We appreciated that only one customer/group was allowed in to order at a time. That helped to not feel cramped and to ensure attentive service. The hostess was delightful, helpful, and friendly. We greatly appreciated all the service we received! The coffee was fantastic! We especially appreciated that the ice cubes were frozen coffee! That ensured that the iced coffee was not watered down from regular ice! We loved the bacon egg and cheese croissant sandwich. Decadent and delicious! The final day I added spinach and it was tasty! Prices were very reasonable for the high quality product! And the ambiance is chill and clean. We are at the picnic tables the first day and where we stayed the rest of the time. After passing on this place due to long waits in the sun on two separate attempts, decided to finally give this place a third and final chance. This is not a joke - I dropped my partner off to wait in line while I drove miles south to Clover and Mug where I ordered food and drinks. I returned to pick my partner up exactly 38 minutes after dropping her off and she was STILL waiting outside with two more people in front of her. There's no way in hell this place or the food is worth it. And the ambiance is absolute crap waiting outside in direct sun while each guest takes 15-30 minutes. Place should be investigated because there is no way they are turning a profit without some sort of sweetheart deal. On the bright side, Clover and Mug is 10/10 EVERY TIME and they even warned me the kitchen was "a little backed up" when I ordered my croffle and sandwich. So happy I found this place for a quick light breakfast. Their smoothies are well balanced and delicious. My child got the French toast sticks with maple syrup on the side which were yummy. I got the turkey and Swiss panini and their oatmeal which both were scrumptious ! The hubs got the egg/bacon croissant which he loved. You can either eat there but they only have 2 benches or take it to go. Also, It is a small shack so 1 person at a time can be in there to order. During the weekend it was busy but weekday it was quick, and they close early. We will be back on our next visit! read more

Adorable little coffee shop with some of the kindest souls out there. They made us feel genuinely welcome and seen in the short time we were there. The coffee itself was good, not the best I've had on the island, but a solid cup. Just note there's no indoor seating, and it gets boiling hot inside, even in the winter months. You'll want to take your coffee to go or enjoy it at the picnic tables in the parking lot. If I were in the area and craving a cup of joe, I'd definitely pop by. read more

We LOVE this little gem! We tend to swing by here after an early morning snorkel. The coffee drinks are very tasty and all of the sandos we have had are excellent. I love the breakfast bagel and tuna melt & my husband loves the Punalu'u Sweetbread French Toast and the Monte Cristo. I usually grab one of their fun Hawaiian-inspired stickers to add to my reusable water bottles. We have always enjoyed talking story with the front person and the cook. But I waited in line for ~30 minutes for an iced coffee -- realized how long I'd been waiting, and felt committed, so stayed. I hopped on Yelp and saw that this place was only a short walk from where I was staying, so I put on my walking shoes to go check it out. It's hard to miss since the unique exterior color will catch your eye before the actual sign and it's in a great location - again, I walked but there are a few parking spots available should you feel the need to drive. The barista was friendly and thoughtfully provided suggested since I informed her that I was visiting the area. I ended up ordering a latte and some French Toast (you can't go wrong with the latter, ever) and both were really good. I will say, be sure to pack a little patience because the person that took my order was also the person preparing my order and the order of others (I think the other young lady was on break or stepped away). They were so good, I tried them twice during my visit and although the second day, it wasn't as busy - I still had a short wait. Hidden gem on Ali'i north of historic Kailua town. A little tough to spot- sandwiched between condo complexes. Had an Americano and got a matcha latte to go, which my daughter said was very good. Green Flash Coffee was right around the corner from our Airbnb, so we walked over on our last day in Kona. Their shop is really small and only allows for one group at a time. There were about 5 groups ahead of us in line and it moved at a moderate pace. From the time we entered the queue to picking up our order, it had been nearly 35 minutes. HOWEVER, the French toast breakfast sandwich and gianduja mocha was my favorite breakfast of my whole trip. The sweet and savory combo of Punaluu sweet bread with the maple syrup and salty crisp bacon was perfect. The mocha was delightful, hazelnutty goodness. We try to not give bad reviews but a fair objective about the pros and cons. We own a few aribnb condo close to this coffeeshop and ofcourse we want to recommend this place to our guest so we are hoping this review can help their shop in some ways: Food: Excellent! Their pastries and breakfast sandwiches are made fresh and hot! Coffee and Smoothies: Great variety, The Matcha Latte and Guinduia Mocha and Banana Mocha booster is our favorite *Though this is the second time we have had our hot coffee served (cold)-meaning lukewarm. Hours and Location: Not enough pakring and only a few benches to sit. Limited hours 4.5 hrs open only. *We understand that this is a small mom and pop shop and not enough space but we always support this type of small business. Customer Service: Poor! -The man/barista (bald guy) who works and hands us the coffee has poor attitude and a bit rude and lacks customer service. He seem unhappy working there. If he is the owner he should re think of hiring someone else. If he is worker the owner should have a word with this guy. He served us and called my name and walked towards us to give the coffee, and then 2 minutes later he came back out saying and claiming he said a different name and took our coffee back (after we had already taken a sip). My husband and I heard, he called my name. But he insisted with rudeness and said that he called a different name and that we had claimed the wrong coffee. (This is Just one of the other rude incidents we have had with this guy). Overall: This is great hole in wall shop with coffee , smoothie and breakfast sandwiches. But they lack the spirit of Aloha! We are Pacific Islander so this is disappointing experience. 3 stars due to poor customers service, coffee served cold. If they improve this service and attitude. This coffee place was on our way down south to drive around the island. There's no assigned parking, the front is for residents but people park there anyway. The line was pretty long. Only one party can be inside. It's a mom and pop shop. Very small, no frills. No cellphone usage allowed in the store, not sure why? My husband ordered the earthquake and he was wired on coffee for the whole day. He loved it. I got the tiger chai latte virgin. No coffee but just chai and substitute Mac nut milk. It tasted delicious. But very pricey for what you get. We also order the egg, bacon bagel. They don't open Weekends, fyi. read more

Easily my favorite grab and go coffee spot in Kona town. It's not open on weekends which sucks and their hours during the week are limited but if you can catch it when they're open, it's definitely worth a visit. Delicious coffee, great smoothies and the croissant breakfast sandwiches will have you begging for more. We stopped in for a quick breakfast. The two man crew hit our breakfast out of the park. We grabbed breakfast sandwiches and of course coffee. Coffe was fresh and on point. I got a bagel sandwich. The only drawback was I wish it had been toasted on both sides and they offered some condiments. They did have mugs which were cool so I had to get one. I walked in (there was no line and this was my first time) and a customer inside started pointing at a sign on the door. I couldn't really understand what she was saying as she was fumbling on her words. I read the sign and it says "please line up against the wall". I read it to her, and I'm confused as there's no line. Then she points to another sign something like "one group at a time". So I step outside and wait. Again, this customer hasn't clearly said "you need to wait outside" so I did as I was asked right after reading the sign. As I'm reading the menu outside, I can hear the customer talking to the barista loud as day. Talking about how she was going to stick up for the shop, that she was asked to stand outside at one point and how she has grown up on the island and doesn't care for the tourists in a nasty tone. I walked into a store that looked empty from the outside?? Pretty standard. I did right as was asked of me even though I wasn't once addressed by the staff. At no point is it acceptable to badmouth customers or let customers disrespect other customers nor entertain conversations like that. If you don't want tourists here, write "LOCALS ONLY" on the door. I'm happy to take my tourist money elsewhere, I'm not going to be belittled while trying to get a cup of coffee. I'm a human being and deserve to be respected as much as the next person, but I guess these people don't understand "Aloha". read more
