I was feeling a bit peckish while relaxing in Magee Park, and luckily French Corner is right across the street. A short walk brought me into this small but pleasant spot. The banana, walnut, caramel crepe was calling my name, so I went for it. The crepes are made to order, and the chef prepared it in less than five minutes. I took it to go and shared it. It was very tasty, though both diners thought it could have used a more caramel and whipped cream. That said, I'm looking forward to going back to try some of their savory crepes. read more

Call me old fashion but customer acknowledgment would be a good start to a cafe experience. My wife and I stopped by here yesterday morning. 2 guys working, not very busy. We stood at the counter to order for 10 minutes. No one so much as looked our way or acknowledged our existence. Pastries looked good and coffee menu sounded good but we'll never know because we just walked out and took our money elsewhere. Not sure why customer service seems to be going down hill everywhere but this place has potential if management could create a customer centric culture. We'll try again another time. read more

Nice quaint place at a corner street. Very informal and you get to choose your seat. The way they do it is you go to the counter and choose your order placed on the board then they'll give you a number. Surprisingly I didn't have to wait for my order. It was quick. The staff was nice and very quick to take and make the order. The crepes are a large size which matches the approx. $15 price. The restaurant vibe was adorable. The decor matched a cute quaint French bistro. The staff was friendly and helpful. To say that I have mixed feelings about this establishment is an understatement. It was a rainy day, and I was happy to get inside, but approaching the pastry case, we realize that the majority of the items appear to be more than a day old. The quiche had a very dry and cracked exterior, and the rest of the items did not look fresh. Because of this, we decided to place our orders directly off of the menu and were quite disturbed to see employees, using their bare hands to handle the food along with the young lady at the cash register wearing long, acrylic nails without gloves, which is well known as an OSHA violation. I had ordered the French toast, which ended up being quite bland and very large i. its portion. My daughter ordered a croissant and was very happy with it and my husband ordered a breakfast sandwich that was decent as well. My latte was absolutely fantastic, so I have no complaints there. Near the end of our visit, we noticed that they put out a fresh pumpkin pie so we did not hesitate to place our order as well as for the Millie feuille. Both of which were good, but the fresh pumpkin pie was by far superior with its exquisite cinnamon taste. We felt like we were being rushed out after only being there 10minutes. 2 staff members one after the other cleaned and very loudly, very obnoxiously pushed and dragged their metal chairs, to the point Where it hurt our ears. I met a friend in Carlsbad for a walk and breakfast and our plan was to go to Swami's. Well, Swami's looked boarded up so I consulted the trusty Yelp app and we found this place. Ooh pleasant surprise. I got a Lavendar Latte. It was perfect. Delicious. But not hot enough. I don't know how that happens. I shouldn't be able to start drinking a drink as soon as I get it. I want to savor it hot and taste the difference as it cools down. It was warm and not hot from the minute I got it. My friend got the frittata and said it was yummy but not hot enough. I got the gluten free crepe that would have given this place 5 stars BUT IT WASNT HOT ENOUGH. The gruyere inside wasn't even fully melted. How is this happening!!! But the taste combo was incredible. They have a nice open dining area inside and a fair number of tables on the sidewalk (although it is located on a corner on Carlsbad Boulevard, so cars do back up at the light). I understand the possible reasoning for not having wifi but it's not a good business decision.

The staff are so incredibly rude. This is my 3rd visit and this will be the final time I try. I really love the tea/gluten free options here but every time I have come, they are rude. I was asking about the tea bag flavors and she refused to show me the flavors and kept rushing me to pick a tea from their jars above. I tried to explain I really love a flavor I had here before that was a tea bag and she just kept saying you pick from the jar when she clearly had the box of tea bags behind the counter. Staff also seemed un clear which pastries are gluten free... Its expensive here and after this visit, I have decided it truly is no longer worth it. Too bad. I really urge management to figure out whats going on with the staff because reviews show I am not the only one! read more

Incredible. Amazing. Divine. The French corner makes me want to learn French! The food is just perfection. I've had coffees, sweet and savory crepes and all the pastries and everything is so good that I forget to take a picture most of the time. Get in my belly! Today is had the vegetarian crepe (I'm not a veg person but it sounded good today). The crepe exceeded all my expectations. The avo and tomato in it made it sweet and creamy. My boo had the turkey pesto panini and I taxed a bite which was delish. For dessert we tried the beignet bite (filled with hazelnut spread) and the almond cake (not official name). Both ridiculously amazing. I want to go here every day. They are on door dash with the highest delivery fee I've ever seen but understandable -$7.99. We opt to call in the order and then pick up. This is a joint review of the Carlsbad Village location and the Encinitas location. The menus appear to be identical -- but the Carlsbad location has extensive indoor seating. The picture I posted is from Carlsbad. It came about that we came to Carlsbad for morning coffees and pastries (croissant, almond croissant, cappuccino, Americano) and were so happy with them we decided to hit the Encinitas location on the way home for lunch after going to The Flower Fields. At Encinitas we had three crepes, a savory one for each of us (Provence, Caprese) and a sweet strawberry one to share. The savories came with a small greens salad. Everything comme il faut. Went in to order and immediately left after asking the young girl a few questions about what was the flavor in some of the pastries. THE WORST ATTITUDE, NO EYE CONTACT, BEYOND RUDE!! She was so irritated that I asked her about the pastries and was huffing and puffing. She should not be working Customer Service. My mother and I left immediately without ordering, we are locals in the area and used to love this place but paying the insane prices to be treated so disrespectfully is a NO for me. Will NOT be coming back and I will tell others not too as well. The owner needs to do a serious look at their employees because they are ruining their business. We were at Versailles yesterday and our group of six left very satisfied with the food, the service, and the value.
