I wanted to leave an updated review because, unfortunately, I wasn't very impressed with my experience. One of the biggest issues was the lack of consistency around pricing. The price I discussed with the dermatologist for laser treatment was different from the amount I was later given in writing, which left me confused about what the actual cost would be. I was also unexpectedly charged a higher copay for what I understood to be a basic office visit. What disappointed me most is that I had enough confidence in this practice to recommend it to people close to me. I had planned on doing laser treatments alongside my mom and my partner, but after this experience, I think we'll be looking elsewhere. The service itself felt pretty basic, and the communication around pricing and billing wasn't what I expected. Transparency and consistency are important when patients are making decisions about treatments, and unfortunately that wasn't my experience here. I have been seeing Dr Kane since she was at her first practice in San Francisco. She trained under a fantastic dermatologist who was one of the first doctors to use Botox. This review SHOULD be five stars but they get one. The doctor who treated my wife is fabulous. The PA that did my fillers and botox not amazing but a nice person. So I'm going back to my usual dermatology team in Los Angeles. I recommend this place if you can get an appointment with their doctors. It seems they don't care about their patients however as they don't answer the phones. My wife has been trying to call this office for a month. Since she had her last in person visit. She sees a doctor here who told her to book 3 appointments a week minimum of light box treatments. The problem is that they don't answer their phone. I've been trying to help her myself as it's very frustrating to see her suffer with a skin condition and we know this treatment works and the offices are 5 min from our new home. But they don't take appointments by phone anymore. And EVERY time we have gotten a call back we have missed their calls. And so we try calling them back again and it's been like this phone tag situation for over a month! It's really a disservice that a doctors office can't get their act together and hire a normal secretary that can answer their phone. Instead of some cheap AI thing called Clara. That doesn't book appointments or help patients. So what's the point? See picture I'm posting and note the time stamps today Monday May 19. We started calling at 11am. Impossible to schedule an appointment or talk to anyone on the phone. I am an existing patient, but they have made it incredibly onerous to talk to anyone at all and all scheduling has to go through a clunky texting platform- with long delays before you hear back. Get a simple schedule online like other offices. Furthermore, emails are not responded to either. Hope the Drs. and staff address this problem. read more

I was told Dr Kane only sees cosmetic patients or if I was uninterested in cosmetics I can pay a program fee to see her. I asked more about this program and was informed that the program cost an annual fee of $1500!? 1500 dollars for "customized care" and "long lasting relationships" with my doctor. What a slap to the patients face. Are those not a given in patient care?? Dr. Kane is everything wrong with the health care system. come to find out a girlfriend of mine used to go here and Dr. Kane had abandoned her care for money. I had a horrible experience at Greenbrae Dermatology. It appears they're only interested in cosmetic procedures and top-level private pay. Firstly the person on the phone said that no other dermatologist was available and assigned me the physician assistant - claiming that she was a dermatologist. Then from the beginning to the end of my appointment Madison was abrasive, extremely patronizing, had zero listening skills, and a severe lack of knowledge. Very disapointing that the PA would be so cavalier as to suggest my daughter with MILD acne could benefit from Accutane. The only risk he claimed was dry skin and that she couldn't become pregnant. Upon leaving, I did research and confirmed that Accutane is for SEVERE acne and when a patient goes on it, they need to be monitored monthly with blood tests to make sure the drug doesn't harm their ORGANS. I immediately found another dermatologist who will value a holistic approach and be judicious with treatment, not a pill slinging, overprescribing PA who is not truthful or accurate with his recommendation. I had previously seen a doctor at this practice that was wonderful but retired. I was assigned a new doctor at this practice and thought I'd have the same experience. Unfortunately I had a much different experience! Although I've had acne since my mid 20's and taken prescription medication for it, suddenly the new doctor indicated that it was hormonally related so insurance won't cover the cream I was using. Keep in mind that I've been using this product for years and it is the only thing that actually works. He prescribed an oral medication that did nothing. The worst part was that he insisted that the cream won't work and coded the condition as hormonal therefore my insurance company wouldn't cover it. Then recommended I purchase their generic version of the same cream! What?!?!? The whole experience did not feel patient centered and more focused on building their cosmetic dermatology revenue. Dr Kane is fantastic. She is thorough and spends a lot of time explaining your skin & providing you a range options on skincare. I was a patient of hers in San francisco and continued to drive to Marin to see her because I thought she was a fantastic dermatologist. Unfortunately, a HUGE downside is the office staff. It might just be one woman but we have had repeated terrible experiences with her. Unfortunately the last few times we have called or visited, we have gotten SUPER rude and short responses to basic questions about appointments and prescription refills. I have never had someone interrupt my question and then get mad at me because I re-asked the question. It's honestly really perplexing and unfortunately the office staff is the only way to get to Dr Kane so there is no way around interacting with them. This has happened a few times for both me and my partner and is frustrating enough that we are considering going elsewhere for derm moving forward. read more

Seemed like a cool and nice doctor but after biopsy, few days later get a phone call from some office worker saying the lab came back with Melanoma and doctor wants you to come in next month. No other details. So I wait all weekend wondering if I'm going to die since there is no real cure if it has spread. I call the following week to get the pathology report which shows it has not spread. So, what kind of low budget dr's office is this where the doctor does not call you to say what grade the Melanoma is, since #3 or #4, your dead? He's that busy for a 3 minute call, so he has some office worker call with no details? This is not like I have an ingrown hair or a rash. Totally unacceptable and unprofessional even by 3rd world standards. Their credibility ended right then. Two weeks later I went to UCSF Melanoma clinic where they are going to cut it out in a week. BTW, the standard at UCSF is that ONLY the doctor calls you with such a serious diagnosis, if not request to see you in person. He knows this is not the professional way to handle this, but obviously he doesn't care. So much for all the 5 star ratings. read more

Cheryl is the best dermatologist I have ever been to. I went in for a mole check because I am so white that I am almost see-through! She checked me everywhere and took pictures of anything that might change. She was so very thorough and sweet. I also had a couple things I wanted, some sunscreen, a retinol, and something for rosacea. She, without me even having to ask offered those things. The building is a little weird, and the office isn't super fancy. But I appreciated the care I received there. I'll take that any day over a fancy office. I am so glad I found her and will look forward to my yearly check-one. read more

I rarely write reviews... in fact, I've never written a negative one, but I had such an unpleasant experience at Greenbrae derm that I had to share. Actually, the worst experience I've had at any medical facility in my life. When I walked in, the girls at the front desk were exceptionally rude and short with me. They told me my insurance wouldn't cover the visit (fine), so I said I'd use my Health Savings Card. The woman looked at me like I was crazy and told me they don't take that insurance.... Anyone dealing with health insurance should know what a health savings account is. Or at least be friendly about not knowing!! So she checked and came back begrudgingly to tell me I was correct and that I could use it. She also charged me a "new patient fee" even though I've been to the office in the past. Fast forward to my visit with Dr Kane who seemed nice and confirmed I had poison oak. She said she'd send out a prescription for some cream. She then proceeded to ask me if I wanted 3 different creams for my acne and said I could laser off the smallest red spot I've ever seen in my life (this is the first I've seen it... and needless to say, I couldn't find it once I left). She told me she could send in three creams OR I could buy THEIR cream for $60 (not covered by any insurance). The problem? I have zero acne. I literally looked in the mirror once she left to confirm that I was in fact being gaslit by a Dermotologist in an attempt to upsell. The real kicker? She didn't send in the prescription for the poison oak cream. So two trips to CVS and two days later, I'm still itchy. When I finally got a person on the phone (which is almost impossible), they hadn't looked at the address I wrote down for the correct pharmacy and sent it to some random one in a town 30 mins away. I called back to fix the problem and "Isa" told me they had just filled the new prescription (6 hours after I called and 2 days later) so I asked if she had an idea when the pharmacy might fill it and she cut me off, told me she's just the messenger, sarcastically told me to have a good day, and hung up on me. Couldn't recommend this place less. read more

Had a cyst removed by Dr. Sharma. She was very informative. Minimal discomfort during procedure. She used resorbable sutures so I wouldn't have to return for removal. Really appreciated this as I'm recovering from stroke & in a wheelchair. She provided wound care instructions & it's almost healed 3 weeks later. Staff is professional and friendly. Only drawback is building isn't easily handicap accessible. Otherwise highly recommend this practice. read more

During a visit to see my Fiancé in Tiburon she convinced me to go to a dermatologist to have some spots checked out on my chest (well she actually insisted I go :) ). She sent me to Dr. Zand whose staff got me an appointment with short notice. After the standard filling out several forms I was escorted to an examination room. Dr. Zand didn't leave me waiting long, in fact it was one of the shortest waits I have had at a doctor's office in a long time. The great news was that the spots on my chest were just from aging and were not a health threat. What impressed me about Dr. Zand is that as she examined my back, chest, arms and face she stopped at each tiny spot of anything and explained to me what it was, if there was any future threat from it and what to watch out for if it changes. I was expecting a "you have no problems, you're fine". Surprisingly what I got was a great deal of knowledge about my skin and what to look for to detect problems in the future. To me, that is what the modern doctor should be doing.....helping me know when it's time get medical attention instead of waiting until its too late. Just had an appointment with Dr. Sinae Kane about two weeks ago for an IPL facial and Resurfx and my skin looks ahhhh-mazing. She was incredibly professional and explained everything to me, I felt informed and confident that my skin was in good hands. She kept checking in with me to make sure I was comfortable. I had an appointment recently at Greenbrae Dermatology for an IPL treatment. The office is conveniently located right off Bon Air in Greenbrae and had plenty of easy parking. Dr. Kane was so warm and friendly while also proving to be extremely knowledgeable! I had an IPL treatment to work on some redness around my nose and lighten up some brown spots. I wouldn't describe the treatment as painless but it really wasn't so bad. Especially now that I have seen the results. Dr. Kane talked me through everything and told me what to expect. She helped me during a very difficult time when I had alopecia areata with a large area of hair following out on top of my scalp, and thanks to her and her treatments, my hair has grown back. I'm a redhead, so going to the dermatologist is a twice-annual affair for me. I've seen many many skin doctors in the Bay Area and I am so glad I found Dr. Zand! She is very personable and efficient! I was able to get an appointment in a timely manner, there was plenty of free parking in the lot at the office, and the staff was super friendly. I was seeing Dr. Zand for a regular mole check-up but when she asked me if I was interested in skincare recommendations, I said yes. She sent me home with samples of Elta sunscreen that I LOVE! The Elta MD UV Clear SPF 46 is the best sunscreen I have ever used (no smell, rubs in easily). I highly recommend this doctor. read more

Had IPL treatment with Dr. Sinae Kane last month and had the best experience hands down. I'm somewhat of a skincare fanatic with a multi-step daily regiment. Right before seeing Dr. Kane, I over-exfoliated and irritated my skin. Dr. Kane was incredibly knowledgeable and understanding, she got me comfortable with the treatment, customized the treatment for my skin tone and skincare goals, and walked me through every step of what to expect. My husband came home from the hospital with a bad skin rash. Went to our primary care doctor who wasn't sure what it was. I called Greenbrae Dermatology and they managed to squeeze my husband in for an appointment the next day. Dr Maddox took a look, took a swab, took a peek under the microscope and gave us a diagnosis on the spot, along with an Rx and instructions. I highly recommend Dr. Tanasovich and Dr. Maddox. Dr. Maddox had to remove a weird skin piece on my back. I'm not a fan of needles. He was so good!!! I never even felt the shot to numb my area. I had been going to Greenbrae Dermatology for over 8 years. I will never go back. Why? - they gave me a retin-A 'script filled in the office with the WRONG INSTRUCTIONS! As a result, my face broke out in a horrible rash and the sensitive skin around my eyes burned for 3 days. When I called to let them know, they admitted someone put the wrong instructions on the bottle!! They did NOT apologize. And they did NOT let me return the item or get a refund for the money I spent on it. I trust my doctors to not give out the wrong information. And so should you. - rude receptionists & office manager. Dr assistants are the only ones who have any kind of bedside manner or customer service skills. Everyone else seems angry and put out by having to take care of patients. I don't know about you, but I don't appreciate being treated as if I am a nuisance by simply showing up for an appointment. - at my last annual checkup, Dr. Tanasovich failed to give me a thorough body check - she forgot my entire chest and parts of my back. This borders on malpractice. - they refused to give me a receipt for an item I purchased - when I called the second time after not receiving it and being told it would be sent, they told me they couldn't do it. The office manager tried to tell me what my FSA would or wouldn't accept, spoke over me, raised her voice and became hostile. There are so many other dermatologists in Marin. I refuse to give me money to a practice that shows such little respect and regard for their patients, not to mention causing harm & damage to the skin they are being paid well to care for.... read more

Dr. Tanasovich was very nice and did not rush. I was a new patient (55 year old female) in for a routine check. She examined me from head to toe. I appreciate that she did not try to sell me products or other services. She said I was fine, and asked if I had any questions. I mentioned I thought I have rosacea on my cheeks/nose, but is light and easily covered with makeup when needed. She said I do and said there are topical formulas I can use to make it better and less apparent if it bothers me. She suggested a combined formula, which combines 3 or 4 topical pharmaceutical-grade ingredients in one gel, making it just one co-pay rather than three. I asked for bottle, which cost $56. I have been a patient of Dr. Zand's for 2+ years. She is AMAZING! I see her for a whole range of dermatological services (skin cancer check-ups, Botox, filler, skin care products, etc.). At this point I would be very, very hesitant to go to anyone but Dr. Zand. I checked out her credentials before I chose her. She is HARVARD educated and I noticed that she has also been an expert skin MD on national news programs. Her skill and educational level are exceptional, yet she is also so kind and caring. Dr. Zand will spend the time to hear and address your concerns. She is without a doubt the most skilled Dermatologist I have even been to. read more

Dr. Zand is a gifted doctor. I have teenage daughters with an array of vexing skin issues. Non are life-threatening but when you are a teenager you can be super sensitive about how your skin looks and feels. Dr. Zand engages the girls as team members in their own treatment. She treats them with dignity, kindness and caring and they have fully bought into what they need to do to adhere to treatment protocols. And they have had positive results - including a significant reduction in anxiety about their skin. I did notice a review that wasn't very complimentary about the office staff. I can say that the front office service has improved quite a bit in the last couple of months from what it was when we first started going there! read more

Dr. Sarvenaz Zand is amazing on many levels. She's on top of her medical game, extremely knowledgeable, has an excellent caring manner and is sincere. She is fully pedigreed with a top-notch medical education (as other reviewers have noted) but she does not have an aloof manner -- she's accessible, has a great sense of humor and is compassionate. The overall office is well managed, the staff are friendly and professional, billing/logistics are straightforward, waiting room and offices are clean and have updated magazines and newspapers -- it's an efficient operation. I had an absolutely horrendous case of poison oak (in my eyes) and decided to skip the ER visit hassles and go straight to Dr. Zand. I arrived at their office the moment they opened (I did not call ahead) and they were able to find an appointment for me less then an hour later. Amazing. Truly amazing. Dr. Zand quickly diagnosed the issue and determined the most effective treatment path. Within hours I was recovering. Dr. Zand handles my routine dermatological needs and again, always has time for discussion and follow-up questions. Never is their feeling of being rushed and the wait-times are all short. Check-in at front desk to sit down with nurse practitioner: short. Time from nurse practitioner to Dr. Zand's arrival: short -- short defined as under ten minutes. I've seen Dr. Zand five or six times and each visit is the same, short waits and overall efficiency is consistent. My benefits plan may change next year but I will continue with Dr. Zand even if I have to pay out-of-pocket -- which is the ultimate endorsement. Context: I'm a 45-year-old man with basic skin issues and occasional challenges like poison oak exposure. read more

Do not go here! The office staff is the worst combination of incompetent, rude and self righteous I have ever encountered. I am still reeling from my experience there today. I showed up for my scheduled appointment today ( I go every 4-6 months for botox and general skin care) and after a wait, was ushered into an exam room by a medical assistant. She did the usual history, allergies, general health etc. Then she handed a dismissal letter! No explanation. I was shocked- dismissed!?- When I requested to speak with the office manager for a reason. She came out from hiding in her office to inform me that I was being dismissed because of a missed appointment. The office manager, had it in for me- she was hostile, argumentative and obviously does not like dealing with people. She treated me as if I had stolen from her. First off all, I never missed an appointment- I am however guilty of rescheduling my appointments- always at least a week before. As a working mother of three toddlers, my schedule is crazy and the $600-$800 I spend at the office for botox and other items is not always in the monthly budget.So I did call several times and rescheduled. The women who answered the phone call ( alsways a new one, never well trained or efficient) always seem to be juggling phone calls and I was constantly being put on hold.I believe that their receptionist obviously made scheduling errors and failed to cancel my old appointments, which made them believe that I " no showed". My complaints are If i was going to be dismissed from the office 1. Why did they allow me to schedule another appoinntment? 2. Why did they not call and cancel my appointment if they were going to refuse to see me? 3. Why was I brougt into an examing room, asked very private questions about my health and medical history if I was never going to be seeing a doctor? 4. The hostile way in which I was addressed- they WANTED to argue and accuse. What I find the most troubling is not only the arguementative and condescending tone that I was addressed with, but the fact that it seems that they INTENTIONALLY tried to humiliate me by bringing me into the office under the pretense of an appointment, creating a vulnerable aptmoshere of sitting in the exam room and answering personal questions before " dismissing me".
