I was lucky enough to be able to schedule my tree job with Joe Grab's tree service company at the same time as my neighbor. This helped us save money on the initial assessment and being able to clean up both sides at the same time was helpful for everyone. The 1st day I had an amazing team I called the climber and the carrier. Both of these gentlemen were not only highly efficient but totally thorough, knowledgeable and professional about everything they did. I actually have to admit my backyard is getting sunshine for the first time, and it's so uplifting. The second day I had the same climber, but a different carrier, and I was nervous that it would not be as good as the first day. Not only did they meet all my expectations, but at the end of the day, every carrier and climber were in the backyard, picking up the final branches, right down to the tiniest of twigs. It's almost embarrassing that my backyard has never looked cleaner than it does today. I had 3 estimates and cutting plans developed with 3 different companies before Joe Grab came into our lives. They were kind enough to review the prior plans and assured me that they too were going to follow similar plans of cutting hangers and deadwood, and thin out so that there are not problems in the future, for much less money. I can't even guesstimate how many pounds of material they took out of here, but I'm sure it ran in the thousands. I am sure glad we used Joe Grab Tree service to remove a very large Douglas Fir on our property. Joe and his crew used a crane and lifted the entire tree section by section until it was completely removed. They then did a thorough cleanup above and beyond what other companies have done for me in the past. I called 2 of the top 5 tree service companies on Yelp. When I was thinking which one to call next, Courtney from "Joe Grab" called me because I filled out a form online the night before. Joe was the second one I met on that day. It was an easy job but both of the top 5 companies I called gave me an extremely expensive quote. Maybe it is because they are big companies and have been around for a long time. When they entered my backyard, first thing they said was my other trees need maintenance too. First company didn't come clean with me and he tried to charge me for lots of things. The guy from the third company didn't even bring any paperwork. He just walked around and gave me a quote then left. The tree was dead and he tried to charge me $100 for a license. He was like don't believe it? Google it. I said dead trees like this don't need a license and I googled it the night before, plus I already received a notice from the city. Then he smiled awkwardly and said "oh that's great! You just saved yourself $100!" In comparison to those two companies, Joe was very open about this project. He gave me options to lower the cost and straight up said that they could cut the tree into small pieces for us to give them away for free. Both top 5 companies didn't give me this option. Joe's quote was also reasonable. His quote paper may not look as fancy as others, but he's legit (licensed, insured and bonded). I saw some bad reviews about Joe and was a bit worried at first. I wasn't home when they came to remove the tree. But according to my dad, they did a very good job and I saw pics. I recommend this company. read more

I was searching for bids for a relatively short tree removal. I had some outrageous bids. $1800, $2000. Justin from Joes came for his estimate appointment gave me good information and a bid of $900. Once I pulled the permit they got me on the books and the guys removed my dead maple in 2 hours. All the branches were chipped and hauled away. I could hardly find a loose twig in my yard. After signing the contract, they called a week later to schedule and said the crew would arrive in 2 hours. Very short notice to coordinate with a neighbor involved. They called an hour later and changed the arrival time. They said 'we can't have crews standing around' and cancelled the job. I have never seen this lack of scheduling ability with a professional contractor. When this area had the "Great Ice Storm of 2024", I called about 8 tree removal services. Many had very high quotes, and couldn't tell me when they could come due to many fallen large trees. We had a rather large tree die on the edge of our property and had to take it down. When we were having that quoted I also included another smaller tree removal, two more trees trimmed up, and 2 large camellias. The quote was reasonable, but the work EXCEPTIONAL! The crew of 3 had everything down, cleaned up and perfect---including sweeping up the street, promptly. All during the process they would ask me for my input, if there was anything more I wanted done. They were so easy to work with and hard working! Even in the heat! Removal of several Leyland Cypress trees. All about 55' plus and the two larger ones an easy 24" plus in diameter. The three man team worked their butts off (Sean, Greg and Sam) all day on this one. The one on the right was the last to fall in the video and was back half "loaded" so real risk of cross property damage. They fell each tree within inches of one another. I can't say enough what a great job Joe Grab did trimming my trees! I have very tall (over 100 foot) maples--some of which did not survive the heat waves over the last few years, and needed topping. My parent's needed a very large tree cut down so I went onto Craigslist to find them someone who would not charge them an arm and a leg. I found 2 companies. My mom made an appraisal appointment with the first, and told them she'd use their services - but after Joe Grab came out to do an appraisal, she changed her mind. She said she just had a better feeling about him. A month later, their huge cottonwood tree was gone and Joe Grab's men had come out twice to dig out and remove the ginormous stump. She was thrilled with the price and their service. Now it was my turn. I needed a large tree (that hangs over my yard) trimmed back and finally thought to do it because Joe Grab came so highly recommended by my parents. Joe Grab's 3 tree trimmers just left my house...and took with them numerous branches that were blocking any sunlight from hitting my back deck. For $300, I was finally going to be able to get sunshine for me and my plants! I took a vacation day, to be here when they worked on the tree, because Joe really wanted me to be happy and did not want his guys taking too little or too much off the tree. I probably would have taken a little more off the canopy that covers my yard, but a renter in the apartments behind me started yelling at us (from her balcony) for taking all her "Natural air-conditioning". I get that, and I want to be sensitive to that, so I didn't have them cut quite as much as I'd have liked. The tree climber explained to the gal "The law allows her to cut what is above her property line" but she was fit-to-be-tied. Mostly, I think it's a privacy thing for her. Again, I get that, I want privacy too. But 13 years ago; 12.5 years before she moved in, I had a deck built and got sunshine for 4-5 hours a day. My plants thrived. Now, the maple tree has grown so large, it covers my entire yard, shading the whole thing and does not allow for any plants or vegetation to grow. Or for me to get a tan. All that said, I will probably hire them back next year, to take off the final top canopy that hovers over the deck. Hopefully that renter has moved on (no pun intended) by then. For now though, I think they've given me a few more hours of sunshine a day back there. Not only were they on time, by the minute, but they worked fast and efficiently. They also completely took away all the branches and debris (chipped it in their machine) and cleaned up my yard, as though they were never there. Joe came out and gave me an estimate same day. Called their office to schedule. The gal that answers the phone has some memory issues, or just doesn't care about customers. I called to schedule. She was on her way to work and told me she would call me when she arrived. She NEVER called me. I called her and she scheduled me for one week out. Tomorrow to be exact, Thursday the 30th. I had not heard from anyone about what time they will be out there, so I called this morning. She had no idea and said she would have to talk with Joe. It appears there is no communication as she had no idea who they were sending out, or how many. She was sure she would talk with him, and said if I didn't hear back by 2:00 I would call as I need to put this on my office calendar to reflect I am not available. 2:10 had not heard back from anyone so I called. She had no idea who I was, and when I reminded her she said she had not talked with Joe. I was not happy and told her how do they schedule a person one week out and not know what time they will be there, or if they will show up. Her response was they will be there either in the morning, or afternoon. I said "well of course" and maybe I should go with another company. She said "Okay well have a nice day!"
