Our first time here. It's clear this pace is a Mexican town favorite. The service was good the wait time was on our phone letting us know where we were in line. There's a waiting area in the back of the establishment allowing group gatherings with a short order drink bar and corn hole game boards. The crowd atmosphere is joyful waiting their place in line. You need to be a slider connoisseur to be a repeat customer. I'm already on the fence about burger not homemade on a grill, I rarely eat a burger at a restaurant but I was with a large group that chose this place. Cool, old school style inside. Only 4 or so beers on tap and none were my preference but a huge can selection. Not my style but that's fine, they had something in a can I enjoyed. I just didn't enjoy the price of a can compared to the size. Service is quick! We got every slider on the menu (our group was +10 people) so I got to see and sometimes had a tiny bite of other ones besides mine. The best was Mystery Meat! After that it says it was just OK. Fish was probably the bottom. We all had a different opinion on which we're 2nd and 3rd best. Prob standard cheese burger and then the venison chili fries (ok- not a slider but that was how the hard core slider lovers voted too). It had been years since I've been to Green Dot Stables, and I wasn't overjoyed by my visit. I tried the Mystery Meat Slider (Braised beef cheek with a potato cake), a Philly Cheesesteak Slider, some Truffle and Herb Fries, and a Mystery Dessert (Chocolate Cake). First, the Mystery Meat Slider wasn't that good. The beef did not have a pleasant flavor, reminding me of something you'd get in a hospital cafeteria. I did like the flavor of the steak on the Philly Cheesesteak, but the sandwich was ruined for me by the cheese. I wished they would have used Cheese Whiz, not squeeze cheese. I did love the Truffle and Herb fries, and they were the only thing I would order again. They were hot, salty, and had a flavor I associate with truffles. The chocolate cake was a disappointment. My sister has been here a few times and always went on about the food. We were out and about today and I suggested stopping here for lunch. I had no idea that the menu was only sliders as I am not a big fan (same with small plates). There were five of us and we each ordered two sliders plus an order of fries for each. The fries came out fairly promptly, and we sat there looking at them not knowing whether we should eat them or wait for the sliders. Four of us ordered regular fries and one ordered Cajun, and when they were brought out, they were set down on the end of the table, and we were told to sort out for ourselves who got what. About 15 minutes later, the sliders came out after we had finally started eating and finished the french fries (which were good although small portion sized). I told the server that I generally prefer to have my sides delivered with my main dish, and she said that they were a small restaurant with a small kitchen and that everything was à la cart, so they deliver food when it's ready. I told her I had been at many à la carte restaurants in my life, but I've never had food brought out like that before. Reading the other reviews, other people have had the same complaint, so maybe they should start telling people this fact. Each of us got different sliders, and again the server just set them at the end of the table and told us to sort out who got what. As far as the quality of the sandwiches, well, they were nothing to write home about. Needless to say, I have no desire to go back. An additional point is that when we arrived, we had to wait for a table, and were directed to the patio in the back. It was a cold winter day with temperatures around 20°, and the patio was comfortable, so I didn't understand why they couldn't put some patio heaters out there and pick up some extra seating. This place has been hyped up for years and did not meet the mark. We went on a Saturday night at 6pm. I'm coming from the point of view of a food and service. First, the food is fine. I got the Korean and cheese burger slider, the cheeseburger slider was very good, the Korean slider was meh. And I love Korean food. It may be better if you like more Americanized Korean, but the burger patty was pretty dry still. The venison chili cheese fries were fantastic. Would get those again and the cheese burger. My friend got 2 grilled cheese and the first was good but the second was all soggy and we didn't touch it. The service was also meh. Some people were very nice and some had an attitude. The hostess especially was rude, which set a bad tone for the night. The waitress was nice but we ordered plain fries after the sliders came out and it took over 20 minutes for them to come out. She brushed me off when I asked her to check on it again but then I asked a different waiter and he got it out right away. Atmosphere is a pub, too popular to be a dive bar but that kind of idea. Been here twice and had a decent time. We came in at around 630 on a Tuesday and were able to get a table, but it was pretty full. I had: - Wedge Salad - pretty good and a decent size for what you pay. Had good bleu cheese. Is thousand Island dressing customary on a wedge? At any rate, I enjoyed it just fine. - Korean Slider - my boyfriend hyped this up as his favorite. It was pretty basic, from what I could tell just a regular burger patty, peanut butter (needed more), and some kimchi. I wasn't blown away ‍. - Tofu Bahn Mi - this was really good. I enjoyed the crunch of the veggie and pickled items. The tofu is well cooked and marinated, my only criticism is the marinade or sauce they put in it is too sweet. Otherwise nailed it. It seemed to take a while for our sliders to come out. Not sure why other than it was fairly busy. Otherwise service was a little slow but decent enough considering. I'd return to try other slider options without complaint. If I drank, I'd be pleased with the beer and cocktail selection. They offer a variety of sliders ranging from the classic cheeseburger to venison chili. I had the Fish Fry slider. We weren't sure what to expect at Green Dot Stables. When we arrived there was a 15-20 minute wait and the dining room was packed. We ended up waiting less than 10 minutes. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had four different servers checking on us throughout our dinner. I am not sure about the history of Green Dot Stables but they have a huge clientele. The decor appears to be original from the 60's at least. That does add to the charm. It is very dark and the dining room was incredibly loud. We ordered 5 sliders and two fries. The server left the menu in the event we wanted to order more. The fries came out first. A servers walked around the room with a huge tray of fries and delivered them to the surrounding tables. The fries and sliders are served in cardboard trays. The truffles fries didn't seem to have much flavor. The cajun were spicy. The sliders were ok. The faux chicken slider was bland. This place was so awesome! My sister-in-law who used to live in the area recommended it to me and this was only my second time in Detroit. We went at 7:00 p.m. on a Tuesday evening and there was a 45 minute wait. Wow! So we came back the next day for lunch instead. No wait that time but even so it was still busy around 2:00 p.m. on a Wednesday. We tried so many different sliders and spent about $50 for the two of us. But it was so worth it! Well, actually, my first order was cold so I sent them back for some fresh ones. The fresh ones came out quickly and were excellent. I ordered a fried fish slider and chicken slider. Both were just like I remembered, tasty. The restaurant was crowded, but we were seated as soon as we arrived and it didn't seem overcrowded. Therefore you can get a lot of options without breaking the bank! On the menu there are a lot of options but for all the sliders, they were all done well! When we got there at 4:30 p.m., there was a 45-minute wait and we were escorted to another waiting room that was about as large as the actual dining room. Once we were seated, the service was excellent and the food was incredible! Their model is to offer numerous different options of sliders to choose from. I ordered the Lansing Hot, Cuban, and Coney Island Sliders and LOVED them all! I could have eaten more, but didn't want to push it. I do believe that any slider option here would be great! My only complaint is the size of the dining room. It is small and cramped. I don't know why the owners don't convert the larger waiting room to another dining room and simply operate that way. Got in on the weekend around 3pm and it was packed! Had a 30 minute wait but was able to find a single seat at the bar. Had a beer and 3 sliders, philly cheesesteak, lansing slider and the korean slider. Of the 3 the lansing was by far my favorite. When friends showed up and my table was ready went to move come to find out that is a no-no. They have some weird rules but all is good. Things to know. 1. No food on the outside patio. 2. You cannot transfer your bar tab to the dining room. 3. Grey area, they do not like you cashing out at the bar and then going to the dining room with food. I've heard about this place for years and finally got around to trying it out for myself. The restaurant was quite packed when we arrive, but we ended up having no wait at all. Our server was able to get us to a table quickly and was ready to take our order. It's hard to remember all the sliders that we ordered. Our favorite was of course the classic cheeseburger, and I enjoyed some of the more interesting ones as well like the Korean and the Philly Cheesteak, though based on my partner's reaction, not every slider will suit every person who walks in. Oddly, our least favorite was the special of the night - A pork belly slider. It just did not do it for us. We might stay away from their special in the future. This restaurant specializes in sliders and fries. They have a huge menu of exotic sliders and they recommend getting three of them with a side to have a filling meal, which I agreed with. They also have what they call mystery meat. It is not much of a mystery as they tell you what it is. It is just a rotating slider, so don't be scared. The restaurant also has full bar service, if you are so inclined The restaurant as a moderate sized private lot and free street parking is also available. They have an indoor dining area and a covered patio area that can be enclosed with plastic blinds. Both spaces have bar seating available as well. They are also both decent sized spaces. However, you may end up sharing a picnic table with another party, socially distanced of course. The inside dining area is dimly lit As per the servers recommendation, I got three sliders. I went with Philly Cheesesteak, Teriyaki Chicken, and the Lansing Hot Chicken. and I got a side of cajun fries to wash it down. I made some good slider choices. They were pretty good. Packed with flavor. The fries were good too. I really enjoyed my meal. Be advised that if you go as a group, they will not split the check.
