Hands down they are awesome!! We started the search for solar late last year. We got quotes from all the big players. Some small ones too. We had talked about refinancing our house and pulling cash to purchase the system. A 25yr lease seems dumb to not own it after (Sunrun). With sun power we were able to finance it (which means we own it not a lease) for a crazy good rate, better than the super low refinance rates even, so no refinancing the house, great! Sun power wasn't the cheapest but for good reason. 1) we own it (after 15years, but you have 10,15,20, and 25 year options) 2) superior panels means you need less for same output 3) panel aesthetics are top notch. (No conduit outside, all ram thru the attic so not visible, no ugly brackets 4) 25 year roof warranty. Good luck getting a roof warranty from the other companies and getting them to stand behind it! So after deciding to pull the trigger, which shoutout to Deanne our sales rep who was awesome, set us up with our project manager April. She was also great, set us up and gave us options, they listened to our concerns and actually cared. Now comes time for the installation. Great Professionalism, transparent pricing and good financing terms! (My review is for the quote I received from SunPower. I opted for another provider at the end) I have been considering getting solar for a while but since the solar credit is expected to drop in subsequent years, I decided to take the time to do my due diligence so I can have solar installed by year end. Since the cost of installing solar is high ($20K-$40K), I took a couple of weeks to learn the products available and research reputation of multiple installers. Here are the highlights of my experience with Green Convergence: 1) Superior product with SunPower solar panels Sunpower, LG and Panasonic are considered to be the top tiers of solar panels. For Sunpower, the annual degradation in the effectiveness of solar panel is better than newer/affordable tiers like Qcells or Canadian Solar. Most solar panel manufacturers are pretty young companies but Sunpower has been in the market for the longest at 35 years. 2) Attractive financing I compared financing options between this company and others and they offer financing as low as 0.99% for 10 year loan, which is lower than 5-7% I saw elsewhere. 3) Great Professionalism The sales representative I spoke to was very knowledgeable and one of their selling point was to organize professional roofers to perform solar installation to protect your roof. 4) More expensive products I received quotes from 4-5 other vendors and Sunpower was about 35-40% more expensive. The other quotes I received included solar panels from Canadian Solar or Qcell. I did some research and found most customers are happy with Canadian Solar/Qcell and their degradation in panel effectiveness is only slightly more than Sunpower. Since the cost difference was significant and I did not need financing for my solar project, I decided to go with another provider. I have had my solar system for over 3-years. There is a red light blinking on my solar equipment. I have contacted the company on 3 different occasions. No response. Erik Johnson in customer service keeps telling me to "Keep an Eye on it". I have kept an eye on it. It is still blinking red like a light on the dashboard of my car. Something is askew with something. Green Convergence should address the problem and rectify it, not tell me to, "Just keep an eye on it" for 6-months. Sun Power is the biggest scam in the world. They have no customer service whatsoever. It took us over 150 emails and phone calls to get through to them once we signed the documents. Original quote was for the back-up battery and 17 panels. It was for $47,000. They finally came out and did a site visit months later, and then told us we had to get our garage floor x-rayed in order for them to drill into it. We never even thought the battery would have to go in the garage. They wanted another thousand dollars for the x-ray survey. No one ever mention anything about that to us. Now they're sending us a new contract for $54,000 in order to trench and install the battery in our garage where we never wanted it. I have tried to tell them 10 different times that we already have a conduit going to the garage to supply our Tesla plugs. There's no place to install the battery there. A $7000 up charge that nobody ever mentioned to us. I am horrified that a company as big as Sun Power can do business like this. Stay away from them, they are horrible crooks. read more

I waited a long time to write this review as often companies should be judged how they treat their customers post install. In late 2018 I started to look for Solar and picked this company as they offered very competitive pricing and were willing to upgrade my Main Electrical Panel and all the work would be done by their company not outsourced. All the work, install was done with highest professionalism possible. Stucco got paint matching, conduit was run through attic. Very clean setup, i would say better than i expected 1/19//2019 I went Live with my system. Every year and every month I produced as much if not slightly more as what was promised to me on paper. I really liked that. I got monitoring which i check often to make sure system is running top notch. Now the hiccups 1) 3/2022 system came with 12 years of free monitoring using 3g wireless service. I got an email form GC warning me about it and giving me my options. I was not happy with, complained and even talked to SolarEdge who said thats the way it is. I wish GC would have an option to connect ethernet cable when Inverter was installed outside as in my case, their only option was if it was inside or paying significant amount to get 4G. I opted to do the work myself and higher electrical to help me with conduit. Sure i was not happy, but in the end of it i had options and was warned 2) 8/2022 My production went to zero. I reboot equipment and still no go, I called GC to open a ticket. Within a day or 2, i was told Inverter is dead and they submitted RMA. Great right? Well yes, but SolarEdge is/was backlogged on at least the inverter I had and it took a whole month, 30 days to get it replaced and installed. I understand it is not GC fault, would be nice if they kept some spares, but in the end of it they came out replaced it, patched up and configured it. Yes, for a whole month i lost production, which i am not happy, but i cant put blame on the company that services it 3) I got my panels cleaned by company that GC outsources and they guy did amazing job, now they are shiny? While this is not a hiccup, i wish service would come standard with purchase or offered some discount due to whole system being down. I got Solar system,SunPower, for my house from them. The payment process was a nightmare. They lost the check and I needed to go to bank to stop on several checks. Suddenly, the app for solar stopped working, I texted their cellphone and called them but they did not call me back or responded to my texts. I called SunPower and they guy over the phone was absolutely clueless and did not know what he was talking about, even he reach a point saying I do not any account with them or for the app to work, I need to open a new email account with Google or Yahoo. Eventually after month that app started working, it showed that my solar system is smaller than before and it is 6.48 kW while previously it was showing it was 8.075 KW. I got about seven solar bids before choosing to go with Sun Power by Green Convergence. They weren't the cheapest, who am I kidding, they were the most expensive. But it was clear that SunPower panels were quite simply the best in the industry and for me putting something on my roof for 25 years I wanted the best. Second, they have their own, full time employees doing the work and they are REAL roofers and electricians. They don't sub-contract the work, they do it right the first time, and they don't make excuses. In addition with the SunPower micro-inverters and Green Convergence's attention to detail the appearance on the outside of the home (outside the panels themselves of course) is very minimal. I also had a great time communicating with the team back at the office. My system got installed ahead of schedule and the minor errors that happened as you might expect with a project of this scale, were handled with grace and speed. If you don't want to read the detailed review below, then just know I thoroughly researched and met with many solar companies and SunPower by Green Convergence was by FAR the best. Sales, technical, customer service, installation, project management were all amazing! Thank you Sam, Jackie, Pete and Jeff! I started my solar search in 2020 with Tesla. I figured why not, since I love my Model 3. Well this was by and far the worst experience, especially from a customer service standpoint. The biggest flaw was there requirement to replace my entire roof (it has between 10-15 years left) at a cost of $24k and also to replace my 2018 200 amp electrical panel. Fast forward to the end of 2022, I received a random email stating that if I call and meet with them I would get a $75 gift card. I did and they sent one of their contractors, but not GC. We met and it was good, but I felt I didn't learn enough. So I went down the list and met with Semper Solaris (good salesperson), SunRun from Costco and a couple independent outfights in my community. I did most of my reaching out through Yelp! I also got contacted by Sam from Green Convergence. He let me know that I could choose my affiliates SunPower contractor and didn't have to stick with the first one I met with. So I met with him too. The independents were not great and one wouldn't give me a price until I told him the prices from the others I met with. SunRun was ok, but didn't knock my socks off. I met with Sam and was very impressed. He thoroughly explained the different types of panels. Told me the various wattage options. Completely covered the warranties, which are the best. No one else offers a 25 year roof penetration warranty. Their panels also degrade at the slowest rate. I was just about sold, but still had to meet with Semper Solaris. The guy I met with was really good, so I narrowed my search to SunPower with Green Convergence. Why did I end up choosing GC? The warranty, the craftsmanship of the panels, the power of the panels, SP has been around than any other solar provider...well, and Sam. The guy from Semper was good, but didn't follow up after our meeting. Sam was persistent but not pushy and just handled things well. Once the inspection was done I was informed that the roof penetration warranty would only be 10 years. My roof was boarder line. It needs to have more than 10 years of life. They offered to do the work on just the portion of the panels or they said I could hire my own contractor. So I called San Ventura Roofing (plug for them). They have been great to me and have me the lowest price of 3 estimates. So I did the roof in order to get the 25 year warranty. Within 2 weeks after my roofing job, GC was on my roof. Pete and Jeff were the two leads and they were polite, helpful, and did an amazing job. They took about 2 days to install the panels, run and electrical and set things up. Jackie was our project manager and was very prompt and helpful. She got the inspector out within a week and while they had to make a couple adjustments here and there, they were done in a couple days. The adjustments were with the grounding of my water pipes under our raised foundation home. After LADWP came out (within 3 working days) to install a meter we were set to go. A quick call with Jackie to set up the app and walk me through a couple things and I now have solar power! Thanks SunPower and Green Convergence. Not the cheapest, but the best quality, customer service, warranty and overall experience. read more

First off I would never consider hiring a Solar company without them being a roofing company at heart. I know that by choosing Green Convergence my entire project will be covered under one warranty for both roof and panels. I did not want to have a situation come up where one side, roof for example, would point to the solar side, panels, saying it's their fault. Much more comfort in having one company responsible for the entire project. Every person I dealt with from sales to service; installation to project managers was professional, courteous, and genuinely a nice person. They were right there with me every step; especially when it came to working with my local utility company, LADWP, and LA building and safety. I believe my install will last the life of my home. We were put in contact with Nadia, who from the beginning, was always very professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. She answered all our questions and was prompt with setting up appointments and any follow up we needed. During the process, if we ever needed any further information or updates, she was able to help us or direct us to any specialist for assistance. Everyone we spoke to was also very knowledgeable and courteous. Ultimately and unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to cancel our project before it ever started. I'm quite pleased with the installation of our solar panels as well as the SunVault Storage battery. Since we received Permission to Operate (PTO) from Edison in late September 2022, the system has lived up to its promise of dramatically reducing our electricity bill. And, the backup battery has so far demonstrated a couple of times that it works well during a power outage. I cannot, however, give Green Convergence 4 or 5 stars, primarily because of very poor project management. For example, the sales rep was very nice and made that part of the process very easy. Howevever, during that sales process, she did over and over again say that it would be about 3 months from contract signing to PTO. In reality, it took 4 1/2 months. The first rule of sales is to set expectations properly. That was not done here. Once the sales contract was signed, a project manager was assigned by Green Convergence. Unfortunately, from that point forward, things did not go smoothly. Updates on the fire dept review and city permit approval only came when I asked. No proactive outreach to me with status update were made. The process of getting the city permit issued only occurred because I intervened and contacted the local planning department myself to get the permit approval process going. It turned out that the permit was overlooked by the city and, only because I directly checked with the planning department, did the permit finally get issued. This could have and should have been done by Green Convergence. Additionally, because I installed a SunVault Storage battery, I was entitled to receive a sizeable Self Generation Incentive Payment from So Cal Edison. That process was supposed to be handled by Green Convergence. I was told by the Green Convergence project manager that it should take 8-10 weeks after PTO to receive the rebate. Well, at 12 weeks I contacted Green Covergence. Turns out that GC forgot to submit the final incentive payment claim form. They blamed it on a system error but, an oversight like that is just evidence of poor quality control and process checks. Now, it'll be another 4-5 weeks at least before I receive the incentive payment. Notwithstanding, though, all of the process problems, the actual installation process went smoothly. All of the work was neat, clean and so far well done. And, in the end, a working solar + battery system was the point of this project. From that perspective, I'm quite pleased. However, if you use Green Convergence, you do need to make sure that you stay on top of them every step of the way, as any oversight or missed step can result in significant delays of one type or another. read more

In 2019, after receiving a rave review from a friend in Pasadena who had a stellar experience on their solar install with Green Convergence, we had them perform a complete re-roofing and install of solar panels on our Spanish-style home in Altadena (picture attached). I purchased my system in 2013 from Green Convergence (Sun Power). I had a red light issue in October 2023. Green Convergence sent over 2 techs who where on the phone with Sun Power for over 2 hours. (Documented). I was informed that I needed a "New Brain" for my inverter. I was told that one was being ordered. In the interim the techs did do something that caused my red light to stop going off. So I currently have two inverters working ok; however, that's when the back and forth started with the company. For months they said the parts were on order. Then they said that my inverter was "out of warranty". ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! I was smart enough to have Leased my system so that any repairs became the responsibility of the Leasing Company, (Which as it happens is also Sun Power). Company has NOW informed me that the part is no longer available thru the manufacturer. WOW!! So--- when and if one of my inverters fails, what am I supposed to do??? Does the performance guarantee reimburse me for any inverter outages during the remaining term of the lease? I don't know. You would be amazed the back and forth emails I have. Bottom line, I would never recommend a company that can't live up to it's long term obligation to repair/replace parts on systems they sell and supposedly service. Like buying a car with a warranty, having the transmission fail and being told "well me don't have those parts anymore". REALLY!!! What can I say. First encounter with Jeff was in 2017 when he came out and gave my wife and I a quote. Very easygoing guy, no hard sale, just information. We didn't get solar from anyone. Flash forward to 2019 and I was ready, my neighbor wanted to get solar also so between the two of us we called 10 companies and booked appointments, we sat thru them all taking notes and putting together comparisons. Others: used panels from one company and inverter from another, they all "Represented" brands but were just door to door salesman who really couldn't give us any history on the company they worked for. JEFF, he came out again, remembered everything about my project, was great about updating us on new technology and how prices had changed and why. My neighbor was sold on Jeff and Green Convergence because they were lowest price per kilowatt, used only SUNPOWER Components and were honest enough to say...in October.. that we would not be installed by Jan 1, so we would miss out on the tax deduction for 2019. Everyone else said they might make it, but could not guarantee it. But Jeff simply said not going to happen as rain delays roof projects and Nov and Dec were traditionally wet. Well he was right, the rain fell like crazy and jobs were delayed. We ended up getting installed in Jan and love the system and the quality. The owner of the company came out to double check the site before the plans were submitted. The team of guys from the bracket installers to the panel installers and the electricians were all polite, and very clear about what they were going to do that day. Everything went smoothly. We did have one delay in getting the system activated on DWP, but that was the DWP delaying this due to Corona Virus. It took 6 weeks for DWP to process the "Turn On" papers. Jacki from Green Convergence copied me on all the emails she sent to DWP so I saw she was trying, but it was special times and we were patient. Finally 3 trucks from DWP showed up and 3 guys showed up and installed a new Meter in 5 minutes. A waste of manpower and probably what caused me to wait 6 weeks as it takes the DWP 3 guys to do the job of 1. We really love the APP that shows our production and we got follow up paperwork for all we need on the system. Jacki keeps in touch and called last week to see if everything was okay. I highly recommend you compare the same panels and inverters from different companies, otherwise you can't be accurate on your cost per Kilowatt. That is the only comparison that works. We looked into several different companies for solar panels after we purchased a new house, and out of all the companies, Issac R. (sales rep) from Green Convergence was most prompt, kind, responsive, and knowledgeable. He helped us not just with the panel installation, but also with roofing, new meter upgrade, EV charger installation, permits and the loan procedure. He always kindly responded to my endless questions promptly. Jamie (project manager) was also very kind and helped us get through the whole process of installation and getting approval to operate so smoothly. All the techs who came out to my house for inspection, installation, and other finishing works were all very nice and did an awesome job. Absolutely do NOT purchase/lease your solar panels from SunPower. There are reputable options! I have had my panels from SunPower since 2015 and it has been a nightmare. We are paying for the panels on top of our substantial electric bills. Since the panels go off line, we have had years of non-performance. The sale person lie and the customer service seem nice but the problems do not get resolved. read more

Dear DJ and Darren, I understand that you feel that since you have upheld your "end" of the deal in getting my mother's service working, you now have the right or authority to call and harass her into getting me to update my Yelp review. So here you go... I'm going to give you 3 stars because the "service" she paid you for is currently working. The fact that you wrote a 2 page letter not taking any ownership of the issues doesn't sit well with me but you did in fact pay for the usage during the time her solar panels were not producing. I will tell you that if her service does go out again and the call isn't coming from your monitoring service, like you have told us and you sold her in the 25 year warranty, much like how it didn't tell you when she was out of service for over a month and it didn't get resolved until I contacted your company we will have issues in the future. At this point, if her service goes down and you do not notify her I won't leave any more Yelp reviews. Also you will not be contacting my mother and yelling, strong-arming or raising your voice at her, you will just hear from a legal representation as you have breached the service contract. Please don't take this as a threat, it's more of an example of the level of frustration we have with your company. So to make sure you understand, you have gotten a 3 star review at this time because it's working. If you are upset with the review look at the way you handle your customers but do not feel like you have any right to contact us complaining about this rating. If that doesn't stop I will take legal actions to end your harassment of your customer. Calling someone 10 times asking them to change their review or else you might not be in business to give them service isn't a good way to get good reviews. read more
