The chili verde was similar to a chipotle bowl. The rice was amazing! And the steak was tender and juicy. The salsa was supposed to be spicy but it wasn't for me. I recommend getting extra salsa. The red beef and tomato was similar to a stew. There was a lot of sauce and also very tasty. The portions were pretty big so my boyfriend and I both had leftovers. Beyond annoyed with this location. The last few times I've ordered via Door Dash there has been missing items. So good! First time eating here but it won't be the last! The Chipotle Corn Chowder was really tasty with a little kick to it. Broth was creamy, not too thick and not watery. Plenty of veggies topped with crispy tortilla strips and cilantro. And it was served piping hot. Nothing worse than being served lukewarm soup. The Sweet Potato fries were crispy and delicious. I don't care for brown sugar on sweet potato fries and they gladly left it out. I had the bowl size of soup and it was a very generous portion. Lots of good veggies, but it didn't have enough taste. The peanut sauce was good, but I can't pinpoint what was missing overall. Did everything need to be a little saltier? A little sweeter? The tofu wasn't crunchy crispy on the outside, it felt like it had been prepped a little earlier. The rest of the veggies were on point, well balanced, a good mix of everything with the black beans. Let's talk portion size. The large bowl wasn't very big. The large bowl was a lot less food than you would get if you were to order a medium poke bowl at your average poke takeout. And comparing with Mixabowl in the Mainplace Mall, at that make your own bowl place I get almost double the food and it's cheaper. I like this place. This is where I take all my friends to make them feel good about themselves after a run. JK but they have some really good food that is really healthy too. I've gotten many things here but I come mostly for their Chili Verde Steak bowl with Avocado. It has a really good portion of rice, meat, fruits, and veggies. All the good parts of the food pyramid.. Not that I know what that is.. lol Their tuna poke is good too and I'd definitely recommend it I you'd like to take a break from your average millennial poke shop. The Green Tomato Grill, the place where vegans, vegetarians and meat lovers all come together. We first tried this place awhile back after one of our good Yelp friends held a UYE event here to help introduce everyone to the breakfast menu. The food was good (although I feel it was a tad below the lunch/dinner options), the staff was awesome and the place was very nicely setup and really has a nice warm and comforting ambiance about it that makes you feel right at home. After experiencing the breakfast items, I knew it was just a matter of time before we headed back here again to try the lunch/dinner menu. When scouring the area for a place to eat the other night I came across my bookmark for Green Tomato and me and my wife decided now was the time for our revisit. The menu has changed a bit since our first visit but I feel that the overall enhancement of the items is probably for the better. Several menu items immediately struck me as potential choices but I decided to try the Verde Steak Melt. The Verde Steak Melt consist of marinated grilled steak, jack and cheddar cheeses, onions, bell peppers, corn and black beans all with a chili verde sauce (Habanero sauce available if you would like the dish hotter on request, I will definitely try this next time around). The steak was melt in your mouth good and all of the flavors meshed nicely giving this a great southwest style flavor to it. The melt itself is a good size and is reasonably priced as well. My wife decided to go with the Greek Chicken Melt and also seemed to really enjoy her dish as well. The chicken melt looked absolutely delicious (although I wasn't offered a bite to experience this for myself) but this is for sure one of the next items I will try. As users of the Spot On app that Green Tomato is a part of we scored a free order of Fried Green Tomatoes which everyone seems to rave about. Neither of us had tried these in the past but we both seemed to enjoy them and would no doubt order these again. You can also check in for a free bag of adobo lime popcorn which is unique and taste great. The staff here is always very kind, courteous and helpful. They never fail to make suggestions and make sure that your experience is a good one. The interior seating is ample and nicely setup and they offer several more tables on the outside patio which is also quite nice. This place is definitely a great place to try if you want to delve into the world of healthier eating without losing any of the flavor you are accustomed to. I usually get the greek chicken melt or the kids grilled cheese. Both are pretty good in the pita/sandwich department. The grilled chicken melt is a pepper lovers dream come true. A mixture of red and green bell peppers on a hot date with some onions, smothered with melted cheese. Its gewd. It comes with a tzatziki sauce, but I prefer one of the other sauces or no sauce at all. The hubsters and our friend who doesnt yelp had the Verde Steak melt. They both liked it. It was stuffed with steak, peppers, onions, corn, black beans and cheese. We added the habanero fire sauce. I had a little licking, and that stuff was HOT!!! For desert, I always order the vegan thumb prints. The hubsters, whose very carnivorious, likes them too. I just dont tell him hes eating vegan. He doesn't have to know. As soon as we walked in, a lady greeted us and explained the menu. We could choose anything of off the menu, but customize as we saw fit (chicken instead of shrimp, tzatziki instead of BBQ sauce, etc...) or we could create our own dish by filling out a form and choosing what we wanted. She also told us we could sample any of the sauces before making our decisions. Nice! We both decided to order off the regular menu. While ordering I noticed they had three types of fresh lemonade behind the counter. I am not into super sour things, so I asked how sour the Ginger Cucumber lemonade was. She gave me a sample! It was really good, not too sour, so we both ordered that to drink. Two drinks, two entrees, and an appetizer was about $25. Not bad. Popcorn - Free with Yelp check in. You are given a brown bag of hot popcorn with some sort of spicy lime seasoning. Very good, and we brought half of it home. Fried Green Tomatoes - We got the small order for $2 (cheap!!) and BF was mad that I didn't order the large size! I agreed with him though, we totally could have eaten more of those. They were light and crispy, not greasy. Good on their own, even better with the creamy BBQ-ish sauce served with them. Next time, I will opt for the large order, for only $4. Greek Chicken Melt - Delicious! This was BF's dinner, and I had a few bites. very flavorful chicken, loads of peppers and onions, and cheese, all wrapped up in a yummy flatbread. Served with a very minty tzatziki sauce on the side. I will order that in the future. Chipotle BBQ Shrimp Melt - Another awesome meal. Plump juicy shrimp, cheese, onions, corn, and peppers, also wrapped up in the fluffy flatbread, served with a chipotle BBQ sauce on the side. Honestly, everything on the menu sounds great. Very rarely do I see jicama used by restaurants and it was used deliciously here.
