The surprise for me was when I came to pick up my car and they went over the bill and answered all my questions. This place is awful. These idiots know nothing about cars. They are the biggest rip off jokes around. Lazy and a bunch of liars that over charge people. PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. that is unless you want to just give them your money for them to park your car in the back and have them do Nothing. I went in 1 time for a water leak and backfire and my car just wasn't running good at all. A day or 2 later they tell me everything is fixed. I go in I pay around 600$ I knew that was way too much, but I thought " well if it's fixed I'm happy and don't have to worry about it". I got about a block away and it's doing the same exact stuff and it's still leaking bad. I immediately stoped at a gas station, put water in my car. Drove right back to them and explained everything again to them. All they told me was " well your going to need carburetor work in the future. And they told me I could fix the leak myself. Because it was an easy fix. I was so pissed I just left. I called around and took it to a different mechanic. He fixed everything and replaced the carburetor for 300-400$. And after that everything was great. I hope people that are considering these idiots read this review and think twice and take there car to real mechanics. a Rip Off. Way overcharged me for parts. Damaged my own parts and then said they were the wrong parts, so I could not turn them back for credit and Greg's did not allow for their destruction of my parts. The final bill came in a $425 over their estimate due to them padding their and marking up their parts some 200%. I left the vehicle based on an appointment and it sat for 2 days in the parking lot with no work being done. This as an old classic vehicle and not something you leave outside. Good, honest, qualified mechanics are hard to find but you need to stay away from this one unless you like getting ripped off. read more

Had loud grinding noise behind glovebox on Lexus Rx 300. Googled it and learned it was a common problem of the AC mode servo and air mix servo actuators. Numerous videos on Youtube showing amateurs removing glove box, removing unit, replacing unit, less than 1 hour time and $150 part. Told Greg's Garage exactly what was needed. They called back (10 hours later) with estimate for $1350! They also wanted to do numerous other expensive things discovered in "courtesy" inspection. (BTW-- It is not a "courtesy" when you charge 1 hour labor--$150-- to perform it without my prior authorization.) I flipped out at the price. Jeff said they had to remove entire dashboard--5 hours labor-- to repair. I said no, just go through the glove box. Jeff said he would consult with his tech. He called back 12 hours later and acknowledged they were wrong, it was only 1.7 hours of labor( thru the glovebox) and $150 part. I offered to pay 1.7 x $150/hr labor plus $150 part=$ 425. Jeff insisted on $565. I declined and paid $150 for unauthorized, unasked for, "courtesy" inspection. BEWARE, RUN AWAY, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! read more

There was a challenging issue with our auto start/stop system in our jeep. Tthey were able to figure it out quickly, and we were very happy with the outcome and the bill was a lot less than what we had expected considering the issues. Awful! I took in my car and had the engine replaced, all seemed ok after I got it back until I drove up the street. My gas gauge and speedometer just stopped working. Took it back in assuming that they just didn't plug something back in tight enough and they tell me that it is my cars computer and that I need to pay over 300 dollars more to fix them. I agree to fix the speedometer for 100 and miraculously the gas gauge worked after I got it back... So either they did the 200 + dollar repair and didn't mention it at all or they just fixed what they originally forgot to plug back in. My best bet is on the 2nd... read more

They have always given me great service at a fair price. Very disappointed as a parent who son is going to college in Reno. I called this garage and spoke to them about getting my sons car getting a diagnostic run. I told him how worried about not getting my son taken it's fine only $149. My son DROVE it in on the 29th They had it for one week with no phone calls for a follow up to where his brother me had to call to ask about the car ya I will call you back nothing we called everyday for one week. Price changed 4 times. $308, $288, $253 final price $250 when my son picked up the car a week later. Went to take the car it won't start had to have it jumped to drive it home. Go home car won't start. He says nothing wrong with the car you just need brakes. Lights coming one going off and on drove car in had to have it jumped to take it out. They took advantage of a college student and has a parent very sad. I live out of state and he tells me I don't have time to call moms. WTF when I'am the one who made the appointment. Lesson learned. I have been to many mechanics in Reno and either received bad service or had to take my car back because of poor service. I had heard that Greg's Garage was a little expensive. However, I also hear many great things about them. I took my Jeep there and was treated like family. They fixed so many problems my car was having. Afterwards there was this noise that 3 other garages could not find. One of Greg's Garage mechanics heard the noise and instantly fixed it. My Jeep has never ran better. They did not start work when they said they would and took 3 additional days to do what was supposed to be a 4 hour job, then I found out that they did an incomplete rewiring job on my car and my 4wd was inoperable! More than happy with these guys. I was having issues with Reno Dodge as they had put new tires on my Van and after we drove away the Tire Senors went off saying that we had Zero tire pressure in one tire. I took it back to their service center and they charged me $120 to even check out the issue, anyways they told me it was going to be almost $650 as all of my sensors were out of batteries and needed to be replaced. WHAT??? I wasn't okay with that so I called Jeff at Greg's Garage and he told me that most likely the sensors needed to simply be reset. He asked that I bring it by and he would check it out for me for free. Turned out that "Whomever"=Reno Dodge had replaced my tires had damaged one of the sensors. Greg's Garage ended fixing the one sensor for $150 so that I wouldn't have to deal with Reno Dodge again. Anyways, glad for the quick resolution from a great company. read more

They are great at Greg's garage. My car completely broke down on me and I had it towed there. They were up front and honest with me about the damage that was done, how much it would be to fix it, and advised me to put the money into a new car instead of fixing a car that seemed to have a short amount of working time left anyways. Other shops would probably just tell you to get the repairs to make money, but they didn't and I really appreciated them for it. Also, their receptionist, Jennifer, was awesome as well. This shop is awesome and really knows what they're doing, not to mention that they go out of their way to squeeze you into their schedule even when they are overbooked. I came here during Hot August Nights the busiest week of the year in Reno and these guys were jam-packed, they knew that we needed my car for the show and made arrangements to squeeze me in even though they were packed and short-handed that day. They fixed what I asked them to fix and they did a little extra that they didn't have to do. This is definitely my go-to spot and I would recommend it to anyone. I would never go back to this place. My truck was towed in- they said I needed a new fuel pump fuse & they needed relocate the fuse box on recommendation of the factory. They advised a radiator flush and oil change- I went with the flush- declined the oil change. $843.00 Got my truck back- the next day the engine fix-it light comes on, contact the garage they want to charge me another fee to diagnose the problem - they claim they ran all tests on the truck before it left it had no problems, the engine light must be a new problem. After fighting with them for two weeks, refusing to pay another diagnostic fee- they look at the truck and claim I need a complete new engine- I blew the head gasket and now have a bad cylinder and the other cylinders are going bad, +$10,000.00 for a new engine, not including labor. That it was a new problem and it was only my perception that they didn't fix it the first time. I declined from having Greg's do any more work on my truck. About a month later the dash fix-it light goes out- then recently I get a recall notice for Ford about a faulty sensor - problem fixed. They might be good for simply stuff but anything complicated that requires thought- go someplace else. read more

I had an appointment on Monday at 730am for AC Service. I am very disappointed with this shop and the service writer Jeff. But first let me tell you on Wednesday last week I called to make an appoint for Friday, they took all my information and when I showed up on Friday they had no information about me, Jeff said that if I could reschedule for Monday at 730am. I was patient and said yes. I came in on Monday dropped my car, I called Jeff about 235pm and asked him about the car, he said that they still didn't know anything and was going to call me shortly. Why doesn't he tell me that they have not started to work on it. Instead they go into circles. Very unprofessional. I got off work and went to your shop and my car was still in the same place I left it.If I don't go my car would of probably still be there till tomorrow. I was really upset!!!!! My boss recommended your shop and I told him what happen and he said Greg should know what happen. My boss knows Greg for a very long time. Any way he will not be recommending anyone anymore if that is the type of service we receive. Like I said very disappointed it looks like your service writers don't care but that's nothing new, all the shop either have bad service or just not honest. As a young woman I don't always have the best experiences at auto shops, so Greg's Garage was a pleasant surprise. I went in to get brakes checked and they ended up checking my transmission as well since it was due for maintenance. Lance went out of his way to tell me what they were going to do, what they were looking for and called me with an update, all in terms I could understand (as I am no mechanic). At the end of the day I paid a little for an inspection that was needed, and will be going back in a few months when my brakes are closer to being ready to be done. These guys screwed me pretty hard. $600 in labor to replace my clutch. I could buy that, it's quite the operation on my car. It's steep, but if the work is quality, so be it. What really sucks is being charged roughly $400 for parts that retail for $200. Pretty shitty of them, I think. So anything I can do to lower their rating, get them back somehow, because it seemed pretty fruitless arguing with them while they were holding the keys to my car. Anyway, don't go here. They are way, way expensive, and I can't imagine that they don't know full well that they are taking people for a ride, as it only took me 15 minutes on the internet to figure out that this job should have cost half as much. read more

I recently was told to bring my vehicle here by Tires Plus because they believed there was an issue with my spark plugs and they were not able to handle this issue in their shop. I did what was suggested and brought my car over to Greg's Garage and told them what I was told by Tires Plus and was told they would charge us $130 for the diagnosis and then receive a call based on the findings. Fast forward 7-8 hours and I get a call saying that the spark plugs are fine but could still be replaced along with the coils and then a myriad of other "issues" including an oil change which was actually completed not even a month ago by the same Tires Plus that sent us to Greg's. The total bill was $3,400. Needless to say I was concerned with the price and decided to get a 2nd opinion since this all seems like a scam. They still hit me with a $600 bill for diagnosis. Went to them because an engine light was on and I could not pass state inspection. This place is recommended by the state of NV for non-pass of inspection items. I knew my truck needed a new temperature gauge. I made the appointment the previous week to take it in the next Monday at 8:00am. I was told it would probably be done by that afternoon...well I did not see my truck again until late Wed. afternoon- and only after calling them 4 times with inquiries about my vehicle. First, they couldn't get to it- they were so busy- Huh? I made an appointment. Then they didn't have the part, so they had to call around to find it. Then it had to be shipped here. Then installed and finally the truck had to sit for a few hours so all of the "bubbles" were out of the coolant system. Three days without a vehicle. But what makes me the most mad- and the reason I will never take another vehicle to this place is that I was quoted a $15 re-inspection fee and $149 for thermometer and labor. I signed this paper. They did not give me a copy of this quote and I did not think to ask for one (my mistake). Even though I called 4 times, they never once discussed an increase in payment. I walked away paying $387- over $200 more than what was expected- and what could I do? They had already had my truck for 3 days! I couldn't let them keep it any longer. The man at the counter said the agreement I signed did not apply because that was for a "verification" of the problem and not the parts and labor or the re-inspection fee- What? I have always taken this vehicle to the dealership- but thought I might save some money since financial experts say to use a garage after the vehicle is out of warranty...sorry- I will not ever do this again. It's back to the dealership for me. At least the work done and the quote given is what is in writing- or they call to ask if work needed is OK and they always have it ready when they say it will be ready. Broke down 30 miles outside of Reno last Tuesday. AAA drove us to Greg's about 5 o'clock it was the thermostat. They had us out and running the next day around 1:30. They looked pretty busy but were able to get us back on the road so we could get home. Problem later was a crack in the radiator not the thermostat. Filling the radiator got us home but broke down again the next week. Thorough inspection should have caught it. Disappointed. read more

I thought I would give these guys a chance since they were close to our apartment despite the negative reviews. Took our vehicle to have the horn hooked back up (was disconnected by the previous owner) and have the airbag light checked. They quoted us $2500-3000 to fix the horn and diagnose the airbag light issue but couldn't guarantee that would even fix the issues. The gentleman said his mechanics spent about 2.5 hours trying to diagnose the issue and their labor rate is $98/hr. So I ended up having to pay $250 just to diagnose the issues and run some digital inspections. Unbelievable. The funny thing is they talked to my wife initially and were going to charge $400+ (to diagnose the issues) but since she was at work I called them to figure out what was going on and they dropped the price to just the cost of the labor. This confirms another reviewers belief that they take advantage of women. And why did I pay anything you ask? They had me sign a paper when I dropped it off, and didn't give me a copy of what I signed so my hands were tied. Never again will I pay someone that much money for NOT doing any work. made an appointment for Friday for diagnostic on front suspension brought it in at 7 30 am i called them at 430 pm they said they would call me back 5oclock I called a cab and went down to pick up my truck they told me bad pitman arm steering box needs adjustment and maybe brakes for 650 so I scheduled an appointment for Monday to have all the work completed dropped it off Monday morning at 730 am didn't hear anything all day finally I called them at 4 pm and the said its going to be my pitman arm 6 bushings a ball joint and an alignment and now the total is 2100 I said ok when will it be completed they said Tuesday I gave them the go ahead. Wednesday I received a call stating they were having some problems I went down to see what they had completed since I was supposed to have my truck back on Tuesday and they were just starting the repair did not even have it apart yet. got my truck back on Thursday at 5 pm. I have a two year old and work a full time job with that truck and its my only transportation they didn't seem to care. I would not take my truck back for warranty work it was that bad read more
