My dad has been here for 34 years and my mom joined him 2 years ago. I have to say that sometimes it might take a few times but whenever I need something taken care of they get it done. When my mom passed, we were even ready to pay quite a bit of money to have our mother placed but they were honest enough to tell us that our Mom paid for everything way back when our Dad died. I personally had a great experience here with the services to set up my husbands burial. David was very helpful, detailed, patient, and broke everything down for me when I had questions. He was even able to make me laugh during this hard time and I appreciated his humor the cemetery is beautiful and I was able to find a lovely space for my husband that suits him, and we were able to celebrate his life how we wanted without too many restrictions that some other cemeteries have. we have several loved ones at Greenwood and I love to go and sit and visit with my family. But here lately it hasn't been so nice when you have ice cream vendors circling you. we had our mothers service and and same thing happened, she was circling until the service was over and of course the little ones are going to ask for something. This is very tacky and looks so ugly. They need someone there on weekends to tell them to leave the premises. They know they are not supposed to be there because they tell you to hurry and pick what you want before someone comes to tell them to leave. On Monday 5/27 there were 3 of them there. read more

We have a loved one here at greenwood and never have had an issue till now. So sad with the rudeness we received from the office. We had 4 vases of flowers stolen 3 days ago & now the glass jars were broken. They did nothing to help, nothing to file a complaint. NOTHING WAS DONE. The lady did not care, simply said what the rules were, I acknowledge what she said and asked to acknowledge my point & she did nothing. She simply kept repeating the same thing. She did not care. I called the number +16022725639 and was transferred to their office at 3:41 on Friday, August the 19th. The call was 3 minutes. She was no help. We have been laying our loved ones to rest on this property since the 1960's. This property has definitely gone downhill. The last 2 services we have had there (2017 & 2023) our loved ones were not prepared in a way that was to our satisfaction. Botu experiences were somewhat shocking and traumatizing due to physical changes made to our loved ones appearances. To the point that we weren't even certain it was them! The "catered reception" food is sub par, but outside catering is not an option. I wish I could move all of my family members elsewhere. I won't be having any other services here if I can avoid it. read more

Pretty much my entire maternal side of the family is buried here. It goes all the way to my Great Great Grandmother. The most recent of family to be buried here is my aunt. We had an out door funeral with her casket closed and all of the flowers surrounding her. They provided an awning & chairs for our family and friends. A woman who came to give her respects said the cemetary was being built when the WWII soldiers were coming home. As a child she thought it was a park and her and her friends would run around and play. In the winter the grass is slightly browner. I've been when the lawns are a very bright lush green. At the end of the funeral they kind of dropped the ball and the main guy disappeared when we wanted to lower the casket in the ground. My grandma gave him an earful. It wouldn't be a family event without my grandma giving someone an earful. I think my great grandma bought multiple plots for herself, husband and their 4 kids plus a spot for their future spouses. She did this years and years ago. As the years have gone on some of the spots have been used already. My aunts husband was cremated and his ashes were taken by his family. So we have a few extra spots. If you're thinking of a burial in your future it may be well worth the forethought to buy ahead. It makes it so much easier on your family to not have to deal with it at the time of a sad death in your family. It's a lovely place for family, for what it's here for. read more

As we all know a family member passing is an emotional time, however it is also a very expensive time as well. Especially, with Greenwood. Luckily for me I was aware that my grandmother paid for our family plots in the 70's as I was almost charged again for the plot. Then comes the canopy, and chairs for 1300+. My mother was cremated so then they tell you that you have to pay for their special casing which is true for the fact that it preserves the urn. What they forget to mention is that they upped the price on this casing and they price match. I found the same item on Amazon 60% cheaper. Finally it's almost over you've paid for a headstone and dependent on the size Greenwood will charge you 800+ to lay a bit of cement due to the "man power and specifics of laying the cement"....not over yet, when you try to pay them for the cement as they require they will lose your paperwork, tell you no payment is required, and then flip the script and say they never said that....be prepared when dealing with them as they are very prepared for dealing with you....smh just sad overall Forgot to mention the upkeep of the cemetery with all of it weeds and dead grass....unless your looking through the gates from the street they make sure to keep that pretty. Unfortunately for our loved ones layed to rest in the older areas no care is given. Absolutely horrible! This place is terrible about being on time. This is the second funeral we have been to here where the Deacon was late. Today he never even showed after postponing the service from 11:30 to 12:15. Finally the family had to start it there selves at 12:35.! The most awkward part is when you have nobody to help with the opening services, prayers, closing of the services, and directions of a reception or anything afterwards. I would not recommend this place. Very unfortunate for a family to have to deal with this type of unprofessionalism on the day of loss. read more

If I could dig up my mother and move her to another cemetery I would. The property looks decent, however this has been the worst experience I have had probably with any company ever. Not only are they extremely unorganized, they rarely respond to emails, it's party central on the weekends with blaring music and large crowds, stray dogs roam the property urinating on monuments and graves, and items put on the grave go missing. Oh, and if you purchase a monument from them, you can expect pricing issues, long delays, and a whoooole lot of miscommunication!! read more

We went to visit my Dad's and my brother's graves on Father's Day. There were many people in the cemetery visiting and the grounds once again still look horrible. On a day that you know people will for sure be paying respects, why not mow the grounds and get rid of the weeds? There was actually green this time, but it was from weeds. The milk weed was taking over the headstones and the ants from the weeds made it impossible to stand or sit and spend time reflecting on my dad and my brother. There is no attention given to the grounds that I can see. At least not on our side of the cemetery. We regret burying them here but once you pay to bury, you can't do anything about the lack of continuing upkeep unless you intend to move your loved ones. read more

This place is okay as far as this sort of thing goes. I had an aunt interred here from 1960 to 2009 when they had her remains moved to the Chandler Cemetery to be next to her husband, my uncle. When she passed away from asthma and cancer the Chandler Cemetery hadn't been formed yet. Here, she was in a "vault" I think they call it. They were stacked about 4-6 high along a wall. I like where she is now better, near my uncle and cousin. The actual grounds, outside the mausoleum, are green and lush. read more

This place is not well maintained at all. My mom's plot is always over grown with weeds, they over water so their is green sludge by her plot as well. We had these amazing light up flowers that were thrown away by their care takers. When we complained to management , all she did was say we are working to clean up the whole cemetery. But every-time we visit our plot is the only one missing items, while dead flowers , and trash remain. Large families have cookouts here so it is very hard to have a peaceful visit. I do not recommend this cemetery. A few times we have visited their were 2 big black dogs walking around and peeing in plots. Unacceptable !! read more

Bring out ye dead, bring out ye dead! Many years ago, in my youth, I lived right across the street from Greenwood Memory. Every Halloween in elementary school, during those same years of my childhood, my music teacher would show us an old film reel of a cartoon skeletons dancing around a cemetery set to Camille Saint-Saëns' "Danse Macabre;" I loved this, and I always thought that Greenwood Memory Lawn would be the perfect setting for such a ghastly event. In all seriousness, I have friends and family members buried here, and when I did live across the street from it, I enjoyed strolling through the grounds. If you don't have an issue with the thousands of corpses beneath your feet, this is actually an incredibly beautiful park with old growth trees set right in the middle of urban/industrial Phoenix read more

Please before you make arrangements to bury your loved one take a look at the grounds. I was very appalled how the grounds look! There were several patches of grass missing throughout the cemetery a lot of yellow grass, trees that have been cut down and the stump left there. I heard that they're going to remove A lot of the pine trees because they are infected with the bark beetle. The Well that they have has been out of commission since July the attendant told me they were having trouble getting the parts due to the coronavirus which is bull crap because the coronavirus didn't hit until late December. I've planted grass seed and gone there 3 days in a row to water. I called the office and spoke to Nicolette and asked when will they water that section. She stated she will have to speak to the superintendent. I told her I will call her back later. I did and she was not available. I left my name and number for her to give me a call back status. I understand this is Arizona but when you're making millions of dollars you have to have a watering back up system. Come on man! Owners and silent partners should be ashamed of themselves!!! Why put your family through any more grief than need be? They'll already have your suicide to contend with, and now, unexpectedly, they're dealing with funeral and burial arrangements? Pretty fucking selfish, don't ya think? Give them one final gift (other than your ending), by making your own funeral / burial arrangements. It's simple, fast, and, at Greenwood Memory Lawn, you'll slide through the process like a pig on ice. The friendly folks at Greenwood will walk you through all their funeral and burial options even though you already know you're going with El Cheapo. I liked their funeral plan features, since most allow me to deny anyone the right to a eulogy while at the same time, honor my wishes for the type of music being played throughout the proceedings. I like this since I'm certain my wife would shit if she knew Rammstein's Du Haust was about to reverberate from the chapel walls. Burial options are easy too, in the end amounting to either fire or worms, and since I have an aversion to fire, (dead or alive) I'm going with worms. If you do go with the deep six, they offer four fine packages. I like the 'Tribute', since I probably don't qualify for the Honor, Legacy, or Heritage packages. Those packages presume you did something worthwhile as a human. I didn't, and besides, there's no shame in the Tribute option. It's a pretty decent package, offering 2 casket choices and, more importantly, one of five Family Support Options. I'll be selecting the Memory Portrait option, mainly because I want to be remembered as the real me, even if it is a picture of me diving naked off a cliff at Havasu. I thought this would be a fine remembrance for loved ones and besides, it just felt right. I thought about the 'Asset Protection' feature instead of the Memory Portrait, but after Wall Street fucked me blue in their 2008 Great American Pillage, (some call it the Great Recession) there's nothing left but the pictures, memories and one very fancy coke spoon. Anyway, if you're not a veteran, and, you're fairly certain no-one is going to want you in a genie bottle on their mantle, this seems the best choice. Greenwood is located in South Phoenix, but with their National Transferability program, you can be buried anywhere in North America, so long as it's 75 miles from where you live now, making a drug overdose in a Mexican border town not out of the realm of possibilities. read more

Ok it wouldn't have occured to me to review a cemetery, but I was browsing through reviews, and saw that my beloved neighborhood cemetery was on Yelp! Then I thought, you know, I am always telling people how beautiful it is and how I've heard somewhere that it is the biggest memorial lawn in Arizona so why don't I? I don't know anyone buried there or anything I just go for the beauty of it, there are so many mature shade trees that I swear it is 10 to 15 degrees cooler on a hot summer afternoon. The maintenance men are very nice and cool about us bringing our dogs. It also has a really big marble mausoleum that you can walk through. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they close the gates at 5pm, so no evening visits :(. read more

Until We Meet Again Mother A few days ago My family and I buried my mother at Greenwood/Memory Lawn Mortuary. (5 + more) In my own personal opinion not only her church service, but from the moment my mother passed till her burial everything about her passing was beautiful easy and fast. She passed peacefully she was very ready to go with the Lord. Thank God my mother was prepared because i don't even want to think what would we've done otherwise and im planning to do the same i don't want be a burden to my children the day i'll passed. Elijah and Arlette Barrios helped us tremendously going through this difficult time for us. I am very Grateful for all their help and their time and for listening to all of us, we were quite a few They explained very well what my mother had paid . and If i had a question or a request, believed me i had a few, they gave us their personal phone numbers and They were always there ready for whatever it was need it. We're all sad, hurting of course that my mother is not here with us anymore, but we have faith hope that someday will be reunited again thank you again Elijah & Arlette for everything you've done for us. read more

If I could leave a negative star, I would. My father was buried at this cemetery in 1982. At that time, my grieving mother bought a companion plot and another plot alongside. Since that time she has lived a long and fruitful life. She now is in the last stages of cancer and wishes to be cremated. She called someone last week at Greenwood Memorial Lawn and requested a call back regarding the plots. She did not receive a call back at all. This week, she is so weak that she asked me to call on her behalf to see about the possibility of selling them back. (She said, "It can't hurt to ask, right?") I called on August 12, 2016, and spoke with woman who was very rude, demeaning and condescending. She talked down to me as if I were stupid, and raised her voice saying "I'm trying not to be rude we will not assist you with your mother's request". As politely as I know how, I said "thank you very much for your time. I'm going to hang up now". Way to go Greenwood Memorial Lawn Cemetery!!!! I want to warn everyone before using Greenwood cemetery for your loved one's funeral needs. They will make the loss of your loved one even more difficult by taking advantage of people grieving. We have had the worst experience with Jesus and management at Greenwood cemetery during one of the most difficult times in our lives. This is a business in which their primary objective will always be to maximize profits at all cost necessary. After the unexpected passing of my brother we contacted Greenwood cemetery and they deceived us with hidden fees and service charges. They will intentionally lie to make a sale on items like gravestones, caskets, grave liners, transportation within cemetery just to make an extra profit. They will require loved ones to get extra unnecessary items like a bronze gravestone instead of granite because they can charge an extra 200 $ for "assembly". The "memorial install" fee is 500$, which is a 18"x24" hole. Think twice before contacting Greenwood. Also, they are required by law to give you a breakdown of the fees before you sign any contract. read more

My brother is interred here and I recently thought about putting a memorial stone on his grave since it has been left unmarked due to financial hardships of the time. Unfortunately I found upon calling them that they will only allow a flat stone. So in short what they told me was that even though infants are incredibly hard to loose, because he is in the baby section they do not allow any standing stone in order to make it easier for them to mow. Hmmm how interesting, I can just hear the conversations now "I'm sorry Mr. and Mrs. Jones that the child you felt growing in your womb for 9 months died shortly after birth, however we don't want you to inconvenience us with your remembering that child, who probably means more to you than yourself right now. So sorry, but on a positive not the stones we allow are incredibly cheap and affordable!" Thank you very much! Then after that news I was stunned and didn't know what to say and he hung up on me! I can definitely say that I would never want anyone I love to go there and I wish that I could move my brother! I forgot to add when I recently went to visit my brother I found the grounds in horrible shape. The infant section was full of broken branches, dead grass, and in bad shape in general. read more

Awesome service. Eli was so patient with me and my siblings. He took his time and went over everything with us, so there were no surprises. He explained every thing in detail and we had a lot of questions for him.( some I think shocked him, but he answered all of them ) We would cry and laugh during the planning of my dad's "celebration" . The staff always offered their condolences every time they called on the phone or in person. The "celebration", the video, the candle lighting , everything was put together so nice. I have been to Greenwood many times with multiple family members resting here. I will be here also when my time comes, all prepaid. I will go on to say how in recent years the customer service here has seriously depreciated. I initially purchased with Mr.Canuff years ago, very nice fella. Since then, trying to get information or help is just distasteful. I have been in the customer service industry and initially understand if someone is having a bad day. BUT it's like this most of the time ONCE YOU'VE PURCHASED. If your buying, flip the switch nice nice nice. Sorry, anyone to blame is the management, which I KNOW have been there awhile. These woman truly have to get it together maybe take some vacation time. I always feel like I need to buy something in order to get some kind of assistance. I know whats it's like to walk in, let them know I have already purchased and quickly get pushed to someone else. Rude, rude rude!!
