Overall, Mick (owner) and his team's work was thorough and detailed, and I would recommend him to other home owners, and consider him for my next project. 1) Mick (the owner) was the most thorough in bidding compared to other contractors. He came to the house multiple times, brought subcontractors to look at the job, and ultimately gave an estimate that was competitive and had my confidence. 2) Mick was one of the safest and most punctual contractors I have met. The work would start at the exact time every day, the work site would be thoroughly cleaned each day, and there would be high emphasis on safety (hard hats, signage, etc) 3) Mick had to communicate with an architect, three engineers, and a variety of subcontractors and he handled that very well. He was always a step ahead in seeing upcoming problems to resolve. 4) Mick was at the job site and worked with others himself each day! This raised the quality and made sure the work stayed on track. 5) the work finished on time, as previously estimated, despite the fact that the work was done during the rainy winter. 6) Most importantly, the end result was great, all inspections passed on the first try, and other contractors and subcontractors that visited the site were impressed. Mark, Robert and crew did a new 24' x 31' garage slab for me last fall. It was complicated: lot…read moresloped south, garage floor needed to slope north, new plumbing needed to be covered but not too high, level room in back, and bathroom completely separate level with floor drain. Robert knows slopes and levels inside and out; I'm knowlegeable about construction, but I had a hard time following; I asked lots of questions, and then checked out all the lines and grades for myself. Even on the day of the pour, Robert was willing to accommodate adjustments. They told me to trust them, but concrete is one case where any mistakes are literally set in stone. And, I don't trust yelp reviews completely because most people don't know enough about construction to know if things are done right even after the fact. (I'm not the easiest person to work for.) I've done many, many concrete jobs before (foundations, retaining walls, slabs, underpinning...) but I've never had any concrete contractor as experienced, knowledgeable and particular about quality. Seeing this team work together during the pour was a thing of beauty. With concrete you have to work fast and they were like a well oiled machine. Everyone knew their part and did it. Their price was competitive and their work was above the competition by a long shot.

In the end, he recommended making it a ground-level bed with a retaining wood barrier behind (my neighbor's side yard is higher than mine). His team worked really hard, especially as there turned out to be a huge root and stump that I had no idea was there (and which was expensive to remove). He also put in a new side gate as the existing one was so old as to be unusable. I am pleased with the result, and especially pleased to have had the work completed so soon and so quickly.

Update: After having no luck of getting hold of anyone in this company for many months, I hired…read moreanother landscape company, thinking it could simply be ground movement causing the pavers to collapse. With the other company, as they were working in the garden, we discovered that 1) the retaining wall for all 3 tiers( with one tier supporting surrounding fence as well ) were curving, creating the gap on the edges. We spent $$ to add additional post between existing posts, instead of every 4 feet, we have a post every 2 feet now. 2) Our base-rocks was only 2-3". In our contract with Bloom and Lawn Landscape, it was supposed to be 5". Instead of paying additional $15000++ to fix this problem, somehow, miracles happened that I managed to get hold of Joel, the owner. He came with his new hire, Cesar to evaluate the problem. It seemed that Cesar responded to "my email", except he did not send it to me but only to his own team. I don't know what went wrong in the initial work. I decided not to pursue , we just want the repair done. Too much time and money wasted already. As per today, all the pavers and tuff have been reset. No original ground was removed, but instead they compacted existing ground, and they brought in more base rocks to top up. I did not get to check if it went up to supposedly 5" , I hope they are honest this time. Initially, the crew came once a week, on Saturdays to do the repair, so it took them over a month to complete our garden. After the 3rd Saturday, they came on weekdays too. It could have been done in 6 days. I was getting frustrated, I had to clean the pathway to garden almost every weekend in July after the crew left! I am giving 3 stars because they did a good job to reset the pavers . The crew are courteous and careful enough not to damage our interior ( backyard is lower than basement, with only entrance at street level). Cesar is responsive to my text messages and professional. I do think they are good at what they are doing. I have respect for the crews, not an easy job to be working outdoors in hot sun and strong winds, or foggy cold days. All and all, I am just glad that this is over. Now I just need to repair all the badly scratched up wood planks of retaining wall and wood stairs!

We had been pleased with Louis before work had started so when our neighbor (whom we share a fence) asked for his contact info, I passed it along. The construction on our home was delayed, due to Covid, and we could not start the landscape until our home was further along so our neighbor began her project first. We had spent $15k+ on a survey, which included markers around our property and our neighbor's properties so the city could make sure we were building in accordance with the plans/code. The old fence between our two yards was 1.5' into our yard and needed to be rebuilt on the property line (which Louis knew+the markers showed). The contractor for my house noticed Louis had taken down the survey marker that was on our neighbor's back fence, a fence Louis replaced. Louis denied taking it down and never offered an apology or to make it right. Our neighbor's new hedge now needs to be transplanted because a fence will be going in its place. Our neighbor is furious, understandably. It offset the layout of her small backyard. We talked about getting her a larger hedge.. Louis reached out to his vendor for a quote and called us "assholes" in his email, of which he then forwarded to us! Unprofessional does not even begin to describe Louis. He is an arrogant, hot head with zero personal skills. I was appalled at how he handled the situation. DO NOT HIRE HIM!!

They worked with me on figuring out how to hide a sump pump pipe and navigating through our neighbor's concerns. The build quality is very nice and the crew was great about making adjustments for issues we discovered during the build. They even made the back of the fence look nice for our neighbor by covering the sump pipe. Communication with Wilson and his onsite crew was great. They also did a very good job cleaning up. They didn't have the cheapest quote but I felt this is one of those kind of things where you get what you pay for. For something we see every day I wanted it to be right. Great job A1!
