The sushi is always fresh and on point. A little on the pricey side but I suppose that's generally how sushi is. If you look at the specialty rolls you'll see they'll get up to almost $20 which I personally think is insane because one Roll is not satisfying. It's very easy to rack up the bill when ordering here. I've had Sushi from/in Japan and it wasn't nearly this expensive. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative I would check out the lunch specials. You could get a complete lunch for around $8. I have to bump Green Tea up a star after being back a few more times in the past year. I think the sushi has certainly improved - although I still avoid the heavily Americanized/fried rolls. But they do some good versions/variations on tuna rolls and spider rolls, and I like some of the lighter salads and appetizers as well. Took a friend recently who is normally very tough to please with Asian/sushi and she was impressed. So I'm glad this place is still around and perhaps just getting better and better. read more

This restaurant is my go to place. Not just because I am asian but I do love their food. Service - Its pretty good. They are very pleasant and friendly. (unless they just see me there once or twice a week) Food - I have tried a couple things so far they are all good. Our favorites are Scallion Pancake, Sesame Chicken, Beef Broccoli, Salt and Pepper Calamari, Thai Basil Noodle and American Dream Roll. I have tried the following but it's not the same as how it was made at Bangkok Restaurant I used to go to in Voorhees which are the Beef Teriyaki and Pad Thai. I am not saying they are not good but I am not impressed by it. I also tried their Fresh Mango Flavor Shrimp and that was also so so. Price - its a bit pricey but it is worth it. read more

Great Sushi (I ordered Chirashi there) and great Thai (I ordered Beef with Red Curry) Been here a couple of times and on the surface the staff seem friendly enough but someone who is a student of body language might pick up on the fact that the smile is on the surface of the faces and no deeper. The family visited Green Tea last Sunday for a birthday dinner, and it was as wonderful as ever. We arrived in the early afternoon and found only one other couple there, which was the plan, now that we have an unpredictable one-year-old with us. The baby doesn't like most food that she's ever tried but opened wide for more of our daughter's Miso Soup, so we were thrilled. Daughter and I had sushi, mine being my standby J99 - Twelve Piece Sushi Deluxe plus an additional Spicy Scallop Roll. So fresh and heavenly! My Hot and Sour Soup had just the right amount of spice (I could make a meal on this soup alone) and the mug of hot green tea was perfection. Hubby and the two grandkids shared a plate of orange chicken with noodles and rice, and they all enjoyed it, and I had a dish of their green tea ice cream for dessert. The rest of the family sampled and passed on it, but I love it. It has a subtle flavor and doesn't clobber you with how excessively sweet it is, the way most ice cream does. Our server was very pleasant and just attentive enough, and the price was satisfactory, considering the amount of sushi that two of us had. We are planning to go for our Anniversary dinner. We have had food here and I guess it's all in peoples taste buds because we have not found any that compare. The Calamari is crispy and not chewy . The sauces are light yet flavorful. The atmosphere is great and the service is quick & friendly. The Sushi & Sashimi is always fresh and delicious. I probably would have given 4 or 5 stars just a couple of months ago. This restaurant has always been a favorite of mine since they opened up over a decade ago. Since the pandemic, I have been staying in as opposed to going out, however after a month of this, I figured it was time to start doing more take out to support my local restaurants in, what I perceived, as a dark time for restaurants. Yesterday, when I decided to do take-out, I first went online to place my order and pay for my bill since that's what almost every restaurant is doing but to no avail. I was unable to order online. The website said I had to call and place my order and pay. I thought, that's fine. That is, until I had to call 21 times before I even got through. Then she put me on hold!!! Apparently they are just too busy. I'm thinking why am I spending money I don't have to support a restaurant who clearly is thriving during this pandemic. I already had my order decided so I went and ordered anyhow. She said 30 minutes. I got there in a half an hour and I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for my food. As much as I like their food, I will NOT be back until this pandemic is over. I will not go through that nonsense ever again!! read more

Worst Pad Thai I've ever had. It wasn't only lacking in all of the flavors I love from pad thai, it was inedible. Thai Coconut Chicken soup was okay but the chicken had a strange texture. Very descent. My husband and I lived near Tokyo for several years and have traveled all over Asia, and we still enjoy eating at Green Tea. It's Asian fusion, and the food has an American spin for the American palette. So long as you aren't expecting super authentic food, you probably won't be disappointed. The sushi is okay - good for the area and the fish has always been fresh tasting - but it's not up to Tokyo standards (but, we ARE in Swedesboro, so that's okay!). I enjoy their tofu pad Thai, and sometimes I get crispy eggplant and tofu (it's not on the menu - you have to ask for it). Their green tea is pretty good and is usually fresh and piping hot. Been here three times, first two were pretty good. Last time not so much... I ordered straight from the menu the first two times with no problems! But on my third visit (when I was the only customer seated in the restaurant) I asked for a menu item with some additions... Nope nope and nope. I asked for their Unagi Don( eel over seasoned rice) with sliced avocado and eel sauce. Waiter took my order and after a back and forth with the chef comes back to tell me the chef wants to charge me for an avocado salad(a separate menu item) and that maybe I should just forget about the avocado... I had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE here! First, I received a House Green Salad with my sushi lunch, and after a few bites I noticed a bug on the lettuce. I alerted the waitress and she took the salad. I requested for the price of the salad to be reduced from my bill, and they refused. I then received my Shrimp Tempora Roll, after 2 bites I realized it was just the shrimp rolled up in rice. In every Shrimp Tempora Roll I've ever eaten, there was shrimp, cucumber, avocado, etc. They didn't offer to fix it so I just told the waitress to just take it off the bill. She comes back to me and tells me the "boss" refuses to take it off the bill because I started to eat one of the sushi rolls. I asked to speak to the "boss/owner" but he refused to speak with me. Once given the bill, I paid for my drink but refused to pay for a meal that not only had a bug in it, but was just not satisfactory. After walking outside, the owner and about 3-4 of the other staff members, came outside yelling derogatory remarks. Once of the waitresses came up to the car door, begun to bang on the window and try to open the door. I've never EVER had an experience like that, especially when the restaurant was the one who messed up. Save your money and go to Tokyo Mandarin!! read more

The best part of this meal was that the wonton soup was typical and cheap. The pot-stickers we ordered were thoroughly burnt. Tonight my wife and I revisited Green Tea to see if the food and service was the same as we have experienced in the past. Well looks like nothing has changed . I had Kung Pao Chicken with fried rice on the side and my wife had Chicken Fried Rice and Wonton soup.The Fried Rice was awful! It was greasy with no flavor and was sent back. The Wonton soup had dumplings that were not freshly made, very gummy broth was bland. All the food we had was typical Americanized strip mall Chinese food. Waitress had an attitude from the start. First-the food is excellent! I'm a regular here for lunch. I am VERY picky when it comes to Chinese food, especially dishes with chicken. I got the Sweet & Sour Chicken and a Shrimp Egg Roll. Everything tasted so fresh! Also, the chicken wasn't overcooked as it is at most Chinese places. I can't wait to try the sushi! The place is very clean and nicely decorated. My reason for only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the service needs a little work. They are very quick to seat you, take your oder, and bring your food, but then you are basically forgotten about until it's time for the check. They don't check to see how you're doing, how the food is, if you need more to drink, etc. read more

My wife and I have never had a bad meal at Green Tea. They have Japanese, Chinese and Thai food. We usually only get the sushi here, though. I have never been a fan of getting sushi at restaurants that serve all types of Asian foods other than Japanese, but their sushi might be the best around. We used to drive to Blue Fin in Plymouth Meeting, PA for great sushi. But, now we only go to Green Tea. No lie, their sushi rivals or beats Blue Fin's. read more

What happened here? Have gotten food from Green Tea maybe 15 times since they opened, usually take out, and it has been very good. We even brought food in when we had company at our home and all mentioned how much they enjoyed it. They last two times were OK at best and this time it was terrible! The food is excellent and the service is friendly and fast (a little too fast). It is a BYOB and there is a liquor street in the same shopping complex. I eat there or order and pick-up food from there multiple times a month. I especially like their specialty rolls (red heart roll is my favorite) and gyoza (Japanese dumplings). The negatives are the decor (get something on that giant green wall already!) and the service (it's too quick! They need to work on pacing the timing of the food when apps and entrees are ordered and need to be patient and give customers time to review the menu before ordering and time to finish eating before coming over to clear our plates). My boyfriend and I love it here. The sushi is pretty good, it's definitely fresh and tasty. About 2 months ago I went out on a limb switched it up, and ordered the sesame shrimp. In my opinion, it's the absolute best I ever had.... from anywhere!!! This is all I order and all I crave anymore. I'm interested in ordering more from the Chinese section of the menu, but the sesame shrimp is so good I stick to that. My only complaint is they don't have 'all you can eat' sushi nights. read more

So I'll never be eating at Green Tea again. They were never the best place for sushi (or service) anyway, but it's always been ok - fresh at least - and their Chinese and Thai dishes were pretty good. Monday night...not so much. I got take out - a spicy lobster roll, spicy yellowtail roll, and kani salad. The salad was fine, but the sushi smelled strongly of (not fresh) fish. I should have stopped at the smell. I tasted a piece of each of the two rolls I got. The first was definitely...less than fresh. The second was inedible - I literally spit it into a napkin. So I call and they offer to make me another order. No thanks, just want a refund. Then they offer a discount for my next order. No thanks, just want a refund. I drive back with the bad sushi. They tell me "I asked the chef, they said it's fresh..." Umm, like they're going to admit it's not? Then they run my card for the refund (minus the $3 tip which apparently they still felt entitled to keep) and hand me the receipt. Then they tell me they have to re-run my card for the kani salad that I got with my sushi (a whopping $6.36)...ok. You would think good customer service might dictate a full refund for the inconvenience, but okay, I ate it - I'll pay for it. I'm then asked if I've ever had sushi before. (Great, a little side of condescension with my inconvenience.) I guess they really needed that $9.36. That's fine. It's not about the money. But they sure won't be getting any more of mine... read more

One of my favorite restaurants! I love their scallion pancakes with the beef topping. Sushi is very fresh. I love that I can watch them make my sushi rolls. Lunch specials are too good to pass up. We wind up ordering 4-5 sushi rolls and an entree for the lucy specials and have a wonderful feast! Area is nice and clean! read more
