I am really impressed with Greencast and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I live in a townhome in a 3-unit complex. My unit has had minor roof leaks over the years, but in fall 2018/spring 2019, with the major rains we had, the leaks got really bad. My ceilings were stained with ugly yellow water stains that just kept getting bigger, and rainwater was even starting to come through the drywall and dripping on floors and furniture. After speaking with my HOA, I reached out to a number of companies for estimates for roof repair or replacement. I contacted Greencast for an estimate via Yelp and they got back to me within a couple of hours and set up an appointment for that week. Barak came out and met with me and provided an estimate for the replacement of my unit's roof. After a while, the other homeowners decided that we should replace the roof on all 3 units, so I reached out to Barak to see if he could give me an estimate for roof replacement for the entire complex. He did so within a couple of days, in a written estimate that was clear and easy to understand. The estimate included having a painter come and fix up the stained paint and cracked drywall on the inside of my unit. At one point, Barak let me know that he accidentally left a charge out of the written estimate, but he said that he would not revise the estimate because he wanted to keep his word as he knew the HOA was working off of the prior estimate. I was impressed by his integrity. During this time I was getting estimates from other roofing companies. In all, I obtained 4 estimates in addition to the one from Greencast. Greencast's estimate was the lowest by several thousand dollars. This made me a little suspicious because I wondered if they'd missed something or were going to use cheaper materials. But with the other companies, I had to call them repeatedly just to get them to send me an estimate. They never followed up and didn't seem eager for our business. They also said they had no idea when they could start our project as it wasn't a high priority for them (they had other larger residential and commercial projects to work on). I figured if it is was that hard to get them to send an estimate and if they were that unenthusiastic at the start, it would only get worse and I didn't want communication issues with them once the project started. In the end, we went with Greencast and I'm so glad we did. It was super easy to communicate with them, especially with Barak who responded to text messages quickly, called me to explain all of the details, and who responded to my emails and questions at all hours. I felt like I was always in the loop and never lacking information. The project started and we saw roofers at our complex every day, starting before 8:00 a.m. as Barak promised. The roofers were courteous and very pleasant and took all steps to avoid inconveniencing us. Unfortunately, completing the project took a little longer than we thought, but that is because it kept raining and the rain delayed the completion. Obviously I don't fault Greencast for that. As soon as the weather cleared they were back on it and the whole project was done within 2 weeks. When the roof was done, one of the homeowners asked if the "lower roof" (the small portion that hangs like an awning over our balconies and driveway) had been done. Barak came out and met with us and confirmed that his roofers had not done the lower roof, so he sent them out immediately and they completed that project at no extra cost. The painter that Barak sent was also very meticulous and prepared. He finished the project all in one day. When the roof work was done, the roofers stopped by to clean all of the debris from our yards and patios, which was quite considerate. I would definitely recommend this company and I would not hesitate to use them again. read more

Hired Barak to replace our roof and instead of installing the new roof in the time frame specified, he sub contracted the job out, didn't finish it in time and left the house fully exposed to the elements causing rain damage to the entire property. Now after I had to hire a secondary company to fix the roof he is still avoiding paying back the money we initially paid him and the money spent on hotels as we had to move out while water damage was repaired. I would leave zero stars if possible. GreenCast was the worst contractor I've ever engaged so I advise that you not be fooled by the glowing reviews that were placed on yelp. My experience was nothing like them. Pay attention to the negative reviews--they are the real ones. It's better to pay more for someone else. Barak hires subs that do shoddy and substandard work and everything they did had to be redone. One sub brought his 12 year old son to do plastering work. He has broken my $2000 mirror cabinet, wrecked my bathtub, didn't know how to install my door lock, didn't know how to install a light switch, and the window he installed was done improperly so that I had to get him to hire someone else to do it correctly. My 3-month job took over two years and then he walked off the job. Don't believe any of his promises and keep copies of his nasty emails and texts. When you talk to him, make sure he shows you his insurance policy and don't agree to the arbitration clause. Keep the number to the Contractor License Board handy because you'll need it. read more

Wow, where to start? We hired Greencast (Barak) to remodel our kitchen, laundry room, and replace the flooring throughout the house. Before we even signed the contracts, we informed Barak of our daughter's asthma and that we needed the construction areas to be sealed off with plastic. He agreed to seal off the work areas and put plastic with zippers for access. Fast forward to day 1 "demo". They didn't seal anything and needless to say, our house was covered in dust & debris from our 1950's house being demolished. Who knows if lead or asbestos was present, because they didn't test for it. The only licensed subcontractor they brought in was the electrician (BlueMan Electric). All other workers were handymen or hired laborers. If you check their license on the CSLB (Contractor's State License Board) website, you'll see that Jakov Golan is a sole proprietor and he has ZERO employees, therefor he carries no workman's comp. insurance for anyone working on your property (including Barak and Lenny), so if anyone gets hurt, it's on you. We paid for recessed lighting (as stated in the contract) yet they put in surface mount lighting. They said it would be a "change order" if they would fix their "mistake" and give us the recessed lighting that we paid for. After contacting the electric co., I found out that it was cheaper to install surface mount lighting. They were doing things out of order, then having to go back and try to patch/fix things which just made it worse. For example, Barak scheduled the drywall to be done on Monday, yet the electricians weren't coming until Tuesday to move some outlets and run wiring. Rather than holding off on doing the drywall, they came and did their thing. The next day, the electrician made a bunch of holes in the new drywall. After about a week or so, a handyman came and patched the holes. So now you can see patch marks in our new drywall. The job was supposed to take 8 weeks, but as they were rushing things early on, Barak said they were going to be done in 6 weeks. We're now on our 10th week. We haven't seen or been able to reach Barak or anyone at Greencast in over a week and a half. They've walked off the job without finishing. Unfortunately we paid them all but $4,000 so now they don't care to come back and finish. I'm now having to take them to arbitration (which you will have to sign and agree to before they start work). I've since discovered that arbitration disputes do not show up on the CSLB website, which is most likely the reason they make you sign the arbitration agreement. To make things worse, I referred Greencast to a customer of mine (when things were going good early on in our remodel). She's an elderly lady (all by herself). They charged her $23,000 more than me, even though her kitchen is a third of the size of mine, and no laundry room. HERE'S SOME FREE ADVICE: CAREFULLY READ THE WHITE COPY OF THE CONTRACT "STATUTORY NOTICES". IT TELLS YOU HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM MECHANICS LIENS. "YOU CAN PROTECT YOURSELF FROM LIENS BY GETTING A LIST FROM YOUR CONTRACTOR (GREENCAST) OF ALL THE SUBCONTRACTORS AND MATERIAL SUPPLIERS THAT WORK ON YOUR PROJECT". DO NOT SKIP THIS PART. MY WIFE AND I HAVE ASKED FOR THIS A DOZEN TIMES AND HAVE YET TO RECEIVE IT. YOU NEED TO DEMAND IT BEFORE YOU ISSUE YOUR NEXT PROGRESS PAYMENT. THE ELECTRICAL WORK THEY HAD DONE NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THE UNDER CABINET LIGHTING DOESN'T WORK AND 2 OUTLETS DO NOT WORK. I FINALLY REACHED THE OWNER OF BLUEMAN ELECTRIC AND HE INFORMED ME THAT BARAK HASN'T EVEN PAID THEM YET, SO THEY WILL NOT FIX THE ELECTRICAL, NOR WILL I GET A WARRANTY FOR ALL THE WORK DONE. THE FLOORING HAS ISSUES AS WELL, AND AFTER I SPOKE TO OSCAR FROM THE FLOORING CO. HE TOLD ME THE SAME THING. HE HADN'T BEEN PAID EITHER. THERE ARE ISSUES WITH SOME OF THE CABINET DOORS AS WELL AND SOME CABINET CROWN MOLDING THAT (STILL) NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED . AFTER SPEAKING WITH RHOCHIE AND BENJAMIN FROM MTD KITCHEN, THEY TOLD ME THAT BARAK STILL HAS AN OUTSTANDING BALANCE WITH THEM AS WELL. GET THE LIST OF CONTRACTORS AND SUPPLIERS AND DEMAND MECHANICS LIEN RELEASES BEFORE YOU ISSUE PAYMENT. THEY CAN PUT A LIEN ON YOUR HOUSE, EVEN IF YOU PAID YOUR SHADY CONTRACTOR (GREENCAST)! AVOID THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE DISHONEST AND HAVE NO INTEGRITY!!! Unfortunately, I can't post pics in this review but I will be posting several pics to show the "quality work" that Greencast provides and the mess they left in front of my house and in my driveway. I've received several quotes to haul away all the construction debris (that according to our contract, was supposed to be done by Greencast) so far the cost is between $450-$750. read more

They responded very quickly to our request for a quote. Next thing we knew, Barak was at our house measuring everything, and the work started relatively quickly. Barak was also able to help us figure out some lighting issues, and upgrades to the kitchen plan. The job took a little longer than we wanted but the job got done. The tile guy did a solid job of laying it down, however there were some issues with attention to detail in the closets (mortar all over walls), but overall, I love the tile floor! The popcorn ceiling job is a messy job that left a lot of plaster debris in those spaces, however I am ecstatic with the results in the living room and the hallway (especially the lighting solution). The kitchen counter is amazing, and I love the upgrade to the disposal on/off button (great solution!). We did encounter some issues a few times with coming home to an unlocked door at the end of the day and no workers in sight. Additionally, the interior cleanup was not the best. WARNING STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!! This company is so unethical. I don't even know where to begin. We personally dealt with Barak and it was the worst mistake I have ever made. Upon signing the contract I let him know about my daughters lung condition and he said "Don't worry we will have everything sealed and covered". That did not happen. On top of that he allowed his tile guy to mix grout in my daughter's cereal bowl because he was too lazy to get a bucket. When I questioned him in regards to why things were being done over and over again (because things where being done backwards) he got in my face and yelled at me in front of several of the workers. This company is great if you don't care about good workmanship and do not question anything that is going on IN YOUR HOME. I am now dealing with electrical problems, unfinished drywall, moldings, baseboards, tile, paint, and they installed the wrong flooring (not what I picked nor signed for). Again STAY AWAY. read more
