Hale Cocoa was one of our favorite stops. It's actually the main location for Puna Chocolate Company, and you can really tell they care about what they do. The chocolate and coffee were both amazing, full of flavor and clearly made with a lot of love. What made it even better was how into it the staff were. They walked us through how the cacao is grown and made into chocolate right there on the farm. You don't just taste it, you understand it, which makes it all the more enjoyable. The sipping chocolate is a must. It's rich, creamy, and just hits the spot. I'd honestly go back just for that. If you're in the Kona area, definitely check this place out. It's more than just chocolate, it's a full experience.

I was surprised that this small chocolate cost $5.75. I thought this was a tester cup.

On a recent long weekend adventure, we drove south of Kona to check out the coffee and cacao farms.

As coffee lovers, Heavenly Hawaiian constantly came up in my research and I'm glad we toured for ourselves. The grounds itself are absolutely gorgeous and that view from the hill onto the ocean is unreal! I can't for the life of me remember our tour guides name but she was such a joy and extremely knowledgeable. Learning about the different coffee variants that are grown such as Kona typica, Progeny 502, and the "boujee girl" Geisha was awesome to learn about and see for ourselves. Did I mention endless coffee sampling? Such a relaxing atmosphere to sip all the coffee you want and enjoy that view. And the cutest cats on the property were such a delight mingling with the guests. All staff members were so helpful and they even treated us with a goodie bag of freshly picked fruits from the farm and a bag of peaberry bites (my new favorite) all as a thank you for paying a visit on our honeymoon! Was not expecting that all but such a sweet gesture! I would highly recommend Heavenly Hawaiian farms to anyone if you're on the Big Island or in the Kona area. Absolutely worth the trip up the hill and to feel the aloha from the staff and grounds.

You could tell they run a tight farm by hiring the right people and keeping the property and all the equipment well-maintained. I must admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Kona coffee from what I tried at Heavenly and at other local spots, but for what it is, Heavenly makes a good product. I wish they would have let me take a to-go cup of coffee after the tour, especially after paying for two tickets + $70 of bagged coffee, but they unfortunately limited me to the little sample cups with no lids. That's the only thing keeping this from being a 5-star review.

No big deal! They do have smoothies, so we decided to try those out with a slice of cheesecake. I mean, because cheesecake. The employee here was super helpful and nice. Honestly, this location looks extremely popular for a late breakfast, and it makes sense to me: the menu was full of some yummy offerings. You felt like you were sitting in a very personal, old time diner where everyone would know each other. It was honestly very authentic, and I loved how we felt like we were at a friend's house. The smoothies were really good! Bright, vibrant flavors and very much needed after a busy morning. The cheesecake, well, it lasted about 2.5 seconds. Seriously sooo good and a nice little treat! I believe they make the cheesecake and other baked goods in-house, so that's a bonus. This wasn't what we were hunting for, but we were happy to stumble upon this cozy diner!
