the patio is great for groups! the bartender was very nice and accommodating with me trying to figure out a tasty vino. i was not a fan of the house red but eventually found a familiar one. got to sample a few of the house specialties. - eggplant parmigiana - sautéed shrimp linguini - rigatoni with a vodka cream sauce with chicken most was ok. i think the service out does the food. it felt like it needed just a bit more seasoning. maybe i should have ordered the house made ravioli. tip: i heard from a foodie bee that the sautéed broccoli is amaze-balls and she comes here all the time for it. to be determined... read more

The first time we went here was my husband's birthday. We had a reservation and I was nine months and a week pregnant. They accidentally gave our table away and let us wait for over forty minutes for a table while seating many other people ahead of us. They could easily have made room for us but just let us wait until we gave up and left. Tonight we got our table but then waited 35 minutes for our food with no apology at all. The food was ok. The second star is because the food isn't bad and the eggplant is really good. But we aren't going back again. Much better options within walking distance. read more

Food is decent somewhat overpriced but not horrible. What is horrible is the service (as other reviewers have pointed out). We were seated and waited 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order. We were seated where we could see the kitchen and wait stations. We watched as orders sat in the window while the staff talked to themselves and were indifferent to the customers. We waited a long time for our waitress to come back and see how our meal was at which time we asked for to go boxes. She talked to other customers, talked with employees and made coffee before coming back with our boxes. Came by recommendation from the timeshare where I was vacationing. Rude, short service did not make up for the decent happy hour. Our waitress, a middle-aged brunette with long straight hair, also appeared to be the manager (?), as she was restocking liquor behind the bar. Though my boyfriend and I were the only customers in the restaurant, we both felt unwelcome and awkward - instead of graciously explaining the dishes, she snidely pointed to the description printed on the other side of the menu. She also failed to clearly explain how the preferred dining card could be used. I ordered from happy hour as my boyfriend ordered off the regular menu. She did not redeem the promotion for my boyfriend's entree because apparently, the promotion could not be used with "any other discounts." Since when happy hour was considered an additional discount, I don't know... Disappointing experience to be had during vacation. Communication was done in poor taste - it's matter of principle, not discount. Will definitely let my timeshare who advertises their business know of my experience. We won't be back. read more

I used to go here when it was SPIRITOS years ago and it was great. Recently i went there and sat at the bar hoping to get a quick meal n glass of wine. I got a taste of one type if wine and sat and watched as a couple came in after me. Was sat at table. Severed water and bread. Order taken. The make wait staff ran around helping other people and taking Other orders All the while i sat empty sip glass and zero service. Im a super patient person but it was very RUDE and HORRIBLE SERVICE. i walked out. Un noticed after 15 minutes. IHATE THIS PLACE AND WILL NOT RETURN. We've been here a few times because I got coupons off of restaurant.com. Probably wouldn't come here without a coupon, I think it's a little overpriced. The filet mignon was really good but I ordered it with pasta and wasn't crazy about the sauce. Their pasta sauces are "made to order" but I've never been impressed. They are really too rich and thick. I recently enjoyed the Chicken Limone, my brother loved the lasagna, and my boyfriend really liked the raviolis. I came here for a dinner double date on a Friday night. My friend ordered the sliders as an appetizer, which I didn't have but he said were really good. When the entrees arrived, it was kind of a different story. My fiance said his chicken parmesan was tasty, but the other 3 of us were disappointed. I ordered a pasta dish with clams (which I think cost $16), and it came swimming in so much clam juice/olive oil that it spilled on the table when the waitress set it down (totally not her fault) and although I tried to eat it as neatly as I could, it splashed all over my blouse (getting oil stains out is really tough, I've had to retire that shirt). Service was perfectly fine, and when we mentioned that we were disappointed the waitress offered to comp us for dessert. The tiramisu was really tasty, although my friends didn't really like the caramel cake they got. This place seems really hit and miss. For the price and the experience we had, I wish we had gone somewhere else. We probably won't go back. read more

Love this place!! Highly recommend the wedge salad, pizzas and the spinach artichoke dip! Our server was friendly and fun, totally on top of things, we never had to ask because she anticipated our needs! Love that. I will be visiting again soon and I'm definitely going back!! They know their wine too, recommended the most perfect one for our meals. I love that they show concern for people by asking we wear a mask to enter, once we were seated the mask wasn't required. I've been coming to this place for 25 years and my favorite dishes are eggplant parmesan and the chicken parmesan pizza. The food is consistently excellent! The delicious soft Italian bread makes a great spoon to scoop up the authentic red sauces and meatballs that remind me of my Italian relative's foods. Huge portions! Great wines! Reasonable prices! I was here last night for dinner they sat me right away it was not too busy inside and my waitress really only had 3 tables one almost done eating and another that got there after me. It took her a while to take my drink order. I finished my Ice Tea never got a refill my food took over 30mins to arrive at my table but the table next to me got their food before me? They got there at least 15min after me. The garlic cheese bread was horrible too soft felt cold not good at all my pasta was ok. The tiramisu was not good it tasted like it was in the fridge with food nasty for $7.00 for just one person it was $40. not worth it at all I honestly would not go back. read more

We had to wait at the hostess stand for a bit before anyone sat us. Then once seated, we waited for a longer than normal amount of time for our server to introduce himself and take drink orders. I ordered a small tossed salad and shrimp cacciatore. The hubs ordered a small Caesar salad and a special of the night- butternut squash ravioli. We both liked our salads however we both didn't really care for our entrees. Both lacked flavor and depth. The hubs said there was too much ravioli/pasta and not enough filling. He also thought the sauce was too oily/buttery. Mine just lacked a lot of flavor in the sauce and there wasn't enough veggies in the sauce/accompanying the pasta. Service was fine after we got our drinks. After tax and gratuity, the check was $32 but frankly I don't think it was even worth that. What a great restaurant. Little did I know that they have this wonderful Happy Hour. I like Happy Hours as you don't have to spend a lot of money and the sizes are just right for sharing a few of the starters. We had the sausage, red peppers, and sweet onions. The most surprising dish was not on the Happy Hour but was recommended by the owner of the Bed N Breakfast we were staying at. Broccoli and Chicken in a lemony sauce loaded with garlic. Just cooked to perfection. The Egg Plant Silders were equally good. It is in a neat little shopping center on the upper floor. Indoor and outdoor seating. After spending nearly a month in Italy I wasn't too excited to eat Italian food 'cause honestly, I'm freakin' burned out on it. But here we are, sitting on the patio with friends we haven't seen in over a decade and let me tell you the food was fine, service was great, the patio was quiet, the prices were a little high for my taste but if you've read any of my reviews - you know I'm cheap so take that with a grain of salt! The food at Gregorio's wasn't as good as the Italian food we ate in Italy - duh - but it was good. One thing that I thought was great is that you can order most menu items in a "petite portion" for $5 less. I ordered the special of the day (in a petite portion) which was Baked Ziti and added sausage for an additional $4. The red sauce was thick, not watery, and very tasty. I added red pepper flakes for an added spice. My husband ordered the Eggplant Parmesan with a side of Gregorio's homemade cheese ravioli. He like the Eggplant Parmesan but said the ravioli was sort of tasteless. The waiter kept the bread coming and he politely stayed out of the way and let old friends catch up for nearly three hours. The bill for two petite meals, two regular sized meals, and two bottles of Chianti Classico was $122 before tip, so for $30 a head we had a nice Italian meal. Salute! read more

We went there just to try something different. My wife ordered the butternut squash ravioli and she said it was the best Italian dish she has ever had. If the service was a little better I would have gave a 5 star. I'm guessing our server was mad because all we didn't order much because I was not hungry and she wasn't going to make a good tip. I always leave 20 to 30 percent for a tip but taking to is wile waking away and rolling your eyes usually doesn't get you a good tip. read more

Where do I start? Before eating a bite, I was being seated at a table designed to have one person sitting centered on each of the four sides. They had the chairs arranged on this small table 2 per each long side. I immediately scooted the chair in and slammed my knee (painfully) into a wrought iron leg. As I write this review, 7 and a half hours later, I cannot sleep due to the extreme pain and the spasms. Not having medical insurance sucks because this worries the hell out of me. From there the table was literally set. The food was genuinely bad. The sodium-laden food leaves my mouth longing and my daughters have both gotten up from bed to drink water.. The chicken in the Chicken Limone was rubbery and their knives were challenged to cut through it. The Lasagne featured a layer of rubbery pasta and, I dare say this, tasted like a "food service grade" (a.k.a. frozen packaged) item. Dollar for dollar, we could have easily driven down to South Carlsbad to Buca Di Beppo and gotten considerably better tasting and larger amount of food for the same price. I would have been seated at a larger table and not be awake in the middle of the night thinking about it. As we were there before it got busy, the service kept its head above water. We did wait a while for the food, water and bill. If the food was good, then you wouldn't be reading this paragraph. The owner makes a big deal about how all the profits are being donated to the Boys and Girls Club. That, in itself, is a very noble cause. It is wonderful to think that the "profits" are being shared and I wonder what type of salary he pays himself and his family. Why go down this path? Well, the food is soooo cheaply prepared... I cannot recommend you eat here because it wasn't very tasty, badly textured and was sodium-laden. The meal seems to have been bought at Smart & Final or Costco. Sorry, Costco meals are tastier; their buyers have higher standards. read more

Gregorio's is decent. Really, I'd give it a 3.5. The bread is always crusty on the outside and fresh in the middle. The wine pours are generous but the food has been hit and miss for me. They have a great white pizza but the rest are just okay. They have had some amazing specials on the menu but 50% of the time, I leave a little underwhelmed. The price is also hit and miss for me too. Some things are a steal and others are overpriced. The restaurant itself is very nice. I love the heaters on the patio. Off season you can have a perfectly mellow and wonder evening. I suggest a glass of red and a white pizza. read more

We've been eating here since it opened as Spirito's. The food was always great, but the former owner was someone who really shouldn't be around other people. We stayed away for about a year, then read that there were new owners, but the same chefs and cooks! Hurray, I can have real pizza again! I love their thin crust cheese pizza. The chicken limone, pasta primavera, and rosemary chicken salad are all great, too. Wonderful bread, decent selection of wines by the glass, outdoor dining...and you can stroll over to the beach to walk it all off after dinner. Thinking back, I've brought food snobs, vegetarians, out-of-towners, my parents, and a group of online mom friends and their kids here, and everyone enjoyed it. We've even ordered pizza to take to the beach for a sunset picnic. I've never been disappointed with a meal here, especially now that the staff is so friendly! read more

I'm not sure why anyone would give this resturant more then one star or why they are still in business! We ate here a few months back and it was so bad that we didnt even eat our meals! I ordered penne ala vodka and I got watery, bad tasting, cream sauce. To make matters worse I found a hair in my food! When they offered to make me a new one i told them no thank you because of how bad it really was. They still made me pay for the dish after clearly seeing that I wasn't gong to eat it. Fresh made bread (that is the most delicious bread I have ever tasted) and from what I have heard, all of their food is made in house, including pasta. I've been here once and had a great experience and enjoyed what I ordered. I ordered pasta with vodka sauce. It was delicious. I came here for a second time and didn't have that great of experience. My table got seated at our reservation time, but it took around at least 5 minutes before our waitress came to our table. We finally got drinks with bread and butter. I will say their bread is pretty good. The first time I went they served it with vinegar and oil instead, so curious why the change? I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. I realized that it was the most expensive fettuccine Alfredo I have ever ordered! I mean come on $18.50 for just pasta and the sauce!? Then to add either chicken was an additional $8 or shrimp $10. Too overpriced. It was pretty good. I could have ordered something cheaper, but I was craving Alfredo. The rest of the table ordered their sandwiches and they did enjoy it. I prefer the outdoor heated patio than being inside. Next time I will come if someone else picks this restaurant. There are plenty of Italian restaurants that serve delicious food, but not as expensive. read more

We went to Gregorio's because we read some decent reviews on Yelp & also had a Restaurant.com certificate. We called ahead, per the restaurants suggestion on Restaurant.com, and put our name on the list. When we arrived we were told it would be a few minutes. Time came and went, and when another couple who arrived after us, and didn't call in, were seated before us we brought it to the very confused, young, overwhelmed hostess's attention and then were promptly seated. The food was ok. We started with the Caprese Salad, which arrived with our dinner rather than as an appetizer. The tomatoes, basil and mozzarella were fresh and good. However, they didn't dress it at all (with the usual balsamic, salt, olive oil) and didn't offer any plates for sharing. Just put the large plate in front of my husband. The lasagna had NO meat in it. Which would be fine if you ordered a vegetarian lasagna, but that wasn't the case. I had the halibut in pesto sauce. It was good, though too salty for my taste. Would we go again? Not sure. I'd like to maybe try it on a less-crowded evening & see if the experience might be better. read more
