Yelp included this company when I put my project out to bid. Andy, their estimator was great. Seemed to really know his business and I liked his presentation very much. Based on the numerous five star reviews posted here I'm sure I would be quite happy with the work they do. Unfortunately, MTC was the highest bidder (by far) so I really had to go with a more economical choice. Found a small, local company with a great arborist who bid well under 1/2 what MTC was asking. So, if you are price conscious you might want to look at obtaining several quotes. If your prime objective is great service from staff and a great outcome from the crew who does the work, I'm sure you will be happy with these guys. Even though I wound up choosing a different company I felt that anything short of a five star review would be inappropriate since I was totally happy with the treatment I received from everyone working there. read more

Noah and his team are amazing! We live on a large lot with trees everywhere, and several fell after a recent winter storm. After my husband left a message, Noah got back in touch with us promptly, and made a date for today. Not only did he and his team do what we asked, they took care of a couple of cleanup tasks that we weren't expecting. Our trees and property were treated with care, and all the workers were friendly and professional. Also, everyone was masked, which we really appreciated. They removed quite a bit from our lot and now, I smile every time I look outside. The amount charged was very reasonable, considering how much work the team did. Superb arborists - knowledgeable, efficient, affable, and with a fair price for the work involved. There were multiple tasks: removing a tall and prickly Cryptomeria (a shame), thinning a Japanese maple, pruning a hawthorn, pruning a very tall and leaning aspen, removing large pine branches from the neighbor's leaning pine trees, and removing two tall willows. Of the four arborist companies have used in the past, this fifth company is the only one I would recommend and hire again. Although the job was delayed twice (mechanical difficulties with their truck and an ill arborist), they were worth the wait. Mossy Tree care is not all about cutting down trees (unlike some companies), they make suggestions on how to prune trees to keep them. After reading reviews of various tree servicing companies I decided on Mossy Tree Care. We had a relatively small job incorporating two small (less than 50 feet) firs that needed to be removed and two more larger ones that were in serious need of trimming. Once I submitted my request for a quote through job completion I was kept informed by Stacey. Every step of the way and always in a timely fashion. Their arborist Andy came out and listened to what I had in mind, surveyed my property front and back, and made suggestions. I had a quote in short order which I felt was a very fair price, especially if I were to receive the level of service to which previous reviews suggested. I wasn't disappointed. Once I contacted Stacey with my selections she put us on the schedule much sooner than I anticipated. They sent a three-man crew including Andy, Noah, and Justin. They were on time, friendly, considerate, efficient, and professional. These guys were great! They arrived early and got all of our tasks done fast and were very thoughtful. We had another arborist tree team come years ago and just weren't happy with they way they didn't thin out the canopies on our trees. That team was cheaper but the saying is true, you get what you pay for. We had such a wonderful experience with the team. They left the yard tidy and even got rid of some old debris for us. We couldn't have been happier! We hired them for the ice storm damage plus regular trim and stump grinding but we'll have them come out regularly now. Thanks y'all! read more

Mossy Tree took care of our back yard maple tree that was damaged in the February storm and then when they were going to leave we (last minute) inquired about our Japanese maple in the front yard. Could they shape it up some and make it look less bushy? Well sure! they fit that job in too and at a really great rate! There were five guys and they were so good working together, it was like watching a well oiled machine or some kind of choreographed dance that results in trees looking just gorgeous! I have purposely waited several weeks to write this review. I'm going to give Mossy the benefit of the doubt and rate them four stars, even though I originally wanted to rate them much lower. I'm still not sure they deserve four stars, since I won't see the supposed benefit of their work for several years. We moved into a home in October, in a neighborhood with tree lined streets. The neighborhood is about 12+ years old and it didn't appear that the previous two owners had ever taken care of the trees. We went with Mossy because they were the mid priced of the quotes we received and they had similar reviews of the other companies we contacted. Our front trees were constantly getting broken limbs from the city garbage trucks and oversized vehicles. Many of the trees in the neighborhood, including ours, were not meeting the city height codes. We also had lots of small, dead branches we wanted removed as well as some branches that crossed other branches. Our goal was to remove the dead branches, and any branches that would pose a problem in the future, trim up to meet city codes, and keep as much of the privacy that they provided as possible. The arborist who came out was very nice, and said that if we didn't do some major pruning that we would need to do it in a few years. I went ahead and agreed, not realizing that he was going to take off so much of each tree. Not only did we lose all our privacy from our neighbors, but none of the dead was removed from the top half of any of the trees, nor were any cross branches removed. In fact, I had to prune off dead branches that were left behind on the lower half as well. trees look lop sided, top heavy, and stand out from the rest of the neighborhood. So, it may well be that this was the best thing to do for the future of the trees, but right now I just feel like I paid a lot of money for a really bad haircut. Update: The owner emailed me last year to see if he could make things right. I said that I would need to think about it and get back to him. Now, a year later, I finally emailed him to see if he would still try to make it right. He absolutely did. His crew came out and listened to my issues. They cleared out all the dead in our 5 ash trees, plus they removed some sickly branches and suckers that had started after last years trimming. The guys were awesome and our trees look so much better! They did all of it free of charge since it was work we had wanted done last year. We will continue to use Mossy for our tree maintenance in the future. Any company that works that hard to make things right deserves our business. read more

These guys are awesome. The have 2 knowledgable arborists who couldn't have been more helpful, and the team was considerate, smart and hard working. We had them in our mini-forest for the "full-day package" and it just feels like the trees got a much needed lift (and I got lots of tips along the way). Andy, Noah and crew were running a little late ,so they texted and kept me informed, which is huge to me, because I've been stood up by so many contractors of late. They came and we did a quick walk through of what to was to be pruned and they went to work. I was told they would show up for an estimate earlier after noon, and they never showed up or even called. I called, no one answered. I left a message, no one ever called me back. Noah did the quote, and was good to talk to. A crew of three showed up on the appointed day, took down two 60' dying pine trees close to the house, and trimmed one liquidambar that was reaching over the roof. It was 6 hours of work and they made no mistakes. There were several sprinkler heads right next to the trees, which they were careful to avoid damaging. They chipped the wood and hauled it all away. These folks were fantastic! I sent a bunch of requests for bid out on a sweet gum tree project I had and they were the first to get back to me. Also they came out to look at and bid the project for free. I really wish I would remember his name because he was very knowledgeable, professional,and very friendly. Very happy with Mossy Tree Service. Our Sweet Gum trees lost a large limb and caused some house damage. Andy was very prompt in showing up to inspect the situation and knowledgeable on how to prune these trees to prevent further limb loss. These guys did a great job falling a 50 year old tree for us. Everything was done safely and all the clean up was completed as we agreed. I was really impressed with the falling skills so I asked them back to trim up a long row of aging and neglected fruit trees. Andy is the BEST! We got estimates from a lot of tree guys, and Andy was the one who combined thorough knowledge and concern about the health of our trees, AND a very competitive price for the work. We had two trees removed and they took care to protect the other plant life in the yard. He was super nice through the process, a joy to work with.
