We called Greenlight for a second opinion after another company said our 10 year-old unit (which that same company sold us and said would last 20 years) needed to be replaced. Greenlight assured us that it could be repaired and explained their criteria for recommending a replacement (which our unit did not meet). Unfortunately, there were some issues with the part. The repair technician was thorough, even when he couldn't see a problem at first, he stayed and wanted to actually see what I witnessed prior to his arrival. First and foremost, Greenlight Cooling & Heating is very responsive, honest, prompt and professional. My A/C went out, and after contacting them, Sherri was in contact with me immediately. I was able to chat with her and send pictures of my A/C unit. She set me up with an appointment within 24 hours. Although my appointment was in a 12-3pm window, I asked Sherri if I could be called when the HVAC technician was on his way. I appreciated that she was able to give me a call 30 minutes before the HVAC tech showed up at my condo. This helped me immensely because I didn't have to take any time off of work to sit around and wait in a 3-4 hour period like most companies make you do. Tom was my HVAC tech, and he came on time with a back pack full of equipment. I liked that the technicians have shoe covers as I don't wear shoes in my home, and I didn't have to worry about that with him. Tom talked me through what he was doing when he troubleshot and was able to diagnose and repair my air conditioning unit in the same day. I would highly recommend this company to anyone in the Triangle as they are truly honest people. Without a doubt they are the best HVAC company around. read more

These folks are great! Our upstairs ac unit stopped working all of a sudden. The technician was able to pinpoint the issue (not a problem with the ac unit at all, but a nicked wire in another area of the house that's being renovated). He managed to do a temporary fix for us until our contractors could get an electrician out as well. And he was kind enough to only charge us their diagnostic fee, which was super reasonable considering how much time he spent in our roasting hot attic. We'll definitely use Greenlight in the future. read more

We experienced intermittent AC problems for close to a year after our unit being previously serviced by other companies. GreenLight took on a very challenging repair for us, where extra work was created for them by lazy service from previous companies. Not only did they do a very thorough job fixing our AC over the four months that it took to get the work done, but they kept their promise to identify the root cause of the AC issue, even if it meant doing parts of the work for free. Johnny and the technicians are great to work with -- they always arrive on time and are so pleasant! It was also very easy to work with Sherri from the scheduling end, all follow-up appointments were usually sorted within a few hours, and I didn't have to wait long to schedule. I reviewed these folks about two months ago, but the service I recently received warranted yet another review. Approximately 2 weeks ago there was a lightning strike near our home that fried one of our AC compressors outside. This was on a Sunday. I left a message and first thing Monday heard from Sherri. They were able to send a technician out that afternoon to diagnose the issue. When John arrived, the thing I appreciated most, was that he doesn't go for the 'big money' fix, but the easy fix first. In this case swapping out the capacitor on the unit. When that did not work he looked at some other potential problem areas, and was able to definitely conclude the compressor had a power surge and been fried. He then broke the bad news that it would require total replacement. Within 12 hours he had quoted me, and written up the diagnosis for my insurance company. By Friday they were able to come out and replace the damaged unit and the other unit (since they were already working on things and the previous units were 11 years old and ran on the old R-22, not the new R-410). The install crew did a great job and my family and I were very pleased. They are great to deal with, the price was reasonable, and unlike other companies in the Triangle who claim to be '5' star rated, these folks are the real deal! read more

We had an outdoor gas grill built into our patio 15 years ago. Over time the gas line corroded and had to turn off the gas to our grill. We had others look at the repair and their quotes were way too expensive and time to get to my repair was weeks. When we called Greenlight they were very responsive, demonstrated their expertise on where the leaks were, how they would fix it, and provided a reasonable quote. Our heat stopped working sometime in the last couple days. We hadn't noticed because the weather was good, but then we had one of the bedrooms get as cold as 51 degrees. Greenlight installed a new Bosch heat pump as well as an Aprilaire dehumidifier. What impressed me is that Johnny, the owner, was willing to work with me to see that I received the best solution that fit my budget. There was never any hype or pressure. The installation crew arrived on time and the work was done in a courteous, professional manner. The work was overseen by Johnny himself and when it was completed the cleanup was thorough. We are so very pleased with Greenlight Cooling & Heating, Inc. My husband and I walked into our home on a Friday night and found our air conditioner had stopped working. Our thermostat registered 89 degrees. We knew it was going to be difficult to find a repairman to come out after hours and no less quickly.
