There are so many choices for restaurants in this area, so the Yelp reviews were what brought us here. The restaurant was small and inviting. We were greeted by the owner and the restaurant was relatively full (always a good sign). We did struggle in communicating our order to the waitress (She spoke English but not well.), but eventually got there by pointing to the items on the menu. We ordered the fresh grouper (Best selection of the night!), steak fajitas and shrimp fajitas (both were very good) and the onion soup (Came out cold, was reheated, and again, returned to the table as just lukewarm). Overall, the food was good, but the biggest complaint my group had, was the amount of time it took to get served. Once seated, it took 15 minutes to take our drink order, another 20 to take our dinner order (which they brought one dish at a time) and an hour for our meal to arrive. Then, another 15 minutes to get the check and another 15 minutes to charge our credit cards. While I totally understand that we are on vacation/island time, the wait and service was ridiculous. We won't be back because who wants to spend 3 hours for dinner? It's a shame because the food was really good. read more

The restaurant is much nicer inside than from the outside appearance. The presentation of the food was exquisite. First the staff brought out some fresh rolls, which were so fresh and tasty. We then had the fried corn sticks for an appetizer. I had the Mahi Mahi, with mashed plantain. The fish was extremely fishy tasting and the whole dish was "just ok." My wife had a breaded chicken dish that was very tasty. She chose the rice and beans as a side that was very god. The beans were served cold, but I believe that was the way they were intended to be served. The items were probably a little over priced, but not terribly so. While we ate, the restaurant was playing a spanish singing concert really loud....this detracted from the overall appeal of the restaurant for us also. read more

On the first night of our Honeymoon in Puerto Rico we were starving after having explored the city of Dorado, PR All Day Long (((you have to rent a car to really see the isalnd!!!)) & decided to stop into the Greenhouse Cafe (about 5-8 minutes from the Hyatt Hacienda del Mar where were staying). We were looking for somewhere nice, not super-fancy, that had authentic Puerto Rican rice & beans, and we certainly didn't leave disappointed! We sat outside on their well-kept patio to enjoy the warm night air & hear the famous Coqui frog sounds. I ordered steak with a side of rice & beans & my husband had pork chops with the same side. He's been raised on Puerto Rican cuisine & we both have enjoyed his father's recipes for years. The Greenhouse Cafe serves it up right! My only complaint was that my husband's salad came out and was finished before I even received mine. The server (who spoke great English) quickly corrected the misunderstanding of how the meal was to be served and was sure to kept my cocktails coming! The portions were HUGE! just the way we like it! Best meal I've had during my visit in P.R. We ordered the Churrasco, fried chicken wings, the Ceviche de Mero (as a meal) and the Shrimp Mofongo. We enjoyed every single bite. The stake was cooked to perfection, the mofongo was not dry and very tasty. The ceviche was very fresh and delicious! My daughter claimed the wings were the best she's had! We arrived at 7:20 pm. It is now 8:30 and we haven't been served our meals. I wish I could comment on the food. It looks amazing and smells great. Great hospitality. the server was so fun!! I had my first mojito with her great suggestion of passion fruit flavor and it was fabulous :) Food arrived hot and fresh plus quickly. Great food and local atmosphere in Dorado Beach, PR.

We come here for the yuca mofongo filled with shrimp with creole sauce. It's very tasty and filling. The Caesar salad is a great starter for 2 to share and they also have great piña coladas that are creamy and refreshing. The staff is very nice and the food tastes great. The down side is that it takes a bit to get your food from the kitchen and there is a gym above it. Sometimes there may be a random thud from above, but it is typically rare. If your not in a rush, this is a great place to enjoy some really tasty piña coladas and food. read more

Not that impressed. Tried it twice hoping for better results the second time. It's just OK at best. Fajita meat was fatty and of low quality. Got a much better chicken at the grocery store for $5.00. Fish is just OK. It is simply overpriced for what you get quality -wise. I'd rate this a 2.5 of five. Better than some, but by no means a must. Staff is friendly. Ambiance is loud generally. Both times we actually asked them to turn the noise down. I just do not like to have dinner with anything blasting in my ears. Limited beer selection. We just came from having a great meal. My husband had the churazco, I had the chuleta can can and each of my kids the chicken breast and everyone was pleased. Out of all the restaurants in the dorado area, this was my favorite. The presentation of the good was great and the service was warm and kind. Most of all the food was delicious. For appetizer we had coconut shrimp and for an appetizer the flank steak fajitas and the grilled chicken dish. All were very good. Pitcher of sangria packed a little punch too. This restaurant was recommended by the Ritz Carlton staff and definitely not a disappointment! The food was exceptional to include the appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Try the ribs! I live in Texas and thought that no one could beat Texas' ribs, but this place could retire on their ribs alone. For my first time visiting Puerto Rico, I was a bit skeptical about the food. Originally for dinner we didn't know what to get but our taxi driver recommended this place. I have to say, from the outside this place may not seem like much but the family that owns this cafe has done a great job on the inside. You get a cozy vibe immediately as you walk in. The food is what completes it all. The mofongo was made to perfection topped with well cooked steak. The grouper was soft and melted in your mouth, and the creole sauce had just the right amount of everything. Overall the food and the people were amazing and I recommend it to everyone. read more

My family and I ate here twice recently and I have to say that the first time was definitely better than the second. We were pleased with the service and really enjoyed the food upon first discovering this place on a quiet weeknight. Two days later, on a Friday we stopped in but the place (which is small) was full so we opted to not wait. When we stopped in again on Sunday night we got a table right away but service was slow, really slow, and I wasn't pleased when another couple that arrived later got their meals first. Wow...this was not what I expected. We had reservations for 5 adults plus two kids at 6:45pm on a Friday night. Our appetizers came right away but our food didn't come out for over an hour, and no one came to check on us in that time. Finally the food started to come out but it was haphazard and some of us got food while others were waiting. Eventually everyone but my husband had gotten their food so we finally said "forget his food just give us the check." Of course all of a sudden they said they had it. My husband wolfed it down so we could get out since the rest of us were done. They did apologize at that point and said something had happened in the kitchen, but a little explanation while we were waiting for so long would have gone a long way.
