Very good lattes and bagels! Actually best simple bagels with butter I had on my whole trip! The 2 girls were very nice and personable! The place is small so they required one group inside at a time. But once you're inside, it's a cozy personable experience. You're not rushed at all, and you can see where your drink is being made and food is being toasted.

Wonderful customer service. A small wait outside while waiting. Fresh, tasty morning light eats and delicious iced coffee! Great spot to rest and refresh

Small business with a homie feel. Located right off the main road in between the 2 sea village signs. Nice to enjoy breakfast and take in the beauty of Kona town. Quick walk to seeing the ocean and the sunset. The iced mocha is good and the iced haupia latte is great!!! That was the best!!

I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS Go here. Wait even if there is a little line. You will not regret it. Local coffee done to PERFECTION. My iced coffee even had coffee ice cubes. The salmon cream cheese bagel knocked me off my feet. The staff were SO KIND AND FRIENDLY I loved them!!! Can't wait to come back here.

So happy I found this place for a quick light breakfast. Their smoothies are well balanced and delicious. My child got the French toast sticks with maple syrup on the side which were yummy. I got the turkey and Swiss panini and their oatmeal which both were scrumptious ! The hubs got the egg/bacon croissant which he loved. You can either eat there but they only have 2 benches or take it to go. Also, It is a small shack so 1 person at a time can be in there to order. During the weekend it was busy but weekday it was quick, and they close early. We will be back on our next visit!

Lattes weren't good and the staff was rude, I've had better experiences at other coffee shops nearby.

Can I give this place more than 5 stars? It deserves it!…read more We had shoyu, lemon avocado, and umami ahi; kalua pig; ube coconut and cucumber sides. Every bite we had just had us in heaven. Yes, everything we had was amazing, but our favorite bites were the umami ahi, kalua pork, and cucumber salad. Service was quick and good. A good amount of nice outdoor seating, and we found parking easily in the lot. Do not miss out, this Pa'akai Poke is a taste of heaven!

My wife and I stopped by Paakai Poke & Deli as our first stop from the airport. Between the two of…read moreus, we split a plate with three scoops of poke -- umami ahi, furikake sea salt, and spicy salmon, along with mac salad, coconut ube and white rice with furikake, eel sauce and soy sauce. This all came out to $31.30 after tax, which is almost the same price as their large plate at $35.00, with two fewer scoops of rice. Of the items we ordered, the ube coconut was by far my favorite. I am definitely coming back again for more of this. I've never had ube in this format before, but the mild sweetness of the potato came through, and I enjoyed the chunky mashed potato texture. The next item I liked from the plate was the mac salad. I can't remember the last time I've had mac salad with this much black pepper sprinkled throughout it. The black pepper brought an unexpected amount of heat. Additionally, I thought the noodle were cooked perfectly. In most mac salads that I've had, the macaroni has been cooked far too long, but that was not the case here. I also appreciate that the mac salad was not drowned with mayo, another flaw I commonly see with this dish. Although the poke here is fresh, and the pieces are nicely cut -- all uniform in size, I thought the poke was a bit too salty, and needed to be enjoyed with the rice. The rice itself was a bit on the mushy side. Overall, we had a pretty solid meal at Paakai Poke & Deli. If you're in this area, stop by for the coconut ube -- you won't regret it.

If heaven has a lunch counter overlooking the Pacific, I think I found it…read more The Coffee Shack isn't just about the view (and trust me, the view alone is worth the drive)--it's about everything that comes with it. Let's start with the sandwiches. The Hawaiian bread is absolutely incredible. Soft, slightly sweet, fresh, and honestly the best sandwich bread I've ever had. Every bite made me wonder why every sandwich in the world isn't served on Hawaiian bread. Then came the pizza. Authentic, artisan island flavor with a homemade crust that tasted like it had been infused with fresh rosemary and other garden herbs. The pineapple and ham tasted wonderfully fresh, making the classic Hawaiian pizza feel like it was invented right here. And then there's the balcony. You look out over the emerald-green Kona coffee slopes as they tumble down to the brilliant blue waters of Kealakekua Bay. The Pacific stretches to the horizon, sailboats drift across the bay, and on a clear day you can even spot the Captain Cook Monument across the water. It's the kind of view that makes you forget your phone...at least until you realize you need to take another picture. Come hungry. Stay awhile. Order dessert and another cup of Kona coffee. You'll leave wondering if you came for lunch or for one of the most beautiful dining views in Hawaii. Mahalo, Coffee Shack--you've spoiled me for every sandwich and pizza that follows.

Finals thought it would be a yogurt bowl, but it was only a spoonful of yogurt. The eggs Benedict's had great flavor, and the fish tasted sooo good with the hollandaise sauce . The omelet was very cheesy and we loved the cheese pull. While the cheesecake was good, the crust needs work. It's pretty hard and we couldn't break it up easily. Cookie was dry and not something we would get again. The bar was also pretty hard, but the flavors were nice.

As soon as we entered the bake shop, we were astonished to find a long line. However, the line moved pretty quickly. I got the veggie avocado cheese sandwich. My husband got the fried fish plate. We also got a few Malassadas. This was like a fried doughnut. We got the mango, guava and pineapple flavors. My favorite was the pineapple one. The bread itself was super soft, and the pineapple jelly was super tasty. The mango pastry was also good, however, it was a bit dry for my liking. My veggie sandwich was packed with a variety of vegetables. The bread itself was very soft. I did have to add a bit of hot sauce, salt, and pepper because the sandwich itself did not have any flavor. My husband's dish also lacked flavor so he had to add a lot of hot sauce, salt and pepper. All in all, we had a great experience. The buns are a must try. They have plenty of outdoor spacing for seating. They also have a ton of interesting items to purchase. Given the historical relevance, this spot is a must visit.

When we entered, loud rap music was playing, which felt a bit out of place for the atmosphere. To their credit, they quickly changed it to some reggae island-style music, which felt more fitting for the setting. We greeted the employee with a friendly "Good morning," but the response felt indifferent, and we got the impression that our presence was more of an inconvenience than appreciated. We weren't expecting anything extraordinary--just a warm greeting and basic customer service. Hawaii is known for its hospitality, so this experience was disappointing. On top of that, the sandwich was very basic for the price. At $18, we expected better quality and value. Based on both the service and the cost, we definitely wouldn't recommend this place and will likely choose another option next time.
