Hands down the best quiche I've ever had. Usually I find them too gummy and dense, but this quiche was light and bouncy, almost the texture of a Korean steamed egg. We visited Kaya's every morning we were on the Big Island. The coffee was delicious, I got an oat milk latte with an add shot and 3 pumps of vanilla. Their vanilla is less sweet, it was so good! Also got a different quiche each day and all were delicious. We also tried the pumpkin chocolate granola bar, the blueberry scones and the smores brownies, again, ALL delicious!! I go out of my way to make it over to Kaya's' when I am in town for Costco or any other Kona trip. I'm from Hilo but used to live in Kona and this spot was a weekly jaunt for me back then. It's hands down the best selection of gluten free and vegan treats on island. The Lavendar cardamom mocha is divine. The kombucha they serve is the best on island with a rotating selection of flavors depending on what fruit is in season. Customer service was right on point this morning, the gal that helped us really displayed Aloha. She greeted us with a nice smile and very helpful, she may have been the owner by the looks of it, she was really nice. Greeted with Aloha ended with Mahalo. We ordered a s'more granola bar, avocado toast and the daily eggplant, onion and parm quiche and the taste was delicious. The crust was flakey and baked well. The location is easy to find, right off the road with their own parking. The restaurant is open with seating indoors and outdoors. The employees are very welcoming and nice. I don't know how they pull it together but this is the best gluten free cafe in the island. You can't even tell the difference, the toasted coconut brownies are so amazing. I went in a 3rd time during my trip and they got me a hot decaf latte instead of iced and quickly remade it. They're always busy so give them some time to get your drink in. This has become one of my top favorite cafe around Hawai'i! They have a variety of organic, gluten-free and dairy-free goodies for people with dietary restrictions, and not only that, but their food is actually pretty good. This is my second visit during my stay here, and there might just be a third time as well, haha! This place also seems to be quite popular amongst locals! It was popping during my last two visits. Like most cafes, ordering is done at the counter, and whenever your name is called, you pick up your goods. There's plenty of small tables around for small parties. It's quite cute how their tables are scattered. Today, my partner got 1) Quiche and 2) Mamaki Tea. For myself, I went for 3) Avocado toast, but on an everything bagel, 4) Matcha latte with almond milk, and we shared a 5) Lavender chocolate scone. I really like how they don't charge extra for milk substitutions as I think it's more inclusive of people with dietary restrictions. The lavender chocolate scone was light, but also rich. Although I don't feel like I got much lavender flavor, the chocolate wasn't too sweet, which is great. I had their mango dragon fruit scone yesterday and it was also light, but such a delicious scone, I just had to give a different scone flavor a try today. Their scones have more of a fluffy texture than a buttery one, which I liked a lot! As for their avocado toast, it looks plain, but it don't let that deceive you because it tasted amazing! I think they may have applied some butter to it before adding the creamy avocado on top, so it was pretty savory. The everything bagel adds a nice savory taste to it as well. As for their Matcha latte, it was pretty good! It definitely had more Matcha taste to it than milk, so I'm glad it didn't taste diluted. The matcha was a nice morning pick-me-up drink. We came here nearly every morning for coffee as our family was vacationing at Big Island. This was one of the few places open early for people like us adjusting from pacific time zone. Ordered the same thing everyday: 2 regular coffees black, 1 iced vanilla late, and 1 iced matcha latte with soy and shot of vanilla. I saw the barista grinding the matcha. It was really good. The family raved about the taste so I ended up going at almost every morning. It was easily accessible off the main hwy and quick in and out. Seemed like a good hangout spot for locals too. Inside, you can tell this building has been around for a while with collections of books, stickers and art work. Also feels very Bohemian and I like it. It's called Kaya's coffee but they serve more than coffee. They serve organic and healthy food. We got a sourdough sandwich with sprouts, avocado, tomato, and egg. It tasted healthy and good. We are back at Kaya's! He got two oat milk lattes here, extra hot, and they were absolutely divine!! We drink coffee a lot. We love the Kona coast coffee. And Kaya's delivers coffee very well! We stopped in after snorkeling, and after getting veggie burgers just up the road at rebels. Here, we had two desserts, a coconut macaroon, which was delicious and a brownie, also delicious. We found this spot on our drive around the island. Great little local place with solid offerings and a fun atmosphere. The barista was great, very friendly and offered to add additional coconut syrup if it wasn't enough. Iced mocha was spot on and the americano was great. We recently took a short trip to Big Island after having moved away nearly ten years ago. While many things have changed...some for the better, some otherwise...one thing that we were so happy to find still going strong is this lovely cafe. I'm not sure if there is a place on Hawai'i that better exemplifies the spirit of the islands than Kaya's. The kindness and community that every customer and worker brings to the shop is something truly rare these days. Beyond that, the food and drinks are excellent. They had (excellent) choices for everyone in our group who, unfortunately, are cursed with allergies. A personal favorite were all the gluten free choices. By far some of the best we've had...which was surprising considering we now live in California with it's options abound! Ingredients were all of the highest quality (which is owed to it's local farm partnerships). Prices were beyond reasonable for what you're getting. Do yourself a favor and check out Kaya's...you might end up like us and find every excuse to wander south of Kona to what is easily the Island's best cafe. read more

OMG! This place was a God send! So, my man and I both had weird food allergies. And this place was literally almost ALL vegan and gluten free! I came out here for my birthday and we managed to find a chocolate coconut gluten free vegan pie and BOY was it FIRE! It was $40 but worth it. We all enjoyed it back at the hotel and I so so blessed to have found this spot so that they can sing happy birthday to me. ALSO, they had some BOMB gluten free foccocia bread which I ordered with butter. It was about $4 and I literally got full off of them My man also grabbed some granola and cookies and tore them up! Get outside of Kona's touristy Main Street and hit this spot! It can be easily missed, a small place with a few indoor and outdoor tables, but there is parking available. This place is gluten-free heaven! I was on that side of the island long enough to try 4 different quiches, I recommend all of them. I also tried at least three different scones and brought some home. The pumpkin pie was out of this world! I found Kaya's on my first day visiting the Big Island, when I was looking for a quick breakfast before leaving Kona and heading to a retreat on the Hilo side. The food was yummy! The service was prompt and efficient. I think it took a little bit for them to warm up to me, I don't know if there's a lot of big Black guys hanging out in the area eating GF pastries and egg dishes Lol! Plus my good looks may have been a lot to take in And once they did, it was beautiful. Everyone was already super kind. After my eight day retreat, I came back to Kona for the week and stayed a little bit up the hill from Kaya's. I was so glad it was an option for my breakfast every morning. The coffee was also yummy, as was the chai. There were locals and tourists and everyone seemed so happy and easy even when there was a line. They also have some really fun items as well as locally made body care products + coffee and more that you can purchase for gifts. The restaurant is great for singles and small groups. The WiFi is excellent which I really needed one morning when the power was interrupted where I was staying. My friend who visits Kona a few times a year was excited to learn I found Kaya's. I hope to visit again next year if the wind is blowing me that way. read more

Service - when it comes to mochas and blended coffees, this isn't Burger King (or starbucks), "we make it our way, take it out leave it." Ambiance, pretty nice whole in the wall, but street parking along a very busy road. Perhaps on a non holiday weekend, the staff would come across friendly , their supplies would be in stock, and it would be a nice visit.
