holy buss. the interior is super homey and lived in super nice vibe. the food was very yummy. the pork belly was super good but very fatty obviosuly it had a really nice smoky flavor. the brisket flavor was good but i will say it was a bit dry. the mici (romanian caseless sausage) was also very good, it was my first time trying romanian food and it was quite good. probably not my first choice though pork belly was my favorite of the bunch. the lamb sandwich was really good at first and it had some sort of white yogurt sauce maybe tzaziki to help cut through the fattiness but it was just way too rich by the end of the meal. the roasted veggies were ok i would prob go for mash potatoes whcih were really good. one problem we ran into was the long wait time i dont even remember how long but it was quite a while but the food was really good. def wanna come back to try other things. read more

Amazing food, great environment and the owners are awesome. The Pork Stew was delicious and so fresh, popping with flavor. Their deli counter is great with house made cured and dried meats. I bought a couple of links of dried and spicy Kolbas. I am Hungarian and enjoyed every bite of everything I had. The owner speaks Hungarian as well and we had great conversation. There were plenty of parking spots. I went with a friend to try Romanian food. The menu includes many delicious dishes. For example; beef or pork stew, tri tip sandwich, chicken fricassee, Romanian Bruschetta, pork chop and more. The restaurant runs by a wonderful and friendly family. They cook everything from the scratch. I ordered Mici with bread.Mici is Romanian skinless grilled sausage. It was rich, juicy, and very flavorful. You say you are feeling off, impatient, angry. You need something to sooth that savage soul and feed your vulnerable side? Some great, ethnic comfort food wouldn't hurt, either? Well, boy do I have a place for you! What a lovely start. As I stepped inside, I felt my entire body being swept away to another time and place. Every square inch was beckoning, asking my mind to forget the California, uninspiring hot asphalt outside and embrace the imaginary, rustic, 100 year old Romanian farmhouse decor inside. The only thing missing was the sweet little old bunică (grandmother) wearing traditional hand woven clothing and a headscarf to greet you. However, I'm pretty sure she was there in spirit. This tiny, hole in the wall cafe offers a nostalgic menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items, traditional Romanian style. Hearty soups, stews, smoked meats and exotic sausages, delectable sandwiches, beautiful steaks, lamb, and more depending on the season, each one sounding better than the last. The spell is only briefly broken as you discover you must place your own order and pre-pay on a touch screen computer. Honestly, it's quite easy. I like that each entree has a beautiful photo attached so you can see exactly what each entree looks like. The food presentations are beautiful. The prices are insanely reasonable. My only complaint was I was too short (5'2") to reach the top of the screen to cancel the page. I never imagined being vertically challenged might cause trouble here. The friendly owner/chef came to my rescue. I had to try the Stuffed Potato topped with burnt ends (smoked brisket ?). Traditional? Probably not. Good? Hell yeah. A whole, tender baked potato, split open and covered with melted white cheese, burnt ends, and generous amounts of smoked pork belly lardons. Perfect. This was served with a tzatziki (?) sauce made of sour cream, goat feta cheese, and dill. The accompanying "pickle" turned out to be a crunchy, pickled cabbage slaw. The grilled, half corn on the cob that came with my meal was buttery delicious and lightly salted. $15.99 Smoked pork ribs. I believe this included 4 nicely smoked ribs, drizzled with a bbq sauce. It came with one side, plus the aforementioned pickled slaw. I highly recommend the house made sourkrout (her spelling, not mine). It was a very mellow, non acidic version with a delicate smoked flavor. $15.99 Add to that a side of homemade mashed potatoes. Not your grandma's recipe, and delicious. $4.99 Atmosphere is welcoming and incredibly calming. Seating is quite limited, mostly 2 top and 4 top tables. The final touch was soft, soothing, New-age music in the background (think pianist, Danny Wright). There are also more than a few imported grocery items displayed on shelves for those adventurous chefs who know how to use them, or found a great recipe they must try. Plenty of food, enough to bring home for another small meal. And a great chef! I can hardly wait to return to try more. Loved it! read more

Yet despite the very nice service and the charming atmosphere I felt that the quality of my medium rare breakfast steak wasn't up to par. I like my steaks medium rare yet my steak seemed well done and not really seasoned. My eggs came sunny side up. They never asked how I liked my eggs. I usually get my eggs over easy or scrambled. This family run joint is so near and dear to me. They are incredibly kind and treat each customer like family. It's so heart warming to see them hold their own family functions in their tiny restaurant, so much that you can taste the love in the food they prepare for you. On more than one occasion, we've ordered holiday catering and our dinner party guests are always blown away by the quality and delivery of everything. Definitely recommend the traditional turkey dinner that can feed ~10 and come with pickled sides. I love that the smoked turkey isn't overwhelmingly smoky. The one star is for the food. Had to deduct the other stars for awful AWFUL customer service. We ordered food to be picked up specifically at 4:15 because we had plans with the family. Ordered way ahead of time and even got confirmation stating "See you at 4:15". My husband called me at 430 because he has been waiting for the food and they told him they are about to get it ready. ABOUT TO GET IT READY? If I had the time to spare, then why did I bother to order ahead of time? 4:45 (30mins late already) and he is still waiting for the food, so I finally told my husband to ask for a refund but he said the food is ready. Almost 15 mins later and it's finally getting packed. The food was not ready til almost a minute before 5pm. One of the worst part of this experience, the supposed manager's attitude was just whatever. NO APOLOGIES FOR THE WAIT, NO FRIENDLY TALK ABOUT THE DELAY OR EXPLANATION TO WHY. The hunters platter was similar size to the bbq platter but with much more exquisite options in meat - must try it you have an adventurous appetite. The food is aesthetically beautiful as it is delicious. We're always grateful when we can find a place that captures great flavors as well as knowing how to cook the meat just right. Parking - plaza parking so we have yet to have trouble finding parking. Pricing - given the ambiance, service and quality of the food, I'd say the pricing is extremely worthwhile. We've only ordered platters up to now which came out to 30-50 a person depending on the platter & # of people. If ordering individual dishes then this price will obviously be even more flexible. Staff - amazing service! Claudiu is so welcoming and friendly - all the more reason to keep coming back. Restaurant - it's easy to overlook the restaurant from the outside as it is in a plaza but once you give this place a try, you certainly won't forget it. The style inside is homey and full of memories. Took our friend here and her first impression was that it felt like Europe (we love Europe vibes). Only thing to be wary of is the limited seating so we learned from our first visit to call ahead whenever we can. It's a very weird setup that you can enter into the place from both Katella and their back parking lot. No one to greet you if you're coming in from the back. Plus the day we came, AC broke, so we were already sweating from the get go. My friend and I sat down and accessed their menu from the QR code. Looked around again... finally walked up to the deli case and was able to get some clarity. Order at the counter, then sit back down and wait. It felt like a fine dining place that tries to cater to the busy patron as well. It was very weird to eat our soup of the day in a fancy ceramic bowl and silverware, then our $16.99 brisket on a paper plate and plastic utensils. Server wasn't intuitive that we were already sharing the brisket, so why wouldn't he bring an extra spoon for the soup when we already mentioned it during ordering? I get it, they're probably losing their marbles in 90 plus heat in the kitchen. So that's why I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. The flavors in the brisket didn't disappoint, and the green bean soup had some bacon bit surprises! They do have intl pantry goodies, hence their name.
