We had a great time when we spent a few hours here! John and Jason were very welcoming and friendly hosts. They were also extremely knowledgeable and informative! We enjoyed learning about Green River products and the history of the distillery. Their cocktails are very tasty! IYKYK - you might be let in on a secret! If we're ever back in Louisville, we'll definitely be back!

AMAZING experience on whiskey row. The ambiance is top notch, superstitious quirky, we loved it. Fortune teller machine, horseshoe coins, and our bartender did magic tricks while they were slow. How fun!!! Great seating area, mid century feel. We ordered Mrs American Rye: rye bourbon, apple cider, dried apple slice, (can't remember the rest). BUT it was so so good, perfect drink to start fall. The had amazing service, knowledgeable staff, told us about the owner, speakeasy (use the phone to access!), and provided entertainment. Gave us a glass of the original marchino cherries. delightful. Can't wait to come back!

I had a very nice time getting out of the heat and sitting on a stool, sipping on berry me in Kentucky. I feel like this is a hidden not so hidden gem since there are so few reviews! Def stop in and try their bourbon, it's delish. The fortune teller machine is cool to do as well.

They have a small tasting room, and if you're a sweet wine lover--this is definitely your place. My favorite is the Bella Rose... so good! They do have some dry options, but their sweet and more "exotic" wines really stand out. The wine tasting is such a great deal--only $10 for 6 options, and they even give you a little cup of Goldfish to snack on between tastings (which is actually perfect). They also have a larger space for events, and my friends and I did their spring mat decorating event--it was SO fun and such a cute experience. The only downside was seating for the event--we didn't realize there was a specific process for reserving spots together, so we almost didn't get to sit as a group. Luckily it worked out when someone nearby didn't show up. Overall, such a fun, relaxed spot with great vibes. I'll definitely be back!

Barrels of good times to be had here…read more Everything is barrel strength at Whiskey Thief, so the five sample tasting is quite the gauntlet. I found the high proof points to be draining, and so I can't recommend buying a bottle with my own money. The chocolates are a must pairing. Service, however, is super chill and friendly. The bar is a chill place to hang out afterwards, and the bitter blend for their Old Fashioned is stellar. I also bought a couple bars of soap. Earthy and aromatic!

One of the things they offered in this distillery was a chance to tap right into a whiskey barrel for a flight of 5 different barrels. This was a really cool option but I knew I had a long day and evening ahead of me so I did not give it a try but definitely will be back to give it a go. They also had a chocolate pairing you could purchase with a selection for each barrel. They had a nice little gift shop and we perused what they had to offer and purchased a Glencairn glass for our collection at home. We sat down at the bar to order our cocktails. Valentine's Day (my birthday) had just passed a couple weeks prior and they still had their V-Day special on the menu so I ordered that cocktail. My cocktail was the Crushed Velvet, Whiskey Thief Bourbon, Creme de Cacao, Vanilla liqueur, Luxardo juice, chocolate bitters, and egg whites. It was a fine cocktail although not my favorite of the day. The hubby ordered a Maple Smoked Manhattan which had Whiskey Thief Bourbon, sweet vermouth, bitters, and maple syrup and he said he enjoyed it. Sitting at the bar was nice because they had a huge window open to the outside and you could feel the warmth of the day and a slight breeze. We will definitely be back to try the barrel flight and the chocolate pairing. Nice little place.

The Angel's Envy distillery is pretty much the #1 reason that my top-tier chum who literally went…read moreto the school of hospitality and I decided to go on a trip to Kentucky, and after actually visiting, justified it as well. During an early 2025 trip to Washington, D.C., we went to multiple establishments and, coincidentally or not, encountered this specific bourbon and just loved it. The most notable occurrence was at Jack Rose Dining Saloon, where I had literally the best Old-Fashioned I've ever had, using a special Angel's Envy that hung out in some sherry barrels for a while. Since then, we've both regularly ordered it when given the opportunity, and ultimately decided that the best way to appreciate this fine spirit was to go right to the source. So to the mothership we went. My chum did most of the heavy lifting here and scheduled a bourbon tour with Louisville Food Tours (very strong recommend) that featured Angel's Envy at the first stop. It's hard to really put into words what this building looks like as you walk in and explore, but it's just so...nice. It's classy without being inaccessible, and it just felt like a true cathedral of bourbon. As tasteful as the bourbon it makes. During our initial tour, we were probably in the distillery for a solid half hour plus, getting a quick tour of the still and fermenters before being led into a side room on the second floor to formally taste some bourbon. Paula was our guide, both during this tour and later on, and was just enormously impressive, which I touched upon in my review of the official tour as well. She's no-nonsense and loves her bourbon - who can't relate? We learned how to inspect the bourbon in the glass, to take a test sip to numb the pain receptors and to truly appreciate the subtle notes in the bourbon with the second sip. It was legitimately helpful, useful information that we're both going to utilize going forward. After our three-hour tour ended (go hard or go home), it wasn't even much of a discussion - we came back here for a few hours to soak in more of the atmosphere and drink some more bourbon. At this point, it was probably close to 5ish but the place was still pretty busy; somehow we were able to secure spots at the bar upstairs and made ourselves at home. I wish I could remember the name of our bartender (blame the time that has elapsed, not the bourbon), but he was very good, social without being oppressive and was just present and let us do our thing. After sipping straight bourbon for most of the afternoon, I switched to the Bourbon Renewal, which you'll be shocked to know includes Angel's Envy but is a more summer, fruit-forward cocktail and super refreshing. Was the right call and hit the spot. (We also got waters because that's the responsible thing to do.) We finally went back downstairs to the gift shop, which doesn't feel like the right term - it was more majestic than something you'd walk into after going through, say, a museum for an hour or two. It's enormous and offers numerous bourbons and also some very high quality swag. We reunited with our chum Paula and sampled their limited edition two-grain, which was created due to a fortunate mistake in which the rye wasn't added so it's just the corn and malted barley. You CAN see the difference and taste it; to me at least, it's more caramel-y than their normal single barrel. We each bought a bottle to bring back to the homeland. My chum basically bought half the store, but I remained calm/deliberate and my only other purchase was a MAGNIFICENT black hoodie. I'm not kidding - I love hoodies and have probably owned dozens over the years, and this is literally the best quality one I've had. It has this interesting front pouch pocket design with like a pocket within the pocket for high-priority items like your ID or credit cards, and the hood itself is interesting. It's just really good and I wore it all day the next day as we slowly made our way back to the East Coast. It's been washed and carefully placed in my closet, where it will reign supreme when the weather inevitably turns nippy again. It's not an exaggeration to say we probably spent hundreds of dollars (at least not thousands) directly and indirectly involving Angel's Envy on this trip. Worth it.

One Sunday afternoon we had a free time in our schedule and decided Prova would be our destination. We arrived shortly after they opened and were greeted by a festively decorated space that immediately set the mood. The friendly bartender welcomed us, and we took seats at the bar. After looking over the Christmas drink menu, I went with the Yippee-Ki-Cocoa Motherf**er--and wow, it was incredible. Made with truffle bourbon, chocolate amaro, cocoa, and topped with whipped cream and popcorn butter dust, it was hands-down delicious. My wife chose the Zabaione eggnog and reluctantly let me have a taste--it was excellent as well. From the Hemingway's Holiday Spain to the Gingerbread Man-Hatten, every drink we tried was fantastic. They were out of a couple of items, but that barely put a dent in our options. And I can't forget to mention our bartender--he was outstanding: knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. We're already looking forward to going back and ordering from their standard menu.

Just attended the grand reopening at the new location recently. They were in the process of moving when the pandemic hit and I had lost all hope the tasting room would never open again. The old location on 10th street was bigger than current location. It's smaller but long on the inside best way to describe it. So as I'm attending the grand reopening, it was later in the evening beings I was going to see a Band Play at Falls City for their Birthday Bash, so the place was still somewhat hopping. I think everyone else there had quite a bit to drink as well so they had to been there awhile. Staff behind the bar was friendly and greeted me promptly as I walked up to the bar. They didn't have any seating at the bar which was odd, everyone that was at the bar was standing. I asked what flavor slushy they had because I saw 2 of them. I was told one was the Singria and the other Kentucky White Lady, one of them suggested I mix them and that's exactly what I did. I stood at the bar and sipped on my slushy. I even walked the small space and saw they have candles scented like the wine but only had 2 different ones. They have more merch now than before. In conclusion, I'm very impressed with the new setting and having the opportunity to reopen. I hope they will host the Kickoff Party For Louisville Pizza Week this year, that's what got me to go their old tasting room. I've missed them having that party last 2 years. Thanks Covid. They also have their wine cheese available too and I wanted to get the Goat Cheese that's absolutely delicious however I was going to the Birthday Bash at their neighbors (Falls City) and didn't want to carry it around or sit in my car. I will be back.
