Everyone seemed very nice and friendly. That's where the positives end. After an hour "diagnosing" our Subaru vehicle (that needed new brakes and we specifically asked for a quote on brakes) the sales associate told us that the tech that reviewed the car found no issue with the brakes...but had $1500 worth of other "optional" things we could do to service the car. After reviewing the laundry list, we noticed that the tech hadn't reviewed the brakes at all (no notes, positive or negative). When we asked about this, the sales associate said that the tech who reviewed our car had already left, so he'd have to have another tech check. After waiting five minutes that tech apparently said it was fine. Mind you, they never took the tires off or actually looked at the brakes, the ENTIRE reason we came in. A complete fumble from beginning to end. I can't recommend a service department with techs that have no idea what they're doing, and are clearly not communicating with their own sales associates. read more

I purchased a 2021 Suburu Outback Touring, have 186,000 miles to date, it has been avery bad experience trying to get my car service as required by the owners manual, every time I attempt to schedule service as required it is impossible, it seems the staff regardless of what department could care less of my need also always are reluctant as well as short, and only on a few occasions have I been able to get service with in reason to prevent a possible engine problem or failure, in saying this my only recourse has been to drive round trip 220 miles to St Louis, MO for service, which has been a god sent, always helpful prompt and curtiious with or without an appointment. Never again will I purchase a car from Green family. I have purchased three vehicles in eight years, this will be the last from this group. read more

Stay away from Green Subaru, Springfield, service department!! My brand new Subaru Crosstrek, with less than 700 miles, died on the expressway about 180 miles from home. The Subaru starlink sevice was awesome. A tow truck responded within 45 mins and towed me to the nearest Subaru dealership, which very unfortunately was Green Subaru in Springfield. I was already in disbelief that my brand new Subaru stopped working (transmission it appeared). This is where my maintenance nightmare began. I left my car there Sunday night. Got a ride to Green Monday morning. Met with a service consultant, Mitch, who said he would get back to me some time on Monday when a full diagnostic was complete. Had to rent a car to get back to Chicago. I have calLed there no less than 4 times, always getting voicemail and never receiving a response. I've even left a message for the dealership's manager. As of today, Saturday, no response. AMAZING!! I thought that because I am an our of towner they felt no need to hurry. But after reading other reviews I have relieved, it's par for the course. You would think that the Subaru corporation would want nothing to do with a dealership with such a reputation. Still waiting to hear what is wrong with my car. read more

Had an semi-emergency while traveling on a Friday afternoon and really needed help troubleshooting a check engine light. My 2016 Legacy was underpowered and the cruise wasn't working. We were heading home for the weekend from caring for my wife's dying father and had to leave that following Sunday to head back, a 450 mile drive. I REALLY needed help getting this fixed, but even after explaining our situation, the service department refused to get us in. We ended up going to Subaru of Champaign, IL. WOW!!!! What a dealership! The were overbooked, but did not hesitate to help us. Their Master Technician, Mike, stayed late troubleshooting and repairing our vehicle. Runs perfectly! Make the drive to Champaign! I'd like to start out that this is my first negative review... Typically I only do positive reviews, but BAD EXPERIENCE AFTER BAD EXPERIENCE. They deserve a bad review. Short story - don't go there. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. I recently purchased a new 2019 Subaru Ascent. While my problems with the car haven't been life threatening, the service department has been A NIGHTMARE to deal with. I bought the car in April and tried taking it in June for an oil change and because my sunroof would not close (of a brand new car mind you). They told me it would be a month wait to get me in. I wait my month and take it in. I was told it would be a 30 minute to an hour process. After THREE HOURS I finally ask what is the problem, and I'm told they can't figure it out so they're just going to send me with a loaner car and they'll call me. They call me and tell me that they have to order a part and I need to come and get my vehicle because it's going to "take a while" for the part to come in. Over a month goes by... no call to give an update or tell me the part is in. So I call myself - the part is in! So I make another appointment (which I can't get in for another month! So now 3 months with the problem!). I wanted to make sure I would get a loaner car, so I called them prior to my appointment. First of all, you can't just call the service department. You have to go through someone who just transfers you. WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT?! I was told they couldn't tell me if I'd get a loaner and someone else would call. A week goes by, no call. I call again and back and forth with inept people who can't give me an answer. Finally I'm told I'll get a loaner. So yesterday I take my car in and was told it'd be done by the end of the day. Yesterday comes and goes - no call (noticing a pattern?). I call this morning and am forced to leave a message. No one calls me back. I called again and finally got to a person. He tells me he can't find my paperwork! He has to call his boss who isn't there. So I'm put on hold to be told that my car wasn't even looked at yesterday because the technician got hurt prior to starting my car! Look I'm not insensitive to someone getting hurt, BUT CALL ME WITH AN UPDATE! I live an hour away from the dealership, so I have to plan when I can make it there. What frustrates me most is that no one can tell you an answer, they do not call with updates or when they even tell you they'll call you back, and no one takes ownership. I'm not without my brand new car for who knows how long... because the guy I talked to couldn't tell me when it'd be looked at. This is my first Subaru and I'm utterly unimpressed. I will never buy nor go to Green Subaru again. I'll be taking my business to Champaign Subaru who I've heard wonderful things about. Longer drive for me? Yupp, but worth it to avoid all of these headaches. read more

I would not personally recommend anyone visiting this dealer. The sales personal here is not professional at all. And btw.... If u hate cigar smell, this is the last place u want to start ur conversation with a sales guy here. You can see cigarettes laying on the table...the room smells terrible. Matter of fact, even he does not know most of the information that I was asking for. This is just my personal experience. As scandalous as their counterpart in Jacksonviile IL. Went in for oil change and head light bulb replacement. Head light still does not work and was over charged $26.95 for miscellaneous BS. Battery is now dead too. I believe that they sabotage the vehicle while its there. The vehicle has more problems now that when I took it in. If they didn't have all that BS in their waiting room maybe they wouldn't have to charge $26.95 is bogus BS crap. Anything with the name Green associated with it is a con game. Never do business with the Green family auto stores unless you like to be sodomized. Run! read more

Purchased my Subaru Crosstrek in Georgetown, TX then moved to Springfield for several years. They have dropped the ball twice on what could be life-threatening issues. During their multi-point inspection which is done at the time of an oil change, approximately a year ago, they missed that my tire tread was dangerously low. I only discovered they were so low when I hydroplaned on a long-distance trip during the rain. I have recently moved back to TX and took my car in for an oil change this past weekend and was told that my brake pads had gotten dangerously low so now the rotors had to be replaced as well. I just had my car in to Green Subaru service for an oil change a few months ago. There's no way the brake pads got that low in such a short period of time considering I work from home, and trailered the car on the long distance drive from IL to TX. Bottom line is that I do not trust Green Subaru service department's multi-point inspection. They will upsale filters and wiper blades but forget to check the most important things like tires and brakes. read more

Expect professional car care from a dealership.......not here. Took our Subaru to a dealer to get the best service and knowledge from the vendor themselves. Went through the recommended service and even added additional work not needed to be preventative. Bill came to over 3k. Understood for the major work required and thought we were back on track and comfortable that we got this out of the way. Drove car four times after getting this back and check engine light comes on. Call dealer and told to drive it in. Everyone here is very nice and friendly. Take car in to get looked at. This is when the dodging phone calls started and attitudes changed from what we were originally presented with. Finally get to have a conversation about the diagnosis after four days. "Your engine is ruined and needs to be replaced....". Unreal and it continues into its our fault and we didn't do some work that was not recommended till after and not told may become an issue to cause this. Were told that we should have told them to do this diagnosis as the issue is common on Subaru's. WHAT????? Everyone at the dealer is now real dumb and quiet to this whole episode that is happening. This post can go on much longer but you can imagine how this has concluded. Wish I would have read some of these other reviews before visiting this "amateur hour" at Green Subaru as we would have never considered even visiting them. I just wanted to share our experience and ask that everyone do there research and proceed with caution if you have work done at this dealer. My mother received several notices about a recall on the airbags in her 2004 Subaru Outback. Living 1.5 hours from the nearest Subaru dealer, and caring for my sick father, she wasn't able to take her car to be fixed. A couple of weeks ago, Subaru Corporate contacted her via telephone and requested that she take her car in for the repair asap. So she contacted Green Subaru in Springfield, IL. She made the appointment for 10:45 am on September 12, and provided them with all of the car information, so they could order the correct part. Well, today is September 12th, my parents drove to Springfield to get the Subaru airbags replaced. They arrived at Green Subaru Service Dept at 10:45, and was ignored the first 5 minutes. Finally, "Roy" asked what was needed. He was told the the airbags were recalled and she had an appointment to get them replaced. He said it would take a few hours; probably sometime after 2:00 pm. He would call when it was ready. Roy DID NOT CALL UNTIL 3:10. At that time, he indicated that they didn't have the right part and couldn't replace the airbags! They had tore the dash apart, and then realized they didn't have the correct part. MY 83 and 81 year old parents were livid. They had to kill 4 hours for nothing, and ROY was unbelievably callused about the situation and the inconvenience he had put them through! My father asked about getting a gas card for their time, gas, and inconvenience. ROY said, "We don't give gas cards. But if you want to wait in the lounge for 20 minutes, I'll have one of my guys run your car down to the gas station and fill it up." My parents kindly declined the offer, because they didn't have another 20 minutes to spare. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TERRIBLE SERVICE DEPARTMENT!
