I don't often write reviews, especially not for gun stores. However, I was shopping for my first rifle and handgun lately, and from all the stores I went (there were probably 9) I noticed that most of the gun sellers are either rude, arrogant, or total dbags. Green Mountain Guns was the most pleasant experience. I recently bought a Ruger American Rifle from these guys. They were the only ones in Denver area that carry this rifle in multiple caliber options, and the only place I could find the rifle in 30-06 caliber. Their price was $349 + taxes, which was lower then Bass Pro's $399 + taxes, Gander Mt.'s $429 + taxes, and even the Buckley AFB PX's $352 (Of course that at the PX there are no taxes). Called them first and they were very nice over the phone, as they turned to be in person. Filled up the paper work for backround check ( Notice: I didn't have to pay in advanced) and after 7 days (the time it takes these days for a check) I got a call back that I can come an pick up the rifle. Went to Green Mt. Guns, got my rifle, brand new in the box, paid $372 (taxes included), and after 10 min I was out of there. It was a very easy shopping experience. They also have a nice inventory in their store including a decent number of used guns. Some of the prices are negotiable. read more

I pop in here from time to time, mostly to see what they have on consignment. The staff is generally helpful and their selection is decent.

Great place, have purchased several firearms from them. Never have been sold a lemon and always have gotten good customer service. The only reason this is a 4 instead of a 5 is that they could use more variety and options in their ammo department. I think it's sorta ridiculous that they do not sell shotgun slugs, yet have so much antiquated ammo. Overall a great store with some great customer service. read more

Everyone was very helpful and nice. Great shop with lots of options. I am becoming a new gun owner and still felt very welcomed. I also let the employees know that I could not legally walk out with a handgun when I went since I hadn't gotten my CO drivers license yet, but they answered my questions in full and didn't seem to mind that I could not yet make a purchase. I have been shopping in their store for more than 30 years. I have bought MANY, MANY firearms from them. They can get pretty busy sometimes so you may have to wait a bit to get some help. A few of the salesmen(through the years) have been a little short, but not unreasonable. Mostly they are just great folks to work with. Their prices are generally as good as you can find. Whenever asked for a place to buy guns, GMG is always my first response. I would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

I have been a gunnie for about 15 years, and purchased firearms all over this state. I have yet to encounter a more friendly, knowledgeable group of guys than these. Today I purchased a Bersa Thunder .380 for about $175, which beats even gunbroker.com. The environment is cozy, and if you're a firearm enthusiast this is the culture for you. Their prices are amazing, and beat Cabelas by nearly $100 in most cases (my Glock 42 at Cabelas was nearly $100 more than their brand new G42s). It did not seem at all redneck, which is good for those who aren't super familiar with the gun culture. The staff were respectful, classy, and knew their stuff. If you need/want a new gun, I very highly recommend GMG. read more

I have done well over half my gun buying and selling through Green Mountain Guns over the last six years. I have found them to be knowledgeable, courteous, and reasonably priced with only rare exception. (Nobody is perfect.) To this day, I will drive across town to do business with them or just to look around in case they might have something I didn't know I needed. A word of advice -- used (consignment) firearms require knowledge of pricing and what to look for on the buyer's part. The consignor sets the price not the dealer. The consignor certifies only that the gun is safe to fire -- not that it is poor, good, or perfect condition. If you are new to guns, you might want to stick to new ones, or used dealer inventory.. I have had some good recommendations by the staff on good buys on excellent firearms. read more

I have been visiting Green Mountain for a little over 8 years now. When I first started visiting it was for supplies (ammo, accessories and reloading), but have since developed a great relationship with almost every member of their sales staff. Because of this I exclusively purchase all my firearms from them. The staff is always friendly and makes an effort to greet me and my wife (even remembering her name). They have a great selection of new firearms and an even better selection of consignment guns. The real reason to come to them is their fair pricing. They are consistently low on their pricing across all types of firearms and ammo. And they did not play any games (hiking up pricing) during the recent events. read more

I have purchased two firearms from Green Mountain Guns - both transactions were great. I purchased my first gun (used) and the team answered all of my many questions. I was allowed to hold and inspect any gun I wanted to - even the component parts you would normally see while cleaning the weapon. I ended up with a fantastic deal on a Sig Sauer P220. I purchased the second weapon (new) via special order as thru did not have it in stock. Took less than a week to come in and GMG beat the next lowest price I found at other stores by $40. Both firearms work perfectly and the customer service has been solid. If one staff member doesn't know the answer they find one that does. You can find a large assortment of used and new shotguns, rifles, assault rifles, semiautomatic and revolver handguns (particularly given the smaller size of the store). You can also find cleaning equipment, holsters, accessories, storage and hand loading supplies. I recommend you check this local store out - you shouldn't be disappointed. The only gripe would be the earlier retail closing hours they keep - tough for someone that works 60 hours per week. read more

Went in there once and asked in they had a certain CZ pistol. I told them I was ready to buy right now if they did (assuming it was roughly MSRP and not marked up to crazy prices). They said no, but to check back. I asked when I should come back to check and they didn't know. When I asked if I could give them my phone number and they could call me the staff member said "What am I supposed to do? Call every single guy who wants to buy a gun every time we get a shipment?" Well... yes. Yes you are. I said I was ready to give him $600 the minute the gun came in. He acted like he didn't care if I bought the gun or not. And to be honest he probably didn't because he knew he could sell the gun to somebody else. But that's still not customer service and I was still disappointed. Ok, update, brace yourself for the stellar customer service. Went back by Green Mountain Guns with co-workers that actually wanted to buy a gun. Having had a negative experience with Mike previously really didn't preclude me from not shopping at this store. Plenty of other guys that could show me a gun and give me a price, close to work and pretty good selection!!! (note - the previous rifle in question was still on the shelf and I had no desire to even reopen that can of worms, C'est la vie). When Mike saw me he verbally attacked me and said "how dare I write a bad review about him" and he wouldn't sell me that rifle for half price, I responded that was fine since I wouldn't buy it from him!! Then he proceeded to call me an "ass**le" and told me to "get out of the store"!! REALLY????? He also mentioned none of my co-workers were welcome either and they couldn't buy any gun at GMG because they associated with me. (duh, they wanted to buy a guy today!!) Another nice guy near the front door (big burley guy) said "he'd be happy to sell a gun" to my co-worker and said he "over-rode" Mike's decision to not help them?? Not really sure of the pecking order at this store but refusing to sell a gun at a gun store seems odd at best and Mike must be in charge in some way since he is kicking customers out! Mike has a choice of who he wants to work with and I certainly have a choice of who I'd like to help me (not him). This whole situation could have been avoided and reviews are easy to delete if good customer service was provided instead of escalating to an even uglier example of poor service in front of other customers!!! I'd love to talk to the owner and see if they truly believe just because I was not happy with one guys service that it's normal policy to berate a good customer that's bought numerous items and brought many other customers to their store??? Customers shop where they are respected and not abused or belittled!!!!! This whole situation was beyond weird at best. read more

Purchased 3 guns here. Great place nice employees. Good prices and sales. Good amount of fire arms to choose from.

I went in there to buy a gun, and bought a used gun on consignment. I was super happy with it until the next day I did some research to get some of the parts for the gun. I had paid $25 MORE than if I had bought it brand new. I called them that day, and explained the situation. All I was told was that they could do nothing, sorry. Upon inspecting the gun further I found that it is not fully functional, and it is filthy. So all of this, plus I paid MORE than I would have if I had bought it brand new. Do some research before you head in and don't get swindled like me. read more

Up until yesterday I would have given them a hundred percent satisfaction because I've never had a problem before. I bought an approximately $500 Sig and a $50 holster to be worn on the outside of my pants. This spring that holds it on your belt kind of lost it tension fell off my belt at the range very embarrassing and very dangerous. I bought the combo less than a year ago it comes with a one-year guarantee. They said they would take it back if I had my receipt I told him I wasn't expecting it to break s.quickly I don't have my receipt. The uninformed salesman me told me it was an inside belt holster and it was my fault it is definitely an outside the belt holster that's why I bought it. I showed him the inside belt holster I was wearing it was half the size of the one I bought from them for the outside of the belt. If the FBI walked in and said who did you sell this gun to they could give him the information in 2 to 3 minutes but when I ask them to look up the sale for me he refused to do it for me. I spoke to the store manager today because I couldn't get the lady who owns the store on the phone today I spoke to the so called manager and he gave me the same BS story. I've been shopping with them for about 20 years. Since it's under warranty anyway all they had to do was send it back to the manufacturer for me and get me a new clip but they won't even do that for me. It bothers me that I won't go in there anymore. I remember when customer service meant something to a family operated business but not them. How stupid... read more

Great service! As a female customer, I really appreciate the low key but exceptionally helpful staff. The employees are very knowledgeable and went out of their way to fully answer my questions. My hands are smaller than a man's and I don't have sufficient hand strength to comfortably manage some guns. The staff worked with me - without ever talking down to me - to find a firearm that suits my needs perfectly. I highly recommend this company in general and especially for women who are looking for a store where they can feel comfortable that they'll be treated with respect and consideration. read more

there staff sucks... my buddy and I went in there to buy a gun and the first gun we looked at my buddy racked the slide, he just pushed the slide button and it slamed closed..and the bald staff member said HEY DONT DO THAT..NO HOLLYWOOD S##T IN HERE. after that we just left. what an a##hole.. he WAS going to buy that gun. but there customer service was so BAD so we went to bass pro and bought the same gun for 50 dollars cheaper..and bass pro customer service was much nicer and helpfull read more

Man have these guys gone down hill. I have been with Green Mtn. Guns for at-least 20 years, and they have ruined that. I have given them good reviews in the past and even defended them when the snot nose kids of Machine Guns Tours where sh!t talking them. Well no more! Last week I had sent Green mtn my third firearm transfer to them this year, when their guy Mirv botched everything and made a complete ass out of himself. Apparently the company I bought my fire arm through just gets those pistols direct shipped from the distributor to the FFL. I contacted GMG and had no problems talking to the staff as I gave them my info and a heads up on the UPS delivery. Well the package was dropped off and I had notification, I contacted GMG and they could not find it. I have seen this before with them and figured it would get found soon enough. I contacted them a couple of more times before I left work and the employees were helpful and apologetic at first, even though they couldn't find the gun. Finally, as I left work to find out what was going on, I contacted Mirv and he was nasty and insulting on the phone as he swore up and down the gun was not there. He constantly talked over me as I tried to tel him the shipment came from a different state then who I bought it from, and may be miss-marked. Well good old Mirv blew up and hung up on me. A few minutes later he called back and said he lied to me and the package was there, and it had come miss-marked from his distributor and acted like it was all my fault. He screamed and yelled at me that he had closed the shop early and sent everyone home. I told him if he would have listed to me we could have avoided this whole problem. He blew up even more and told me "he would send my sh!t back!" if I didn't listen to him and his rant. I bid my time and went to rescue my gun as soon as they opened the next day. And that's when things got better. The guy running the counter acted like a dick the whole time and told me, as a paid, my business was not welcome there. I told them they lost a 20+ year awesome customer and I would be talking to their owner and requested her contact info, which they promptly refused acting like a bunch of in-trouble children as they hummed and hawed she was on vacation, and they didn't know when she would be back. So don't send these clowns your transfers or buy their merchandise. Mirv is a disgrace to what GMG used to be I am seriously discussed by how low this shop has sunk read more

I've been going in here a couple times a month for a couple of years. These guys have great prices on new firearms and accessories. They compete and probably beat most shops around Denver. They are helpful on the items that they know a lot about and if they don't know, they'll find someone who does. As far as the person that feels they were ripped off on a consignment firearm, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!? Consignment firearms are used firearms that they are displaying for someone else, they collect a percentage of the sale price for the use of their shop. They do not set the prices and they do not inspect the firearm, that is the responsibility of the seller AND the buyer. I suggest you do your homework before you go into a shop to purchase a firearm. Consignment firearms are also usually negotiable prices, you can make an offer and they'll call the seller and see if that's acceptable to them. I guess I don't understand how a they deserve a one star rating when you are the one at fault. read more

I have been going to Green Mountain Guns for years, mostly for their consignment items. But, good luck trying to get help if you are Hispanic. I am tired of waiting in line to get help as their staff will wait until they have helped everyone else in the place be for me. I have seen this multiple time to other Hispanics that were waiting in line for help and got passed by. Today was the last straw. I came in to pick up money owed after I had sold a firearm that was on consignment. While waiting in line two staff members went out of their way to make me know I was unwelcomed. The first looked right passed me to help a lady behind me who had just walked in. As I approached the counter after the second staff member had just finished helping the gentleman in front of me, he did not even acknowledge me, he instead turned his head 180 degrees down each side of the counter and actually started to asking anyone he seen if they needed help as I stood two feet in front of him. If you are Hispanic don't expect to be treated like a human at this store. read more
