Don't let the location scare you away. We knew we must be in for a great meal when the parking lot was so full we had to park at the run down motel behind the restaurant. However, once you get inside the atmosphere is great! We went at about 6pm on a Saturday and the place was very busy but they seated us right away and quickly took our drink orders, and brought chips and salsa. The salsa was very good and had a smoky flavor. We also ordered the queso with mild chiles. It was to die for! I could have literally just had that to drink, but I did order a margarita! It's served in large mason jar and while not the best margarita I've ever had, it was pretty good! As far as our actual meals, I had the pork tamales, and my husband has the chile rellenos. The tamales were a bit dry but the pork inside was delicious. My husband ate his chile rellenos so fast I didn't get a chance to try them but he said they were excellent! The poblano pepper (not 100% sure they use a poblano) was a bit spicier than he had anticipated but he loves spicy. All in all, I can see this being a usual dining spot for us when we move to Yukon. read more

For Oklahoma, it's not bad. It's an attempt at more of a modern Mexican/America fusion. The atmosphere is very simple but the tables are piled in for maximum seating which takes away from the overall atmosphere. I had the Carne Adovada burrito and I was not terrible pleased with the meat. The seasoning had a sweet hint to it that just wasn't my thing. Just be prepared for non complimentary items people are used to. I asked for soft tortillas because of dental work chips are hard only 4 were in the holder and it's not complimentary and server doesn't tell you when you ask for relish or more. This is my and first and visit! The cashier/greeter was very rude and snobby. She made disrespectful facial expressions over a simple question i had asked. I guess if your appearance aint up to her standards she will treat you with the same unwelcoming attitude. Needless to say no matter how good the food may be i will never come here again. Normally I like this place, but 5 of us went to eat and 2 had an alcoholic drink. The bill was $143 before the tip. My order was wrong. I ordered cheese enchiladas with green chili queso sauce. I got pork enchiladas and if there was queso on it, it was so thin that it looked like only a little shredded cheddar cheese was sprinkled on it. They were SO dry. I was charged $2 upcharge for the non existent queso. My friend asked for the $5 side dish of guacamole and received a tiny sized cup. She asked if that was the side order size. The waitress said Oh, did you want the large? They brought out another tiny cup, only it was queso, not guacamole. We sent it back for the guacamole. Just horrible service. I normally love the green chili queso, but tonight it had zero flavor. The chips had an aftertaste like they were old or the grease they were cooked in was old. Overall...bad experience tonight. We were there to celebrate my friend's birthday and the food was seriously lacking. So disappointed. read more

Food and service was great but something I witnessed during my time there has made me change my review. There was a large group of ladies that were sat at tables near us. Shortly after sitting, they were informed they were out of margaritas so they decided to leave. They were at the tables only a few minutes but I did witness a a girl eating the chips and salsa that were placed on the table. Almost immediately after they left, they sat another group in their place without changing out chips, salsa, or appetizer plates. Any other time I'd understand the waste in food if it hadn't been touched but we are in the middle of a pandemic and food that a group was able to talk over and even eat from one of the baskets of chips should not be reused no matter what. read more

This is some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. The staff was super courteous from the moment I walked in. I wanted to place a to-go order but didn't know what to order so the hostess helped me pick. I got a frito burrito with carne, and it was 1) HUGE and 2) delicious. Best Mexican food in the area...by far. Costs more than Ted's and the like, but once you get your plate you can see and taste why! Good quality ingredients prepared well. The chips are crispy and the salsa always has a great flavor (not spicy, just good). My husband loves the grilled smothered burrito with steak and queso. If you're in Yukon, Oklahoma you have to check this place out. We have been a few times and have left stuffed every time. The service is just OK, but the food makes up for it. Meh. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good either. I am pretty sure the refried beans were canned and the rice from a package. Very little flavor and gross texture. The tacos were nothing special. I could get decent tacos from Taco Bell. The chips were ok, the salsa was probably the only good thing. Everything else was just a step above Taco Bell and definitely not as good as Ted's or On the Border. My review of Green Chile Kitchen is a bi-polar conundrum I usually reserve for reviews on books. Green Chile Kitchen is both wonderful and disappointing simultaneously. The good--The queso with green chilies is solid. I enjoy both the beans and rice sides. The salsa is a flavorful restaurant style that is neither too chunky, nor too runny. The Savory Sopapilla is so good, especially topped with the queso. The staff seems to be efficient, and the building is comfortable. Now the bad--I wish I could clear up this whole green chile issue for everyone, but I fear I will not be able to. But I will somewhat try. In New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming a staple of mexican food there is what we call "green chili". This "green chili" or "chili verde" is made by making a roux with Chilies, pork, onion, garlic, and various other ingredients that is roasted. The final result is a fairly chunky " stew" type dish that can be eaten like a stew, put on main dishes as you would gravy, or used like a dip. From what the servers have told me at Green Chili Kitchen and from everything I've ordered here, they DO NOT have "green chili". They have green chilis grown in New Mexico, which is not what those of us looking for "green chili" have come to love in the Rocky Mountains. So if you're looking for "green chili" like you'd find at any Mexican restaurant in Colorado or Wyoming, you wont find it here (or most anywhere in Oklahoma from what I can tell). For those who are curious look up El Jardin in Commerce City, Colorado. Best "green chili" I've found. My only other negative is that Green Chili Kitchen is expensive for mexican food. My beloved Savory Sopopilla is $14, which is high if you ask me. All in all, Green Chili Kitchen is probably my favorite Mexican food restaurant I've come across in OKC. But expect to pay more and don't expect "green chili" or "chili verde". read more
