We had an amazing family get together. Everyone loved it. The facility is a bit outdated but extremely accommodating.

Oh What A Delightful Treat...!!…read more From the moment you walk in, you glean that this restaurant and inn is a very special place. The beautiful dark wood and crackling fireplace create a comfy and elegant ambiance that sets the tone for an unforgettable culinary experience. Our decision to come on a Saturday night was last minute, so the only way to get in was to arrive at 5 pm when they open and sit at the bar. Oh and what a treat and delight that proved to be!! Devon Whittaker, the mixologist, was about to begin a stint at Bard College on a Fulbright Scholarship to study some aspect of the neurosciences. Like Tom Cruise in the movie Cocktail, he dazzled us with his physical artistry and quenched our thirst for delicious drinks both with and without alcohol. It was a true "umbrella" drinker's (me) paradise. The food, exquisitely prepared by Chef Corwin Cave, was understatedly absolutely sublimely delicious. From the liver pate and house special lobster delight appetizer with oh so freshly baked bread, to the just perfectly prepared lamb shank as well as Wagyu beef and fish dish, our taste buds and nasal receptors were stimulated and satisfied to the max. Not to be left out was the wonderful assortment of deserts worth every calorie taken in. Our only regret was in leaving this culinary sanctuary which became tolerable knowing that the restaurant was only a reservation and two hour drive from NYC away...

We started with the focaccia, stracciatella dip, and charcuterie. The stracciatella was just fun. I've had a great stracciatella gelato before, and this dip was like same but as a dip for bread. Nutty, creamy, and a bit chocolatey balanced. Our charcuterie came paired with some figs, peppers, and mustard. The trout and corn fritters were amazing. It's like a super airy, crispy seafood hushpuppy. It's kinda tucked away under Standard Fare of the menu, but it is a must order. The lamb shank was also very good. There is no gaminess in the meat. The sauce was a nice balance of sweet and tart from the plum and berries. Service: 5/5 No complaints with service. Our waiter was very accommodating and explain each dish we ordered to us and gave good recommendations. Drinks and food all came out pretty quickly. Ambience: 5/5 The place is called Deer Mountain Inn and that's exactly how it felt. The wooden interior, fireplace, deer head on the wall, chandelier, carpeting really made this feel like an inn.

Separate bathroom so we shared but it was clean. No bed bugs neither. We just needed a pillow to sleep on and it fit the bill. I wonder how it is in the Winter.

I wasn't sure what to expect so it was a bit of luxury hotel shock or the lack of for me. I'm used to staying at nicer franchise hotels but for the price I paid at this B&B it def was a good value. The rooms have double beds so for the price I paid it was insanely dirt cheap when split with my friend who room shared with me. So based on the price I paid I can't say this place was bad and what my hiking team needed was pretty much a bed and pillow for the night. Snowed Inn provides just that, bed & pillow for a quick rest. Upper levels have rooms with shared bathroom and shower room. They do offer free wifi and the rooms have really bad decor but if you can look past the bad decor and outdated feel of the place it truly does have value for what you pay. The old lady that was running it the night I stood, presumably the owner, was super nice. Lower level has coffee, cereal and very minor amenities. So if you are in the area and just need a quick night or two to rest then this place can fit the bill. If you plan on being out in the Catskills for more than 2 days I'd probably find someplace a bit nicer if that's what you need (based on your personal preferences/luxury requirements). Would I stay here again? Absolutely!

This…read moretime, I just stood in every room and contemplated how perfectly put together they were (English Arts & Crafts to the tasteful max!), how gorgeous the views were (Kaaterskill Clove) and how happy I was to be able to spend a few days there soaking up the mountain air. It is hard to believe this little piece of heaven is just 10 miles off the Thruway and near Hunter Mountain of all places. We stayed in Room 2, which has a private deck (facing the Clove and Sunrise) as well as a jetted tub. At $200 it was also pretty reasonable. We slept great in the queen-sized four-poster bed and very much enjoyed the free WiFi. The owners, Kathy and Sean are wonderful: the perfect balance of helpfulness and aloofness. This is the second B&B Kathy designed and she really did learn a lot from the experience. She is also an outstanding baker (and I know my baked goods)- we really enjoyed the breakfast! Sean was knowledgeable about local hiking routes and parks: he pointed us to the "secret" and refreshingly easy hike down to the top of Kaaterskill Falls (*exquisite* view) and then to the gorgeous all day hike up in North-South Lake State Park. The views of the Hudson Valley and then the mountains and lake were a revelation. Next time I will bring a picnic lunch and a six-pack to complete my idea of a perfect fall day. All in all it was a perfect weekend and I can't wait to go back!
