I tried China House with my friend and my brother, and I honestly can't stop thinking about it--especially their salmon skin roll. It was absolutely phenomenal. The skin was perfectly crispy but still tender inside, and the flavor was rich, slightly smoky, and just overall amazing. Everything tasted super fresh, and you can tell they really know what they're doing. I loved it so much that I went back the next day and bought two rolls to bring home. And this is the crazy part--I accidentally put the bag on top of my car and drove off... so of course it fell off while I was driving I was SO upset because that's how good it was. Please don't listen to the bad reviews. Some of them as so old. Honestly, even after living in this area for a long time, this is the first time ordering from this restaurant and our food was amazing. My shrimp were jumbo, and I think there was at least a dozen in my Pad Thai. My husband had the General Tso combo platter and it had big chunks of real chicken and the broccoli was fresh! Only complaint was that we asked for extra spicy on the general tso's chicken, and it wasn't spicy at all. May have been an oversight. read more

The Mongolian Beef was neither chewable nor able to be cut with a table knife - mostly gristle. The General Tso's Shrimp arrived as chicken but nevertheless it also was not edible. The owner, in response to a bad review, offered to provide a complimentary General Tso's Shrimp, admitting their mistake, but seriously, if their GT's Chicken was not edible, would their GT's Shrimp be any better? First time ordering takeout from China House. My wife and I were very pleased with our order. (My wife doesn't usually like Chinese food--but she loved the food). We ordered fried dumplings which were crispy bottomed and still hot. The Hot and Sour soup was flavorful and just the right level of heat. The beef and scallops was delicious. They even included some extra brown sauce. General Tso's chicken was the best version I've tasted around here. I think we have found our new "go to" Chinese takeout. read more

To sum it up: Looks can be deceiving. First of all this place is located in a shopping center among a thrift store and a dry cleaner. We ordered Chinese food take out here previously and from what I remember it was pretty decent, I was sick then so it wasn't really able to taste fully. My bf mentioned that there's a sushi restaurant inside as well. After being hesitate for a while I caved in and decided to try it. From the looks of the outside you really can't tell there's a restaurant inside. The restaurant itself inside feet quaint. The decor was minimal but warm. We went on a Tuesday night and there wasn't much people dining in. All the traffic came from take out orders being picked up. We ordered Philadelphia roll and spicy tuna roll which was both pretty good, the fish tasted fresh (all that matters with sushi). My bf had the chicken teriyaki and he seemed satisfied with it. I had the chirashi which was served differently from what I was used to. It was plated more like a sashimi platter rather than over a bed of rice. However, besides that the taste was great. It consisted of about 16 to 18 pieces of sashimi which came up to about $15. You really can't beat the price. Overall this place offers great food, good service, and awesome prices!! read more

With that said, we ordered: - two Hot and Sour Soups - House Special Chow Fun - Dynamite Roll - Sweetheart Roll - Kani Roll (Kani Roll was free because when you buy two special rolls, you get one regular roll FOR FREE!) The soups were good, but not great. There were, however, wonton chips and duck sauce which accompanied that, so. And the chow fun was delicious - definitely better than those oily ones at the other Chinese take-out places. Onto the important part... the sushi. I know this may seem weird because the place is after all Chinese, but the sushi was one of the better ones we've had up here in Jersey to date. You don't know how disappointed we have been countless of times with sushi up here (Oh Yoko, in particular) that China House rounds up as one of our go-to's when we crave for sushi (besides Sakana). To go into detail: DYNAMITE ROLL: spicy tuna and yellowtail topped with sweet kani and tempura crisps - nom nom nom. SWEEHEART ROLL: crabmeat, shrimp tempura, cucumber and topped with sweet shrimp, smoked salmon, and avocado drizzled with eel sauce - YUM. SWEET KANI ROLL: sweet kani (basically krabmeat salad) - eh. Few people would expect such decent sushi and food from a Chinese place especially within a shady plaza strip and few would expect such when there was practically no one dining (there were a lot of take-out orders though). I usually absolutely love this place. But today they completely messed up my entire order, AND proceeded to yell and argue with my daughter about the exchange/correction. Darn near physically assaulted her and literally threw the container at her. They "substituted" egg rolls for shrimp roll cause they ran out, but didn't tell us (thankfully we don't have shellfish allergies) ... we found shrimp in our pork roll (maybe they didn't clean up - cross-contamination). All to get home and find out that the replacement meal was literally just egg with plain fried rice. I could have made that at home cheaper. Based on the quality of food and the price point, China House rates higher than any of the standard Chinese restaurants in the surrounding towns. This is a very nice sit down or take out joint. The avocado salad & chicken wings are must get items every time I go. The sushi is very good as well. Friendly service and quality food at a good price point. This was my third visit to this restaurant. The first two visits went with my husband alone ordered my favorite dishes, sushi, beef broccolis, and general tsao chicken. They all came out delicious! So we decided to go back this time with our new baby, the staff was friendly and helpful to set up table and high chair so making it most convenient to care for our baby while we can enjoy the food. The entire experience was wonderful, except the beef in one of our dishes was little bit overly cooked. That's why I give it a 4-star. P.S. It had been awhile since I ate in but I went there about a month ago with my youngest son. We had a great meal from soup to desert. I had the pepper steak with pork fried rice and a shrimp role. My son ordered chicken cashew which was actually made with peanuts. We both enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine in honor of their 27th anniversary. Ordered shrimp with garlic sauce like I have many times before. The guy who took my order got confused and put down shrimp with broccoli in garlic sauce. When I went to pick up my food the error was identified and they took the meal back to the kitchen and removed the broccoli and sealed it. When I got home all that was in my meal was 7 pieces of shrimp nothing more. I gave this place a chance to correct there mistake and they chose to deceive me. They have lost this customer forever! I rarely find chinese food I like unless I cook it at home. Their food is excellent, especially the sushi rolls and lo mein. We had a bit of a mishap a few months ago. I called, and the rep immediately put the manager on. She apologized and provided us with a credit for our trouble. I called back a month later fully expecting to have to beg for our credit, and the person who answered the phone knew who I was! When I commented on that, she said the manager had told everyone my name and to make sure I was taken care of next time I come in!! Amazing customer service.
