of sauce.. The only thing hot was the heat from the stove..Very bland and tasteless .It looked and tasted like it was dumped out of a can..This WAS NOT a roasted green chili sauce . I ordered the Mew Mexico style smothered burrito Christmas with hot green sauce with chicken. My friend ordered the smothered burrito with steak strips and my partner ordered Carne Adovado... Our food arrived shortly and as everything else it was a disappointment..Smothered meant here wasn't enough sauce to completely cover the burrito..In New Mexico when I order a chicken burrito, I expect , and it is filled with chicken...This had more beans than anything in it and what little chicken that was in it tasted like boiled and diced chicken breast...In New Mexico when it says it's smothered it's completely covered in the sauces..The burrito's were dry on the end because there was not enough sauce to cover them. I ordered retried beans and no rice...The beans were thick , dry and bland. This is the first time I've ever walked out of a restaurant that served Mexican, New Meaican , Tex-Mex or even Okie-Mex and left food on the plate . Tonight I did. My partner's carne adovado had a sauce on it unlike anything you'll find in New Mexico.. I don't know how they make their rice but it has to be the worse attempt at serving a side of rice I've ever seen. He couldn't eat it . My partner is Hispanic, born and raised in New Mexico, I've lived years in New Mexico..He and I are both great cooks if I say so myself and know how to cook and season New Mexico style food...We know what roasted green chili is supposed to taste like. We always keep it on hand..So we know New Mexican food... THIS IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO NEW MEXICAN.. For those that give this food a good rating all I can say is...You've never had good New Mexican style food.. read more
