Took my little in for his first dentist app in July. He's 2 and was a bit apprehensive about the new place/crying kids. Every member of the staff that we interacted with was kind, patient, and supportive of him. The dentist even "checked" the teddy bear's teeth that came with us! At the end of the visit we were given a token to go get a prize out of a gumball machine (after they checked with us that he was out of his "putting random things in my mouth" phase, and the check was done quietly) Staff was also masked up the whole time. read more

Brought my 10-month old son here for his first appointment (he has 10 teeth!), and everyone was very warm and welcoming. They have a great toddler play area, and a photo booth to take a picture with your kid! I appreciated the time they spent to play and interact with my son, and their explanations/wisdom about thumb sucking - and that it isn't something you can do anything about or worry about when they're super young. Dr Lin is kind, professional and honest. He interacts well with my kids, and the whole experience has been wonderful. I rarely write reviews. Since I joined yelp several years ago, I have only reviewed a few times. What motivated me to do this for Dr Lin's practice is how he treats his clients with sincerity and compassion. Today I came in with my kids without knowing our dental insurance is not ppo but hmo. It's my fault for not checking carefully with the insurance company and Dr Lin's dental practice. I usually call my insurance to make sure the doctor is within network. Somehow I forgot to do so this time. Both of my kids had dental checkups, x-rays and had some cavities filled. However, when we were on our way out, I was told by the front desk that my dental insurance was hmo, which would not cover us! My previous experience with dentists and cavity fillings made me believe this visit would incur at least a thousand dollars, considering fillings are expensive and we had three cavities filled. I was shocked and deeply worried. Dr. Lin came out and learned our issue and immediately offered help. The whole incident turned out to fine. When I finally had courage to ask how much the bill would be, it was significantly less than I had thought. After discount, it was manageable or even comparable to the out of pocket payment at a pediatric dentistry within our insurance coverage, since other practices charged more. The insurance thing is just a joke. The whole health care system is broken. At least we have doctors as Dr Lin who bills reasonably and understands us. Since we had our kids, we have horrible experience with how doctors and hospitals bill aggressively without morality. I highly recommend Dr Lin and his whole group. read more

We had our first visit to Dr. Lin's office this past week, and what an amazing experience! I had taken my son to another dental practice, and he scream/cried the whole time, so I was anticipating a similar reaction. Instead, he was in awe of the office, the staff, the amenities and the experience. He has already asked me to go back again! Staff: Friendly and great with kids. They all came out to the waiting room to meet my son, gave him his own iPad that he could play games on throughout the whole experience (of course, they checked with me first) and took him on a special tour of the facilities. All the staff we met have multiple children of their own, so they were patient, understanding and engaging with my son. They took the time to show him how the equipment worked so it wouldn't scare him, and talk him through everything they would do. He obediently opened his mouth (without screaming or crying at all), and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the experience. Atmosphere: Clean, modern, inviting. Dr. Lin told me he designed the whole practice himself, and it's clear that it was done with kids and parents in mind! There's coffee/tea/water available for parents in the waiting room while you fill out forms on an iPad, there is plenty of comfortable seating, and the kids area is tidy and colorful. One of the rooms he showed us has a projector where kids can watch a show while getting procedures done (Dr. Lin showed us the room on our tour, and my son got to watch Thomas for a few minutes from the dental chair). The main room is bright, open and cheerful. There are no wires exposed, and the overhead examination lights aren't imposing - I think those things can scare kids and make them feel intimidated. It's clear Dr. Lin has done his research and made everything kid-friendly down to the last detail. Customer Service: I keep telling friends it was like going to a dental theme park. Seriously. Everything planned, and truly delightful. My son got to play on the iPad during the exam, then he got a little toothbrush pack with flossers, then he got a token to get prizes from a cute vending machine, then we got to take photo booth photos, and bring them home to commemorate the trip. He was thrilled! Then, the day after our first appointment, I got a "Happy Mother's Day" card in the mail from Dr. Lin with a Starbucks gift card! Like the other reviews said, Dr Lin has the magic in gaining kids' trust. My 2 year old climbed up the chair himself within 2 minutes after dr Lin showed up. The space is well designed to get their curiosity up and explore. But most of all, everyone at this dentistry are experienced and well-prepared to get the job done, and in a quite efficient way. Yes, the kiddo cried super hard when they did the cleaning. But they paced the process so well that each step is no more than a minute, and he gets time to calm down and play a bit in between. My son seemed to be in a cheerful spirit after the appointment, which is a good sign for future cleaning. read more

Dr. Lin and his staff were wonderfully responsive and attentive when my son suffered a fall and loosened a front, permanent tooth. I was not able to get a hold of our usual dentist (the office was closed), but thankfully Dr. Lin and his staff were able to get us in right away on a Friday afternoon. Everyone was warm and personable and took the time to diagnose the problem, treat it, and make sure that me and my son knew what to do going forward to save that tooth. Dr. Lin and his staff are the real deal, folks. Just got back from our 4th check-up visit with him (for my 3.5 year old daughter). She gets anxious at doctor/dentist's offices and sometimes doesn't react well. This happened again today. But, the staff are so patient and friendly and let me know that this is not uncommon at her age. After all her crying and melting down, once it was over, my daughter really wanted to check out the "x-ray machine" that we saw as we walked in past one of the rooms. Dr. Lin went far out of his way to give her a demonstration of the machine as well as to show us his newest, cool toy (a 3D printer that he uses to make models of teeth). He is incredibly friendly and patient and I felt so grateful for the genuine care he showed my daughter, even after her not-so-great demeanor during the exam. Thank you, Dr. Lin and staff! After moving to the area a few months ago, I scheduled regular cleanings for my two kids (ages 3 & 6) based on Yelp reviews. I am so glad we chose this office! My kids generally enjoy the dentist and this visit had them exclaiming that their new dentist is so "fun" and "awesome!" The receptionist was very kind and helpful from the moment we walked in. We enjoyed conversation and toys in the waiting area while I filled out forms on office iPads (fun and convenient). The kids had their teeth cleaned by two young, engaging hygienists that kept them entertained and comfortable. When the doctor arrived to check their teeth, he couldn't have been more friendly. Multiple times he pulled out his phone to share pictures of his kids with my kids - he has 5 of his own! He explained everything to me clearly and passed on x-rays since he didn't see anything to warrant them (it seems dentists always want new ones no matter what and I appreciated his honesty). The visit finished off with a token to use in the prize machine and a photo booth with the prints used as appointment reminders. We had the best time! A huge thank you to Dr. Lin and his staff. I'm so glad our friend referred us to North Seattle Pediatric Dentistry. I had been dreading and therefore putting off a dentist visit for my kids for long enough and due to a fall that effected my daughters mouth I couldn't put it off any longer. Our friend had such a positive experience I called and booked right away. I'm so glad I did. Dr Lin was thorough, friendly, and so good with the kids. The dental hygienists and staff were equally as engaging and sweet with my children. Their office is beautiful and open and I could be with both my little ones while they got cleanings at the same time. The care was 10/10 for the initial cleanings and just as great for my sons follow-up appointment (he had one little cavity to fill). Before we left after the cleanings, Dr Lin showed my son the room he'd be in for his filling and told him that he could pick a show to watch on the ceiling when he came back for his filling, it was all my son could talk about before his next appointment. Just took my two-year-old daughter here for her first dentist visit, the staff was amazing and so was the dentist. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, they made my daughter feel super comfortable. The atmosphere is also great, very kid friendly! We've taken our two children to Dr. Lin since he opened this practice. He is a WONDERFUL dentist. So personable and absolutely loves children. He talks about his own five children and can really communicate with little people. His staff are so friendly with the kids, too, and really talk to them at their level. The office is state of the art and very modern. They have so many amenities. My three-year-old son had a cavity filled and watched his favorite PBS show projected onto the ceiling above him. At the end of the visit I mentioned that I promised my little guy ice cream, and Dr. Lin offered him some ice cream! They provide ice cream to the kids to prevent them from biting their cheeks after they are numbed for fillings, etc. Not sure how this works, but Dr. Lin said it has been working for them. Dr. Lin and staff was just amazing. I took 2 children there who were absolutely frightened (10 and 8) and now they not only brush and floss better but love going there! Also, I was impressed by the level of care and devotion Dr Lin has towards the little ones making sure the care and treatment is appropriate. Not just go in and drill everything out of their small teeth to get rid of cavity, but most importantly drill as little as possible even if it's much more work so that the most of their natural teeth can be preserved. Most wonderful dentist experience ever. I took my 2 and 4 year old here. They both had to get x-rays and fillings, but still the hardest part is leaving. Fun decor. Never a wait time, and two assistants two help my two children got seen at the same time. They each got I-pads to watch. Secretary offered me water or tea or coffee. There was a viewing room where my 6 mo old could take a nap. The kids got prizes after their exams. They got to watch pbs kids projected onto the ceiling during fillings. They got ice-cream after a filling. There was a fun photo booth to take pictures after each visit if desired. They bathroom was nice with changing table and diaper garbage. I was late to one apt and they were so accommodating. I was really impressed with everything about Dr Lin and his staff and office. All so nice, patient, and fun. read more

Honestly, with my first child, I didn't know what to expect from a pediatric dentist until several problems had occurred for the past 5 years. I feel sorry that we had to go through the trial and error process in finding a skillful dentist. And, I am really happy to finally find Dr. Lin! Dr. Lin has many children of his own, so he knows how kids can be. He is not only very patient with my children; he never makes me feel like he is in a rush, and he always tries his best to answer all my questions. On top of that, he is really skillful in what he does!!! And, I KNOW that because I've been to two other highly reputable pediatric clinics in Seattle (found on Yelp) for the past 5 years. When I was a child, I had lots of cavities, and so I swore to myself that I wouldn't let my kids go through the same pain. I now realized that genetic factor seems to play a big role, and the two things that I can do is to help them to build a good cleaning/preventing habit (floss and brush, avoid constant snacking, set a quota for daily sugar intake, drink water after having sweets, etc.) and to find a good, patient and skillful dentist! read more

Well Dr. Lin and the girls that helped him were great! Very friendly. Great office. So clean and modern. They let my kids watch movies to distract them from fillings. The down fall is that everytime I come in the front desk woman is no where to be found. I've been in 4 times and every time she is eating or taking a personal phone call and playing on her phone. She also seems very annoyed when I ask about my insurance and doesn't know the answers to any of my questions. Which is a first for any dentist office I've been in. Usually they have called before my appointment so they know what I'm covered for. I really like the hygienist and Dr. Lin. But the gal in the front may make me switch offices. I shouldn't have to call my insurance company to find out about my coverage. That is her job. Very disappointed in her. read more

I rarely take the time to post reviews but this place is great and I really want to get their name around so that they can stay open and continue to provide the high level of quality care that they bestowed upon my children. North Seattle Pediatric Dentistry is a new office that popped up about a year ago in my neighborhood (Northgate area). One of my first experiences with them was when they donated 500 dental packets (toothbrush, tooth paste, flossers, + a gift card for a free cleaning) to my son's elementary school (which is couple of blocks up the hill from the office) for the students after they participated in our annual Move-a-Thon fundraiser. I believe this office also sponsored the production of the T-shirts that were given to the students. The generosity and support of the local community really resonated with me and I knew I wanted to give this place my business in return. I took my 7 year old in yesterday for a cleaning. Admittedly, he hasn't been to the dentist in a while, so he wasn't very familiar with standard check-up procedures, and he was somewhat nervous. We arrived late for an early morning appointment (couldn't find our insurance card.. turns out the lovely D.A. at the front desk had already verified our insurance and I didn't need it anyway). The whole staff (Dr. Lin, 2 hygienists or D.A.s, plus the front desk coordinator) all came out to the reception area to greet us with full smiles. I was offered a beverage from their beautiful automated espresso machine (I had a lovely cappuccino that I sweetened with the provided raw sugar), while my son was offered an iPad to play Lego Star Wars on throughout his cleaning. Yeah, seriously. He was stoked. Throughout his check-up, Dr. Lin and the hygienists were extremely patient, thorough, and informative. Dr. Lin gave me a lot of scientific information in an extremely easy-to-understand way, and accurately surmised that the white spots on my son's front permanent teeth were due to high fevers around his first birthday (my son had two febrile seizures between 10 and 17 months old, which Dr. Lin had no way of knowing because I was still filling our the health history while he and I had this discussion). Today, I brought my 3 year old in for his first check up. Oh boy. My younger son is a wonderful, affectionate boy, who can also be an absolute terror when he wants to be, or rather doesn't want something, and he did NOT want to go to the dentist. He was also given an iPad to watch Curious George cartoons (which he LOVES), but was still not interested in getting a check up. Despite Ellie, Katie, Dr. Lin and myself trying to comfort him or distract him, he wasn't having it. He screamed throughout pretty much the entire check-up, which (through some well-practiced teamwork) they were able to knock out in about 15 minutes. Then Dr. Lin and Katie took to reassuring me (because I was absolutely mortified to have my child screaming bloody murder just to lay there with his mouth open watching Curious George, or have his teeth brushed, which he usually LOVES..), that some of their own children have behaved in similar ways, despite their chosen professions. As soon as it was over, my son was all smiles, probably because Ellie gave him a bouncy ball and proceeded to throw it around with him in the hallway for several minutes. They were so patient and amazing, I can't say it enough. After the appointments were done, my sons were given a token to put in a toy dispenser; a dental packet that consisted of a soft-bristle, brand-name, character toothbrush (rather than the generic cheap toothbrushes I've come to expect from Dentists' offices); and were invited to take photo-booth style pictures. We were given a copy of the photo print out with our next appointment written on the back, and they retained one copy for the kids' scrapbooks. The office is beautifully appointed; a mixture of modern white decor with primary colors--perfect for children. They utilize technology to offer a paperless and sustainable system (during my older son's appointment, I completed all medical history questionnaires for both of my children on the provided iPad). This place makes me wish I had more children, just so I could go there more often. I would usually point out the accomplishments of a single staff member who stood out, but there's no point because each and every person connected with this business is absolutely amazing and completely dedicated to making dental care an enjoyable experience for children. I cannot say enough good things about this office. Thank you to Dr. Lin and the entire staff- I'll definitely be making sure to keep my kids on a 6 month schedule from now on! I really love this place. My 5 year old daughter had some fear about going to the dentist and was actually shaking the first time we went. Within minutes her fears were calmed. The staff is so friendly and attentive to the kids. They immediately engage the kids while the parents fill out initial paperwork. Dr. Lin is very friendly and goes above and beyond to answer questions and give assessments on their teeth. He is a great educator as well and I feel like I've learned so much more about properly caring for my kids teeth.
