We've been here a few times and I am happy to say I've tried something different each and every time. That's saying a lot because I'm generally a creature of habit. Green tomato grill offers a vast menu that includes various bowls, wraps, melts and salads. To date, I have to say my favorite are the bowls with the Thai Peanut Shrimp Bowl being my favorite and the Chile Verde Steak Bowl my second favorite. They have two sizes but I the smaller size has always been more than enough for me. They also have a small kids menu that includes a chicken rice bowl, steak rice bowl or grilled cheese. It doesn't specify but the kids entree does include a drink. One of my favorite reasons to come here, however, is for their unique agave lemonades! They have pineapple berry, cucumber ginger mint, and jalapeño mandarin. I've tried all three but my favorite is the pineapple berry. The green tomato grill in Brea I would rate 4-5 stars but this one is a solid 3 for me. First off, this one doesn't serve acai bowls for some reason. Super bummed about that because I was really craving one the last time I went. Second, they forgot to give me popcorn with my order! At first I thought that my order just didn't come with popcorn but my friend went the very next day and ordered the same thing I got and had popcorn on the side for free! So they really need to be more consistent with that. The seating here is a bit crowded as well, not as spacious as the location in Brea. They have outside seating too but it's also pretty small. I haven't been to the new location in Huntington Beach yet but I'll probably check it out soon to see how it is. As for the food, I love their crispy bbq tofu bowl! I would definitely recommend it to anyone! It's very filling and flavorful and leaves you happy and satisfied! The vegan char burger is pretty good but I've had better. This place is good but still have not found what I liked here. Got the burger and salad here before. The meat patty was dry and I don't care for burgers who have iceberg lettuce on it. The lettuce in the salad was old and wilted, couldn't even finish it. My husband enjoys the Caesar wrap. The fried tomato is where it's at! The crunchiness and flavor of batter is so good. I was lucky enough to participate in a Yelp event here last night... Everyone here is really friendly! Kyle brought us our food, and he was so nice and friendly and helpful. We got to try a few things: Popped Corn: This had amazing flavor. Fried Green Tomatoes: I am not a huge fan of tomatoes, and these had no flavor reminding me they were tomatoes... and they were SO good. The coating almost tasted like it had a cajun flavor... I couldnt eat them fast enough. Crispy Chick Peas: The last thing I thought I would rave about - and I cant stop talking about them. SO good! They are delicious! I ordered the #4 Grill Bowl - BBQ Crispy Tofu Bowl. I ordered chicken instead of tofu. There were so many tasty things in this bowl. Fresh avocado on top, black beans, cabbage, corn, jicama, snow peas.... sauce, flavor never ended.... I couldnt even finish the regular sized bowl - I was full. ATMOSPHERE: It's pretty lively inside, it is order first - sit down - wait for food so it's almost like fast casual food, but the green chairs and bright interior make it a little nicer for a lunch or dinner. When you first walk in there is a menu but there is another one above the cash registers. You can also customize your own bowl/salad/sandwich and circle what you want with crayons (which don't work very well). FOOD: I got the customized salad. Base - mixed greens, spinach or a third option but I can't remember which one it is. Meat - chicken and tofu are free, the rest cost an extra 50 cents. Toppings - you can choose 4. I got avocado (extra 50 cents), corn, edamame, and bell peppers. Sauce - the "mediterranean" sauce is almost like a hummus. I realized if you get a salad, get a dressing type sauce because the hummus sauce is weird when tossed in a salad. Most people get chili verde sauce. Overall, the salad is BIG, plenty of food on one large plate. The chicken is very tasty, seasoned well which reminded me of Shophouse. It's not just a plain grilled chicken chopped up. I love love love this place and their healthy eats! so thankful it's down the street from home The poke bowl is my fav. A wonderfully balanced mix of tuna, avocado, onions, and rice. Pair it with lime cilantro brown rice... the addition of lime and cilantro adds another layer of flavor. One bowl is a definite tummy filler! The verde steak melt is my next runner up. It's made my comfort food list. Another place that the yelpers got right with the reviews!! Came here with family to get an early lunch--- I got the turkey sausage with a egg white, and wifey got the chili verde steak melt. Both dishes were amazing!!! The portion sizes were impressive as well. And for both of us to be able to eat for under 15 bucks rocks as well!!! This place is similar to chipotle, in the sense that they have bowls. I think I ended up getting a steak bowl? And it was really filling. They also have a lot of different sauces to use. they also have drinks/lemonade that you can get with sparkling water to cut the calories in half... but then again, I feel like you're cutting the flavor in half. Lol As for the fried green tomatoes, (come on, you have to get it at least once if you're going to check this place out) it was my first time trying fried green tomatoes, and it was a lot better than expected. I was expecting something sour, but it's not too bad. Not as sweet as the red vine tomatoes, but interesting to try. If you check in, you'll either get popcorn or coffee. This might be my new to go lunch/dinner spot. Ordered online and it was ready when I came. Got the Greek Crispy Tofu Salad ($9) and Sweet Potato Fries ($3). The salad was fresh, there were a lot of crispy tofu squares in it. I thought they were croutons at first, as I was looking through the salad to see where the tofu were. The lemon vinaigrette dressing was refreshing and light. The salad actually filled me up, surprisingly. The sweet potato fries were okay. Not crazy good, but not horrible. Folks, this review is for the breakfast at GTG. Also, Chef informed me that all the sauces are vegan now, except the Tzatziki sauce. The honey is replaced with agave in the Chipotle BBQ and Lime Vinaigrette. The menu still says honey in it since they haven't changed it yet. The sauces are delicious! You can make your own breakfast burrito or order the one with soyrizo with no eggs. I opted out to make my own with spinach tortilla, tofu, black beans, onions, spinach, and Chipotle BBQ sauce. Yum! They also have flavored fresh brewed coffee. I selected choc raspberry this morning. Bring it to work and add my own soy cream and agave. Yum! The service is also fast and friendly. Check-in for a "free thing" as its called on the Yelp page. Chile-lime popcorn! Although its simple, it's quite addicting! My boyfriend and I almost finished the entire bag before the food even came. Since there was only about 20 minutes until closing, one of the girls came around giving everyone a free bag to get rid of them. Don't mind if i do! Otherwise, they are only $1 per bag and worth trying. Thai Chicken Salad ($7.65): mixed greens, chicken, carrots, cucumber, snow peas, bell peppers and onions with thai peanut sauce. I asked for the sauce on the side but when it came, the sauce was already combined. Hmm.. simple task. I didn't like their thai peanut sauce as it tasty too fishy (fish sauce mixture maybe?) for my taste. The salad was light and left me feeling full but not nasty. Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seats consist of 3 community/picnic style tables surrounded by bushes. Indoor seating has high and low seats of your choice. The black beans and rice were honestly my favorite part. The meat was seriously lacking flavor though. We also got the shishito peppers appetizer. They were grilled and topped with butter and salt. I could have done with less butter and less salt as the peppers were delicious on their own. Came here on a double date with my friend and her boyfriend because she had eaten here before and said it was tasty and reasonably priced. My friend got a wrap which she liked except they forgot the sauce and she said the garbanzo beans really needed some kind of flavor from a sauce. Her boyfriend also got the steak bowl. They split the fried green tomatoes. I liked that the sauce was on the side so that it did not make the crispy exterior soggy. The cashier was friendly and helpful and she brought out our food after we ordered at the register. The restaurant was clean and bright and well maintained. Overall I would eat here again if I were in the area since it is a healthier alternative to other quick bite places but I would not drive out of my way since I can make this at home with less salt and more spices. read more

My wife and I frequented this place during COVID. They have the best breakfast tacos (eggs, bacon, etc. in a tortilla). Their food is mostly healthy and always tasty. Great selection of drinks, too. I really like their fried green tomatoes, you have to try them. I can't imagine they are healthy because they are fried, but they seem better for you than french fries and taste just as good if not better, so there's that to consider. Now I know why it's been sought after all these years. I took one bite into one, and it was just pure nirvana! These were also gluten-free and they totally satisfied my friend as well. Dip, bite, enjoy, repeat, dip, bite, enjoy, repeat! ~ BBQ Pork Melt ($8.95) - This was basically tender braised pork sauteed with some cabbage and onion all stuffed into a grilled flatbread. It also came with a chipotle bbq sauce which was also killer! Bite after bite, then grabbing a fried green tomato. Uggggh, I was overjoyed! ~ Blackened Calamari Burrito ($10.25) - Now this I wanted to eat right away, but I was too full from the BBQ Pork Melt that I took it home. The calamari was good, but it was also filled with corn, tomatoes, avocado, romaine lettuce, and some drizzled lime vinagrette. Add some cilantro lime rice, wrap it up in a tasty chipotle tortilla and you're golden! Can't go wrong ordering this item. =+= Service =+= ~ No issues. The cute girl with glasses at the register totally helped me out. So many things to choose from up on the menu board.
