Of the list they only did half of it, and of the things they looked at, and I told them to fix it all, they only fixed one thing. Great place as far as I'm concerned. We've taken my wife's Beetle there 3-4 times and every time it's been a good experience, and every time they've saved us money. Timing belt change came in over $300 less than the dealership for a 2004 Toyota sienna minivan with 180,000 miles. They scheduled the service. They ordered the parts kit. Honestly, I've been dreading this review. I don't feel good about bashing somebody's livelihood. But I think I do the community a disservice when I fail to share my story. I went in and described my car's symptoms. I was told it's impossible for a car to do precisely what I said mine was doing. I wasn't called a liar, just told I was perceiving the symptoms incorrectly. I was given a diagnosis. It didn't strike me as plausible. I described the symptoms in more details, and shared more observations. Was told my cause/effect analysis was wrong, I was just seeing coincidental occurrences in my car that were of no diagnostic value. We talked at great length. I tried really hard to be polite and respectful. He did too; although he kept repeating that I was totally wrong, he didn't quite cross into the arrogant-jerk territory. Ultimately, I took my car elsewhere, where they drew a diagram of every component that could explain my symptoms, tested them all, came back with a diagnosis I felt comfortable with (was consistent with my observations). They performed the recommended repairs. They nailed it; car has been trouble free since then. Had I accepted the diagnosis at Broadway, I would have been in that very uncomfortable position where I have to say "hey, I just paid you several hundreds of dollars to fix my car, but it's behaving exactly as it did when I first came to you". Yeah, that's no fun. Obviously, I have no way of knowing how they would have dealt with that, but I'm glad I never had to find out. read more

I have been going here for a few years, they are chatty and friendly, BUT I had a very similar experience to another reviewer; I brought my vehicle in for repair and when I came to pick it up they asked if I'd noticed that the power steering pump was leaking (I hadn't). They said that there was a serious leak and it needed replacing. I declined to have it fixed, figuring I'd top it off when necessary and wait until it got worse or I had more cash. It's been many months (almost a year?) and the power steering fluid is still at the "Max" line. Edit: It's been 5 years and I've not repaired anything nor added a drop of power steering fluid. read more

Other than oil changes, I haven't had my car serviced since I purchased it 2 years ago. The dealership said the 45,000 mile on my Acura RDX was $475 so I decided to shop around. I really wanted a mechanic that specialized in Acuras/Hondas. I called several shops and overall was not terribly impressed. Derek at Broadway Imports was professional and answered all of my questions without saying daaaaaa even once. I felt really good about taking my car there. My service was $125 (not the dealer price if $475!!!!) Plus, I walked to Nicholas for lunch and lots of other walking options too. My car was done in 2 hours. They said my car was in good condition and told me I needed new tires asap. And my registration was coming up too. Like who in the heck would tell you these things. I thought it was awesome that they brought these 2 things to my attention. I was super happy and I found a new mechanic. I highly recommend Broadway Imports! I can't say enough good things about my recent car repair at Broadway Imports. I initially took my 2006 Acura TSX in because it was really acting up. Dan ran a computer test on the car and he said it was the throttle. He took my car for a test drive and, of course, it wouldn't duplicate the issue. So, he did not charge me for the service. About a month later, the car started acting up again. Not only did they give me a fair price for the throttle actuator replacement, they gave me a discount for cash. Went to Broadway Imports this week for the first - and last - time. We tried them as a potential alternative to the Honda dealer to bring our cars for service. Unfortunately, they failed, with red flags. The biggest red flag is that they recommended work which we just had done on the car a few months ago. We were told that the "transmission fluid needs to be replaced". It's funny, we just had it changed 6 months and 6000 miles ago. They also quoted $250 to change the transmission fluid - also funny, given that the Honda dealer changed it and charged only $58. Likewise, they also recommended that the brake fluid be changed. Again, this was done 6 months and 6000 miles ago. They seemed to do a fine job with the basic oil change, though they did charge $69 for it, whereas the last oil change 3 months ago only cost $34 at the Honda dealer. Unfortunately, from our experience this week, we think Broadway Imports does what so many service places do, and recommends unnecessary work, and then charges high prices for it. We won't be going back. read more

I don't trust them. Broadway Imports allegedly installed a new water pump in my car 3 years/17k mi ago. Today, my mechanic had to replace the water pump and said it was as old as the hills and was not 3 years old. He said Bway Imports just gooped some silcone on it to keep it from leaking (he showed it to me) and charged me over $100 for a new one plus labor. Oh, and the front cam seals they said I needed were improperly installed, leading to oils leaks and replacement. I know it's 3 years later but I had a feeling I was being taken at the time, as the water pump was about 3 years old when they 'replaced' it. I should have trusted my gut. All told I was hosed for at least $400 here and they did subpar work. Be careful if you must go here. Ask to see the old parts, ask to see the new parts or just go somewhere you trust --guts don't lie. read more

He's super easy to schedule with and normally is right in the shop to communicate with his customers directly. I trust him completely when he tells me something I wasn't expecting needs to be done and I feel his pricing is very fair/reasonable. Broadway Imports FAR exceeds my expectations of an honest auto service/repair provider. They were willing to talk with me on the phone and gave me the chance to check out possible causes of the issues with my Audi A6 before I brought it in. When I brought it in for service, they were quick to fix it, knowledgable about what to fix and . . . inexpensive. I decided to try this place after purchasing a used car which the previous owner stated needed the O2 sensor fix. He had a diagnostic tool. They stated it would be $384 and I said 'fine' as I needed it done for DEQ, and the check engine light was on. They called me and left a message and said it was done and the cost was, actually, $306. I was thinking, 'great, prompt and saves me some money'. On the phone and in person they stated that it needed brake work and oil leak work. I had told them that I would get back to them on that. They then said the charge was $352 or $354. Something like that. Just a few minutes ago, I was told $306. The guy tells me, "well, that was awhile ago, now it's this much." I said 'fine'. I was glad it was done and paid it. I went out to start the car, and the check engine light is still on. I go back in to tell the guy. He says, "oh, he must've forgot to reset it". He calls the guy out with his laptop, and they reset it. I go park it at a friends for a day as I have a rental. The day after I turn in my rental and go to drive the car and the check engine light comes on again. I call the place, and they tell me to bring it in. I bring it in and they do another diagnostic. The guy tells me there are 4 O2 sensors in the car and that if they did the one wrong that they'd redo it for free, and they'd check the car for free. Don't these guys check their work??? I thought I paid them to figure out which one was wrong and fix it. The guy tells me since they did one I have 3 more "tries" for them to find the right one. So, if they don't get it right the next time, I'll keep being out $350+ until they get it right? Plus, I have all the time in the world to take it back in for them to try to get it right and pay for another rental? I'm happy for those that got their cars fixed right, but this is for those of us who got hosed by this place. These guys are very dishonest and who knows if they even did the work?!?! I regret not having read the bad reviews on this place first. Check out their bad reviews. You'll be glad you did. So, I've been taken for a few hundred and now they want me to bring the car back. These guys run just the kind of garage that you are looking for...excellent service, super honest, easy to get into, and ready and willing to help with any issue that comes up. I have many examples of how they have served us and our 2 cars over the past 10 years...from replacing key parts, reminders to get oil changes, tracking maintenance, replacing windows, and even coming off site to jump my battery. They are always kind and courteous, even when I drop by with a mysterious dash light. (Turns out the gas cap on crooked registers in the dash.. who knew?!) One can really get taken for a ride in car repairs and these guys really can be trusted to keep you safe and to not give you the run around. (You know those garages that always find something else that needs fixing? Broadway imports is not that place.) They have deep integrity- which is so hard to find in auto repair. read more

Avoid this unscrupulous repair shop at all costs. My sister-in-law was in town for cancer treatments. I thought I'd do her a favor and have her VW Jetta's air conditioner fixed, and dropped it off at Broadway Imports. A day and a half later and $100 later, they still had not finished diagnosing the problem and wanted $300 more to continue. I picked up the car completely dissatisfied. I was refunded my $100 - a nice gesture. As I was leaving, the owner, Derek, informed me that the emergency brake light was on, and said it was that way when I dropped it off. This was pure baloney, but I was fed up and drove off only to find that not only was that light on, but the annoying alarm was beeping constantly. Of course, if it had been doing that when I dropped it off it would have been the first thing I'd have asked him to fix! Instead, my sister-in-law had to drive home (3 hours) listening to that constant beeping. When her mechanic checked it out he found that the alarm fuse had been blown using a short circuiting wire during the diagnosis of the A/C. It cost her $97 to fix. She took photos of the wire, the diagnostic and the bill from the mechanic. I took them to Derek. He said "we don't normally use a wire like that." (But they use a "different type" wire for the same purpose.) His mechanic was "out sick" so he couldn't ask him about it. I felt guilty and reimbursed my sister-in-law her $97. I told Derek I did this, and I left it up to him what he should do about causing the problem and lying to me. I have heard nothing. So, beware. read more

A lot of research went into choosing to take my 11 year old Lexus to Broadway Imports. I wanted a thorough check of belts, etc. as I was moving and about to embark on a 1000 mile trek. Both guys there were great, charming, and chatty. When I went in to pick up my car very little was said about replacing belts but there was an alarmist attitude about my power steering pump leaking. I was told to bring it back in the morning so the fluid level could be checked. It was that bad. They asked if I'd noticed the leak on the garage floor and said it'd been leaking while in their shop. It wasn't kept in a garage so I had no clue. Since I was in the midst of a big move I didn't have the time to bring it back. I drove the 1000 miles, got moved in and one day suddenly remembered the dire warning about the power steering leak. Been checking it for months now and it's absolutely fine. read more

They are always straightforward and clear about what they are going to fix, and find the most affordable options, and get the problems fixed quickly. I took my car in because it was behaving really sketchy and then wouldn't start at all. They told me it needed a new distributor and also a new clutch (both of which seem likely) but that they changed out the spark plugs and cleaned it up and tweaked a few things so it was running well and starting again, at least. But they couldn't guarantee how long it would be before I needed to address the distributor and the clutch. That was fine. I drove the car home. Hours later, I go to start the car and it's exactly the same as it was before. So. They charged me $97.20 for basically nothing. Maybe they were telling the truth, but it doesn't make me any happier or feel like they're terribly trustworthy (since they said it was starting fine and running much better now.) read more
