Recently my business has moved across the street from Greenwood Hardware, which has made me appreciate them more than ever! I've lived in the neighborhood since '91 and have received the problem solving assistance of Marty on too many occasions to count! This morning though started my day off SOOOO right, I just knew I needed to glow about it somewhere. I should have asked the woman's name who helped me because she solved my problem so quickly and effortlessly and gave me a solution I would never have been able to come up with on my own. Didn't cost much and NOW my business has some beautiful new signs hanging in the windows. As I said to her when I was leaving, "Things are always so good at Greenwood Hardware!" Our water heater leaked out over the utility room floor on Monday, so we mopped it up. On Tuesday at around 9 AM I called Greenwood Hardware, and got immediate attention. The installer was at my door by 10:15 AM, even though I was scheduled for 11 AM. He had the new tank in place and heating water by 11:30 AM. I'd call that fast service. read more

This place is awesome. The nice lady that works there suggested I spend an extra 2 bucks on a cutting-in brush and thank god she did. Was a 6/1 of brushes. Got a couple gallons of Aztec Sand Blue And painted my kitchen with a 1$ mistake paint. Great deal! read more

Awesome Job Mike and John! Our 19 year old water heater blew out. Before we called Greenwood Hardware, We made the mistake of calling one of the "big 3" plumbing companies in our area. As soon as they arrived it was about upselling and telling me about equipment and accessories I needed that I didn't need. Even with their "discounts" they had it up to $3,600... Well, my house was built in 2000, plumbing is fine, water heater is in the garage, clean and accessible, and the only code issue was the need of added earthquake restraint bands, that's all! I called Greenwood, Mike was a pleasure to talk to, looked up all the equipment and pricing right away, gave me a quote. He even checked with his crews to see if they could squeeze me in the same day. John came out to the house when he said he would be there, friendly, took one look and said, Oh, very straightforward... had the old one out and new one installed in AN HOUR! Cost, 50 gallon with new stainless connections, earthquake kit.. under $1,200. Quick, friendly, informative, and been at it 35 years. A no-brainer recommending them! read more

These guys are the best and really go out of their way to help you out. The one guy, Shawn, i think? (i don't really remember his name but he had shaved red hair) is constantly going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure i get what i need for the cheapest price possible. We bought our water heater from TrueValue in January-2010. Recently we had been having issues with our hot water (only getting about 5 minutes worth). I first attempted to diagnose the problem myself, but after a close encounter with electric shock I decided to schedule an appointment with TrueValue. They initially offered to show up the next day, but due to my own scheduling issues I arranged for them to come a week later. Before I could reach my appointment, I had a wet basement....ugh. I called TrueValue on Friday morning and they were there within 2 hours. They quickly diagnosed the issue and because the unit was still under warranty they replaced my thermostat and lower element FOR FREE. Both repairmen were very polite (Mark and I don't recall the other guys name) and took the time to show me what the issue was. I would HIGHLY recommend buying a water heater from TrueValue. I have also been in the store a few other times for small items and have received friendly and helpful service. read more

John was very helpful in getting my water heater thermostat(s) replaced. He diagnosed the problem over the phone and finished the job quickly and efficiently when he arrived. I'm probably due for a new water heater within 1-2 years and will contact them for the replacement because of this experience. read more

Thank you, thank you Greenwood TrueValue! I brought in a towel rack that I had pulled out of the wall. I had stripped a screw trying to remove it from the hardware and couldn't remove it. They got it out (it took 4 different staff!) and helped me find the parts that I needed to repair the towel rack and replace it. Super friendly and didn't make me feel bad for taking up a lot of their time. I feel lucky to have this store in my neighborhood! read more

Oh how I love this place, at least most of the time. Love their thoughtful selection of items, and sense of whimsy! Usually their service is fabulous. But a few months ago I was there for about half hour picking up some items and when I went to check out, the employee who had been helping me find stuff was talking with what appeared to be a friend or acquaintance behind the counter. Or maybe the guy was an off-duty employee? I don't know. But this friend-guy was talking very loudly to the employee and dropping the F-bomb in Every.Single. Sentence. I kid you not, he saw me and just kept telling this very negative story peppered with the F-bomb. Yes, I know I'm old at 50. But I was horrified and embarrassed. Wish I had said something to him, but I didn't. The employee himself looked a bit uncomfortable but didn't stop his friend. So, I'm sad because I was loving this place and now it's hard for me to visit anymore. Unprofessional to say the least. read more

I discovered a slight leak in a very old gas hot water tank and called in the morning and was told someone would be available at 2 that same day. John showed up and was in and out in under 2 hours. He was courteous and careful, and totally cleaned up after himself. I couldn't have asked for better service and their pricing was quite reasonable compared to other installers I checked. read more
