After we visited the arboretum, we made our way back downtown and finally got to give Green Man a try after having been to Asheville multiple times now. It was a relatively slow evening, although expected on a Monday. Opted for a flight to give a few beers a try. Ended up liking the howler and wildflower the most, both surprisingly tasty for beers with hints of banana! Also grabbed a cider as well to give a go and was very pleasantly surprised with it. Not overly sweet or bitter, just a solid in-between option. Honestly can't wait to get back here and give some more of the menu a try! read more

If I could do 3.5 I would! The service was great- and the bartender who gave us our drinks was super friendly. The vibe just really wasn't for me. They played heavy rock metal which is cool for a bit but over and over is just not my style. I do like how there were multiple levels so you could see a little view of Asheville. Relaxed atmosphere with friendly service. I asked for their margarita, but they were out of tequila. I asked for their canned rosé and they were out of that. Ended up with a pour from a bottle of rosé. My friend wanted a Mexican logar, but they only had about 1/2 a glass and the guy had to go replace the tapp. Seems like they weren't very prepared for ST. Completely average brewery surrounded by much more impressive breweries on every corner. The cold IPA was probably the best or the 8 beers our group tried, but the other 7 were pretty lackluster and unmemorable I can't even remember what else we tried there. A fan favorite for me. And for all the right reasons. For starters their beer selection is appeasing for just about any taste bud. They are a soccer shop which means I can always count on them to have some sort of soccer game on their TVs. Being able to watch the bottle production in real time while having my own brew is a top tier experience. So after you shop for some swag downstairs, make your way upstairs and take a seat for the best view in the house. It's worth noting this is a kid friendly brewery who offers a ton of games upstairs. Even an area for the kiddos to dig in the sand for fossils. A very low key brewery pumping out some delicious brew with great outdoor views of Asheville. read more

Stopped in for a quick drink on a sunny day walking around the South Slope area of downtown Asheville. Excellent brewery with a large downstairs and outdoor upstairs area. Upstairs is covered with nice views of downtown and a little peek of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The beer I had was fresh, tasty and enjoyable. Service was on par with a normal bar/brewery. This was a brewery that was a stop on one of our tours. The place had a really great vibe, I'm sure that the staff was a little overwhelmed when a busload of people come out to grab a beer and get back on the bus in 10 minutes. The atmosphere here is pretty cool. Love the top floor. It has a great outdoor patio area along with plenty of indoor seating overlooking the brewery. There is street parking, but it is hard to come by. On the next block, you'll find a paid lot. It's an easier option. They have a good number of beers, but I wasn't blown away by any in particular. I had a flight, so I was able to try a few different options, so it's a pro for me when a brewery has flight options. I'd go back just because of the atmosphere. Attended a wedding reception here over the weekend on the 3rd floor. The place was hopping! When I approached the bar I was greeted quickly and with a smile. I ordered the pilsner which was the lightest beer they had. Even though it was a light beer it still had a bit of happiness to it. This place is a great location to grab a beer and chill for a bit. They have such a large space with seating downstairs, outside, and a whole additional level. Beers offer great variety as well and I love that they have their own root beer. We were hopping around to different breweries so we opted for only one beer, while we were there, while of the bus tours did let out and it did get very busy downstairs and crowded. Next time we would definitely go up to the next level to avoid some of the crowd. read more

Had a late dinner here and was pleasantly surprised. The brewery/facilities occupy multiple buildings, and we initially weren't sure where to go to order food, but once we got that figured out, we placed our orders. The upstairs portion was roomy and had live music finishing up as we walked in. As far as food goes, I got the smash burger, which was excellent, as were the fries. The grilled cheese also got a positive review from our group. Would've liked to see a BBQ sauce option, but their Comeback sauce was pretty good (though, to be clear, the two aren't remotely similar.) As good as the food was, it was a bit pricey. Delved into Green Man Brewery earlier this year( yes, I know we aren't far into 2023 but it was earlier in the year, lol) and enjoyed my beer experience with the two beers I had from them. I had an ESB, an extra bitter beer which was good. I don't come across these real often and if I do I usually get overrode with a beer choice that grabs my attention more so it was pleasant delving into Green Man's version of the ESB with it's sweet and malty notes it comes off as well balanced and lives up to it's name for this English Amber Ale. The next one was a beer style I always like and that was Green Man's American Light Lager. A very light lager that can be drank all day long with a very low ABV. This very tasty lager has cracker, herbal and a grain flavor which makes this type of beer so flavorful and enticing. Always love craft brewery versions of American Light beers because they always taste so much better than the corporate beer they are inspired by. read more

A last minute stop on our trip to Asheville! A former colleague recommended Green Man as her favorite brewery, so we made a quick stop on a Saturday afternoon during our visit. The space has a good vibe - more sports bar-like as compared to other breweries, but lots of open space and modern vibes as well. Once we arrived, we were a touch confused on how to order. There were 2 bars, but apparently one was for cans only and one was for drafts only - although this was not clear at all, nor was it clear which beers were available on draft vs cans. No big deal, we ultimately figured it out and chose our beers! Their was a private party on the rooftop (a great spot for a party!), so we unfortunately didn't get to make it up, but no big deal. The space is massive, so we still had our choice of sitting outside or on the ground floor. We snagged a table outside and enjoyed our beers alongside their wonderful music selection (my husband spot very highly of it). I can't remember which specific beers we opted for, but we enjoyed them well enough, although not enough to explore purchasing any to go. Overall, Green Man was a nice, convenient stop on our Asheville trip. I would recommend for anyone traveling with a group or anyone looking for a great music selection and a solid beer! read more

Woohoo! My day began at the Biltmore Forest Country Club. Green Man's owner is a member. That's kind of cool, but what's better is that he created a beer for the club called 1922. I visited for a beverage while I was waiting for another place nearby to open for the day. I didn't know what to expect, but Green Man's proximity to my ultimate destination led me to at least give their beer menu a look. They had a fruity sour on the list, so I decided to get a glass while I waited. They were doing well with the use of outdoor seating space. There was a lot of spread out tables, with pop-up tent coverings. Thank you for the shade! The beer was good enough for me to grab a 4-pack on my way out to bring home with me. Talk about hype - this place has it. However, we have just felt a general 'lack' each time we have visited (3 x in 3 years). Green Man is a BEAUTIFUL facility with AMAZING merch and an AWESOME space/concept. However, the beer suuuuuuucks. We keep coming back hoping we were just wrong the last time, and we need to stop trying to make the beer match the atmosphere. We visited mid-August deep in the swing of Covid on our way to our family beach house. The plus from this trip: Green Man was good about keeping distance (no indoor seating, spacing the LONG line, kicking out out as soon as you got a beer, lots of tables outside, etc.). There was a strict "No samples, no flights, no tabs" rule posted everywhere and enforced by the stoic staff (not engaging at all) - so we all picked something different and passed 6 beers around the table (we are one pandemic pod, so it was safe). They. All. SUCKED. In my defense, I attempted to ask my beertender what they would recommend and they basically told me to just pick one. Super meh. Another plus - they had a taco truck outside and this ended up being the highlight of our trip. Save yourself the trouble - go look at the gorgeous brewing deck, get the pretty merch if you choose, and skip the beers. read more

I stopped by here this past Tuesday with my wife for some afternoon drinks. Due to COVID-19, there wasn't any indoor seating and the amount of time you spent indoors was limited to a purchase your beer and get out variety. They had "no samples, no flights, no tabs" prominently Displayed in a number of places. Due to that, instead of my usual fight, I went with a 16 oz Wayfarer IPA. Since I was the only person in line, I had my beer quickly and was headed outside for seating. They had a ton of it on Buxton Ave with most of it being chairs around some spools with tents covering them. After my wife and I found some seating I was able to try the beer. It was a smooth IPA with lots of hop flavor and some good notes of citrus on the finish. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My beer was a solid IPA and I would be interested in trying more of the Green Man Brewery's offerings. read more

This was hands down our favorite brewery when visiting Asheville! The space is really big, with lots of space to find a seat and enjoy your beer. We opted to sit on their little outdoor seating area right outside but then went all the way up to explore. The views are awesome so make sure you do too. I ordered their tart berry sour (berliner weisse) and it was exactly as described--light, fruity and refreshing! When we went to redeem our free sticker (make sure to check in to receive one too!) the staff was super friendly and even gave us recommendations for other things to do in town. read more
