Once you make a purchase from the beer that they have available you then pick it up on Saturday since that is the only day they are open for pick up. Since this was a brief interaction with the staff there I still left with a good impression of them as they were super friendly and efficient with completing the transaction. The two beers I bought were Double Oatmeal Stouts. Wow, and were they thick enough to eat but so delicious to drink! I got the beer called Treats and the other called Snaks. Treats has more of an emphasis with vanilla while Snaks has an emphasis for Chocolate. Both as I said were very good and I'd love to explore more of their beers in the future. Hopefully after the covid pandemic is over they will open their own taproom!

Thankfully, they don't want to leave you standing in line, so they sell their beer through pre-order. So, they're kinda new. They will grow for sure, and this part of the description will fade into obsolescence. Right now, the owner brews, and gets help from one person for the one day a week the public can stop in to buy cans. It's tiny...it's probably under 40 hours of work a week, combined, for everybody. They're small. It's a couple of rooms down the alley from Greenwood Ave at 74th. They're in the daylight basement of a commercial building, virtually without parking. They have beer aging in barrels somewhere, and a brew system you could probably fit entirely into a good-sized pickup truck. None of that stainless-steel forest effect in their facility--it's not some sci-fi national park like a big industrial brewery. It's closer to being like someone's kitchen, where somebody with a particular set of ideas about beer can try them out and perfect them. They're limited. A beer system that could fit in a pickup will make less than a pickup-truck load of cans per week. They usually release I think about 8-10 cases of 16-oz cans on Saturdays, with some weeks off. They're great. They've started adding imperial stouts to the madness this spring, but most weeks have been juicy IPAs with I think a pilsner at one point. It's all stuff most serious beer drinkers love. Big flavors, very clearly defined, with clean and dynamic profiles. You pay through their webshop and pick up your order in the alley off the alley off of Greenwood. They're the nicest people, and the brewer for sure knows what's up.

There are several beers and some ciders on tap from all around and all the ipa's I've tried here have been pretty decent. from there you grab your brew and have a seat at high top tables within the tap room. Again, the setting is mid-sized good for a couple groups of four and a few two person tables. Music is at a decent volume and is lit dimly making it decent for a date spot or just a place to have conversation without raised voices. Fridges line the tap room so you can mix and match beers, ciders and wines to take out which is cool. I like Bottleworks, I want to enjoy it more, but there are some issues holding me to 3 stars. The staff are...alright. Not bad, but I feel could be a little friendlier. Also they don't allow sample pours? This is a common thing at most breweries, but maybe it's because this is a tap room, but beers run a bit higher here - $8-9 a pour so that's annoying that you can't even try a couple. Lastly, they rotate things out it seems weekly. Some of the more popular options I suppose they keep but seems like a lot of turn around on the drinks so if you like something they have on tap, don't get too attached. Perhaps on subsequent visits It will improve, and I can boost the score here, but besides the decent beers and setting, it's just OK here.

One of the best bottle shops in the country!…read more I've had many of Bottleworks' anniversary beers in the past because they always team up with stellar breweries to make them.. but before today I have never visited the famous shop. It's smaller than I imagined it to be but every beer inside, from the draft list to the cans and the bottles are carefully curated by the staff. We grabbed a quick beer (Hill Farmstead, which is the first time I've seen this brewery for sale in the since I started this trip 6 weeks ago and Ive been through 4 states) Then we shopped for some cans, we quickly had to refrain from buying too much as the refrigerator in our van only holds so much. We ended up with a six pack and then grabbed a mystery 4 pack on the way out (mystery 4 pack was stellar). While we're shopping they opened a sour from Jester King and shared it with us. I honestly wish I lived a bit closer (Las Vegas is kinda far) because I'd be here everyday... Honestly, they have a whole cooler just for barley wine! The staff are very knowledgeable about beer and are very hospitable. Thanks for a great experience!

I appreciate the accuracy of this because as of late when researching with other businesses' websites on this type of situation the other businesses that a company may direct you to get their product is outdated so kudos for being up to date there. I have to say the Kombucha I got was very refreshing on the hot summer day we were encountering. I liked the tea aspects to this as is the norm with any Kombucha and this particular one I enjoyed experiencing it in the flavor profile. The Kombucha I got does have alcohol in it but not as much compared to some beers and other alcoholic beverages. I'd love to try out other flavors that they may have available with CommuniTea!

Earlier today I got a pleasant surprise when my guy stopped by my work and handed me a 17oz bottle (I believe they also have bigger ones) of their super tasty beverage. He usually avoids Kombucha but loved this one, so... this is a good sign! Extra cool: Their bottles are re-usable! You pay a deposit fee when buying, and when you return with an empty one you get a refund.... or, I'm sure, you could just get another one ;) Info from the bottle: "Made in and for the Puget Sound region." "Green tea fermented by a culture lovingly handed down for generations." "A health-giving, naturally effervescent soft drink for the 21st century." And the EVER so difficult and long ingredient list: Filtered water, organic evaporated cane juice, green tea. It sounds like they do at least the: U-District Saturday Market (in the "off season") Columbia City Farmers Market Ballard Sunday Market Ahhhh. I love my Kombucha!

Its Garryana Edition 8 was ranked #3 in Whiskey Advocate's list of 'Most Exciting Whiskey's of 2023'. My wife and I had a chance to visit SODO on a gorgeous October day, and even though we couldn't take their sold-out distillery tour ($25 per adult), still had a wonderful time sampling their wares and enjoying the educational interaction with their whiskey enthusiasts/employees. Westland got acquired by Remy-Cointreau [French company; 3rd largest cognac distiller in the world; created as union between Remy-Martin (founded in 1724) and Cointreau (1849)]. It's MO is to use ingredients from the Pacific Northwest (barley, water, peat), and with its similar cool maritime climate, produce Scotch-like whiskeys (only whiskey from Scotland can be called Scotch, though Scotch doesn't have to be ONLY malted barley). American single malt is now an official US legal classification (since Jan 19, 2025). 'Single' refers to one distillery producing the bottle, and 'Malt' meaning it only uses malted barley as its grain. (The most popular American whiskey is bourbon, mostly made of corn and aged similarly). BG and Trista were our whiskey guides, both knowledgeable and friendly. The lounge had a variety of seating, designed for easy conversation and sipping. A whiskey flight ($13.60, $10 off with purchase) consists of 4 choices (out of 8 offered), so we shared two flights to get the full effect. Getting nibbling snacks [La Panzanella crackers ($5) with Beecher's cheese curds ($12)] that went well with the whiskeys, was a smart choice. Flagship (92 proof) Beer Cast (92) Wine Cast (92) Coleve 4 (100) Garryana 9 (100) Garryana 7 (100) 7862 (106.6) Solum 3 (100) To my pleasant surprise, my wife got really into it, sipping/tasting right along with me. We were able to get 4 (tasting) sips per UK dram. My favorite was the 7862, and my wife's was the Wine Cast (which was Trista's favorite as well). The Flagship is the most popular, and readily available at retail stores. The Solum (8 - 12 ppm) is their peated whiskey, and I couldn't discern the peat (as opposed to something like Laphroaig 10 which has 5 - 10 ppm). As it usually occurs (and supposed to happen), the really enjoyable experience got me to buy (and pay retail price) some of their product to take home. BG did mention that some of their product was sold in California (similar price but far lower tax), and did find their flagship product in liquor stores in Long Beach (also sold in Amazon Fresh stores). I ended up getting a 700ml of their available single cast program (No 7862), aged 9 years for $99, and a 375ml Flagship ($39.99) for my son-in-law. We had come right when the lounge opened, so there still wasn't anybody else there when we left about an hour later. I know that American distilleries are having a tougher time in this political climate while our friendly neighbors up North are shunning American spirits. Nice to support, especially when the product and service are this good. Notes: -- Taxes for retail sold spirits are very high in WA state. 20.5% sales tax and $3.77 per liter tax. -- Phenol parts per million (PPM) are used to measure 'peatiness' in whiskey. Peat (partially decayed plant matter) is used as fuel to roast the malted barley. -- Love the fact that Seattle's climate matches Scotland. When we took a tour of the Nikka distillery in Japan, we learned similar things. It's definitely about it's sense of place (water, type of wood barrel, maturation process). And it was cool that the founders (Nikka, Westland) lived in Scotland to get educated in the process.

They collaborate with nearby mills and coopers to craft casks from Quercus garryana--aka Oregon oak--which adds a bold, spicy, nutty twist to their Garryana series. Westland uses a Washington state peat bog for their peated whiskeys. Their specific peat bog is on land purchased by a retired deputy from Joint Base Lewis McChord. It's whiskey with a Pacific Northwest soul: distinctive, layered, and anything but ordinary. After the tour we enjoyed a guided tasting of four whiskeys. The tasting room is beautiful, reclaimed from its former life as a crane factory. While there is parking in a lot on the side of the building, it is clear marked as a high prowl area and there were two fresh car windows on the ground, as if to prove it. Street parking felt like a much safer option, with more visibility. Because Westland is located in a more industrial neighborhood, there was plenty available. Cheers.

This was my first time trying mead and I really liked a lot of them! The bubbly ones on tap were lighter and really yummy! I definitely like sweeter drinks, so the dessert ones (black magic and isilu shadow) were high on my list. They had lots of flavors with most of them being fruity. There are a few options for flights, and the choice to try every single flavor! The actual indoor area was pretty small, with only enough room for the bar, one table for 6 and a little bar top seat, and the bathroom. Because of the size, the bathroom is literally 2 feet away from the table and is inside a sliding door that does not fully seal shut. It was decently loud inside with the music playing but definitely not the place to go if you need privacy in the bathroom. They had another couple tables (2/3?) outside but it's tucked in a narrow alley so it was pretty tight out there as well. There is a stack of games to play inside and it has great decor! Overall, the drinks, vibes, and service were great! We had 7 people and completely filled the inside of the shop, so I would recommend a smaller group. The shop is down a narrow set of stairs between 2 building and another few stairs from the door down to the bar. I'm not sure if there is another entrance, so I believe this would be inaccessible for someone who was unable to use stairs. 4/5! Would definitely come here again and recommend to someone who wants to try something new! Very hidden spot type place!

I saw an ad on Instagram for locally made Amaro by a woman-owned distillery. That caught my eye and…read moreI'm glad it did because this stuff is INCREDIBLE! I bought both Americano and Americano Bianco online, for pickup at their distillery/tasting room. The building itself is out of the way and not something you'd find casually walking around. Parking is good and they have good wheelchair/crutches access which I note now after having been on crutches twice in two years. I wandered in expecting to just pick up my bottles and leave. But they had a small crew (masks on) there and invited us for a tasting! They kept their masks on and stayed at a distance - and they had a big space with an open garage style door so it was really safe! I was blown away especially by the Americano Bianco. It's herbaceous and just sweet enough. FULL of flavor! It is good enough to drink neat and I just made a fabulous Negroni with it at home. The standard Amaro is good but not quite as much as a stand-out to me as the Bianco. Regardless, both are well worth the price. And the company's story? Priceless. Jamie told us about their two year process in developing the recipe. And they explained how they source their ingredients, which they have gone to great lengths to procure sustainably and locally. For example, they get saffron from farmers in Chelan and worked with them to pick the exact strain that would suit the Amaro's flavor profile. This company is dealing admirably with Covid-19 restrictions and with the very strict liquor restrictions in King County/Seattle. They say they hope to have tastings outside as soon as they can get approval. I will definitely be back to support this company because of their great product, very nice people, and what appear to be phenomenal business values.
