My car was in need of an oil change. I checked reddit and there were several recommendations for Green Drop Garage. I made an appointment online. The cost was $141 including taxes and took about 1.5 hrs. The advisor told me that there was a nail in one of my tires and recommended that I need to change out all 4 tires because it was in a no repair area and I shouldn't just replace one tire. They quoted me close to $900 ($200 for labor). I went to get a second opinion at Discount Tire and within an hr, the service technician said the nail was in the area covered by the steel belts so they were able to patch it at no cost. I called to let Green Drop Garage know that I was able to patch the tire. Edit: I talked with corporate and they me know the inability to patch the tire was a liability issue based on DOT guidelines. The lack of explanation is a training issue. I'm glad for the responsiveness. read more

Called in today and was assisted by Caleb; he was super friendly and was able to take me in today to get a shield over my catalytic converter. Thefts have been increasing lately and Prius's have been heavily targeted along with my partner's Honda Element right in front of our house. So I'm really glad that Green Drop was able to take a look at my car to put me at ease. I called around 2, was able to get in at 3 & they were done by 4! There was also nice coffee shop nearby twentysix; where I was able to hang out and get some work done that I lost track of time, but luckily I was able to get back, thank goodness Caleb not only called but also texted my phone. Stuffs are nice ppl but I wanted only an oil change (last month I payed $75 for it at a fast drop in place. ) Here didn't ask the price when I was at the desk, my bad, but told them it's my first time here. They also didn't tell me that they have a fix packing and I will pay $141 !!!! For a simple oil change...because they just have one package for everything...not sure why ppl use this for oil change. i came here because of the good reviews for oil change...maybe ppl like spending unnecessary money on things...or just support the company which I bet is kinder than a fast place but not everyone (including me) unfortunately can afford this so pls inform your clients, specifically when they say it's their first time here how much it will cost! I needed some maintenance done on my 2018 Hyundai Ioniq. They listened to what I wanted, did it the way I wanted and charged me a fair rate. I appreciate a shop that communicates with it's customers and does what they say they will do. They also let me know what they didn't need to do on my car and my quote was reduced by $200. What else can you ask for? I have had a hard time finding a shop I can trust with my cars since my go- to mechanic retired but it looks like this is my new shop and I'm really pleased!!!! read more

Did a full car checkup too and made some suggestions for maintenance (with no pressure on me), I ended up having them do a couple of things because they needed to be done, and I have been super happy with the results and the customer service experience!!! read more

Ok, I do think that Green Drop's monthly oil change club is good value. I used it for a couple years while I was commuting a lot for work, and it did save me money on oil changes. However, I do not appreciate all the unnecessary suggested repairs to my Prius that have been recommended over the years. First of all, when I needed my MFD replaced in my Prius, Green Drop recommended another shop to me. Turns out, I liked this other shop a lot more (more genuine, more honest, and more kind), and I continued to go to the other shop for anything I needed outside of oil changes. This other shop told me I could always run by any potential repairs with them and they would give me a second opinion. At one point Green Drop recommended about five repairs for my Prius when I went in for an oil change. One of the five being "remove and replace the cylinder head gasket" which is a $2,055 repair! That's a pretty pricey repair, so of course I run it by the other shop. They tell me no, it's not needed and that they were "disturbed" that this repair was recommended to me. Literally their choice of word. DISTURBED. Fast forward to my next oil change, Green Drop recommends the $2,055 repair again. I tell them no thank you. Fast forward a third time, Green Drop recommends the $2,055 repair again. Again, I tell them no thank you. Fast forward again, I'm at Green Drop for another oil change and an employee at Green Drop told me he noticed the note/suggestion to replace the cylinder head gasket, he told me he didn't agree with that suggestion, and he removed it from my file!! Just like that. So.. even though $2,055 is quite a pricey repair, even Green Drop's own employees didn't agree on whether or not it was needed. $2,055 is a lot of money for a suggested repair when it clearly was not needed. That was also not the only time that happened. There were other repairs Green Drop suggested that the other auto shop disagreed with. So, 2 stars. I did like them for oil changes. But I did not like them for anything else. So perhaps get a second opinion on suggested repairs from Green Drop? read more

This business continuelly overcharges for auto services. I have been quoted crazy prices for auto repairs compared to other mechanics. They also recommend other uneccessay services to try to get more of your money. They said they did a 12 point inspection and everything looked good. I got home and noticed my rear tail light was out! Hands down my favorite shop in Portland! The car care membership is WELL worth it for $18/month (synthetic). They'll even replace your wipers and air filters at no extra cost. I never feel pressured to do 538236 extra services afterwards, and am in and out in an hour. They even give you a free coffee card for a shop down the street while you wait. Best part, no leaky oil the next day! During my last visit I was told I needed a new serpentine belt, which they could replace for $190. They told me I had about a month before needing to worry about it (it's been 2 months ), so I waited to save up and shop around. I got a few quotes from other shops that were significantly less ($133, $115), so I commented on one of their Facebook posts asking why such a huge difference. They responded by saying it might've been a misquote and to call to get another one. I did, and still got the same price. I asked about the price difference again and was told that while the price for the part was low, their labor costs are much higher than other shops. They were SO HONEST and said it's a basic enough replacement that I could go anywhere and it would be okay. The honesty in that phone call made me even more confident in the shop. I ended up booking an appointment elsewhere, but will still come to Green Drop first when it comes to basic repairs. Thank you for your amazing customer service!! read more

The men working at GDG are friendly, responsive, helpful and knowledgeable. They also will not shove extra work down your throat; they will suggest and recommend then give timelines of severity of need for each item they've suggested. I use the monthly subscription to ensure I can have 3 oil changes a year along with all basic car work done. They do have other larger locations if your vehicle needs extra/longer work done on it. This is an amazing value! Headlight replaced, wipers replaced, oil changed, air filter replaced, tires rotated and all that for $80 (the headlight replacement alone is $140 at the dealership). The folks are incredibly friendly and helpful, know exactly what they're doing, do great fast work, have better wifi than any of the cafes in the area, and have free coffee, beer, and kombucha. Green drop garage is fantastic. I was referred by a family friend and I'm so glad I listened! I did a pre-purchase inspection before buying a used car, and they quoted me accurately on the work that needed to be done, and I saved some $$ by signing up for their membership. They were communicative and responsive with me when there was a delay with the repairs, and they explain everything in great detail, helping me to understand even though I'm definitely not totally vehicle literate. I love that I won't have to worry about getting my oil changed on time, which has always been a drag in the past - now I can just drive down the street whenever I need one and it's taken care of, along with some other basic maintenance. Came in an hour before close on a Saturday. Caleb was quick to help us with an issue with our rear wiper. I'm a chicken when it comes to DIYing anything to do with my car and so figured I'd be better off with a professional opinion. I'm also a pessimist with access to google and assumed the worst and that I'd need $200+ car surgery. Caleb diagnosed the issue, explained what was wrong, grabbed a socket wrench, tightened a bolt and fixed it completely in about 2 minutes - and didn't charge us a thing.
