Super bad experience and I world not recommend to anyone to go here. I got referred here and I wish I hadn't listened to them. The memory of what happened still haunts me now. It must be great for parents whose kids don't have problems with anesthesia (if that was even what happened) but they didn't tell me there was a problem with my child until an hour later and I was too horrified at the time to do anything other than grab my child and leave as quickly as possible to calm down my scared and in pain child. Never went back. Can't believe how we were treated that day and afterwards. They should have communicated with me and asked me if it was okay to proceed knowing there was an issue. Parents have a right to know what's happening. So wrong!!! read more

I would never take my kids here again. This place was horrible and the trauma still haunts me today. They are unprofessional and not the slightest bit worried about being held accountable for their actions. Worst experience with a dentist office ever. Make sure that you stick by your kids the entire time they are there. They will tell you that you can't be there with your child, and they won't notify you if something goes wrong. We just had our first visit and it went great! The hygienist (unfortunately I did not catch her name) did such a good job making my three year old comfortable and took the time to explain the different dental tools and what they do. They had a little bag of goodies with my daughter's name on it waiting for her when we arrived which made her feel special, and they were very accommodating when she was reluctant to lay down for the beginning of the appointment. Dr. Hull was really nice as well and again had a great manner with my daughter. She was really nervous for her first appointment but thanks to the team she did a great job! read more

We always have a 5 star experience here. Dr. Hull treats my son and our family like family or long-time friends. He remembers us extremely well each time we come in, whether it's six months or a year that passes. Everyone in the office is equally friendly, warm, welcoming and they're also professional, caring and efficient in their work. They do not rush; they answer all of our questions and Dr. Hull is also very kind and thorough; he also never rushes us. This is the perfect place for kids to come for dental visits and any necessary work. Visiting a dentist can be tough and very stressful for kids/families, but this bright/warm office instantly sets my son at ease as soon as we walk in the door. It's fabulous! He loves it! We love it! Let me start out by saying that the dentist and his hygienists are so amazing and sweet and do an amazing job at making the kids feel calm and happy. The place is clean and definitely cute as can be! I love how kid-centric the place it. Now here's where we get to the 2 stars and the never returning again - we had an appointment for the 13 month old that I nanny and I guess her mom forgot to fill out the online paperwork. We walk in and immediately the receptionist says in a very rude tone 'what you decided you didn't want to follow directions and fill out the paperwork?' I let her know that the family I nanny for is busy (just had a baby Oct 23rd and also has a 2.5 year old) and she gave me a dirty look and say 'well go call someone because we will not see her until she fills it out' This is understandable; needing the forms... but the way she went about it was COMPLETELY ridiculous. If she had been nice about it then it would have had a completely different outcome, but the way she spoke to me was not okay. The receptionist wasn't only rude and cold to me, but to every one else who entered as well. She never smiled or spoke warmly to people as she came in. It was 'next' 'what are you here for' 'ok go sit down' One lady even got yelled at for attempting to check in using the computer. This place gets 5 stars for a reason!! I love it here! We've taken my 5 year old here for 3 visits now and each and every visit has been wonderful! Staff: The front desk lady(I forgot her name :( ) is extremely friendly and helpful! Always very cheerful and happy everytime we walk through the door. The dental assistants are kind and patient with my son who is not a big fan of brushing teeth. lol My son really enjoys Dr. Hull. Anyone that can make my son laugh and smile is all right in my book!! :) Location: Greenlake is just a wonderful place in general! The clinic is located in the new "Link" Apartment building which has free underground parking available. There is also a pizza & fro yo place located a few stores down! :D Decor/Atmosphere: The clinic is really hip/modern/stylish!! I love the color scheme(browns,blues,turquoise-ish). This place is very new so everything is in tip top shape! They have 2 flat screens in the waiting room where kids can play wii or watch a movie as well as a bunch of toys available. They are stocked with magazines for adults, magazines that I'd actually want to read like People, Parents, Oprah...LOL Oh!!! And I almost forgot to mention that they have this cool thing that they do for kids at the end of their visit. Each kid gets a "coin" which is used to put into a vending machine where they can pick out a toy! (like what they have at a grocery store except way cleaner and more sanitary haha) I love this place! This is the third pediatric dentist we've tried...all of them gorgeous offices, high tech equipment and super kid-friendly amenities. But this is the first one where the dentist was equally friendly, open and informative to BOTH my children and me. What's more, the night before our first appt., Dr. Hull actually called personally to answer any questions I might have in advance. And from the moment we walked through the door we felt incredibly welcome. Every single staff member was warm and friendly...they seemed to want to go above and beyond to treat us well. The rest of the reviews on here pretty much sum it up. For quite a while I'd debated between several dentists in our area. It was pretty much a toss up, until my daughter came home from school with a new dolphin toothbrush and some dental floss. Dr. Troy had come to their preschool and done a presentation. As she was so excited about going to the dentist, I thought it best to keep a good thing going. The entry is warm and welcoming. My daughter was immediately engaged in the toys and flat screen TVs, while I signed all of the paperwork. I also love that they are trying to be super green and have the paperwork electronically - e.g. you flip through a binder with master copies and then sign as you would for a credit card. Next, Lacey, our tech, came out and gave us an office tour. She was really friendly and spoke to both my daughter and me. On our tour, my daughter saw Dr. Troy. She was so excited she ran up to him and wanted to share her toys with him. He was engaging and kind and although right in the middle of something was able to take a moment to say hi and then redirect her. The appointment itself was great. I love how Lacey and Troy both explained what they were doing to G. She wasn't scared at all and was entranced by Dora being played on the flat screen above her head. When she was finished, she got a gold coin and a prize. The only things that were a bit 'different' were the age-appropriate baby talk (it works, but I don't do it) and the fact that we have this awesome, super green dentist but the prizes are all encased in single-use plastic. I know. Totally minor details. We will so be going back with big cavity-free smiles on our faces. read more

I have to agree with the other reviewers... this place was fantastic! I have two youngsters (5 and 2.5) and they were both due for a cleaning/visit. After taking them to my own dentist (who I like just fine), I thought that they would have an easier time at a pediatric dentist. The location is very central, in a new building where the Albertson's used to be. I actually discovered it this way, just driving by. Saw the Yelp reviews and decided to make an appointment. The ability to do paperwork online before the visit was super helpful for a FTWM! The office is paperless, which is cool-- if not something that I need to get used to. Getting an email confirmation was also super helpful. They also did the standard confirmation call to the home phone number too. When we arrived for our appointment, the kids instantly found the toys. While I finished the "paperwork" process (basically capturing the electronic signatures I couldn't provide on the web), they played happily. After checking in, the two hygienists took my kids on a tour of the whole office. The office is very well laid out, and extremely modern and stylish. Not that having a modern facility is a necessity, but it's nice to see that Dr. Hull paid attention to details. The exam room was so cool! I had booked my kids' appointments at the same time, and was trying to envision how that would work--would I need to go between two different exam rooms? Nope. The main exam room had 3 chairs, each with a flat screen TV showing DVDs. They had a play area set up for little ones who may need to take a break during their appointments. Both of our hygienists were SO good with our kids! They had goodie bags with each child's name written on them on the chairs, very welcoming. Dr. Troy was great with my kids, and me! He did a good job of telling me ways to help my kids' teeth stay healthy and strong without being condescending, or making me feel like what we were already doing was "wrong." Great demeanor. I am wary of any place that has a handful of 5 star reviews and no other reviews. However, this place is really that good. Pre-visit: I reviewed their informative website and thought it felt like a good fit. They were very helpful for providing info that I needed to figure out how much my insurance would cover. Office: Their office is beautiful/clean/modern. They have the standard waiting room toys, but the best part is that they are totally prepared for that little tag-along sibling. They have a bathroom with changing table (complete with diapers and Diaper Genie), and in the back where the patient chairs are, they have an open play area. I sat and played with my 1 yr old and could still see/hear what was going on with my 3 yr old's cleaning. What was going on with her cleaning? Cars. They just happened to be playing her favorite movie on the flat screen tv over her head. I'm pretty sure she was in dental heaven. And if that wasn't cool enough, she got a dispenser toy after the appointment. What kid doesn't love dispenser toys? Staff: Olga was awesome. Her patience was perfect and she had a great attitude. I'm sure my daughter felt at ease. Dr. Troy was friendly and obviously good with kids. My daughter's appointment went really smoothly. Location: I love it when places have parking. They have 2 hr parking in the garage below the building. Of course, you have to pass Zoe Yogurt on the way to and from the office. Luckily they use some kind of flouride that allows the kids to eat right away. So yeah, my daughter got some froyo for the ride home. read more

Greenlake Kids has been a pretty good experience for my eldest though I have to admit that some members (one in particular) of the hygienist staff often leave me feeling like a pretty horrible parent on the tooth brushing front. For my youngest (5), it had been fine until our most recent visit. We had gotten through all previous visits without any big disruptions though she is one of those kids when anxious, takes a little bit to get comfortable. At her visit prior to this one she was more hesitant than usual, closed her mouth more often, covered her mouth with her hand at one point. But both she and the hygienist made it through and things were fine. Apparently however, notes were left in her file stating she had been hesitant. On this latest visit she did similar - not wanting to open right away, not liking glasses, hopping out of the chair... The hygienist from the get go, seemed to have no patience for the situation. The way she spoke to my daughter bothered me. It was frankly patronizing and with that fake "kind but firm" tone some folks that are tired of dealing with kids can have. "You've got to cooperate..." "I need you to be a big girl..." "If you don't talk to me, we can't do this and we'll have to reschedule." Putting guilt on her because she had other patients... which she didn't by the way (waiting room was empty when we left). When I mentioned we had gotten through previous appointments, she felt it necessary to point out the notes in my daughter's file about her hesitancy at the last appointment. Ok. So you've decided she's a problem child 5 minutes into the appointment? She left the room for a long span of time - presumably to let me work it out with my child. I don't know - she didn't make it clear. Finally came back to see if we'd come to a final decision. My child gave it one more try and then got anxious again and hopped off the table. So she called it and suggested when I reschedule that we do an appointment in a private room and I wait in the lobby... ...implication, I was the problem. I understand it can be hard to be patient with a child when you have a schedule to keep but her tone and demeanor from the get go was condescending and impatient and she simply never gave my daughter a chance to get comfortable - just kept talking at her. Never took a moment to try and make it fun or interesting. Just a lot of pressuring talk and fakeness. To end on a fair note - they do have one rock star hygienist who is phenomenal and our interactions with Dr. Hull and their new dentist have been quick, straightforward, and fine. Overall though wouldn't recommend after this latest experience and we're looking for a new dentist. read more

We are so lucky to have a place like Greenlake Kids Dentistry for our little boy! Dr. Hull is the nicest guy you will ever meet and cares about his patients as if they were his own children. Everyone at this office is awesome! I always feel like my child is in good hands. It's great to be in a place where everyone is happy, laughing and enjoying their day! These guys are seriously the best with kids. My son is incredibly intolerant of most things like this and he went through the whole teeth cleaning, X-rays, etc. perfectly fine. Super rude reception. My family and I used to receive our dental services for our kids here three years back. We moved away from the Seattle area and were hoping to resume treatment here since moving back. My wife and I called on two different occasions to receive some information and make appointments and were unpleasantly surprised by the extremely rude receptionist/scheduling person. We started taking my son here when he turned one yo. The staff, including Dr. Hull, was warm and friendly at this initial visit. With each visit since, the hygienists seem to be getting ruder and more impatient. For example, when my son's mouth started closing during the cleaning, the hygienist said to him, "If you're going to keep closing your mouth, you're going to choke." If you are working with children, scaring them isn't going to get them to cooperate. Another example with a different hygienist, we needed x-rays and there were minimal interactions or directions on where to stand or how to gaze. The hygienist walked ahead of our son after mumbling, "Teach your kid to stand still." If a child isn't told to stand still the first or second time, don't get mad at him the third time you have to retake an x-ray. "Stand here" then turning away doesn't quite cut it with children. I discussed the ongoing rudeness with other parents who take their kids here, and we're concluding that the practice is a victim of its own growth -- ego and arrogance. We are now looking for a new dentist...which is like a trip to the dentist itself! read more

Wow! Dr Hull and team were absolutely amazing. My LO hates getting his teeth looked at and he loved coming here. Jess was so sweet and explained everything and even brushed all his teeth!!! Sure my LO wasn't smiling when she did it but after he gave her a fist bump and we all clapped for him. He was so proud he clapped too. We've been going to Greenlake Kids Dentistry for several years and the care has always been good. The issues we've experienced are with the scheduling. Our last appointment was scheduled over the phone and I confirmed the time with the receptionist several times and even received a reminder call, but when we showed up for our appointment we were told we were not on the schedule. When we rescheduled for a few weeks later, we never received a confirmation call but the receptionist said that she had record of us confirming our appointment over the phone. This was more frustration than what it's worth. There are many good pediatric dentists in Seattle and we will be finding a new one. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr Hull and his staff! Besides the fact that they are all incredibly friendly, gentle, and patient with the kids, the office is kid-centric and very clean and bright. They have a new receptionist who greets you with a smile and who is equally friendly as the rest of the staff. My 6yr old twin boys have been seeing Dr Hull for almost 2 years now and they have no fear whatsoever of getting their teeth cleaned. They still get annoyed with twice daily brushing at home, and voice it with an exaggerated "Ugh!" but I know that if they ever start complaining of a toothache, the staff at Greenlake Kids Dentistry will do their best to get them in to see Dr Hull quickly. Edit: My five star review changed to a one star review. Why? Read below. My 10 year old son had his first cavity after being a patient here for 7 years. The way it was handled was absolutely unnecessary and unprofessional. Sadly, when I started reaching out to friends in the Autism community to discuss our exchange and look into other options, it turned out our experience was not unique. After his examination and review of his x-rays, Dr. Hull quickly handed us off to a dental hygienist we had worked with on and off for years and left. Over time, this specific professional became less patient though my son was always a happy & willing participant and loved going to the dentist. The minute she started to discuss what the procedure would be like, her tone & demeanor was defensive. I had my daughter on my hip, my son next to me and felt like I was thrusted into a confrontation I wasn't prepared for. I was surprised when I was told in order for them to perform the filling it would be basically required that he have Nitrous Oxide. Knowing that I had it notated on our charts years prior that my son was not a candidate for it because of a gene mutation, she began to explain why it just simply wasn't an option to do it without and that I was putting staff and my son at a detriment if I attempted to do so. She suggested I did not tell my son he would be receiving shots to numb. When I attempted to explain that 1. My son would actually be more terrified of a mask than he would be without and 2. My son had a very traumatic ER experience with needles and needed to be prepared and give consent for that to happen she got agitated with me and attempted to explain to him in vague terms what was going to happen. She rolled a small glass vial on his hand and said that they would use that numb him and then painted onto his fingernail a hardening agent using a light to set it (this is literally how much information I also had about what she was doing). Staff is well aware my son has sensory sensitivities and to very quickly explain all this, take his hand and put it on there without his permission was off and did not set the tone of respect moving forward. She then was annoyed that he asked to have the smiley face removed from his nail. I explained multiple times that I would discuss with our doctor what her recommendation is and was basically told my options are: He can have Nitrous Oxide, I subject my son to a horrible experience by denying it or find somewhere else likely where he had to be fully sedated. I left feeling like I was backed into a corner with zero actual medical advice to base my decision off of. The happy ending is, we connected with another dentist who agreed with our concerns and DOES NOT GIVE NITROUS TO PATIENTS WITH THIS GENE MUTATION. He reviewed the x-rays taken at GKD and determined my son actually wouldn't even need local anesthetic because of the placement of the cavity. The whole procedure took less than 15 minutes start to finish. My son sat perfectly still (as predicted) and it was a pleasant experience (and a big relief) for all of us. Greenlake Kids Dentistry, while you may not care very much that you've lost 2 patients who you had a long standing relationship with, know your reputation in the special needs community is negative and families are referring to other local dentists who apply a whole patient approach. Please listen to parents, to children and consider other options to meet their individual needs. Please don't suggest unnecessary medications with potential risks to patients as a standard of care without due diligence. If it is out of your wheelhouse of ability, be transparent. Reviewing the chart notes provided, there was zero indicator that this level of intervention was warranted for him. Please, consider updating sensitivity training for your staff about how to work with families. When in doubt discuss the risks vs benefits with families yourself, as a dentist and a professional. This was such an unnecessary stress in our lives and not at all how it should have happened. ******************************************************************************************** Today, Dr. Hull and his team earn 5 stars from our family. The office is fantastic, but most importantly, Dr. Hull is that perfect combo of professional, laid-back, respectful and thorough. We never felt rushed and we sincerely trusted him with our 3 year old son. I wish as a child I would have had such an amazing experience, as it would have changed my view of dental care throughout my life. Our family moved to Seattle recently. It happened to be the same time as our son's two and a half year check up. I decided to look for a Children's Dentist that would be relatively close to our new home. After reading almost every review I could find, I started calling around. For some reason I find that many dentists have the worst receptionists. I couldn't get through to anyone. Greenlake Kid's Dentistry was a little out of the way but I decided to give them a call. They were very pleasant on the phone and I made an appointment. When we arrived I couldn't help notice how clean and modern everything was. The bathroom was immaculate and even the toys in the play area were super clean. My son played in plain view as I used a computer to enter all out information. (Which can be done on-line as well) We toured the facility before sitting down for his cleaning. They really know how to capture children's attention with animals to flat screens on the ceilings with movies. Our son was an angel through the whole experience. The friendly, professional and clean experience makes Greenlake Kids Dentistry worth the extra distance. read more

The worst dental experience I've ever had. At first things were good (the dental hygienists are great) but when having a filling they will not allow parents into the room. You can look through a small window in the door. I felt that my son would do much better with me in the room but they said research showed differently. So I agreed which was a huge mistake. Things started OK and my 5 1/2 year old was great with the numbing shot (by the way this wasn't his first filling). Then when Dr. Hull came in things went down hill. My son had some sinus congestion from seasonal allergies and the dental dam was making it hard for him to breathe so they had to cut a hole in it. They didn't check to see if the numbing agent had worked and started to drill and he started screaming and crying. I was knocking on the door by then realizing what was happening because often I take extra numbing agent when getting a filling but they ignored me. Finally, they let me in and gave him another shot ( I heard Dr. Hull say 'That's the second one today who needed extra' - My thought was geez then maybe you should check to see if they are numb before you start like my old dentist used to do) Anyway, by then my son's sinuses had totally filled up because he had been crying and he was having major trouble breathing even though he was no longer crying so when they started to try to drill again he just broke down and kept crying and screaming that he couldn't breathe. At this point Dr. Hull stopped drilling but when my son couldn't stop crying as fast as he wanted - maybe another 20 seconds went by -Dr. Hull GRABBED HIM BY THE SHOULDERS AND SHOOK HIM UP AND DOWN AND SAID "HEY BUDDY, PULL IT TOGETHER!" It was so wrong. After that he just left the room and had them put a sealant on the tooth without talking to me or my son about what was going on. We were told by the hygienist. I urge you to find another dentist for your kids. Dr. Gabriel Malouf at Integrative Dentistry is amazing and very patient and kind. We've had nothing but wonderful experiences since we switched to them. read more

I would highly recommend this practice. We went today for the 1st time. Everything was easy and great from the scheduling to the paperwork to the actual dental care. And the office is perfect for kids. I brought all 3 of my kids at once. I was expecting a nightmare experience but we all actually had a good time. All of the staff was really helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. And Dr. Hull was very friendly, intelligent, calm and open for questions. Added bonus was that parking was really easy and free. I found this place while walking by- after reading the Yelp reviews I booked an appointment for my 3 year old son. I am so relieved that we now have a great pediatric dentist! Our first experience elsewhere was not a good one and I was worried- my son is a 'once bitten, twice shy' kid. He loves it here! Thankfully, he didn't even notice the flat screen TV above him or we may never have left. As everyone else has said, the office is laid out beautifully and definitely kid-friendly, very high-tech (which my son loved!) and the staff, from the receptionist to the techs to the doctor himself, were comforting and awesome. My son ended up having some dental issues so we'll need to visit every three months and I don't think he's going to mind a bit! Afterwards, grab a coffee from Revolutions up the street and walk over to the playground at Greenlake Park. It's a great way to spend a morning! read more

I started taking my two girls here (ages 5 and 9) just after it opened a little over a year ago. They love the dentist! This is NOT the dentist experience I had as a kid. Dr Troy and his staff do a great job with the kids, making it feel like a fun experience. What with the sunglasses, video monitors, prizes, and "goody bags" full of dental supplies, what's not to like. This all may change if one of them develops a cavity... ;-) The office itself is super roomy, modern, bright and clean. I was blown away by Greenlake Kids Dentistry. The office is amazing and so inviting to little ones. The exam room is bright and colorful with toys, little gift bags with their names on them, TVs above each chair showing cartoons, and multiple chairs for moms bringing more than one child at a time. There is a special gumball style machine with trinkets when kids leave and so much more. What a different experience this office was for us. My daughter could have stayed there all day. My son was exhausted so he just played with the toys in the exam room while he waited and then the doctor did such a great job making him at ease. I'm so impressed with the office and the staff. And how GENIUS is their candy buy-back program for Halloween candy. I love you Greenlake Kids Dentistry! read more

The dentist is fine, not great but fine, the rest of the staff is very out of touch with being a parent and insensitive to kids. We were running 5-10 minutes late, as parents with kids in tow often do, and call to let them know, the response was, "We can't accept any reasons or excuses because we try to stick to a schedule. If you can't make it within ten minutes of your appointment, we need to mark it as a no show and charge you for the appointment." I challenge ONE parent who hasn't run late for a kid's appointment. I understand trying to stay on schedule to be respectful to everyone, but be more understanding. My daughter has been coming to this office for almost 2 years now and she loves it! From the moment you walk in, with a warm welcoming from the front, to the back where the assistants really take the time to care for your children properly. We just took our 1 yr old son and 3 year old daughter in for their first dental visits. I was so impressed with the office, the staff and the doctor. They were total pros and made both kids so comfortable. My daughter let them brush, floss and polish her teeth like it was no big deal all while being able to watch an episode of Dora. Let me start by saying I NEVER write reviews but I often read them. I am a mother of three girls (10, 7 & 3) and we have been to at least 3 other dentists and Dr Hull is by far the best. He is very patient and kind (my middle child has (had) a large fear when it comes to dental work) - he knows how to talk to the children (and parents) in a way that works makes everyone feel at ease. My children love going there and every time we drive by they ask when they get to go back. His staff is friendly, the office is fun and very clean. My only regret is that we didn't find him 8 years ago! read more

We have been going to see Dr. Hull and his amazing staff (including his cute dog, Clover) for about two years. Another dentist recommended Greenlake Kids Dentistry after my younger son had a pretty traumatic experience at his previous pediatric dentist. He still had some minor cavities (as luck would have it, he's the conscientious brusher of my two kids) but he was really upset and did not want to go to the dentist. From that first visit until now, Dr. Hull and his staff have just been incredible. He looked at our previous xrays, took some of his own and stated that the remaining issues were small enough that they could be watched carefully and that he wanted to make sure both of my boys felt comfortable coming to the his office. We came in more frequently for my younger son to keep an eye on things and used a special fluoride treatment every three months. Both boys warmed up to the office immediately. They feel like they are going there to play almost--they get to watch favorite movies while their teeth get cleaned and they actually get excited when a dental appointment is coming up. Two weeks ago, we had an appointment for a filling. One of the small cavities had continued to slowly grow, and Dr. Hull decided it was time to treat it before additional issues arose. It was like night and day from his prior bad experience. Special kudos to Angie and Dawn, who did fantastic work and made sure my son was comfortable and happy throughout the procedure. Dr. Hull and his team did a great job and my son was smiling and happy before, during and after. Getting a tooth filled is not high on anyone's list of favorite things to do, and Dr. Hull tried all of the available options before it became necessary--but honestly, if it has to get done, Greenlake Kids Dentistry is the place to do it! I am hoping that we can just have "normal" clean-ups and check-ups going forward--but in any case, our whole family feels like we are in great hands with Dr. Hull and everyone at Greenlake Kids Dentistry. read more
