The tasting room is set in an old homestead with limited indoor space, but the covered porch and picnic tables make for a relaxed and charming outdoor experience. If you're up for it, the Pinzgauer Vineyard Tour is a fun way to explore the property and learn about the winery's history--we did it in early summer and loved it, though it can get hot, so come prepared. We haven't tried the hiking or mountain biking trails yet, but they're definitely on our list. Whether you're local, visiting, or planning a weekend day trip from the Bay Area, Six Sigma is absolutely worth the detour. Got to chat all about Nebraska and how his family ended up here making wine. What an interesting story. Kendall is a true renaissance man. Soon a group of friends and some wine members joined us. Had a lovely chat with everyone and got recommendations on hikes, restaurants, etc. And I got super lucky- It's restaurant week in town! The area is gorgeous. The tasting room is lovely especially with all of Kendall's stained glass artwork. The outdoor patio is super welcoming and if it hadn't been a cold/windy day sitting outside would have been awesome. I'm told that in the summer they have Thursday night parties with food/music etc which sounds amazing. And they serve a Frose in the summer. Can't recommend this place more. PS- The Pinot Noir was my favorite.

We camped during the week and naturally there were very few tasting rooms open. After driving to a few places only to realize that they were closed, we randomly picked the closest pace to where we were and called them. Charlene picked up and when I asked if they were open, she wanted to know when we were coming by, I said in 5 minutes and she asked us to come on down. I wondered why she asked about when we wanted to do the tasting but when we got there, we realized that they were not open but since they were there, they let us come by to taste. I am blown away by the friendly folks in Kelseyville. Charlene, the owner's daughter did the pouring for us, the sparkling pear wine was out of this world. Since we only wanted to taste whites, she went out of her way to pick 5 whites for us. The tasting room is small and can fit about 5-10 people but then they spill out into the warehouse and do the tasting there. This place is a big production, a family vineyard but not a 10-20 acre place. Not sure how large it is though. All the wines were great and my friend picked up a bottle of the sparkling pear. Tastings are $15 each but Charlene waived both our tasting fees when we bought the one bottle. They even went as as as calling another winery to see if they would take us even though they were also closed. I would highly recommend this winery, I would go twice!!

But we were racing against time to reach a supposed tasting room before 5pm. We shouldn't have worried. The owner/winemaker at Noggle pours his wines out of the garage of his house. We knocked on his back door and a short time later we were drinking truly amazing cabernet sauvignon. Noggle is a one-man operation, a delightful, low key, interesting operation with what seems to be a cult following among other Lake County wine people. Everywhere we went those in the know were either recommending we go to Noggle or sharing their rave reviews. It was all justified. Take the trip down the long, windy road to find this place. Support a small business, and a passionate winemaker making fantastic stuff!

Knowing what a labor of love such an endeavor is, I always want to support the efforts of the little winery. Biased or not....let me tell you this.... Michael Noggle is making some truly outstanding wines! We tasted two Cabs and a Sauv Blanc. All three were truly top notch wines. I can only believe that such great wines are the pay-off that comes when you single handedly participate in every step of the winemaking process, from the planting of the vines all the way to bottling, the way that Michael does. We visited a couple of the better known Lake County wineries on this trip and while we tasted some pretty good wines all around, none of them held a candle to Noggle! The tasting room experience is also the way I belive it should be... small and intimate (you're basically tasting in his garage) and filled with great first-hand information from Michael himself. So please visit Noggle. Support the little guy....and in doing so, bring home some really fantastic wine. It's a win-win situation!

I learned what a field blend is. We both enjoyed the wines and bought a fair amount. I think they will benefit from a few years of aging. As others have mentioned, if you need a break from some of the more commercial, busier tasting rooms, this is a nice stop.
