Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. It was our first time and every thing was great! Staff were very welcoming and service was amazing. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and the supreme pizza. Food was 10/10 HUGE SHOUTOUT to Del! He always made sure we were doing alright and he had great customer service. He even brought over a slice of cake and had the staff sing happy birthday to my girlfriend. Wanted to have a carb-loading dinner that can accommodate small-to medium sized groups, provide spacious outdoor dining with heated lamps and top covering (in case of rain and cold weather), and have gluten-free and vegan menu choices. The staff member I spoke to was very courteous and professional, and assured me Gregorios can provide all of the above. Everything they promised was delivered. Our table for 7 was outside the restaurant between 2 heat lamps and under the strip mall awning. The complimentary breadsticks and garlic knots (along with marinara dipping sauce) came to the table warm. Both breads had very good texture and chew. Waitstaff came by often to fill our water glasses and check up on us. The food itself was liked by everyone at the table, including me. I got the spaghetti pomodoro. The dish was generously portioned, perfectly cooked and had a light tomato sauce that was not too salty. The owner came by to every table (including ours) to ask how everything was and if he could further serve us. Couldn't have asked for a better group outing before marathon day. Significant other and I were searching for a new pizza place. Yelp has gotten a bit spotty of late, and there were a lot of very dated reviews (2-3 years ago) but generally positive ones, and it was close by, so we gave it a try. We got a medium Quattro Formagio pizza, a Greek salad, and a cannoli. We ordered online but picked up, with an eyebrow-raising tab total exceeding $58. The pizza had good flavor but the crust was a confused in-between of more doughy/bready crust and thin crust. As a result it was a disappointing experience, especially at the price point. The Greek salad was fine, and we might get it again, but not a destination salad (so we wouldn't come back for just the salad). Quite a bit upset over the cannoli. I love a sweet bite after dinner and I love cannolis, so I was really excited to try the cannoli despite pausing over the $7.99 price tag. It was passable generally, the filling was not as creamy as I prefer, but I accept that can be a matter of the recipe and personal preference. The shell was somewhat dense and not flaky, not crisp but that may have been a result of time passing between prep, pickup, and eating dinner. Taste was okay. Where I was most deeply disappointed, however, is other than a blob of custard on the ends and a dab on top, the inside was completely empty. I mean, for $8, this was ridiculous. Yep I'm back here again! This time it was for dinner and the place was packed! Glad we made a reservation. Service was great this time! All of our food was delicious and the portions were pretty generous. So we were all happy that we could leave full but still have enough leftovers. Ambiance was nice, the bar area was full, they had a tv on and there were lots of families. Mother in law had the braised short rib with risotto (said it was great), husband had the shrimp and crab rose pasta (said it was great too), I had the chicken francese (delicious again), daughter enjoyed it too. Her pizza was plain cheese but it was huge for a kid's pizza and still good. Cannolis were thoroughly enjoyed by the table. FYI, the pic shows two cannolis because we ordered two large cannolis. We ordered takeout from the website. Parking is free and easy because it's located within Cabin John Shopping Center. The restaurant was bustling for a Tuesday night. Then again, it's one of the very few restaurants in Potomac that's open past 8pm so go figure. Haha....... Now the food itself was ok. Just ok, because the carbonara tasted very greasy and underseasoned. Not enough black pepper, and I'm assuming the pasta wasn't cooked in briney water. The noodle itself was overcooked and rather mushy. For a $19 bowl of pasta, I expected better. The eggplant parmesan was the same thing. Very mushy spaghetti and formless eggplant. It was too soft and disintegrated. I couldn't tell if I was eating mouthful of just sauce or eggplant itself. The sauce itself was very tasty in my opinion. Again, for a $23 meal, I expected better. I'm so impressed with this restaurant! I'm gluten free so it's not often I can come to an Italian Restaurant and get good food but this place had 2 pages of GF options, even dessert! A real treat! It was so busy for a Wednesday but the service was still quick and attentive. We even had the owner come by to check on us. He was so kind and shared that his daughter and niece were gf, hence the expanded menu. I got the gf ravioli in rose sauce and the broccolini. Both were so flavorful. Arrived at this nifty little venue - located in a small'ish shopping center-space in the cabin John area of Potomac. It was about 9:30 on a Saturday night, and we thought the place closed at 11 PM. After we were seated at the bar and ordered a drink, we learned they closed at 10 PM. And yet, Scott (I think the owner and for sure the amazing gentleman at the bar) did not in any way make us feel, hurried or rushed, or that we were interrupting his upcoming closing time. Instead, he engaged in conversation, and seemed to truly enjoy our presence as customers, even as they approached closing time on a busy Saturday evening. We were offered free, breadsticks and garlic knots as we waited our food order. We thoroughly enjoyed the lasagna, and oh my goodness, the salmon salad was delicious and filling. Often on, Scott chatted with us, and then moved on to other customers. Clearly, he is well respected and well liked by the community, and I can totally see why. As many from the NYC area claim ad nauseum, I'm a bit of a pizza snob. I've lived in the DMV for over 30 years and have had a hard time finding a decent pie akin to The Homeland. I have to say that Gregorio's comes pretty close, and the location in Potomac is now my go to location when I need my fix. Customer service and appreciation also are excellent. Ran into a what later I learned was an unavoidable delay with delivery last week, and the manager went above and beyond by comp'ing my pizzas for the inconvenience. Had lunch here today and really liked it! Dennys was our waiter and was very nice! He brought us complimentary garlic bread sticks and the portion was really good. I got the Chicken Marsala and it was delicious!!! The portion was generous for the lunch size and it came with plenty of sauce. I love Marsala but its often very strong.... This was not it was just right. My friends got the Penne A La Vodka and a gluten free pizza and they really liked theirs as well. I recently dined at a restaurant in the area and had a mixed experience. Let me start by highlighting the positive aspects. The staff of servers was commendable, displaying courteous and attentive behavior throughout our visit. They were quick in their service and maintained a friendly demeanor, which contributed positively to our overall experience. However, the restaurant's ambience left much to be desired. We were seated outside on high-top tables, but unfortunately, our view was obstructed by a line of Washington Gas trucks. The constant idling engines created a distracting and unpleasant atmosphere. Additionally, the restaurant's location on a street resembling an alley was far from ideal, making it an unappealing sight and causing unwanted noise. Inside the restaurant, the decibel level was quite high, which further diminished the overall dining experience. Thankfully, the weather outside was pleasant, allowing us to tolerate the less-than-ideal ambience. Moving on to the food, we ordered two domestic beers, the Gregorios Salad, and a medium pepperoni pizza to share. The salad was mediocre, as one would expect from a basic salad. It didn't offer any remarkable flavors or unique elements to make it stand out. As for the pizza, it was disappointing. Lacking in flavor, it felt flimsy and was difficult to eat without folding it in half, resembling more of a Stromboli. However, even when consumed in this manner, the pizza's consistency was runny, detracting from its enjoyment. Overall, the quality of the food did not meet our expectations. Adding to the disappointment, the bill came to $65, which, considering the underwhelming experience, seemed overpriced. With numerous outstanding restaurants in the immediate area, it's hard to justify returning to this particular establishment. Given the far superior options available for Italian cuisine in the vicinity, it is doubtful whether this restaurant will be able to survive long-term. In conclusion, while the staff was praiseworthy for their courteous and attentive service, the restaurant failed to provide a pleasant ambience. The noise from idling engines and the alley-like surroundings detracted from the dining experience. Moreover, the food, including the Gregorios Salad and the pizza, was average at best, lacking in flavor and proper consistency. Considering the relatively high price, it is difficult to recommend this restaurant when there are superior alternatives nearby. read more

Busy on a Friday night and for good reason! The service was great, our waiter was very kind and checked up on us often. It was great having management come around and welcome us as well and ask how our meal was going- it goes a long way! Be sure to take advantage of the complimentary bread basket which had a mix of breadsticks and garlic knots! The breads were tender and warm and paired great with the delicious marinara. The calamari was tender and crispy and was also paired with a lemon squeeze and marinara. Wish the portion was a little bigger for the $15 price tag but delicious nonetheless. For us the big issue was service; we had reservations for a birthday dinner for four outside and two of our party arrived first, were seated by the hostess, then told they had to move as a larger party had asked to sit outside and the restaurant now needed to move some tables together, which justifiably upset our two early arrivers. We knew we would be ordering a lot so we asked to sit at the next (round) table with five chairs and were told we couldn't as they were expecting a party of six 'later on' (we were there for an early 5:30 pm dinner). That party arrived as we were getting our check almost 1.5 hours later....with mostly small children. The restaurant could easily have seated us at the larger table but we ended up crowded with plates at our table so it was not a pleasant meal. The food was good but the service was indifferent and we certainly did not feel like valued guests after the 'no, you can't sit there' feedback on the first two tables. Also, even though I had specified this was a birthday dinner, at no point did anyone mention the birthday or even ask the table about who was the birthday celebrant. We left with ZERO celebration or acknowledgement by the restaurant, and we will never go back there again. read more

Originally, my criticism/complaint about Gregorio's was going to be limited solely to their take-out customer service from my 1/7/23 experience. As you can see from my photo, I tried to contact Gregorio's twice through their "Contact Us" webpage to request the manager's email address in order to explain my experience before having to post on Yelp to caution other take-out customers. Unfortunately, nobody bothered to respond. This below would have been my criticism/complaint from my 1/7 experience for takeout service. ====== My family really enjoy Gregorio's food--but heavily advise against takeout service unless management improves its employee training for takeout orders. Seems like the customer service there is different for those who do take out as opposed to those who actually eat there. I found in an order that began with me heavily, emphasizing the first item as red clam sauce on angel hair pasta. Repeated it just to make sure. Later ordered a white clam sauce on linguine, but made sure not to order them back to back, so as not to confuse Gregorio staff member. I guess I should always be suspect of a place that does not repeat back the orders that they are taking down to make sure that they understand them properly. When I drove home 20 minutes later, we discovered it was wrong. When I phoned back to point out the mistake, the staff member didn't even admit that it was their mistake. The staff member did not even understand what red clam sauce is, and had to go ask someone else. Obviously, if you don't understand the order, then, don't make an assumption that it is something else! When I went to pick up the order again, and explained to both young women, that I spoke to that I was there to pick up the incorrect order, they did not even offer any apology or acknowledge that the restaurant's takeout service employees had done anything wrong. I guess you actually need to be a dine-in customer there to be able to point out their mistakes to actually deserve that kind of acknowledgment for the inconvenience caused by their inaccuracies. Returned home to join my family. 40 minutes after we had intended to sit down with the three other dishes we had ordered. I also hate places that pack up all the food in paper bags so that you cannot see the items that you ordered to compare them with what you ordered. My fault is is that I should've complained to the manager who I think should've been alerted for my arrival once it was pointed out that a mistake had been made and somebody was driving. 20 minutes back. Therefore some events made it the top for me here at Gregorio's. Major tip: make a reservation. Especially during dinners and weekends. The most impressive part of the evening is the waiter, he was very patient and very knowledgeable of the menu - even reciting the ingredients when asked about the dishes. He even gave recommendations that matches my choice. I respect that. Dishes: they quickly served us breadsticks with pomodoro which was a great way to tie us until we can decide what to order. Personally, I ordered the short ribs with risotto. One thing to note is the servicing size is made for 2 - honestly. They are your Italian nona that wants you to eat more. The ribs were so tender - melty, which I bet they cooked it in a pressure cooker or have slowly simmering them. The risotto was creamy and still withheld its structure without being too "mushy". I cannot tell if they added cream or they used traditional risotto cooking. The whole stew at top tied everything together. It was seasoned perfectly without overwhelming the meat or risotto. The whole dish was rich and comforting - great for a winter season. For the price it was really worth it. We also ordered a couple of dishes including fried zucchini. It was delicious but found it a bit oily - which is expected from frying. The texture was still soft compared to crispy outer layer. I want to say the highlight was the owner coming over to our table to ask how it was going and chatting with us. That was super intimate that make you feel like you're eating at someone's kitchen. What an amazing touch. Overall. This restaurant is a great Italian American I've been in a long time. Try it once and let your palates decide. Update: I took leftover short rib and risotto to take home. I reheated it appropriately and had a repeated amazing experience of great taste for two days. We dined here for the first time tonight and WOW! They brought out a delicious bread basket with a dipping sauce shortly after we were seated - bread sticks, knots, all of the happy carbs. The service was phenomenal - they were on top of drink refills, friendly, knowledgeable, and able to offer great suggestions to those of us who weren't sure what to order. When the food arrived, it was hot, fresh, and delicious. It was the best meal I have eaten in a long time, and I think everyone at our table would agree. A few of us ordered pastas, some ordered salads, others ordered seafood, and we got a pizza for the table. Absolutely every dish was delicious! My only complaint would be that the food was so good I ate too much and regretted wearing pants that have a button. (Obviously this is 100% my fault, but just wanted others to have a fair warning to wear attire that allows them to indulge).
